Los suecos Blazon Stone están de vuelta en este 2025 para mostrarnos su capacidad emulativa del sonido corsario deudor sin duda del de los maestros Running Wild, en esta ocasión dando muestra de otra de sus virtudes, la de componer material de primerísimo nivel (sobre todo si eres amante del sonido de la vieja escuela), y además en gran cantidad, desde 2013 siete LP's de estudio y un octavo que prometen para inicios de 2026 del que han descartado algunos temas que ahora, a finales de este 2025 se permiten incluir en un EP con cuatro temas "Treasure Hunt", no todo el mundo está en disposición para descartar temas de este calibre lo que muestra a la perfección de la calidad de estos músicos. MAD  HONEY 

No es fácil reinventarse, en general, más imagino para una banda veterana, pero además hacerlo con un nivel de ilusión y éxito grande, como parece el caso de los suecos Treat tiene más mérito todavía. La verdad es que ya en su anterior trabajo de estudio dejaron clara su nueva dirección, que no es sino un lavado de cara, una modernización, una puesta al día de lo que en realidad han hecho toda su carrera, pero con el espejo sonoro de muchas bandas hard modernas de éxito, muchas de su propio país, ellos han decidido coger ese tren y en este 2025 lo dejan claro con su último trabajo "the wild card" y por ejemplo este "Mad Honey" del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Steel Arctus - Defender Of Steel

 

DEFENDER  OF  STEEL 

Definitivamente los griegos Steel Arctus se consolidan en este 2025 con su tercer LP de estudio "Dreamruler", un trabajo bien acogido por la crítica por su solidez y la perpetuación del sonido de la banda, de su identidad sin renunciar al crecimiento personal como banda. Mentalist - A New World

 

A  NEW  WORLD 

Los proyectos en los que se involucran grandes músicos tienen muchas posibilidades de dar que hablar aunque igualmente deben superar ese periodo de prueba para pasar de ser un proyecto puntual o alternativo a poder considerarlo como una banda con todas las garantías. En el caso de la banda internacional Mentalist, el nombre propio debe ser el del batería Thomen Stauch de sobra conocido para los amantes de Blind Guardian, y tras siete años desde su formación claramente han ingresado en ese grupo de bandas como tal, algo refrendado aún más en su crecimiento continuado a lo largo de sus cuatro LP's de estudio que han culminado con "earthbreaker" de este 2025, que no es sino un resumen y escaparate de las muchas cualidades de esta banda. El disco es irreprochable, una obra que brilla a alto nivel general y del que hoy dejo en el blog otro de sus temas, en este caso el que cierra la obra, "A new world", instrumentalmente muy maideniano me atrevería a decir, un temazo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

 A base de oficio, persisitiendo en su idea, aumentando su oferta a base de obras no demasiado diferentes entre sí, ni diferentes de lo que se supone que debe ser el euro power, los germanos Hammer King editaban en este 2025 que ya está en las últimas su séptimo LP de estudio en una década de existencia, así, quizá supliendo la ausencia de originalidad en su propuesta con el citado tesón y la regularidad, ofrecen una experiencia sonora bien ejecutada y más que correcta en terminos power. Cada vez más engrasada, la banda sueca Bloodbound, con su ya larga trayectoria a las espaldas (más de veinte años desde 2004), sabe perfectamente que dar a su público para mantener su fidelidad, y conquistar la escena power, sobre todo europower, de los que son ahora mismo uno de los más claros exponentes. Hounds - Knightmare

 

