A FREE  MAN'S  PATH 

Practicamente imposible encontrar este disco en original a precio asequible, la primera obra de los finlandeses Brymir es uno de esos discos que automáticamente me hizo seguirles desde que empezaron, un disco que ya hablaba de sus virtudes y que mostraba el potencial que luego han ido confirmando. Hablamos de "Breath fire to the sun" y hablamos de 2011, con temas como este "A free man's path" que dejo hoy en el blog.

Redundando en la idea ya expuesta sobre esta banda y obra, el cuarto disco de estudio de estos finlandeses "Brymir" no es sino una confirmación de varias cosas, de que la banda ha encontrado definitivamente su propia senda, de que a medida que van pasando las obras va ganando en calidad, en peso específico y el crecimiento evidente del grupo se ha plasmado en este 2022 en forma de "Voices in the sky" del que hoy dejo en el blog otro más de sus temas, en este caso la contundente con alma de medio tiempo "All as one" temazo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Todo parece siempre indicar con esta gran banda finlandesa, Brymir, que están llamados a encabezar en algún momento su propuesta compositiva a nivel planetario, obra tras obra demuestran ese crecimiento como banda que les ha hecho encontrar su hueco en la escena internacional, aunque desde los inicios de la banda en 2006 y sobre todo desde su debut de 2011 "Breathe fire to the sun" me declaré seguidor incondicional de esta banda, por lo que no se hasta que punto soy del todo objetivo. Sea como sea la banda saca hoy a la venta de forma oficial el cuarto LP, "Voices in the sky" del que dejo en el blog su tercer adelanto, "Fly with me", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Brymir es para mí sin duda una de las mejores bandas en su sonido, una de las más finas desarrollando ese death melódico, y han ido llegando de forma progresiva a este punto actual de incontestable calidad. Desde su formación en 2006 han ido conformando esa personalidad propia que en este 2022 ve como fruto su cuarto LP de estudio "Voices in the sky" que verá la luz de forma oficial en este inminente mes de agosto, y de la que en estos días deajn su segundo adelanto, "Herald of Aegir" que no hace sino aumentar las ganas de escuchar el nuevo LP en su conjunto, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

VOICES  IN  THE  SKY

Las primeras pinceladas del nuevo disco de los finlandeses Brymir ya están aquí, gran noticia para los que como yo amamos su sonido desde el inicio mismo de su carrera. Se tratará ya de su cuarto LP de estudio enmarcado en su death melódico, poco a poco con una menor carga folk, ya que el grupo ha sabido encontrar su propio nicho sonoro, su hueco en la escena internacional, dejando siempre el listón muy alto en cada nueva obra, y esta, a juzgar por el tema de adelanto que es el que dará nombre a la obra, "Voices in the sky" que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo mes de agosto, promete seguir con esa línea de calidad. El primer zarpazo deja clara dicha continuidad a través de un tema con su sonido prototípico y esperable, gran noticia, un tema del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

LAMENT  OF  THE  RAVENOUS

Siempre que hablo de esta banda tengo que empezar advirtiendo de mi debilidad por ellos, siendo uno de esos grupos que te entran desde el comienzo de su carrera, y, si bien, tras el espectacular debut y el largo parón hasta la salida del segundo LP, que me resultó un tanto decepcionante, quizá también por el largo tiempo de espera precisamente y el citado interés personal en ellos, llega este tercer LP, ya con más continuidad, un enorme acierto y una variedad suficiente para hacer de su escucha un refrescante acto de disfrute total. Disco absolutamente recomendable del que ya he dejado la mitad en el blog y del que hoy dejo la canción "Lament Of the ravenous", un medio tiempo épico del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Parece evidente que Brymir ha dado un paso adelante en lo que ha encontrar una senda estilística, compositiva y de calidad propia se refiere, y esta tercera, y hasta la fecha de este reseña, última obra de estudio "Wings of fire" es un ejemplo perfecto de lo dicho. Ya he acudido a este disco en tres ocasiones y su concepto del death melódico tan propio es posible que me haga volver a ella en alguna ocasión más. Por lo tanto tan solo redundar en lo dicho anteriormente, y que mejor manera de lograrlo que dejar el tema que abre la obra, "Gloria In Regum" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Brymir - Wings Of Fire

WINGS  OF  FIRE

 El 8 de marzo verá la luz la tercera obra de estudio de los finlandeses "Brymir", "Wings of fire". Es sin duda una gran noticia la vuelta a una senda más apropiada a lo esperado de la banda, según lo que voy escuchando de la nueva obra. Este grupo sacó un impresionante debut allá por 2011, todo lector asiduo de este blog ya sabe de mi gusto por ese disco y esta banda, pero tras dicha obra un largo silencio derivó en una segunda obra bastante por debajo de las espectativas despertadas en la obra inicial. Quizá ese aire "Ensiferum" que esgrimían por entonces, también al iniciar su carrera musical como una banda tributo a sus compatriotas, les pesase demasiado y en su intento por huir a toda costa de ese sonido perdieran su identidad en exceso. En los adelanto que van saliendo de esta tercera obra, parece haber un cierto retorno a los inicios, aunque igualmente se va viendo un concepto compositivo propio más acertado y maduro que el intentado en la segunda obra, un camino que espero continúe a lo largo y ancho de este "Wings Of fire", y de las futuras obras que decidan regalarnos. Hoy quiero dejar el tema que da nombre a la obra, "Wings Of Fire", confirmación de ese camino que emprende la banda hacia un sonido ya reconocible como suyo, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Brymir - Thus I Became Kronos

