Eternal Winter - Initiation

 

INITIATION 

Son varias las bandas que han intentado una carrera bajo el nombre de Eternal Winter, una de ellas esta banda estodounidense que hoy traigo al blog. Formados en 2002, el grupo ha permanecido en un segundo plano durante toda su carrera que además no se ha prodigado mucho en lo que a publicación de obras se refiere. En sus primeros doce años de existencia solo tres EP's publicados, en los siguientes doce, tres LP's, incluyendo este tercero del que hoy dejo una de sus canciones en el blog, "Cosmic Blood, Cosmic Grail", publicado el dos de febrero y del que dejo en el blog su canción "Initiation" que como su nombre indica da comienzo a la obra, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Dream Evil - Fire Battle In Metal

FIRE  BATTLE  IN  METAL 

El cuarto album de estudio de los suecos Dream Evil fue un punto de inflexión en la carrera de la banda, fue el primero que publica la banda tras la salida de parte de los miembros fundadores como Gus G o Snowy Shaw, fue pues una adaptación a la nueva formación manteniendo ese equilibrio entre lo viejo y eficaz, ya que los inicios de la banda deslumbraron a la escena del momento, y los cambios en la formación de bandas aun no del todo asentadas pueden resultar traumaticos tanto para las bandas como para sus fans. El caso es que el grupo tras esta obra perdió la continuidad y con ella el hipotético asalto a la cima que sus comienzos hacían barruntar. Primeros ecos del quinto album de estudio de los suecos Tungsten que en este 2026 tendría muchas papeletas para ser publicado si tenemos en cuenta su ritmo compositivos de aproximadamente un album cada dos años. Wizard - Defenders Of Metal

DEFENDERS  OF  METAL 

Los germanos Wizard, para inicios de los 2000 seguían apuntando a una suerte de heavy metal clásico unido a una actitud true metalera con todos los clichés de ambas perspectivas, y en 2001 publicaban su cuarto LP de estudio "Head of the deceiver". Todo queda ya plasmado en su portada, estaba claro que habían tomado el sendero "manowaristico" y su ritmo compositivo era alto, cuatro discos entre 1995 y 2001. Volviendo a esta cuarta obra de estudio, quiero hoy dejar en el blog otro de sus ejercicios de defensa del "metal" con actitud, ya desde el propio título se dice todo, "defenders of metal" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Power Paladin - Glade Lords Of Athel Loren

GLADE  LORDS  OF  ATHEL  LOREN

Los islandeses Power Paladin ya dejaron un gran sabor de boca a través de su debut de 2022, y parecen haberse tomado con tranquilidad sacar su segundo album que llega en este 2024 "Beyond the reach of enchantment" que verá la luz en el mes de marzo. En estos días nos dejan su segundo adelanto, "Glade lords of Athel Loren", que sigue la senda europower de su anterior obra y de su primer adelanto de la segunda con la promesa de gustar a aquellos a quienes conquistara el sonido de su debut. Beto Vazquez Infinity - The Battle Of The Past

 

 

THE  BATTLE  OF  THE  PAST 

 

 

La parte final de los 90 y los comienzos de los 2000 fueron terreno abonado para bandas de power con muchos arreglos, con muchas colaboraciones, sin duda el éxito cosechado por Avantasia con su concepto opera rock abrió las puertas de par en par a ese tipo de obras que se multiplicaron por muchas partes del globo. Otro grupo que se contagió un poco de ese concepto fue Beto Vazquez Infinity, de Argentina, con un power ciertamente enganchón que ponía cara a muchas de sus canciones a través de vocalistas conocidos. En 2001, la banda publicaba su debut en formato LP "Beto Vazquez Infinity", poniendose en el mapa internacional por ejemplo con temas como este "The battle of the past", reciclado de su primer EP "Battle of Valmourt" pero con la inclusión a la voz del por entonces codiciado Fabio Lione", un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

SPIRITS  OF  WAR 

More, otro grupo más de los pioneros de la NWOBHM que decide reactivarse tras una larguísimo silencio de cuatro décadas (y pico), para demostrar lo que apenas si pudieron en una carrera cercenada prematuramente que ha hecho a la banda poseedora de ese estatus mitico para muchos, solo dos discos de estudio conformaban su discografía, (1981 y 1982), algo que en este 2026 será subsanado a través de "Destructor", cuya salida oficial se espera para primeros del mes de marzo, y del que nos dejan ya su adelanto "Spirits of war" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Cromlech - Ave Mortis

 

