Sabaton - Yamato

 

YAMATO 

Los tiempos que corren hacen que uno deba ser muy visible a los potenciales fans, es un momento de fugacidad, todo va muy rápido y la oferta es casi ilimitada, así que las bandas recurren cada vez más a los singles entre obras, casi ciclicamente y Sabaton son maestros en eso. La excusa en esta ocasión para el single "Yamato" de este 2026 es la colaboración con el videojuego "World of warships" en el que el propio Joachim Broden resulta ser un jugador elegible para el juego. Rough Silk - Roots Of Hate

ROOTS  OF  HATE 

Otra banda más de esas a las que se les ha dejado en un segundo plano, de manera más que injusta, otro de esos grupos que han luchado contra los elementos para mantenerse a flote, y a pesar de todos los contratiempos han sabido dejar su sello de calidad a través de su discografía, son los alemanes Rough Silk. Formados en 1989, el grupo ha atravesado varios periodos de actividad a lo largo de su historia, y su primer periodo les llevó hasta 2004. Su primer LP "Roots of Hate" se publicaba en 1993, un estupendo trabajo en clave de heavy metal, con grandes destellos melódicos y algunos progresivos, de la citada obra quiero dejar hoy en el blog la canción que la da nombre y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Battleroar - The Missing Note

THE  MISSING  NOTE 

Parecía muy atascada la carrera de los griegos Battleroar que llevaban ya ocho años de silencio desde su anterior LP de estudio publicado "Codex Epicus" de 2018, pero en este 2026 parecen activarse con su primer adelanto de lo que será su sexto disco "Petrichor" cuya salida oficial se espera para finales de abril. Derdian - Lord Of War

 

LORD  OF  WAR 

Derdian es el enésimo grupo italiano nacido al calor del éxito de sus compatriotas Rhapsody, en este caso de comienzo algo más tardío, ya que aunque se forman en 1998 no comienzan a publicar material hasta 2005, pero el influjo es innegable. En 2016 la banda publicaba su séptimo LP de estudio aunque no se si se debería considerar como LP en sí ya que se trata de un recopilatorio de sus tres primeras obras, regrabadas con invitados de primera línea para la ocasión y con tan solo un tema nuevo "Lord Of War" con Fabio Lione, uno de esos mercenarios musicales colaboradores compulsivos que en este concepto compositivo queda absolutamente perfecto, un tema del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Rozario - We Are One

Otra banda más de reciente formación que va dando pasos adelante en su carrera son los noruegos Rozario, en una clave de heavy metal melódico, con rasgos hard, con ese regusto clásico ochentero. Omen - Hammer Damage

HAMMER  DAMAGE 

La banda estadounidense Omen es una de esas bandas consideradas de culto para muchos, dentro del marco del heavy metal de la vieja escuela y de inspiración épica. Claro está que hablamos de la década de los ochenta, y claramente también la falta de constancia con los diversos parones ha hipotecado una carrera que podría haber alcanzado cotas mucho más elevadas. En total siete LP's de estudio, a fecha de esta reseña, es su legado compositivo entre 1983 y la actualidad en que parecen seguir en activo pero sin publicar material de estudio desde 2016 en que publicaban "Hammer Damage", séptimo LP, del que hoy dejo en el blog el tema que le da nombre, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Leatherwitch - Beast Inside

BEAST  INSIDE 

La frontwoman de la banda polaca Crystal viper, que se disolvió el pasado 2025, sigue su carrera creando ahora la banda Leatherwitch. poco ha trascendido de la separación del grupo tras dos décadas de actividad, pero lo cierto es que ahora la nueva banda que nace Leatherwitch cuenta con algún ex miembro de Crystal Viper además de la carismática lider Marta Gabriel que perpetúa en gran medida el sonido que venía mostrando Crystal Viper ahora en Leatherwitch cuya presentación se está haciendo estos días a través del single "Beast inside" del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Therion - Crowning Of Atlantis

THE  CROWNING  OF  ATLANTIS 

Cuando los grandes nombres, las grandes bandas están en lo más alto, en su mejor momento, siempre parece oportuno, sobre todo a sus discográficas, aprovecharlo para exprimir ese momento al máximo. Con los suecos Therion, la década de los noventa fue uno de esos hitos en su carrera, y tras el éxito del album "Vovin" de 1998, la banda pretendía sacar un EP con algún tema compuesto como "Crowning of Atlantis", pero a instancias de Nuclear Blast deciden convertirlo en un LP añadiendo versiones y temas en vivo al material que se pretendía publicar como un EP. Es evidente que la idea de algo así es vieja como la propia música, y Therion cayó de lleno en ello en 1999 con la publicación del citado EP reconvertido en LP. Con tan solo decir Axel Rudi Pell ya está dicho todo en lo referente a cada obra nueva que saca y que siga sacando mientras le queden fuerzas compositivas, poco cambia, pero al mismo tiempo poco debe cambiar, es una de esas figuras musicales a las que uno se acerca para no sentirse ni sorprendido ni defraudado, sabes lo que buscar y seguro que lo encuentras, hoy dejo otro de los adelantos de este nuevo disco "Ghost town", y lleva por título "Guillotine walk", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Douxis Morte - Dragon Age

