ANONYMOUS

Siempre desde el principio de su carrera esta banda estadounidense me ha dado la misma impresión, la de la calidad por encima de otras consideraciones, la sensación de que quieren respetarse a si mismos como grupo, siguiendo un sendero, como es el progresivo, que encuentra menos apoyo en el gran público que otros géneros, pero poniendo ese irresistible contrapunto power para capturar más miradas, sonido elaborado, limpio, composiciones ricas y llenas de matices, y crecimiento musical que les debería dar a largo plazo buenos frutos, sobre todo si son capaces de mostrar al mundo más material, o reducir los tiempos entre obras en un mundo actual tan inmediato. Sea como fuere, "Theocracy" nos dejan en este 2023 su quinto LP de estudio lleno de buenos momentos, un gran disco como nos tienen acostumbrados, y del que dejo hoy en el blog otro de sus temas, hoy "Anonymous", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Theocracy - Mosaic

 

MOSAIC

Desconozco el motivo por el que esta banda no muestra una mayor continuidad, o mejor dicho una mayor frecuencia a la hora de editar discos, ya que la calidad que demuestra obra tras obra es innegable y da siempre esa sensación de necesidad de más, claro está, si en tus gustos está el power progresivo que practica impecablemente esta banda estadounidense, "Theocracy". Da la sensación de que la banda nos va regalando sus obras demasiado espaciadamente, y es que en más de veinte años de actividad tan solo cinco LP's de estudio, y eso contando este "Mosaic" que verá la luz este proximo mes de octubre, se antoja insificiente sobre todo por la calidad que demuestran. El caso es que en estos días nos han dejado su segundo adelanto del citado "Mosaic", concretamente el tema que dará nombre a la obra y del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

RETURN  TO  DUST

Otra de las bandas a las que acudo sin dudarlo un instante ante cualquier nueva propuesta son los estadounidenses "Theocracy", un grupo que lleva una larga trayectoria a sus espaldas ya que formaron en 2002, aunque a nivel de obras editadas solo cuentan con cuatro LP's editados, a fecha de esta reseña y el quinto que verá la luz en este mismo 2023, (para mitad de octubre), y del que empiezan a llegar muestras a través de su primer adelanto, "Return to dust" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Theocracy - Easter

 

EASTER

Otra banda de esas que se piensan mucho, pero mucho cada paso que dan son los estadounidenses "Theocracy" uno de esos grupos en los que la calidad salta a la vista, es evidente que se trata de un grupo que prefiere la calidad a la cantidad aunque a veces se me antoja demasiado larga la espera entre obra y obra. Para ilustrar lo dicho solo se necesita echar un vistazo a su discografía desde su formación en 2002 hasta hoy en día en que siguen activos han editado tan solo 4 LP's de estudio, lo que da una media de un disco por lustro. Quien conozca las andanzas de la banda sabrá que su temática en cristiana o socio religiosa, y siempre suelen ser las fechas navideñas época en la que nos regalen un poco de material extra en forma de villancico o similar, veremos si ente años toca, la última vez fue en 2019. En lo referente a su último LP hay que retrotraerse ya hasta 2016, y ese lustro casi ha pasado ya con lo que no sería raro tener noticias compositivas en breve, algo que algunos celebraríamos. Como siempre sus albumes estan compuestos en una clave power progresiva, de esquisita producción y temas en ocasiones largos y llenos de cambios, rasgo típico del metal progresivo. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de los temas de su último album publicado a fecha de esta reseña, su "Ghost Ship" de 2016, y dejo uno de esos temas largos mencionados con continuos cambios, y derroche de calidad, la canción "Easter" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Ojalá tengamos pronto noticias de un nuevo LP.

Al fin el nuevo trabajo de Theocracy, a punto de ser publicado, tras una larga espera desde 2011 en que editaron su anterior y espectacular trabajo "As the world bleeds". Hoy traigo al blog su primer adelanto "Wishing well". Theocracy es una buena banda de power metal clásico, con influencias del power cristiano sueco, de excelente factura y en la que destaca su excelente voz y su cuidada composición. esta buena banda estadounidense, cuyo sonido power metal melódico ha de sonarnos más a un grupo europeo que al tipo de power que se estila en aquel continente. Como ya hemos dicho de Theocracy, se formó en Estados Unidos en 2002 y que surgió como un proyecto de un solo músico Matt Smith que se encargaba de todos los instrumentos de la banda. Con esas condiciones sacó su primer disco de estudio en 2003 con el nombre de Theocracy como el del grupo, disco en el que se encargó de las funciones vocales, las guitarras, el bajo, los teclados y de programar la batería. Tras este alarde, decide en sus siguientes obras ir incluyendo miembros que se ocupasen de otros instrumentos. No será hasta 2008 cuando saque su segunda obra de estudio en la que dos músicos más se encargan de la guitarra y la batería. A partir de su tercera obra de estudio, "As the world bleed" ya cuenta con otros 4 músicos además de él mismo lo que le da a la banda una formación más clásica, ocupándose Matt de las funciones de vocalista, teclista y guitarra adicional. El nuevo disco de estudio, "Ghost Ship" verá la luz este próximo 28 de Octubre, y a juzgar por lo que he oído del disco promete seguir con la línea de sus anteriores trabajos, una buena noticia. LAYING THE DEMON TO REST