THUS  I  BECAME  KRONOS

Ahora que parece que la banda finlandesa "Brymir" realmente ha cogido velocidad de crucero con el anuncio de la salida de su tercer LP, "Wings Of Fire" para este próximo 8 de marzo de 2019, parece igualmente buen momento para repasar su aún último LP publicado "Slayer of gods" de 2016. La fórmula escogida por la banda para sacar material es un tanto curiosa con la edición de singles sin previo aviso entre obra y obra, un tanto alejados de la publicación de las mismas, como una especie de aperitivo para hacer ver que aún están con vida. Supongo que han aprendido del largo silencio que hubo entre la primera y la segunda obra, (2011 - 2016), para además editar un segundo LP con un sensible bajón con respecto al debut. De todas maneras estamos ante una gran banda y eso lo demuestran incluso durante la que no es su mejor obra hasta la fecha, ya que hay buenos temas en ella, como este "Thus I became Kronos" que hoy dejo en el blog.

RIDE  ON, SPIRIT

 Desde luego parece que el nivel de actividad de la banda finlandesa Brynir ha ido poco a poco en aumento, sin duda teniendo en cuenta lo que tardaron en editar su segunda obra de estudio tras su debut en 2011 con el magnífico "Breathe fire to the sun". Fue 2016 el año escogido para esa reactivación desde la perspectiva de la publicación de material, con dos singles y un LP durante ese 2016, y con dos singles más en este 2018. Igualmente estoy notando una mejora compositiva desde el segundo LP, ya que ambos singles de este año me han dado mejores sensaciones y una cierta vuelta al concepto de su primer LP que, personalmente me encanta. Hoy pues quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a este segundo single del presente 2018, "Ride on, spirit", recién editado, y del que quiero dejar un enlace a youtube de su lyric video oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Brymir - Chasing The Skyline

CHASING  THE  SKYLINE

Brymir vuelve a dar señales de vida musicales en este 2018 en forma del single "chasing the skyline", editado este pasado 4 de abril, por lo que parece como parte de una nueva obra que esta por venir, de momento sin una fecha concreta, un poco en la linea de lo que hicieron con su segundo LP "Slayer of the gods" de 2016 y el tema "The Black Hammer" que comenzó a circular al menos un año antes por internet. Esperemos que no tarden tanto en editar el que sería tercer LP de su discografía, aunque en su defensa en esta ocasión solo llevamos un par de años desde la salida del anterior material, a diferencia de lo que tardaron entre su magnífico debut "Breathe fire to the sun" (2011), y su segundo, (y un poco decepcionante para mi gusto) LP "Slayer of the gods". Volviendo al presente single, "Chasing the Skyline", el nuevo material parece un paso más en la carrera del grupo, indudablemente siempre se aprecia la calidad en esta banda, aunque la composición pueda agradar más o menos, lo de la calidad es innegable. Pues bien, en lo compositivo este tema se me antoja un híbrido entre lo primero que grabaron y el segundo material, de ahí que lo considere un paso más en su carrera, es general me ha agradado más que lo escuchado en "Slayer of the gods" salvo excepciones. Esperemos que retomen un poquito la senda del debut aunque con la evolución propia de una banda con ya más de una década a sus espaldas incluyendo la parte de su carrera en la que eran una banda tributo a "Ensiferum". En definitiva, nuevo material que escuchar de una de esas bandas que como desaten todo lo que dentro llevan deberían dar mucho que hablar. Canciones para una vida - Brymir - Battle For Pagan Might

