WITCHES HEX

Un poquito de power metal de los 90, se trata del grupo australiano "Pegazus", no debe ser confundido con la banda "Pegasus" (con "s") alemana de Black metal melódico de la que ya hemos hablado en el blog. Estos "Pegazus", australianos, hacen un power metal muy de los 90, con un cierto a heavy metal clásico europeo, sobre todo en sus inicios, con un sonido muy melódico apoyado en grandes riffs guitarreros. Se forman en 1993 en Melbourne y en 1995 se autoproducen su primer LP, "Pegazus", que les pone en el mapa musical. Consiguen firmar por el sello "Metal warrior" con quienes editan su segundo larga duración, "Wings of destiny", en 1997. Esta obra sería reeditada al año siguiente, en 1998 por "Nuclear Blast" tras haber firmado la banda con ellos un contrato para editar otro par de obras más, "Breaking the chains" en 1999 y "The headless horseman" en 2002. Tras este periodo en la discográfica la banda parece diluirse en el anonimato y no sería hasta 2011, ya con otra discográfica, "Black leather records" cuando sacasen su cuarta obra de estudio, "In metal we trust", no habiendo editado nada más desde entonces pero siguiendo supuestamente en activo. la banda ha tenido diversos cambios en sus miembros a lo largo de su historia siendo solo el guitarrista "Johnny Stoj" el único que ha permanecido desde sus inicios hasta la actualidad. Hoy quiero traer al blog su segunda obra de estudio, "Wings of destiny", como decía más arriba de 1998 (su reedición con Nuclear Blast), y en la que cuentan con el genial vocalista Danny Cecati, el que más me ha gustado en ese puesto, bastante desconocido pero que aquí me gusta mucho su labor como cantante. Quiero escoger el tema "Witches Hex" de este disco, pues es uno de los que más me gustan del disco, y lo veo perfecto para presentar al grupo en el blog, una canción con ese sabor a heavy de toda la vida, casi "Maideniano" en ocasiones, sobre todo en los ritmos guitarreros, las melodías de fondo que acompañan todo el tema, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Un disco recomendable en su conjunto, de la que se pueden también destacar delicados temas como "destiny", que pone un melancólico colofón a una buena y desconocida obra.
