Se aproxima el 18 de septiembre, fecha de salida del nuevo disco de Kai Hansen bajo su propio nombre, que llevará por título "Born with a hammer", y del que deja un nuevo adelanto, siempre con el inevitable tufillo a Gamma Ray, (banda de la que no sabemos nada compositivamente hablando desde hace ya demasiado tiempo, imagino que más complicado cada vez si además de re enrolarse en Helloween se dedica a sacar material como Hansen) "Welcome to life" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su lyric video oficial.

Battlelore - Bow And Helm

 

       

 BOW  AND  HELM 

Los finlandeses Battlelore reactivaron su carrera en 2016 tras su descanso en 2011, después de su sexto album de estudio "Doombound", algo que cogió por sorpresa a todos sus seguidores, ya que la banda para nada parecía acusar un bajón ni nada por el estilo. Desde su retorno en 2016 un séptimo LP en 2022 que devolvía la ilusión a sus seguidores aunque de nuevo han pasado ya cuatro años desde ese momento. Volviendo a su penúltima obra, "Doombound de 2011, quiero hoy dejar en el blog su canción "Bow and helm" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Living Fast - Templars Fall

TEMPLAR'S  FALL 

El filón del sonido clásico en pleno siglo XXI sigue plenamente de moda, en cualquier escena, y una de las que tradicionalmente en los ochenta lideraban el movimiento, la estadounidense, sigue en la actualidad cultivándolo y sacando nuevas bandas, como es el caso de Living Fast, banda creada en 2024 que en este 2026 ha visto su debut en formato LP, ya que en 2024 publicaron su primer material en forma EP. El disco de este 2026 lleva por título "Running across steel" y de él dejaron fuera una canción "Templar's Fall" que ahora publican como single independiente. Heavy metal speedico, furioso y honesto del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Wolfpakk - Land Of Wolves

LAND  OF  WOLVES 

El último LP publicado por la banda alemana Wolfpakk, a fecha de esta reseña, sigue siendo "Nature Strikes Back" de 2020, así pues ya seis años de silencio compositivo empieza a resultar demasiado para permanecer en la memoria de la mayoría en estos tiempos que vivimos de pura inmediatez. Deberían retomar la actividad en este aspecto porque en general la banda repleta de colaboraciones tiene un elevado nivel, y en esta última obra publicada vuelven a elevarlo respecto del anterior, sobre todo en el tono medio general de la obra. De ella dejo hoy en el blog uno de los temas que más me gustan de ella, "Land of wolves" con Mats Leven, otro gran nombre, en funciones vocales.Dejo un enlace a youtube.

Thy Legacy - Metal Legion

 

METAL  LEGION 

De vuelta a la escena griega a través de "Thy Legacy", una escena que está recogiendo los frutos de los muchos años que llevan haciendo franca,ente bien las cosas, que han sabido crear cantera, y las bandas en la actualidad surgen de forma natural y constante al calor del éxito cosechado por sus mayores. Siguiendo esa tradición sonora de su propia escena, también cultivado por ejemplo en la italiana, este sonido es ese "true epic" heavy metal de raíces clásicas. El 11 de septiembre de este 2026 verá la luz su debut "The Call" del que nos dejan ya su adelanto "Metal Legion" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Desperado - Son Of A Gun

 

SON  OF  A  GUN 

Años complicados, como ya es sabido, los del final de los ochenta hasta más que mediados los 90 para el heavy metal, justo hasta la irrupción de esa nueva concepción del sonido heavy mucho más arreglado y adornado, lustroso, reinventado en Power metal, desvirtuado al hacerlo desde la propia concepción de ese sonido, directo, sin aditivos y honesto. Así que encontrar obras en ese arco de tiempo se hace complicado sin caer el las nuevas tendencias de esos años. Y cayendo hoy yo, un poco en la vertiente hard n heavy, traigo al blog a la banda estadounidense "Desperado", un experimento mono disco del músico Dee Snider de Twisted Sister, tras ruptura temporal de estos y antes de su reunión de nuevo. El único fruto de esta banda fue el disco "Bloodied but unbowed" de 1996 del que dejo el tema "Son of a gun", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Dragonland - Survival Of Mankind