AVE  MORTIS 

De nuevo hoy hablamos de un nombre escogido por varias bandas para intentar su aventura musical, en este caso Cromlech, y de entre esas bandas hoy quiero referirme a la canadiense, que enmarcaba su sonido en un doom épico, ya que se separaron en 2023 tras algo más de una década en activo (desde 2011), tras la salida del miembro fundador y el cambio de nombre del grupo a Mormegil decidido por los cuatro miembros restantes,  y concretamente quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su debut de 2013 "Ave mortis", en concreto el tema instrumental que abre dicho disco y que lo da nombre, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Fili Bibiano's Fortress - Night City

NIGHT  CITY 

Muchas son las bandas que han escogido el nombre de Fortress para desarrollar su carrera musical, hoy quiero referirme a una de las también varias bandas estadounidenses que lo han hecho, en concreto a la impulsada por el guitarrista Filiberto Bibiano, que puntualmente pasase por la más conocida banda Witherfall entre los años 2017 y 2018. En 2016 nace el grupo y en 2018 comienza a publicar material, en ese año en formato EP, luego, a fecha de esta reseña, dos LP's de estudio dan forma a su discografía, el segundo de ellos de este 2026, casi recién publicado este pasado 31 de enero. Heavy metal de cierto regusto clásico, un poquito recordando a ese hard'n heavy ochenterote, del que dejo hoy en el blog, de su segunda obra "Death is your master" la canción "Night city" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Wizard - Angel Of Death

ANGEL  OF  DEATH 

Vamos ahora con los veteranos alemanes Wizard, otra banda de las que quedan relegadas a un segundo plano a pesar de la ya extensa discografía que arrastran a sus espaldas y que está llena de momentos como mínimo resultones, quizá no sea una banda de discos completos que pueda llegar a hacerse un tanto monótonos, pero si encontramos canciones destacables en todas sus doce obras en formato LP que de momento, a fecha de esta reseña, constituyen su discografía. Ya llevan en silencio compositivo desde 2021, buen momento para repasar alguna de sus obras, por ejemplo la décima de ellas, "Trail of death" de 2013, y de la que dejo hoy en el blog su cancioón "Angel of death" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Otra banda más que da sus primeros pasos con la promesa de grandes cosas solo a través de su único single a fecha de esta reseña, se trata de los noruegos Legendaria a traves de su canción "Brothers" publicada a finales del pasado mes de enero. Hablamos de power metal, de corte europeo, para nada oscuro, como la escena natal de la banda suele aconsejar, se trata de un europower muy de sus vecinos suecos por ejemplo, muy nórdico, muy eficaz por lo tanto, esperemos que sea solo el preludio de un disco en formato LP de proxima publicación que actualmente desconozco. Conorach - The Oaken Shield

THE  OAKEN  SHIELD 

Conorach fue una banda de power folk metal holandesa que estuvo en activo desde 2007 hasta 2021 en que se disolvieron. Solo dos LP's de estudio conforman su discografía, el primero de ellos en 2008 "Tales from the tavern" y el segundo de 2014 "Through the ages". Con un sonido que a muchos que desconaozcan a la banda les sorprenderá por lo afilado de su propuesta que sin duda hubiese merecido mayor premio en lo referente al reconocimiento general. Vandor - One With The Night

 

ONE  WITH  THE  NIGHT

Parece que los suecos Vandor siguen dando pasos adelante en su carrera iniciada hace poco más de una década (2015), y a través de su tercer LP de estudio "The ember eye part II, the portal of truth" continúan con su concepto lírico que les acompaña a lo largo de su carrera, afilando la parte musical cada vez más hacia ese tipo de europower enganchón, en este tercer disco con más filo que nunca. MIDSUMMER  NIGHT 

Los finlandeses Korpiklaani son otra de esas bandas de marcada personalidad compositiva, muy reconocibles en cada una de sus obras y pudiendoseles considerar ya como una banda veterana puesto que se formaron en 2003 y han publicado ya, a fecha de esta reseña, 12 LP's de estudio, el tercero de los cuales, "Tales along this road" lo publican en 2006, y de dicha obra quiero hoy dejar en el blog su canción "Midsummer Night" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Completa sensación de crecimiento del proyecto "Angus McSix", tras su debut espectacular de 2023 que en este 2026 tendrá continuidad con "Angus McSix and the all seeing eye" que verá la luz de forma oficial en el mes de marzo. Desde luego contar en una banda con Seeb Levermann es ya de por si una garantía de calidad, y si salvamos el problema del "pluriempleo" compositivo del genial músico, el resultado solo puede ser bueno, veremos hasta donde llega este barco, de momento promete.