BATTLE FOR PAGAN MIGHT

Difícil para mi hablar de esta nueva obra de los finlandeses Brymir, un grupo del que ya me he declarado en varias ocasiones aquí en el blog como amante de su extraordinaria primera obra, de la que ya he dejado varios temas en estas páginas metálicas, pero, tras una larga espera, que ya me hacía sospechar algo malo, puesto que cinco años para editar un segundo álbum suele indicar cosas, que por desgracia en la mayoría de ocasiones suelen ser más malas que buenas, pues suele indicar giras demasiado largas, (aunque raramente en discos debut), desmantelamiento de parte de las bandas, falta de ideas para dar continuidad a un buen álbum previo o una búsqueda en otros senderos musicales de las propias bandas que suele acabar, en no pocas ocasiones, en un desastre más que en un aumento de repercusión. No se, pero sea como sea, en esta ocasión me parece un poco de falta de ideas unido a un intento de desmarcarse del sonido "Ensiferumiano" de su primera obra, el caso es que no creo que las bandas deban intentar ocultar lo que son, y todo aquel que conozca el trabajo previo de Brymir y un poco su historia sabrá que Ensiferum es un punto importante con el que contar a la hora de hablar de Brymir, no solo por el sonido evidente de sus canciones, sino también porque la propia banda (Brymir), se creo como un proyecto que versionaba a sus compatriotas Ensiferum. Me parece fenomenal que las bandas intenten buscar su propio sonido pero en esta ocasión las composiciones del nuevo disco han perdido ese filo que si tenían en su disco debut, dicho sea esto con todo el respeto y las precauciones de haber escuchado la obra nueva solo unas cuatro veces, pero es más que suficiente para saber que sin duda, en mi humilde opinión, este "Slayer of gods" no alcanzará la calidad compositiva del magnífico "Breathe fire to the sun", de 2011. Una prueba evidente de lo que digo, y en mi humilde opinión, desde luego, es que el tema que más me ha llamado la atención de la obra sea este "Battle for pagan might", incluido como bonus track en la edición especial, pero que es un tema perteneciente a su demo, regrabado para la ocasión y que tendría sin duda mejor cabida en su primer LP. Un tema este "Battle for pagan might" muy Ensiferum, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Finalmente algo de material nuevo de esta fantástica banda finlandesa que a mi particularmente me encanta, Brymir, con su single "For those who died", esperando que ahora sí, por fin, sea el preludio de su nuevo album. La verdad es que tras 5 años de espera desde su primer trabajo, el espectacular "Breathe fire to the sun" de 2011, dicha espera ha resultado demasiado larga, y las expectativas creadas por el gran debut del grupo ahora deben ser respondidas con una obra acorde. He de decir que quizá por la propia expectativa y el largo tiempo de espera me hubiese esperado algo más de su material nuevo, aunque por eso mismo, por el hecho de que personalmente la banda me gusta mucho, me quiero tomar mi tiempo para sacar todas las conclusiones, y a medida que voy dando escuchas al tema me va entrando más, ese es uno de los peligros de esperar tanto entre un trabajo y otro de una banda, que al final la ansiedad tanto del público al que le agrada tu material, como de los propios músicos al crear el material nuevo puede hacer que haya malas pasadas, de todas formas, ante un grupo tan digamos "hermético", o "poco currante" cualquier cosa es posible, y no será justo hacerse una idea antes de escuchar la obra en conjunto, si es que termina de llegar, al menos yo desconozco fechas e incluso título, veremos. Canciones para una vida - Brymir - Unconquerable

UNCONQUERABLE

Formados en 2006 en un campamento de verano en su Finlandia natal, Brymir surgió de hecho como una banda que hacia versiones de grandes grupos en su país, haciéndose llamar en un principio Lai Lai Hei, un buen presagio de los que puede encontrarse en su concepto musical, al menos en su primer y de momento único disco de estudio a fecha de esta reseña, aunque según han comentado recientemente en su Facebook la mezcla de su segundo disco esta ya terminada, así que debería darnos buenas noticias en breve de fechas de salida de su segunda y (al menos por mi parte) esperada obra. Su death metal melódico tiene muchos arreglos orquestales y coros épicos, siendo absolutamente la banda que a mi más me recuerda a Ensiferum. "Breathe fire to the sun", de 2011, un disco de buena factura y con grandes canciones, la verdad es que a mi me gusta muchísimo esta obra, un disco del que todas las canciones son destacables, si es que te gusta ese tipo de sonido. Ya he hablado en este blog antes de esta obra para referirme al tema "In Silence" o a "Ragnarok". Ahora quiero dejar la canción "Unconquerable", otro gran tema aunque es que a mi este disco me parece espectacular entero, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube, a la espera de volver a esta joven banda pronto y poder al fin hablar de su nuevo disco de estudio, algo que no parece terminar de suceder.

IN SILENCE

Joven banda finlandesa en la linea de Ensiferum. Brymir surgió de hecho como una banda que hacia versiones de grandes grupos en su país natal, haciendose llamar en un principio Lai Lai Hey, como la buena canción de Ensiferum lo que confirma la inegable influencia de sus compatriotas en su musica, y efectivamente eso es lo que os encontrareis si os acercais a su Breathe fire to the sun, de 2011, un disco de buena factura y con grandes canciones, se les nota la calidad a estos chicos ya que como digo este es su primer disco de estudio y si siguen esta linea antes o despues darán el salto. Quiero recomendar la canción In Silence que a mi personalmente me encanta, un gran tema que da clara muestra de la valia de Brymir que desde hace ya unos meses nos dejan la promesa en su web de la inminente realización de su segunda obra de estudio que yo espero ya con impaciencia.
