COUNT  ON  ME

Los alemanes Victory están de vuelta en este 2024 con su duodecimo LP de estudio "Circle of life". El grupo destacó sobre todo en los ochenta, en una década que nos dejo grandes obras que realmente les deberían haber catapultado hacia el estrellato, en mi caso personal siempre destacaré su "Don't get mad ... Get Even" de 1986 con una gran carga emocional para mí, el caso es que tras esos primeros cinco discos el grupo se diluyó bastante, cambiando su esencia y dejó no solo para mí de ser lo importante que debería haber seguido siendo. Herman Frank, el verdadero sustentador del grupo no se dió por vencido y militando en otras grandes bandas quiso mantener vivo el espíritu del Victory para retomarlo, bastante irregularmente desde 2003 en adelante con nueva formación, y en este 2024 da continuidad a su anterior trabajo de 2021, en palabras del músico, un disco mucho más asentado como la propia banda, creciendo para mantenerse arriba. Canciones para una vida - Victory - Sneaking Out

 

SNEAKING  OUT

Ya me he referido en varias ocasiones a este album en el blog, y es que me parece de justicia hacerlo pues es para mí una de esas bandas algo menospreciadas y concretamente este album, "Don't get mad get even" de 1986 es uno de sus máximos exponentes como grupo, un ejemplo como pocos de lo que se dio en llamar hard 'n heavy, tan presente en la década de los ochenta, y además este grupo en ese momento concreto era una reunión de grandisimos músicos, una especie de reunión en el que se daba salida a material creado que no cabía en otras percepciones compositivas y aquí encontro salida, nombres como Hermann Frank, Tommy Newton, Charlie Hunh deberían poner sobre aviso a cualquier metalhead versado en las figuras y los músicos. También, evidentemente en lo personal es una de esas obras que acompañó mis primeros pasos en esto del heavy metal y claro, eso siempre da ese plus que quizá de otra manera no tendría tanto. El caso es que sin duda es una obra recomandable, de inicio a fin, en una línea que te recordará muchas cosas, Accept, pero menos potentes, Scorpions pero más cañeros, o Bonfire pero más heavy, a medio caminos de muchas cosas para encontrar una senda propia, y de este gran disco dejo hoy otro de sus temas, "Sneaking Out" una suerte de medio tiempo que deja el poso de calidad de la banda, el disco y la época, todos elementos irrepetibles, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  HUNTER

Una vez más encuentro en los inicios de una banda el mejor de sus momentos,,algo que, sobre todo al mirar en la década de los ochenta veo casi como recurrente. En esta ocasión me quiero referir a los alemanes "Victory" quienes han dado forma a una carrera larga aunque con muchos cambios, no solo de integrantes donde la lista es larga y de categoría, sino también en lo estilístico, con unos incios que rondaban el heavy metal, hard 'N heavy, para ir rolando progresivamente a un sonido más hard, algo igualmente muy "típico" en algunas bandas de incios de los 80 que veían como la "fiebre" hard rockera americana se apoderaba del final de dicha década y decidían tirar por esa senda. Hoy, como decía más arriba, quiero volver la mirada a los incios de esta banda, y fijarme en una de las épocas de su sonido que más me han gustado, en concreto sus dos primeras obras, "Victory" de 1985 y "Don't get mad get even" de 1986, (sobre todo esta segunda). El tema que hoy dejo en el blog es de su primer LP "Victory" del 85, donde particularmente me encantaba el trabajo vocal de Charlie Huhn, que repetiría en su segundo magnífico trabajo, En su debut mostraban ya el tremendo potencial que atesoraban, un disco a medio camino de muchas cosas y en mi opinión muy disfrutable, y del que hoy dejo en el blog la canción "The Hunter" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