DRAGON  AGE 

Aprovechándose de que la parte final de la década de los 2000 y los inicios de los 10 eran propicias para este tipo de sonido, los checos Douxis Morte lo intentaron entre 2008 y 2014. Estamos por supuesto hablando del sonido death melódico de cariz folk, de influjo vikingo y fantástico a partes iguales, una corriente a la que se apuntaron muchas bandas de los más diversos orígenes, y muchas de ellas, como el caso que nos ocupa, no llegaron apenas a mostrar más que una fracción de lo que pudiese haber sido atendiendo al potencial mostrado. En este caso concreto solo un EP en 2011, "Soulmates" con seis temas (o cuatro con intro y outro), fue el material que dejaron como testigo de su existencia antes de su separación en 2014. De dicho EP dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Dragon Age" como buena muestra de su potencial, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Anubis - Nuclear Dawn

 

NUCLEAR  DAWN 

De las muchas, muchas bandas que a lo largo del tiempo han escogido el nombre de Anubis para desarrollar su carrera hoy quiero hablar de una de las estadounidenses, concretamente la californiana formada en 2018 para hacer referencia a su segundo LP de estudio "Anthromorphicide", cuya salida oficial se espera para finales de abril de este 2026 y del que nos dejan su adelanto "Nuclear Dawn", un ejercicio de heavy power metal con un cierto tufillo a thrash. Children Of Bodom - Downfall

 

DOWNFALL 

Esta banda finlandesa Children Of Bodom, es una de esas bandas que trascenderán a su propia existencia, uno de los grupos escogidos para que su nombre se transforme en mito, que ya son, a pesar de seguir en activo en teoría y con la muerte de su lider Alexi para agrandar su caracter mítico, y es que más allá de todo lo que rodea a lo musical, desde ese punto de vista compositivo la capacidad de la banda de hacer música extrema con un potencial masivo es asombrosa, siempre lo ha sido. En 1999 publicaban su segundo LP de estudio "Hatebreeder" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una nueva canción, "Downfall" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Forefather - Havoc On Holy Island

HAVOC  ON  HOLY  ISLAND 

Casi una década de silencio compositivo se antoja algo demasiado largo para una banda como Forefather, los británicos vikingos que desde 2017 no editan nada y ese último trabajo fue además en formato EP, para encontrar su última publicación en formato larga duración hay que retroceder un par de años más, hasta 2015 con su "Curse of the Cwelled" que hoy quiero recuperar de nuevo. La buena noticia es que se supone que la banda sigue en activo, no hay notocia de que se hayan separado, la parte mala es esa década larga ya de silencio desde su anterior LP. Ravage - Keeper Of The Night

KEEPER  OF  THE  NIGHT 

Las bandas "monodisco" en la década de los ochenta, particularmente diría yo en la escena estadounidense y el marco del sonido heavy metal de la vieja escuela, fueron algo muy común, y es lógico atendiendo a la saturación de grupos que había en dicha escena y época. Hoy quiero rescatar a otra de aquellas bandas, de hecho a una de las que habían escogido ese nombre ya que varias lo hicieron, Ravage. Su única obra, "Wrecking ball" fue publicada en 1986 y de ella quiero dejar en el blog su canción "Keeper of the night" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Maniac - Confused Hearts

CONFUSED  HEARTS 

La historia es muy recurrente en este aspecto al que me refiero con la banda Maniac, una joven banda ochentera, de breve vida activa, separación prematura y discografía corta aunque destacable enmarcada en el heavy de corte clásico rozando en ocasiones lo speedico y en otras el hard 'n heavy, lo menos común a tantos grupos que respondían a estas premisas puede ser en Maniac su origen austriaco, ya que no fue sin duda la más prolífica de las escenas en este marco sonoro, sin embargo, siempre se nos ha vendido que las unicas escenas que hacían heavy metal a inicios de los ochenta eran la inglesa o la estadounidense, algo tan incierto como injusto, Maniac es otra prueba de esa explosión global de nuestro sonido, aunque la mayor abundancia de bandas de forma aplastante fuese en esas dos escenas mencionadas. Así, Maniac se forman en 1983 y lo dejan en 1990 publicando dos LP's de estudio, "maniac" en el 85 y "Look Out" en el 89, y de este segundo disco de la banda dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Confused hearts" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