SURVIVAL  OF  MANKIND 

Prácticamente se puede suscribir todo lo dicho en la entrada anterior respecto a la banda Axenstar con Dragonland, otra banda sueca, también en clave de europower, igualmente en la escena, el momento (finales de los 90 inicios de los 2000) idóneos para desarrollar su carrera y su planteamiento compositivo, e igualmente relegados a un segundo plano a pesar de todo. En este 2026 el grupo publicará su séptimo LP de estudio "Prophecies" (oficialmente el 23 de octubre), y de él nos dejan su primer adelanto "Survival of mankind" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Axenstar - Dead Kingdom

DEAD  KINGDOM 

La quinta obra de estudio de los suecos Axenstar lleva por título "Aftermath" y es una buena manera de ilustrar lo incomprensible de que un grupo de esta talla no haya alcanzado mayores logros en terreno de reconocimiento, y es que hay bandas que parecen condenadas a un segundo plano hagan lo que hagan, independientemente de otro tipo de cuestiones, como la calidad o los méritos en comparación con otros fgrupos más reconocidos. Hablando de Power, la época (inicios de los 2000), el estilo, Power, o Europower, y su escena natal, la sueca parecen ese combo que debería haber otorgado mayor fortuna a su carrera con ya ocho LP's de estudio a sus espaldas, sino, temas como este "Dead Kingdom" de su citado quinto LP de 2011, no deberían tener explicación, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Tras su disco de versiones de este 2026, los alemanes muestran su excelente estado de forma con un nuevo album en este mismo año, "Deathbringer", cuya salida oficial se espera para el 13 de noviembre. Será ya su décimo séptimo LP de estudio, lo que habla de la magnitud ya de esta banda. Para la ocasión estrenan discográfica (Frontiers). FIRESTORM 

Una de las bandas que encabezaron el renacimiento del heavy metal cláscio como tal en plena segunda década del siglo XXI fueron estos suecos "Ambush", recobrando ese concepto eficaz, honesto pero sin renegar de la calidad productiva porque a diferencia de las bandas de segunda línea en los ochenta que apenas tenían medios a su alcance, hoy en día incluso las propias bandas a nivel auto producción tienen unas enormes posibilidades a las que echar mano.Recobremos pues el tema que daba nombre a su debut y que lo abría allá por 2014, "Firestorm" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Amon Amarth - Gjallarhorn

 

GJALLARHORN 

"Gjallarhorn" es el tema de presentación de su nuevo album para la banda sueca Amon Amarth, "The allfathers awakens", cuya fecha oficial de publicación será el 2 de octubre. Es el tema de presentación en referencia al anterior tema "Upphaf" en que la banda hacía una incursión en un sonido más acústico de lo que acostumbra, y este "Gjallarhorn" es más lo que uno tiene interiorizado del grupo, sobre todo en los últimos LP's, donde el sonido es más accesible al gran público de lo que solía ser en los inicios de la carrera de la banda. Wolfpakk - Falling

 

FALLING 

El proyecto - banda germano (o internacional podríamos decir atendiendo al elevado número de invitados internacionales que participan), Wolfpakk, nace en 2010 uniendo las fuerzas de dos músicos asentados como son Michael Voss, cantante y guitarrista unido a nombres como Mad Max o Bonfire entre otros, y Mark Sweeney, de Crystal Ball, cantante, con una pretensión de heavy melódico, cayendo en el Hard Rock melódico igualmente, con una calidad que se les supone, y que cumplen, pero con unas expectativas que en ocasiones no terminan de cumplir, como en el caso de esta su cuarta obra de estudio "Wolves Reign", que ya sea por las citadas expectativas que venían despertando en las anteriores obras, sea por falta de innovación en su sonido, y a pesar de los buenos momentos que se encuentran en la obra, parecen no terminar de cuajar a medida que esta avanza. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones del disco que más eleva el tono medio del mismo, la canción con la que lo abren, "Falling", y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Ironflame - Firestorm

 

FIRESTORM 

Otro grupo de esos que casi imperceptiblemente van cumpliendo años de actividad, (ya desde 2016) son los estadounidenses Ironflame, un grupo en una onda prototípica del heavy metal de la vieja escuela americano. En estos diez años de actividad la verdad es que la banda no ha perdido el tiempo habiendo publicado ya seis LP's de estudio si incluimos el sexto "Worlds to conquer" que está a puntito de ver la luz de forma oficial y del que en breve dejaré sin duda algún tema en el blog, pero hoy me quiero fijar en el otro extremo de su carrera, en el debut, y de ese disco inicial "Lightning strikes the crown" de 2017, quiero dejar su tema "Firestorm" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
