Claro ejemplo de como llevar bien un proyecto personal este del sueco Magnus Karlsson, con una carrera llena de participaciones, de pertenencia a bandas unas menos conocidas y otras conocidas por todos, así nombres como Primal Fear, The Ferrymen, on nombres propios como Kiske, Somervilla o Russell Allen hablan de un músico de primera línea, inquieto y capaz, que en 2011 comienza su andadura en solitario bajo su propio nombre y su "Free Fall", siempre en una línea melódica, heavy power, cuidada y con grandes colaboraciones labradas con su participación en tantas bandas y proyectos. Cinco añitos ya llevaba la banda noruega Einherjer sin anunciarnos un nuevo disco de estudio, algo que este 2026 deja de ser así ya que el grupo saca en junio "Lifeblood", el que será su décimo ya LP de estudio siempre con su reconocible estilo vikingo. Burning Point - Walls Of Stone

WALLS  OF  STONE 

Seguimos adentrándonos en la discografía de los finlandeses Burning Point, con ese sonido melódico, a medio camino entre el power metal y el heavy hard, siempre con la cuidada producción y el gusto por las melodías pegadizas, hoy para rescatar su cuarto LP de estudio "Empyre" de 2009, un disco que cumple con los estandares de power de corte europeo, y precisamente por ello se la ha clasificado como predecible, poco arriesgado o innovador, pero siempre pienso lo mismo en estas ocasiones, si uno quiere este sonido, lo tiene, no hay nada malo en ello, aunque muchos se apresuren a criticarlo. Mob Rules - Master Of The Black Crow

MASTER  OF  THE  BLACK  CROW 

Que gran noticia que los germanos Mob Rules parezcan coger de nuevo una inercia compositiva más alta, se trata  de una de esas bandas que llevan mucho tiempo haciendo las cosas bien pero habían caído en largos silencios entre obras, y si aumentan su frecuencia sin dejar de lado la calidad habitual será siempre una gran noticia. El pasado 2025 publicaron su undécimo LP de estudio tras siete años de silencio y que en este 2026 aprovechen a sacar una especie de EP con material desechado de sus últimas sesiones de grabación parece mostrar esa intención de mantenerse más a la vista. "Stories from the verdant vale" saldrá a la venta de forma oficial el 21 de agosto y de él dejo su adelanto "Master of the black crow".

Saxon - Lionheart

 

LIONHEART 

Lo que tiene ser una banda mítica, uno de los grandes, es que recurrir a la discografía de una banda de este calibre es siempre un seguro y además casi una cantera inagotable de canciones, y es que la banda británica Saxon lleva camino de alcanzar las cinco décadas en activo (desde 1978), algo que no muchas bandas pueden decir, sobre todo del nivel de esta. En 2004 editaban décimo sexto album de estudio, un disco que pareció retornar a la banda a un sendero más clásico, más esperable de lo que había sido su historia, y además se trata del único disco del grupo con el batería Jorg Michael como miembro de la banda. Los estadounidenses Khemmis son una banda con una ya cierta trayectoria a sus espaldas si bien no han llegado a explotar de cara al gran público. Creadores de un heavy doom de pesados riffs, en este 2026 el grupo lanzará su quinto LP de estudio el próximo mes de junio, desde su formación allá por 2012. Accept - Sodom And Gomorra

SODOM  AND  GOMORRA 

Hay un hecho incontrovertible en esto del heavy metal, y es la enorme dificultad para sobrevivir que el heavy metal en sí, como estilo clásico, sufrió en la primera parte de los noventa, y luego también, esa década completa haría que el heavy metal clásico quedase relegado a unos pocos grupos que lo supieron mantener en una pura ascua hasta que la llama se reavivase años más tarde. Una de esas bandas fue también Accept, aunque no sin dificultad con la salida de UDO que casi hizo desaparecer a la banda. En 1994 la banda navegaba de nuevo con UDO al microfono en un segundo disco tras su vuelta en 1992, pero pareciendo haber perdido un tanto el claro rumbo que la carrera de la banda tuvo sobre todo en los ochenta. "Death Row" es un disco con grandes temas, pero deja una cierta sensación extraña al oyente clásico de la banda, su orientación más agresiva en los términos de la época, más moderna respecto a lo que venían haciendo les proporcionó críticas en uno y otro sentido. Lex Legion - Sleep Eternally

Seguro que dará que hablar el nuevo proyecto que echa a andar compositivamente hablando en este 2026, "Lex Legion", un proyecto que reune a buena parte de la formación de finales de los ochenta de los míticos King Diamond, así nombres como Andy LaRocke (guitarra) o Mikkey Dee (batería) son argumento suficiente para despertar el interés de todo metalhead que se precie. Hablamos, claro está, de heavy metal de corte clásico, de alto nivel, el que la experiencia conjunta de músicos de tal calibre debe dar. Wrath Of Fenrir - Victory Chant