KNIGHTMARE 

Hounds es una banda italiana que parece seguir la senda de las bandas tanto italianas como griegas por ejemplo de power de corte épico y un tanto true, sin embargo, hacer una lectura compositiva en ese sentido por ejemplo de toda su segunda obra de estudio de este 2025 "Rise of the immortals" sería un tanto injusto, ya que a medida que avanza la obra se aprecian otras influencias compositivas, la verdad es que algo indeterminadas, es dificil encasillar a esta banda en una sola etiqueta y parecen aún seguir buscando su sendero hacia el futuro. Formados en 2016 en principio con la intención de ser una banda de versiones, con la incorporación de más componentes pronto deciden intentar interpretar su propio material, así, en 2018 publican su primer material en formato EP "Hounds" al que seguiría en 2020 su primer LP "Warrior of sun". Un lustro después nos llega este mencionado "Rise of the immortals" del que quiero dejar en el blog el tema que lo abre, posiblemente el más en esa línea Power epic true tan italiana o griega, el tema lleva por título "Knightmare" y de él dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Stargazery - Carnival Puppeteers

CARNIVAL  PUPPETEERS 

Stargazery, la banda finlandesa, otra de esas de las que te das cuenta mirando atrás que llevan ya dos décadas en activo (desde 2005) aunque en tu cabeza parezca una banda "de esas nuevas", esto pasa mucho (al menos a mí). El caso es que son ese típico grupo que con todo el tiempo de actividad que llevan el hecho de que lleven tan solo cuatro LP's de estudio se antoja un legado demasiado escaso a pesar de que la calidad media de sus obras sea notable. El último de sus discos ha visto la luz la pasada semana, "Carnival puppeteers" (7 de noviembre), y hoy quiero dejar en el blog la canción que da nombre a la obra, de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Grailknights - Weekend Ninja

 

WEEKEND  NINJA

Cada vez me queda más claro que la calidad de las bandas no tiene porqué estar reñida con una imagen irreverente con los cánones metálicos o excéntrica, el ejemplo de los germanos Grailknights es buena prueba de ello. Si hubieran querido podrían haber desarrollado una carrera mucho más dentro de los límites estéticos pero de esta manera han encontrado su senda, destacando del resto en ese sentido y hallando un filón compositivo y un rol al que incluir a los fans en sus conciertos. Frozen Land - Dead End

DEAD  END 

Los finlandeses Frozen Land publicarán en este 2025 su tercer LP de estudio "Icemelter", (21 de noviembre). MIND  REAPER 

Los griegos Darklon siguen dando pasos en su carrera, este año con su tercer LP "Mind Reaper" que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo día 28 de este mes de noviembre. Será el tercer LP de la banda que siguen en la senda iniciada en los dos primeros albumes de heavy power de corte épico, siguiendo si se quiere un estilo hibrido entre los dos lados del charco, notándose un cierto aire americano en su sonido. Blizzen - No More Room In Hell

 

NO  MORE  ROOM  IN  HELL 

Creo que todos estaremos bastante de acuerdo en que dificilmente una portada de un disco puede ser más heavy, cumpliendo absolutamente todos los estereotipos que cabría esperar, y lo mejor del tema es que la banda compositivamente hablando sigue dicha senda desde un punto de vista de la vieja escuela, en definitiva una banda que facilmente podría haber sacado la obra en 1984, pero que lo ha hecho en este 2025, son los alemanes Blizzen, en su tercer LP de estudio llamado "Metalectric", que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 21 de noviembre y del que nos dejan este adelanto, "No more room in hell" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

CRY  FOR  REVENGE 

Nuevo paso adelante en la carrera de los griegos Steel Arctus, un grupo formado en 2020 que en este 2025 verá como se publica su tercer LP de estudio. El hilo argumental de la banda va acorde al estilo épico que utilizan, y de hecho el nombre de la banda viene del protagonista de sus historias, un guerrero barbaro a lo Conan que va superando peripecias a modo casi conceptual en cada nueva obra. Treat - One Minute To Breathe

