Los suecos Prime Creation son una banda con una década de historia ya a sus espaldas y tres LP's de estudio publicados a fecha de esta reseña, el cuarto de su discografía se espera para este 2026, (junio). Estamos ante un power que se aleja un poco del estereotipo sueco al uso, con un cierto baño de modernidad, cuidada producción como es sello de la casa sueca y los que les han visto en vivo destacan su buen hacer y energía sobre el escenario. Horizon - Rock This Place

 

ROCK  THIS  PLACE 

Otra vez la historia tantas veces repetida en la década de los ochenta, una banda fuera de los focos, en este caso de la escena holandesa, que intenta en la primera parte de la década sacar la cabeza a través de su único LP de estudio publicado en 1985, luego, silencio y separación en el más absoluto anonimato a pesar de lo demostrado en su trabajo publicado, era la escena saturada de los ochenta, cruel ya que sin apoyo discográfico era casi imposible destacar, como aquí ocurrió, otra de tantas veces. La banda Horizon, su disco "Master of the game", el marco sonoro heavy metal, con aire melódico, bordenado el hard 'n heavy en muchos momentos, la canción para hoy "Rock this place" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Speed Queen - Showdown

SHOWDOWN 

Activos desde 2014, los belgas Speed Queen han esparado más de una década para publicar su debut en formato LP "...with a bang" el pasado 2025, un disco en una clave clásica speedica que muestra todo lo que se puede esperar de una tesitura compositiva como esa. La banda había publicado en 2017 y 2020 dos EP's que ya les habían puesto en el mapa y este primer LP no hace otra cosa que confirmar su buen hacer y abrirles de par en par un buen futuro. Los finlandeses After Infinity enpezaron con grandes sensaciones su carrera a través de su debut en formato LP "After Infinity" de 2024, buenas críticas y buena aceptación general de su power metal. Sanctum Pyre - Behold The Thrones

BEHOLD  THE  THRONES 

Siguiendo con el buen estado de forma de la escena griega, aunque en este caso sea un proyecto solo en parte griego, (también sueco), quiero traer al blog a la banda Sanctum Pyre, otro grupo de reciente formación con miembros de Battle Symphony (En lo guitarristico y teclista) y Mentalist (En lo vocal), hablamos de un heavy power metal, de una cierta tendencia épica. Battleroar - What Is Best In Life

WHAT  IS  BEST  IN  LIFE 

Redundando en la suerte que tienen los griegos con su escena natal, otra de sus bandas clásicas, Battleroar, quienes llevaban ya ocho años de silencio desde su anterior obra, hoy mismo ha salido de forma oficial a la venta su nuevo LP de estudio, "Petrichor" que es el sexto disco de su discografía. Como no podía ser de otra manera la épica de espada ilumina sus letras al igual que lo hacen sus compatriotas Crystal Winds recién reseñados en este blog, y en ambos casos la referencia lírica de las canciones propuestas a la figura literaria de Conan El Barbaro me hace imposible no sumergirme en ambas canciones. Crystal Winds - King Of Steel

KING  OF  STEEL 

Otra muestra más de la capacidad y cantidad de la escena griega, siempre gustando de ese aire épico, ese concepto ultra heavy donde las espadas mandan en lo lírico. Crystal Winds es una de esas bandas nuevas-viejas, es decir, formadas hace mucho tiempo ya, (1999) pero que no han comenzado a publicar material en condiciones hasta hace poco, (2021 en formato LP, antes, en 2016 en formato EP). Poco más que añadir, su segundo LP "Long live the king" verá la luz de forma oficial en mayo y de él dejo hoy en el blog su canción "KLing Of Steel" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Castle Well - He Comes Alive

 

HE  COMES  ALIVE 

Nuevamente una banda en general desconocida para el gran público en el blog, hoy los alemanes Castle Well, poseedores de un heavy metal de regusto clásico, quizá esa sea una de las razones de su anonimato general, se decantaron por el sonido adecuado en la época errónea, la década de los noventa, en que desarrollan los comienzos de su aventura no eran el mejor momento para una propuesta como esa, solo un puñado de bandas lograron sobrevivir a esa década sin cambiar su propuesta heavy metálica clásica, pero claro, al llegar ese momento de cambio ya eran grandes nombres asentados, intentarlo de cero en esa onda musical era más bien un suicidio si querías asomar la cabeza en la escena internacional, independientemente de tu calidad. Lightmare - Rebellion

