Saviour Machine - Force Of The Entity

 

FORCE  OF  THE  ENTITY 

Otra banda más bastante desconocida a nivel general pero que quizá hubiera merecido mejor suerte, como tantas otras, atendiendo a su calidad y ambición compositivamente hablando. Son los estadounidenses Saviour Machine, un grupo formado a finales de los ochenta que atravesaron por un par de fases en su época de actividad, (inicial, pues como muchas otras bandas se han reactivado en los últimos tiempos aunque sin plasmarlo en nada publicado), hasta 2008, como decía después desde 2017 en adelante sin trabajos nuevos. Dos LP's iniciales en 1993 y 1994, con el título I y II respectivamente, luego una trilogía "Legend part I, II y III entre 1997 y 2001, de su debut dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Force of The entity" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Lethal - Immune

 

IMMUNE 

Parece haber un consenso general de entre todos los metalheads que han escuchado esta obra de la banda estadounidense Lethal, su debut, "Programmed" de 1990, una obra que en su momento pasó bastante desapercibida para el gran público en general, pero como decía al inicio, todo metalhead que lo escucha, pronto o tarde, termina por rendirse a la calidad de la obra y de sus músicos. Con ese toque progresivo, muchos comparan la banda con Queensryche, también por la calidad vocal del cantante del grupo Tom Mallicoat, así como por la calidad compositiva en sí. Leatherwolf - Rise Or Fall

RISE  OR  FALL 

Los estadounidenses Leatherwolf son buen ejemplo de lo que sucedía con el sonido heavy metalico a finales de los ochenta en la escena internacional, lo que muchas bandas se veían obligadas a hacer si querían tener la ocasión de abrirse camino o vender más copias de sus obras en ese instante en que la escena cambiaba, y en que, sobre todo en Estados Unidos, el hard rock era una de las corrientes que se imponían, sobre todo desde el punto de vista de las ventas, así, una banda como Leatherwolf, con un inicio sin lugar a dudas heavy a lo Old School evolucionaría al final de esta su primera época hacia un hard 'n heavy mucho más asequible a las grandes masas. En 1987 la banda publicaba su "Leatherwolf", tercera ocasión en que usaban su propio nombre para titular un trabajo (en 1984 otro LP y en ese mismo año un EP, todos diferentes pero con el mismo título). Messiah Force - White Night

WHITE  NIGHT 

Una banda más de esas ochenteras y de esas monodisco, un nuevo ejemplo de grupo, en este caso canadiense, que a pesar de tener los mimbres para haber desarrollado una carrera sin nada que envidiar a muchas otras bandas coetaneas se quedo en solo una fracción de lo que pudo haber sido. Formados en 1984 cesan su actividad en 1991 con el fruto de un solo LP en 1987 "The Last day", en una clave de heavy metal un tanto speedico. King Leoric - The Warrior's Tune

THE  WARRIOR'S  TUNE 

Extremadamente interesante obra la de estos alemanes, King Leoric, "Thunderforce", segundo de los tres albumes de estudio que componen la discografía de esta banda a fecha de esta reseña. El grupo, formado en 1998, comienza a publicar material de estudio en 2002 y desde 2013 no publican nada nuevo a pesar de estar en activo teóricamente. Hablamos de heavy power metal, con un toque personal. En 2005 publicaban su segundo LP, el citado "Thunderforce" disco que sorprenderá a muchos que no conozcan a esta banda, auto publicado pero la ausencia de discográfica detrás no debe ser motivo para no acercarse a su propuesta, más debería ser motivo para preguntarse como ninguna discográfica se ha comprometido a apoyar a una banda como esta. Pagan - Immigrant Song

IMMIGRANT  SONG 

Interesante banda sueca, Pagan, difícil de clasificar, original por su heterogénea mezcla, un tanto tardía en su planteamiento ya que se forma en 1987 y flirtea con elementos que muchas bandas ya descartaban a finales de los ochenta para intentar asomar la cabeza en la escena del momento, por momentos digamos raros en su primer disco "Pagan" de 1990, por momentos casi geniales, una obra para escuchar y sacar tus propias conclusiones, hoy dejo su particular visión del tema clásico de Led Zeppelin que aquí versionan y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Mania - Wizard Of The Lost Kingdom

WIZARD  OF  THE  LOST  KINGDOM 

La mágica década de los ochenta dejó montones de bandas de esas que desarrollaron su carrera fuera de los focos del gran público, grupos de esos que no llenaban estadios pero que cuando te chocabas con ellos te ponían una sonrisa en la boca. Solían ser bandas que desarrollaban carreras breves, con pocas obras publicadas y muy habitualmente un solo LP antes de rendirse a la evidencia de que el sistema imperante en la escena musical internacional de la época era un muro infranqueable para ellos. Hoy quiero recuperar el primer material de los alemanes Mania, uno de esos grupos, en este caso formados en 1982 y que publicaban su primer material de estudio en formato EP, "Wizard of the lost kingdom" en 1988, y de él quiero hoy dejar en el blog el tema que le daba nombre y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Megadeth - Crush 'Em