ARSONIST  OF  THE  HEART


Una vez más acudo a esta magnifica obra de los alemanes Victory, un disco este "Don't get mad get even" de 1986 del que ya he hablado en otras ocasiones y que tiene un punto especial para mí. Hoy y para no repetirme en exceso quiero hacer incapie en la formación que dio vida a esta segunda obra de la banda, un plantel de músicos que tienen una importancia, al menos suficiente como para haber llegado aún más alto de lo que lo hicieron bajo este nombre de Victory. Así vemos como a las guitarras encontramos a Herman Frank, quien destacase en su trabajo con "Sinner" entre el 85 y 86, o con Accept en 1983, además de desarrollar su carrera en múltiples bandas incluida una bajo su propio nombre. Además, también en las guitarras encontramos el nombre de Tommy Newton quien colaborase en el primer LP de Gamma Ray en 1990, y destacase como ingeniero de sonido en infinidad de bandas de primerísimo nivel , Gamma Ray, Freedom Call y un largo etc, donde destacan por brillo propio los Keeper de Helloween nada menos. Además, destaca de Victory en esa época del "Don't get mad get even" Charlie Huhn a la voz y su colaboración con el primer material de Axel Rudi Pell en solitario. Solo desde semejante perspectiva ya merecería que uno asomase su oido a esta magnifica obra de 1986, y es, bajo mi punto de vista, altamente recomendable como obra completa, y de ella dejo hoy otro tema, en esta ocasión este "Arsonist of the heart" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

CHECK'S IN THE MAIL

Victory, una banda que surge de los restos de otra anterior llamada Fargo que había estado en activo entre 1973 y 1984. En 1985, algunos miembros de Fargo se reunen bajo el nombre de Victory y comienzan a sacar discos en 1985. Victory atraviesa diversas fases y su música también evoluciona pudiendo hacerse según mi criterio dos fases, hasta 1992 en que la banda hace un hard ' n ' heavy muy ochentero, y desde entonces en adelante con discos más complejos y experimentales y con separaciones y reuniones incluidas. Teóricamente la banda sigue en activo y se rumorea que sacarán en breve algo de material nuevo. Hasta la fecha de esta reseña, Victory tienen 10 discos de estudio, de los que inevitablemente tengo que quedarme con los que inician su andadura como banda, las obras sacadas hasta el 92 de entre las que destaco este "Don't get mad get even", de 1986, su segunda obra de estudio, de la que ya dejé hace meses otro tema en el blog  y posiblemente la obra de esta banda que a mi personalmente más me gusta. En ella encontramos un heavy hard muy bien compuesto y que te llega enseguida y en la que todos los temas encajan a la perfección unos con otros.Con Charlie Huhn a la voz, Tommy Newton a la guitarra, Herman Frank a la guitarra también, Fritz Randow a la batería y Peter Knorn al bajo, presentan un plantel de lujo que se nota tanto en la composición de la obra como en su sonido, una de esas obras tan menospreciadas para mi gusto como fundamentales, y de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de sus temas, en concreto el que abre la obra "Check's in the mail", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

En esta ocasión quiero hablar de todo un clásico de los ochenta, se trata de los alemanes Victory, una banda que surge de los restos de otra anterior llamada Fargo que había estado en activo entre 1973 y 1984. Victory atraviesa diversas fases y su musica también evoluciona pudiendo hacerse según mi criterio dos fases, hasta 1992 en que la banda hace un hard ' n ' heavy muy ochentero, y desde entonces en adelante con discos más complejos y experimentales y con separaciones y reuniones incluidas. Teoricamente la banda sigue en activo y se rumorea que sacarán en breve algo de material nuevo. Hasta la fecha de esta reseña, Victory tienen 10 discos de estudio, de los que inevitablemente tengo que quedarme con los que inician su andadura como banda, las obras sacadas hasta el 92 de entre las que destaco este Don't get mad get even, de 1986, su segunda obra de estudio y la que a mi personalmente más me gusta. En ella encontramos un heavy hard muy bien compuesto y que te llega enseguida y en la que todos los temas encajan a la perfección unos con otros. Son destacables cualquiera de sus otros discos de estudio hasta el 92 como digo y seguramente encontrareis muchos buenos temas entre su discografía, volveremos con ellos más adelante aunque solo sea para hablar de su estupendo disco Temples of gold. En fin, un clásico para revisar si lo tenias olvidado o para descubrir si aún no lo habias hecho. Dejo un enlace a youtube.