ONE  MINUTE  TO  BREATHE 

Adentremonos en terrenos de hard melódico moderno pero encarnados en el sonido actual de una banda clásica como son Treat, los suecos que han desarrollado su carrera en dos fases, con una vuelta a la actividad a finales de los 2000, (recordemos que el inicio de su carrera de dio en los ochenta hasta su separación en 1993). Con su sonido "refrescado", la banda ha ido alcanzando un nivel que rivaliza con el de nombres asentados en el subgénero y compatriotas suyos como Eclipse por ejemplo o HEAT. Nuevo repaso a uno de los debut interesantes de este 2025, el de la banda griega Dragon Skull, con influencia clásica y reminiscencias desde Omen hasta Manowar (en según que tesituras) y ese aire épico, la banda ha creado expectativas con esta puesta de largo en formato LP que desde ahora en adelante deberán confirmar y consolidar. No sin un cierto aire compositivo progresivo, sin llegar a ello el grupo bebe de varias fuentes para mostrar un resultado pues eso, interesante como mínimo. Manegarm - Edsvuren

 

EDSVUREN 

Si echamos la vista atrás en lo que se refiere a la historia de esta banda sueca, Manegarm, vemos ya una larga trayectoria a sus espaldas con once LP's de estudio en esos años de actividad (desde 1995). Con esa concepción compositiva a medio camino entre el black metal y el folk metal, de temática siempre nórdica, vikinga, la banda ha ido creciendo a medida que desarrollaban su carrera, y añadiendo poco a poco más melodía han ido aumentando sus legiones de fans hasta su estatus actual muy respetado en general. Angus McSix - The Fire Of Yore

THE  FIRE  OF  YORE 

La respuesta del cantante Thomas Winkler a su salida de Gloryhammer fue la creación de una banda clónica paralela, eso sí, con la colaboración de al menos un nombre gigantesco como fue el de Seeb Levermann de Orden Ogan, eso garantizaba sin duda el sonido. Lo curioso del tema es que tras la salida en 2023 de su primer y, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, único disco, el citado cantante sale también de este proyecto, lo que podría parecer la sentencia del mismo, sin embargo, con la llegada de un nuevo cantante, Samuel Nyman (Manimal), y la bestia compositiva y técnica de Levermann, el grupo está en este 2025 dando muestras de su continuidad a través ya de dos singles nuevos, el primero de ellos ya lo dejé en el blog y hoy dejo el segundo, "The fire of Yore". Todo apunta a que será preludio de su segundo disco de estudio. Dejo un enlace a youtube de este segundo single.

Eluveitie - Aeon Of The Crescent Moon

AEON  OF  THE  CRESCENT  MOON 

Tras más de un lustro de silencio compositivo, los suizos Eluveitie regresan a través de su séptimo LP de estudio a la senda de eterna promesa de este sonido folk death melódico con de nuevo muchas esperanzas en su explosión definitiva. Es una banda que ha demostrado a partes iguales su calidad y capacidad tanto como su inconstancia, un peaje enorme en los tiempos que corren. "Anv" parece destinado a devolver esa esperanza de crecimiento a la banda que ha cuidado más algunos aspectos como la parte de la producción y refuerza esa dualidad entre la melancólica propuesta melódica con la desgarradora potencia en otros momentos.Un disco de buen nivel del que dejo hoy en el blog otra de sus canciones, "Aeon ot the crescent moon" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Alestorm - The Storm

THE  STORM 

Si hablabamos ayer de una banda cuyo inicio no presagiaba una carrera excepcional, hoy podemos decir lo mismo de la banda que nos ocupa, los escoceses Alestorm. Si que es cierto que su sonido resultaba ser quizá más acorde al actual desde el comienzo respecto a lo dicho referente a los italianos Wind Rose con su propio inicio, sin embargo, los mimbres de la banda (Alestorm), así a priori nunca me hubiesen hecho jurar que resultarían tan exitosos e imitables, abriendo escuela. En este 2025 el grupo ha publicado ya el octavo LP de estudio desde su formación en 2007, y sabiendo lo que el publico les demanda ellos simplemente se lo dan. Hoy dejo otra de las canciones de esta su última obra, en concreto el tema "The Storm" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