VICTORY  CHANT 

Hoy en día en que la globalización ha llegado a todas partes, incluido el heavy metal, no debería sorprender a nadie que una banda australiana cante a la mitología nórdica, en una clave de death melódico folk, se trata de "Wrath Of Fenrir", un grupo que solo ha publicado dos EP's en su carrera y que ya ha superado una separación en 2016, para retornar en 2017 con cambios en la formación. Poco respaldo han recibido de momento, de discográficas ni del publico en general, pero si te gusta ese sonido death melódico folk muy de los 2000 y de los 10, esta banda debe merecer esa escucha. Siempre celebro que los suecos Narnia saquen material nuevo, una de esas bandas que cuidan absolutamente el sonido que crean, y que ya tiene un innegable sello personal, y es que la banda tiene ya una trayectoria larga, (desde 1996), con un amago de separación, (2010 a 2014), algo que afortunadamente quedó solo en eso, y en este 2026 el grupo sacará a la venta su décimo LP, "X", concretamente el 29 de mayo, y de él nos dejan ya el adelanto "Oceanwide" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Highway Chile - Going Blind

GOING  BLIND 

Que honesto me ha parecido siempre, por encima de todo lo demás, el sonido heavy metálico de la década de los ochenta, sobre todo el de la parte inicial de la misma, fiel a sus principios, inquebrantable e inmancillable, y eso que en este caso de hoy, los holandeses Highway Chile, hacían algunos guiños al hard 'n heavy, que es otra maravilla ochentera por cierto, nada que objetar al sonido que sigue la indeterminada frontera entre ambos sonidos. En 1983, los holandeses Highway Chile nos dejaban su debut, "Storybook Heroes", un disco disfrutable, recomendable, y del que dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Going Blind" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Dominum es uno de esos casos de bandas que parecen abocadas a copar los puestos más altos de la aristocracia metálica no solo europea, uno de esos casos donde su carrera parece seguir un plan preconcebido, y paso a paso parece irse cumpliendo. En este 2026 los alemanes publicarán su trecer LP de estudio, "Night is calling" cuya salida oficial se espera para el tres de julio, y ya tenemos aquí su primer adelanto de la nueva obra, "The circus is in town" con un toque casi industrial, moderno, que me ha recordado mucho a la propuesta de los suecos Tungsten por momentos, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Motörhead - Orgasmatron

 

ORGASMATRON 

"Orgasmatron" fue el séptimo LP de estudio de los británicos Motorhead, otra de esas bandas que poca o ninguna presentación necesitan, otra de las consideradas unánimemente como fundamentales, sin duda parte de los pioneros, sin duda influencia para tantos otros músicos, con una legión de seguidores y con una enrome cantidad de miembros en algún momento ya malogrados lo que siempre da un plus de mito a una banda que ya lo es hace mucho. El citado séptimo LP de estudio, "Orgasmatron" llega de la mano de cambios en la banda, su primera obra siendo oficialmente un cuarteto y no un trio, y una obra que da aire al grupo tras sus anteriores obras en que las ventas habían bajado algo. Saviour Machine - Force Of The Entity

 

FORCE  OF  THE  ENTITY 

Otra banda más bastante desconocida a nivel general pero que quizá hubiera merecido mejor suerte, como tantas otras, atendiendo a su calidad y ambición compositivamente hablando. Son los estadounidenses Saviour Machine, un grupo formado a finales de los ochenta que atravesaron por un par de fases en su época de actividad, (inicial, pues como muchas otras bandas se han reactivado en los últimos tiempos aunque sin plasmarlo en nada publicado), hasta 2008, como decía después desde 2017 en adelante sin trabajos nuevos. Dos LP's iniciales en 1993 y 1994, con el título I y II respectivamente, luego una trilogía "Legend part I, II y III entre 1997 y 2001, de su debut dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Force of The entity" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Lethal - Immune

 

IMMUNE 

Parece haber un consenso general de entre todos los metalheads que han escuchado esta obra de la banda estadounidense Lethal, su debut, "Programmed" de 1990, una obra que en su momento pasó bastante desapercibida para el gran público en general, pero como decía al inicio, todo metalhead que lo escucha, pronto o tarde, termina por rendirse a la calidad de la obra y de sus músicos. Con ese toque progresivo, muchos comparan la banda con Queensryche, también por la calidad vocal del cantante del grupo Tom Mallicoat, así como por la calidad compositiva en sí.
