MASKIROVKA 

 Vamos de nuevo con los suecos Ambush, una de esas primeras bandas que se apuntaron a la resurrección del sonido clásico del heavy metal de la vieja escuela, que se viene produciendo desde la primera mitad de la pasada década. Formados en 2013, a fecha de esta reseña han publicado cuatro LP's de estudio, el último de ellos del pasado 2025, "Evil in all dimensions", y del que quiero dejar en el blog hoy otra de sus canciones, hoy "Markirovka" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Erlking - By This Axe

Otra banda más que empieza a abrirse camino, en este caso, desde un punto de vista de publicación de material en formato LP el pasado 2025 con su debut "Ends of the earth". Formados en 2023, su nicho sonoro es un heavy metal de regusto clásico, muy del heavy metal ochentero de su escuela natal, con una tendencia a coros épicos, sin duda resultones a la hora de corearse en vivo. Master Spy - Maze Runner

MAZE  RUNNER 

Ya en su debut de 2021, los canadienses Master Spy nos dejaron una grandísima impresión, dejaron claro su potencial, y claro, fue inevitable su parecido en ciertos aspectos con los británicos Iron Maiden, lo que les hizo que muchas miradas curiosas pusieran sus ojos en ellos. En 2025 editaba la banda su segundo LP, "Maze Runner", que debería ser la confirmación del grupo, no es fácil muchas veces ese segundo paso cuando se destaca en el primero, pero sin duda la banda sigue la línea de su debut en este "Maze Runner" del que hoy dejo en el blog el tema que le da nombre, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Ereb Altor - Valkyrian Fate

VALKYRIAN  FATE 

Siempre con la eterna fama de ser los discípulos más constantes de Bathory, lo cual resulta ya un poco injusto, los suecos Ereb Altor llevan ya a sus espaldas una discografía lo suficientemente extensa y de calidad para, sin negar la evidente influencia de Bathory merecer hacer brillar su nombre como argumento suficiente para justificar una carrera que a medida que pasa el tiempo se hace más y más sólida. Desde 2008 en que publican su debut 10 son los LP's en total que suponen su discografía, el último de ellos del recién pasado 2025 (febrero) "Halsingemorker", del que quiero dejar hoy en el blog una de sus canciones, "Valkyrian Fate", con la que abren la obra y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Warmen - Untouched

 

UNTOUCHED 

Los finlandeses Warmen se reinventaron hacia 2023 para dar ese cambio necesario para una banda cuando se siente estancada, y, tras un silencio de casi una década en el citado 2023 editaban su sexto LP de estudio "Here for none" con la incorporación de Petri Lindroos a la voz (Ensiferum) así como el mucho más deconocido Seppo Tarvainen a la batería, así pues, de ahí en adelante, el heavy power melódico y de vocación neoclásica del inicio de su carrera se tornaría un death melódico con un cierto trasfondo power en adelante. En este recién pasado 2025  editaba la banda su segundo LP de estudio con esta nueva fórmula (séptimo de su discografía), "Band of brothers" publicado el pasado agosto. De dicha obra dejo en el blog hoy su canción "Untouched" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Wings Of Steel - We Rise

WE  RISE 

En nuestra inevitable necesidad de etiquetar y acotar las cosas resulta más que probable que al analizar el sonido de los estadounidenses Wings Of Steel acuda a nuestra cabeza el de sus compatriotas Queensryche, o incluso un cierto toque Skid Row en algunos detalles, sin embargo es siempre injusto comparar a las bandas emergentes con nombres pretéritos y sobre todo tan grandes, lo que resulta innegable ante la banda angelína es que la calidad está de su parte, que en lo compositivo como en lo interpretativo este grupo está llamado a grandes cosas y teniendo en cuenta la juventud de la banda (formada en 2019) y su crecimiento desde su primer album a este segundo "Winds of time" de 2025 deberíamos esperar esas grandes cosas. Castle Rat - Wizard Crystal Heart

WIZARD  CRYSTAL  HEART 

A primera vista, por los ojos, la banda estadounidense Castle Rat parece sacada de la parte final de los setenta, con esa imagen de las obras oscuras de los citados años, y en lo sonoro estamos sin duda ante un planteamiento similar, centrando su argumentación compositiva en aquel doom primigenio un tanto Black Sabbath o Pentagram, de nuevo una banda de formación reciente que echa un vistazo atrás para rendir tributo al sonido inicial pero en los años presentes. Formados en 2019, el grupo ha editado dos LP's de estudio, (2024 y 2025) centrado en ese Doom de influjo y pretensión fantástico épico, y hoy, de su segundo LP del recién pasado 2025, "The bestiary", quiero dejar en el blog su canción "Wizard crystal Heart" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, todo un viaje estético a épocas pretéritas.

