Canciones para una vida - Wintersun - Storm

STORM

Cuando lo bueno se hace esperar parece que termina por justificar la dificultad por llegar a crearlo, y la calidad parece algo que va de la mano, indiscutiblemente del músico finlandés Jari Maempaa, tanto con Wintersun como anteriormente con Ensiferum. Desde la creación de "Time I" en 2012, ha pasado más de una década hasta que el guitarrista ha logrado dar forma a su sucesor de una manera que resultase satisfactoria a su alta exigencia y el resultado de "Time II" solo podía estar a la altura. Como siempre su sonido con esa mezcla de death melódico y rasgos indiscutiblemente progresivos y virtuosos queda perfectamente plasmado en la obra, como por ejemplo a través del tema "Storm", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  WAY  OF  THE  FIRE

Hablar de Jari Maempaa es hacerlo de uno de esos músicos extraordinarios, su trayectoria así lo demuestra, pero es también hacerlo de un músico que se sale de lo común, capaz de guardar silencio durante muchos años, perdido en su concepción de un nuevo album, para derrochar después en el mismo año una casi ingente cantidad de material no publicado coincidiendo con su triunfal victoria compositiva tras vencer a sus demonios interiores de la perfección a sus propios ojos. El resultado de Time II es por lo tanto mucho más profundo de lo que una sola obra en si misma lo es, ya que ha arrastrado una gran parte de su carrera con él y esa parte oculta ha visto la luz de golpe en este 2024. Centrandonos en la obra "Time II" supone la cuarta de Wintersun, la primera tras siete años de silencio desde su anterior disco y tras doce desde la primera parte de esta obra dividida en dos "Time", en lo compositivo desde luego hará las delicias de sus fieles, este músico es especial, no cabe duda, dejo de este esperado disco uno de sus temas, "The way of the fire" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  DRAGON  SONG

Se va poco a poco aproximando la fecha de publicación del (mucho) material nuevo del genial Jari Maempaa, se ve que el largo tiempo para terminar la segunda parte de "Time" le hizo girar la mirada a otras propuestas que al finalizar finalmente dicha grabación le dieron la ocasión de editarlo además en el super Pack "Time Package" con nada menos que 17 discos, claro está, versiones instrumentales, regrabaciones, versiones distintas, singles, pero también material nuevo entre el que estará su Fantasy metal project del que dejo hoy en el blog otra de las canciones que incluirá, en este caso "The dragon song" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  STEEL  OF  THE  GODS

Wintersun, o lo que es lo mismo Jari Maempaa están de vuelta en este 2024, y como suele ser común en lo que se refiere en general a este genial músico sus presentaciones de material nuevo no son comunes, y en este caso, aprovechando que tras muchos años de esfuerzo compositivo, de pelearse consigo mismo para dar la forma deseada a su disco "Time II", sucesor de la primera parte, el músico ha decidido sacra un montón de material nuevo y no, como si sacase de repente todo el material que tenía escondido y no sacaba con el atasco de "Time II", solo esquivado con "The forest seasons" de 2017. El músico ya ha declarado su alivio tras poder decir que había terminado con "Time II" y su problema real con la obra se dio a la hora de la grabación, de llegar a todo lo que tenía en su cabeza y lograr canalizarlo en la grabación lo que le llevo a quemarse y aparcarlo. Con la llegada de agosto saldrá a la venta "Time II" y además este "Time Package" que recoge mucho material regular y adicional, incluyendo a lo largo de 12 discos la versión regular de Time II, y varias versiones diferentes de la misma obra, "The forest seasons" con variantes, canciones nuevas en versión demo y un disco que ha llamado "Fantasy metal project" con diez temas entre los que estará este "The steel of the gods" que dejo hoy en el blog, desde luego este músico se sale de lo común, en todos los sentidos, dejo un enlace a youtube de este "The steel of the gods".

THE  FOREST  THAT  WEEPS  (SUMMER)

 Tercer LP de Wintersun, o lo que es lo mismo de Jari Maempaa. Lo primero que quiero decir, realmente siempre, al referirme a cualquier música compuesta por este magnífico músico es que la calidad no está en tela de juicio, puede llenar más o menos la música escrita por este finlandés, pero la calidad brilla siempre, y una vez más ha sucedido. Desde luego, y en igual medida, siempre me parece que Jari trata de dar un paso más allá, una vuelta de tuerca compositiva más y en ocasiones eso hace que pierda eficacia para llegar a la mayoría de forma fácil, lo cual para nada supone algo negativo en sí mismo, es simplemente que digerir su sonido es algo que requiere un punto más por parte del oyente, un punto más de atención minuciosa que no todo el mundo está dispuesto a ofrecer, y es que, y particularmente en esta obra, "The Forest seasons" recientemente editada, se da una tendencia progresiva, y conceptual que se presta a ese aumento en la complejidad de sus temas, lo que a su vez se traduce en un alargamiento natural de los mismos, ya que solo se trata de cuatro canciones de en torno a un cuarto de hora cada una, pero, si uno salta ese muro previo, y decide aventurarse en las sensaciones propuestas por Wintersun, sin duda encontrará en este "The forest seasons" más de un momento placentero para sus oídos, y es que, como al inicio decía, la calidad no está en tela de juicio. Buen ejemplo es este "The forest that weeps (Summer)", todo un tobogan de sensaciones del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a youtube de su lyric video oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Wintersun - Beyond The Dark Sun

BEYOND THE DARK SUN

Hablar de Wintersun es hablar de Jari Mäempää, y por lo tanto hablar inevitablemente de Ensiferum. Formado en Finlandia, en 2003, el grupo Wintersun comienza como un proyecto paralelo de Jari Mäempää mientras tocaba en la banda Ensiferum, con la que cantó y compuso en sus dos primeros discos, ensiferum de 2001 y Iron de 2004. Ante la imposibilidad de conciliar horarios entre giras sesiones de grabación para Ensiferum y sesiones de grabación para Wintersun, Jari sale de Ensiferum siendo sustituido por Petri Lindroos, por entonces guitarra y vocalista de los también finlandeses Norther. Jari se dedica ya en cuerpo y alma solo a Wintersun sacando en 2004 su primer larga duración, este Wintersun Wintersun del que como curiosidad se tuvo que encargar de todos los instrumentos menos la bateria para grabarlo hasta encontrar músicos apropiados. No será hasta 2012, ocho años después, y ya con una formación más estable detrás, cuando sacará su segunda obra de estudio, Time I que supuestamente este año que entra verá su segunda parte al ser una obra conceptual. La música de Wintersun es Symphonic death metal melódico con algún rastro de progresividad, menos centrado en la épica que Ensiferum, pero un poco en esa línea. Quiero dejar un temazo de su primer disco Wintersun de 2004, llamado Beyond the dark sun donde se pueden comprobar las intenciones de este magnifico guitarrista y vocalista. Todo un lujo.