CRUSH  'EM 

Acostumbrados a ir a lo suyo, con opiniones de todos lados a lo que hacían y hacen desde el comienzo, los estadounidenses Megadeth en 1999 publicaban su octavo LP de estudio a través de un título, "Risk" en el que daban las pistas de que se iban a salir de los cánones esperados para sus obras, y que siendo conscientes igualmente lo terminarían haciendo. Un disco acogido con opiniones encontradas, (nada nuevo para la banda), pero que fue una exploración que la banda abandonaría para su siguiente y posteriores obras. Más comercial, en incluso electrónico, alejado del thrash inicial, del sonido más pesado que retomarían luego. Nueva obra a la vista del guitarrista griego Gus G. conocido y reconocido a nivel global y siempre respaldado por la calidad de sus obras. "Steel Burner" será su sexto LP de estudio en solitario, verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 24 de abril y para la ocasión ha contado con la colaboración de varios artistas internacionales de primera línea, en el apartado vocal, Matt Barlow, Ronnie Romero o Doro Pesch por nombrar los más conocidos y en el bajo Dennis Ward por ejemplo. Rage - Love And Fear Unite

 

LOVE  AND  FEAR  UNITE

Los alemanes Rage son poseedores de una de las más prolíficas carreras en general dentro del heavy metal, una de esas bandas que ha ido atravesando etapas y que ha sido siempre como un reloj suizo a la hora de publicar LP's nunca más allá de dos años de media, y cuando han superado ese tiempo han dejado entre medias material en forma de EP, así, 27 LP's de estudio hablan del poderío de este grupo germano. En 1999 publicaban su décimo cuarto LP de estudio "Ghosts", en su etapa más sinfónica y orquestada, pero que tenía momentos mucho más directos también. Torian - Soul Vampires

SOUL  VAMPIRES 

Por fin noticias compositivas de los alemanes Torian. aunque sea en forma solo de un single que al menos demuestra que siguen activos, ya que desde su último LP publicado, ya en 2018, solo otro single en 2023 además de este citado "Soul Vampires" de este 2026 son testigos de su estatus activo como banda. Como siempre power metal de corte europeo, con el sello además en la producción una vez más de Seeb Levermann que ya resulta ser parte de la identidad sonora de la banda y a destacar también la estabilidad del grupo en que permanecen los mismos miembros casi desde su formación, así que no hay cambios desde 2005 lo que incluye todo su material publicado. Dejo hoy en el blog este nuevo single, "Soul Vampires" que esperemos sea el preludio de una nueva obra que sería ya la cuarta, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Sculpture - Over

 

OVER 

Sculpture, (una de las bandas que han escogido este nombre para intentar una carrera), concretamente los germanos, fueron una banda de breve existencia, (solo un par de años, de 1997 a 1999), formados por un ex de Crematory en lo que prometía ser un proyecto consistente con el apoyo además de Nuclear Blast, pero que se quedó en un único album "Sculpure" publicado en 1999, lleno de buenos momentos, para amantes del sonido Crematory como por  ejemplo queda claro en el tema "Over" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Metal De Facto - Pen Is Mightier Than Sword

PEN  IS  MIGHTIER  THAN  SWORD 

Parece que los finlandeses Metal de Facto se sienten absolutamente cada vez más como una banda consolidada más que como un proyecto puntual, se nota que el grupo está cada vez más engrasado y en su tercer trabajo de estudio queda absolutamente patente. "Land of the rising sun part 2" es una obra que raya a gran nivel, muchos momentos destacables, otro de ellos es este "Pen is mightier than sword" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Thunderstone - The Path

THE  PATH 

Dentro del subgénero del power, y teniendo en cuenta la década de los 2000 y la escena finlandesa encontramos un gran número de bandas que lo intentaron, no todas ellas con un resultado masivo. Muchos de esos grupos se mantuvieron en un segundo plano pero publicando discos interesantes en sus carreras, no siempre estables, ni prolíficas. Uno de esos grupos es Thunderstone, formados en 2000, con un primer periodo de actividad hasta 2011 y una reactivación desde 2013 hasta la actualidad, un total de seis LP's de estudio siendo el sexto de ellos, "Apocalypse Again" de 2016, el único publicado, a fecha de esta reseña, dentro de su segundo periodo de actividad con la particularidad del retorno del cantante inicial del grupo. Nueva canción de los suecos Tungsten que alimentan la sospecha de que un nuevo LP de estudio debe estar a punto de anunciarse para este 2026 algo de lo que aún yo no tengo noticias oficiales al menos, pero es siempre un motivo de ilusión que bandas de este calibre sigan adelante con su carrera al nivel que lo están haciendo.
