LAW  BREAKER 

EL Décimo octavo LP de estudio de los incombustibles Grave Digger llevó por título "Healed by metal", publicado en 2017. Hablar de si es mejor o peor en este tipo de grupos es un poco absurdo, son bandas que siempre suenan a ellos mismos, una de esas bandas en las que uno recala con la intención de encontrar lo que espera encontrar, son como grupos de la familia, bandas que si te gustan te reconfortan al tener la certeza de que sonarán a ellos mismos. Es cierto que demasiada previsibilidad puede ser negativa, o incluso aburrida, pero eso ya depende más del que escucha que del que propone un sonido. Skyrider - Traveller Of Starlit Skies

TRAVELLER  OF  STARLIT  SKIES 

Otra banda que inicia en este 2026 su andadura compositiva, es la banda alemana Skyrider que deja su debut "Traveller Of Starlit Skyes" en este año, de forma oficial a la venta a partir del 1 de agosto, en un marco sonoro de heavy metal de corte clásico y según la banda con unas un fondo doom. El primero de los adelantos es el tema que da nombre a la obra "Traveller of Starlit Slies" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Attacker - Revelations Of Evil

REVELATIONS  OF  EVIL 

Menudo inicio de carrera tuvieron los estadounidenses Attacker, claro está, hablamos de la década de los ochenta y de su escena más underground, sobre todo fuera de Estados Unidos no eran muy conocidos y en realidad tampoco allí, era eso, la atestada escena internacional en la que muchas bandas luchaban por salir pero solo unas pocas lo lograban. Formados en 1984, publican su debut en 1985, algo justitos de tiempo atendiendo a su propuesta compositiva de heavy metal de la vieja escuela, ya comenzaba a derivar el sonido en otras corrientes más de moda. Su continuación, aún en una época más complicada, 1988, seguía la misma argumentación compositiva, lo que pudo explicar su prematura desaparición en principio, ya que el grupo tendrá, y tiene una segunda etapa de actividad desde 2001, con un enfoque más heavy power. Evermore - Nightstar Odyssey

NIGHTSTAR  ODYSSEY 

Otra buena banda, de las que se han quedado un poco en un segundo plano pero que llevan una ascendente trayectoria siempre, desde el inicio basada en la calidad, pero sin duda, su carrera aún joven (formados en 2016), de seguir en esta línea debería dar al grupo todas las merecidas oportunidades y el reconocimiento que merecen. "Mournbraid" es el tercer capitulo del grupo, publicado hace unos meses (marzo), y demuestra esa línea ascendente, con cada vez una mejor producción y una excelente capacidad compositiva. Otra demostración por ejemplo es la canción "Nightstar Odyssey" un tema muy en la onda de Edguy, y de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Aldaria - Guardians Of The Light

GUARDIANS  OF  THE  LIGHT 

Otro proyecto alejado del a priori sonido más "oscuro" típico de la escena noruega, se trata de Aldaria, cuyo motor es el músico multi instrumentista Frode Hovd, que forma Aldaria en 2014 para publicar su única obra de estudio a fecha de esta reseña "Land Of Light" en 2017, desde entonces silencio solo roto por un single en 2025. Power metal melódico, un poco helloweenero, en esa onda a veces happy tipo también Freedom Call. Highland Glory - Spirit Of Salvation

SPIRIT  OF  SALVATION 

No es lo más habitual que una banda noruega suene tan digamos "Sueca" en terrenos Power o Europower, este es el caso de Highland Glory, un grupo con una larga trayectoria en un par de épocas, entre 2001, año de su formación y 2017, años de su separación, para luego en este 2026 rearmarse aunque, a fecha de esta reseña no tengo noticia de material nuevo ni siquiera en formato single. Pero es siempre buena idea recuperar algo del material pasado del grupo, así, de entre sus tres LP's publicados hasta la fecha quiero recuperar una de las canciones de su segundo disco "Forever Endeavour" de 2005, en concreto la canción "Spirit of salvation" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Dreamtale - Tale Of Dreams

 

TALE  OF  DREAMS 

Hasta el último día del mes de julio no saldrá de forma oficial el nuevo disco de estudio de los finlandeses Dreamtale, "Aetherbound". La banda parece estar viviendo uno de sus mejores momentos (desde la incorporación de varios miembros desde 2019 en eadelante), parece que han encontrado una identidad mayor, y un sonido con mayor capacidad para llegar a grandes masas, más eficaces por lo tanto. Valtari - The Final Call