 

REBELLION

Que enorme disco sacaron en 1997 los alemanes Lightmare, el único de su carrera que se extendió durante toda la década de los noventa. Un estilo a medio camino del heavy metal y el power metal, con un sonido muy de esos años. La banda no llegó a explotar de manera internacional, pero muchos de los momento de este "The Fool", título de su LP dejan claro que mimbres para haber llegado muy alto tenían sin duda, por ejemplo a través del temazo "Rebellion" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Otra banda alemana, bastante desconocida en general, Letter X, otro de esos grupos que dejaron una carrera breve pero con un innegable potencial plasmado en esta ocasión en tres LP's de estudio entre 1991 y 1996. Con un sonido lleno de guiños y bebiendo de lo que les apetecía, a veces del heavy metal, otras del hard rock e incluso con un cierto aire progresivo. IN  THE  NIGHT 

Vuelta a la escena europea ochentera para descubrir otra banda más de las que permanecieron fuera de la vista general, editando solo una obra, a inicios de los ochenta y en clave de heavy metal clásico, en esta ocasión de la escena alemana, el grupo se llamaba Hardware, formados en 1982 y separados una década después, su único LP "Common Time Heroes" publicado en 1984, y de él dejo hoy en el blog su canción "In the night" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Non Iron - Candles And Rain

CANDLES  AND  RAIN 

Non Iron, una de esas bandas underground ochenteras, (en este caso polaca) de las que poco o nada sabe la mayor parte de los metalheads y que sin embargo son otro claro ejemplo de grupo que a pesar de su tremendo potencial no ha llegado siquiera a asomar la cabeza en la atestada escena de la época que además contaba con limitadisimos medios de autopromoción, algo que actualmente ha mejorado mucho. Solo un LP en inglés, además de uno anterior en polaco y un directo posterior son su legado en un periodo de actividad entre finales de los ochenta e inicios de los 90, además de su reactivación en los últimos años que de momento no ha cuajado en material nuevo de estudio. En 1990 sacaban "Candles and rain" su disco en inglés, ocho temas de entre los que dejo el que da nombre a la obra y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall - Ready Or Not

Claro ejemplo de como llevar bien un proyecto personal este del sueco Magnus Karlsson, con una carrera llena de participaciones, de pertenencia a bandas unas menos conocidas y otras conocidas por todos, así nombres como Primal Fear, The Ferrymen, on nombres propios como Kiske, Somervilla o Russell Allen hablan de un músico de primera línea, inquieto y capaz, que en 2011 comienza su andadura en solitario bajo su propio nombre y su "Free Fall", siempre en una línea melódica, heavy power, cuidada y con grandes colaboraciones labradas con su participación en tantas bandas y proyectos. De su debut en solitario de 2013 quiero hoy dejar en el blog otra de sus canciones, "Ready Or Not", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Einherjer - Bloodborn

 

BLOODBORN 

Cinco añitos ya llevaba la banda noruega Einherjer sin anunciarnos un nuevo disco de estudio, algo que este 2026 deja de ser así ya que el grupo saca en junio "Lifeblood", el que será su décimo ya LP de estudio siempre con su reconocible estilo vikingo. El primero de los adelantos de la obra es la canción que abre la misma, "Bloodborn", un tema del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Burning Point - Walls Of Stone

WALLS  OF  STONE 

Seguimos adentrándonos en la discografía de los finlandeses Burning Point, con ese sonido melódico, a medio camino entre el power metal y el heavy hard, siempre con la cuidada producción y el gusto por las melodías pegadizas, hoy para rescatar su cuarto LP de estudio "Empyre" de 2009, un disco que cumple con los estandares de power de corte europeo, y precisamente por ello se la ha clasificado como predecible, poco arriesgado o innovador, pero siempre pienso lo mismo en estas ocasiones, si uno quiere este sonido, lo tiene, no hay nada malo en ello, aunque muchos se apresuren a criticarlo.