De nuevo volvemos a esta buena banda estadounidense, cuyo sonido power metal melódico ha de sonarnos más a un grupo europeo que al tipo de power que se estila en aquel continente. Como ya hemos dicho de Theocracy, se formó en Estados Unidos en 2002 y que surgió como un proyecto de un solo músico Matt Smith que se encargaba de todos los instrumentos de la banda. Con esas condiciones sacó su primer disco de estudio en 2003 con el nombre de Theocracy como el del grupo, disco en el que se encargó de las funciones vocales, las guitarras, el bajo, los teclados y de programar la batería. Tras este alarde, decide en sus siguientes obras ir incluyendo miembros que se ocupasen de otros instrumentos. No será hasta 2008 cuando saque su segunda obra de estudio en la que dos músicos más se encargan de la guitarra y la batería. A partir de su tercera obra de estudio, "As the world bleed" ya cuenta con otros 4 músicos además de él mismo lo que le da a la banda una formación más clásica, ocupándose Matt de las funciones de vocalista, teclista y guitarra adicional. Theocracy es una buena banda de power metal clásico, con influencias del power cristiano sueco, de excelente factura y en la que destaca su excelente voz y su cuidada composición. Hoy quiero volver un paso atrás en la carrera de esta banda para hablar de su segundo LP, "mirror of souls", de 2008,  el que como antes decía fue el primer paso para transformar a Theocracy de un proyecto de un solo músico en un grupo al menos de tres miembros. El disco enseña ya el camino que parece haber tomado esta banda como definitivo, un grupo que prima la calidad compositiva, la limpieza en su producción y el sonido de corte europeo. En este disco concreto hay una cierta propensión a los temas largos, que no pesados, pues ese aire en ocasiones progresivo, en ocasiones power speed y con algún que otro riff casi thrash nos garantiza suficiente variedad como para no cansarnos, claro ejemplo de ello es el tema que hoy quiero dejar en el blog, "Laying the demon to rest", de más de 9 minutos, con continuos cambios y calidad desde la instrumentación a la magnifica voz de Matt Smith, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Tras este alarde, decide en sus siguientes obras ir incluyendo miembros que se ocupasen de otros instrumentos. No será hasta 2008 cuando saque su segunda obra de estudio en la que dos músicos más se encargan de la guitarra y la bateria. A partir de su tercera obra de estudio, este As the world bleed ya cuenta con otros 4 músicos además de él mismo lo que le da a la banda una formación más clásica, ocupándose Matt de las funciones de vocalista, teclista y guitarra adicional. Theocracy es una buena banda de power metal clásico, con influencias del power cristiano sueco, de excelente factura y en la que destaca su excelente voz y su cuidada composición. Hoy quiero volver de nuevo, pues ya lo hice en otra ocasión hace unos meses, para referirme a su aún último disco de estudio hasta la fecha de esta reseña, con un cuidado sonido y una producción perfecta del que quiero dejar hoy en el blog otro de sus temas, en esta ocasión "30 pieces of silver", una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Un disco bastante recomendable entero la verdad. Como ya comenté en la anterior entrada de esta banda, como dato curioso encontramos en su web una serie de canciones de temática navideña para descargarse que cada año Matt Smith va añadiendo.

Os traigo al blog este disco As the world bleed de 2011 que es el mejor para mi gusto, en el que encontramos una colección de canciones que hacen que este sea un buen cd. Se trata de la tercera y última obra de estudio hasta la fecha de esta reseña y es muy recomendable, aunque tampoco debemos olvidarnos de sus primeras obras que tienen muy buenos temas. Dejo un enlace a youtube de la canción The master storyteller, un tema con mucho filo que enseguida se queda en la cabeza y que enseña el gran potencial de esta banda que puede llegar muy lejos por este camino. Como dato curioso encontramos en su web una serie de canciones de temática navideña para descargarse que cada año Matt Smith va añadiendo.