Coroner - Renewal

 

RENEWAL 

Nuevo caso de banda que se reivindica muchos años después de su parada con un album absolutamente destacable. Son los suizos Coroner, que llevaban en silencio desde 1993 tras su quinto album de estudio que ponía el silencio en su carrera, una banda a la que se le daría desde ese momento un cierto aire de culto para la escena thrash, y que como digo, tras tres décadas de silencio, el recién pasado 2025 editaban su sexto LP "Dissonance Theory" que ha cosechado un enorme éxito de critica y una enormemente agradable sorpresa para sus seguidores. Midnight Vice - Mystic Eyes

MYSTIC  EYES 

Los estadounidenses Midnight Vice son la enésima banda nueva que apuesta por ese sonido de corte clásico, de fondo ochentero, base de heavy metal con guiños hard ' n heavy. Es una banda formada en 2020 que de momento ha publicado tan solo un EP en 2023 y que ahora, en este ya agonizante 2025 publican un nuevo single "Mystic Eyes" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial. Está de moda no hay duda ese aire compositivo a lo retro, y por que no, también la imagen, basta con ver este clip.

NORTHERN  STONES 

Nivel altísimo el propuesto por el proyecto sueco "Defenders of the Faith" compuesto por miembros de la banda Therion en su debut de este 2025 "Odes to the gods". Pinta tiene a juzgar por la propuesta, por la acogida y por la calidad de la propuesta de que el proyecto pueda y quizá deba perpetuarse como banda en sí en adelante, solo el tiempo dirá si es así o no. de momento las nueve canciones de la obra (con su par de alternativas) son suficiente motivo como para acercarse y disfrutar de ella, hoy, a través del blog, por ejemplo de su canción "Northern stones" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Amorphis - Crowned In Crimson

CROWNED  IN  CRIMSON 

2025 ha sido testigo no solo de la publicación del décimo sexto LP de estudio de la banda finlandesa Amorphis, sino también de la salida de un nuevo single "Crowned in Crimson" que será incluido en la película finlandesa "Son of revenge - The story of Kalevala" que se estrenará a inicios de 2026. Para el presente single además presenta en la parte vocal femenina a Lida Joutsen, hija del carismático cantante de la banda. Un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

No es en absoluto nada nuevo que una discográfica, (en este caso Napalm Records), utilice todos, sus muchos recursos, para arreglar colaboraciones entre bandas que hayan firmado con su sello, creando así además de un potencial grupo nuevo, una posibilidad de ingresos extras y beneficios. Blazon Stone - Cutthroat Island

CUTTHROAT  ISLAND 

Los suecos Blazon Stone están de vuelta en este 2025 para mostrarnos su capacidad emulativa del sonido corsario deudor sin duda del de los maestros Running Wild, en esta ocasión dando muestra de otra de sus virtudes, la de componer material de primerísimo nivel (sobre todo si eres amante del sonido de la vieja escuela), y además en gran cantidad, desde 2013 siete LP's de estudio y un octavo que prometen para inicios de 2026 del que han descartado algunos temas que ahora, a finales de este 2025 se permiten incluir en un EP con cuatro temas "Treasure Hunt", no todo el mundo está en disposición para descartar temas de este calibre lo que muestra a la perfección de la calidad de estos músicos. Treat - Mad Honey

MAD  HONEY 

No es fácil reinventarse, en general, más imagino para una banda veterana, pero además hacerlo con un nivel de ilusión y éxito grande, como parece el caso de los suecos Treat tiene más mérito todavía. La verdad es que ya en su anterior trabajo de estudio dejaron clara su nueva dirección, que no es sino un lavado de cara, una modernización, una puesta al día de lo que en realidad han hecho toda su carrera, pero con el espejo sonoro de muchas bandas hard modernas de éxito, muchas de su propio país, ellos han decidido coger ese tren y en este 2025 lo dejan claro con su último trabajo "the wild card" y por ejemplo este "Mad Honey" del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Steel Arctus - Defender Of Steel

 