THE  FINAL  CALL 

Otro caso más de banda cuyo motor e impulsor es un solo músico que se encarga de todo, es este caso el australiano Marty Warren que crea Valtari en 2010 en un marco sonoro de death melódico, siempre autoproducido, pero hay que tener en cuenta que la ausencia de apoyo discográfico no ha hecho resentirse la calidad de su propuesta. De momento, a fecha de esta reseña, Valtari ha publicado un total de cinco LP's de estudio etre 2012 y 2025. Solstice - To Ride With Tyr

 

TO  RIDE  WITH  TYR 

Los britanicos Solstice son un grupo formado en 1990 que han apostado por el sonido doom de vocación épica, una banda que ha tenido dos periodos de actividad, entre 1990 y 2002 y desde 2007 hasta la actualidad, sin embargo, a pesar del largo periodo de actividad, tan solo tres LP's de estudio a los que sumar tres EP's más conforman su discografía, una discografía que paradojicamente está llena de recopilatorios. En 1996 publicaban su segundo material de estudio, en esta ocasión en formato EP, "Halcyon" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog su canción "To ride with Tyr", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Es evidente a estas alturas de la película que los alemanes Accept son uno de los grandes por méritos propios, por su carácter pionero, por continuidad, por calidad y claro, por propuesta compositiva, y también por sobreponerse a sus peores momentos, de forma actualmente brillante, por todo ello son una de esas pocas bandas que pueden con orgullo celebras medio siglo en activo y se han ganado por derecho entre otras cosas esta humilde reseña de un tema antiguo, ya traído al blog en su momento, pero ahora reforzado con la participación de otro gigante, Rob Halford, se trata de su clásico "Balls to the wall" del que dejo un enlace a youtube de esta versión celebradora de su trayectoria.

Runic - Last Days Of Agraphur Ambush + Lost Empire

LAST  DAYS  OF  AGRAPHUR  AMBUSH + LOST EMPIRE 

La década de los 2000 fue una época excelente para la explosión definitiva y global del death melódico sobre todo con aire folk nórdico, fueron además muchas las bandas que decidieron subirse a este tren a pesar de ser originarios de países alejados de Escandinavia, entre ellos Runic, una banda española formada en 2000 y que solo dejo una muestra de su capacidad a través de "Liar Flags" publicado en 2006, un disco que despertó una gran acogida por parte de la crítica incluida la producción que les auguraba un brillante futuro, pero que luego se quedaría en solo un disco. De esta obra dejo hoy en el blog las dos partes de su tema "Last days of Agraphur" la parte I Ambush y la II Lost Empire, de las que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Lucid Dreaming - Confederation

 

CONFEDERATION 

Sin ninguna duda en pleno momento de consolidación, la banda alemana Lucid Dreaming, banda unida a un nombre, el guitarrista Till Oberbobel que se encarga de todo en el grupo, una banda acostumbrada a las colaboraciones para complementar su propuesta compositiva. Formado en 2012 el grupo ha publicado tres LP's de estudio en 2013, 2017 y 2020 respectivamente y en este 2026 ha visto la luz su cuarto LP, "Upon the barricades" cuya salida oficial ocurrió este recién pasado 10 de julio. Power metal de temática famtástica con nombres colaborando de la categoría de Ralf Scheepers, Blaze Bayley en funciones vocales en su primera canción "Confederation" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Helloween - Final Fortune

 

FINAL  FORTUNE 

En 2007 los alemanes Helloween sacaban a la venta su décimo tercer LP de estudio "Gambling with the devil", un disco en el que la crítica ensalza particularmente el apartado vocal de Deris, señalándolo como una de sus mejores obras en la banda. La verdad es que Helloween es una de esas bandas con mayúsculas, de esas de las que sus peores momentos compositivos son la envidia de muchos, y siempre arrastran opiniones, se les mira todo y suelen contestar con hechos, de este disco dejo hoy en el blog la canción "Final Fortune" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

UPPHAF 

Nuevo material de estudio de los suecos Amon Amarth a través de un single que se supone preludio de un nuevo LP. La particularidad de este nuevo tema reside en que se trata de una canción acústica, la primera publicada por la banda en su carrera lo que servirá sin duda alguna a los detractores del grupo como argumento por el cambio estilístico de la banda desde hace ya muchas obras alejandose de extremos y acercando su sonido a muchos más fans, algo que habrán sin duda notado en sus cuentas corrientes. La canción lleva por nombre "Upphaf" y de ella dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.