DEFENDER  OF  STEEL 

Definitivamente los griegos Steel Arctus se consolidan en este 2025 con su tercer LP de estudio "Dreamruler", un trabajo bien acogido por la crítica por su solidez y la perpetuación del sonido de la banda, de su identidad sin renunciar al crecimiento personal como banda. Se trata de una obra conceptual que en ningún momento se hace pesada o larga y hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de las canciones que conforman la obra, en esta ocasión "Defender of steel", con ese aire absolutamente épico y un trabajo vocal espectacular, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Mentalist - A New World

 

A  NEW  WORLD 

Los proyectos en los que se involucran grandes músicos tienen muchas posibilidades de dar que hablar aunque igualmente deben superar ese periodo de prueba para pasar de ser un proyecto puntual o alternativo a poder considerarlo como una banda con todas las garantías. En el caso de la banda internacional Mentalist, el nombre propio debe ser el del batería Thomen Stauch de sobra conocido para los amantes de Blind Guardian, y tras siete años desde su formación claramente han ingresado en ese grupo de bandas como tal, algo refrendado aún más en su crecimiento continuado a lo largo de sus cuatro LP's de estudio que han culminado con "earthbreaker" de este 2025, que no es sino un resumen y escaparate de las muchas cualidades de esta banda. El disco es irreprochable, una obra que brilla a alto nivel general y del que hoy dejo en el blog otro de sus temas, en este caso el que cierra la obra, "A new world", instrumentalmente muy maideniano me atrevería a decir, un temazo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Hammer King - The Last Kingdom

THE  LAST  KINGDOM 

 A base de oficio, persisitiendo en su idea, aumentando su oferta a base de obras no demasiado diferentes entre sí, ni diferentes de lo que se supone que debe ser el euro power, los germanos Hammer King editaban en este 2025 que ya está en las últimas su séptimo LP de estudio en una década de existencia, así, quizá supliendo la ausencia de originalidad en su propuesta con el citado tesón y la regularidad, ofrecen una experiencia sonora bien ejecutada y más que correcta en terminos power. Hoy dejo otro de los temas de este su sçeptimo LP "Make metal royal again" publicada el 15 de agosto, concretamente la canción que cierra la obra, "The last kingdom", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Bloodbound - The Code Of Warriors

 

 THE  CODE  OF  WARRIORS

Cada vez más engrasada, la banda sueca Bloodbound, con su ya larga trayectoria a las espaldas (más de veinte años desde 2004), sabe perfectamente que dar a su público para mantener su fidelidad, y conquistar la escena power, sobre todo europower, de los que son ahora mismo uno de los más claros exponentes. En este 2025 han publicado su undécimo LP de estudio "Filed of swords" (21 de noviembre) y de él dejo hoy en el blog otro de los temas que forman parte de la obra, "The code of warriors" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Hounds - Knightmare

 

KNIGHTMARE 

Hounds es una banda italiana que parece seguir la senda de las bandas tanto italianas como griegas por ejemplo de power de corte épico y un tanto true, sin embargo, hacer una lectura compositiva en ese sentido por ejemplo de toda su segunda obra de estudio de este 2025 "Rise of the immortals" sería un tanto injusto, ya que a medida que avanza la obra se aprecian otras influencias compositivas, la verdad es que algo indeterminadas, es dificil encasillar a esta banda en una sola etiqueta y parecen aún seguir buscando su sendero hacia el futuro. Formados en 2016 en principio con la intención de ser una banda de versiones, con la incorporación de más componentes pronto deciden intentar interpretar su propio material, así, en 2018 publican su primer material en formato EP "Hounds" al que seguiría en 2020 su primer LP "Warrior of sun". Un lustro después nos llega este mencionado "Rise of the immortals" del que quiero dejar en el blog el tema que lo abre, posiblemente el más en esa línea Power epic true tan italiana o griega, el tema lleva por título "Knightmare" y de él dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Stargazery - Carnival Puppeteers

CARNIVAL  PUPPETEERS 

Stargazery, la banda finlandesa, otra de esas de las que te das cuenta mirando atrás que llevan ya dos décadas en activo (desde 2005) aunque en tu cabeza parezca una banda "de esas nuevas", esto pasa mucho (al menos a mí). El caso es que son ese típico grupo que con todo el tiempo de actividad que llevan el hecho de que lleven tan solo cuatro LP's de estudio se antoja un legado demasiado escaso a pesar de que la calidad media de sus obras sea notable. El último de sus discos ha visto la luz la pasada semana, "Carnival puppeteers" (7 de noviembre), y hoy quiero dejar en el blog la canción que da nombre a la obra, de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
