Exhausted, worn out, and weak
Burdened by the words the mist spoke to me
Familiar faces that speak volumes
And signal that my time has run out
Stretched out long in mud and mire
I ponder whether I have reached heaven
Yet this ground reminds me
Of what has come to pass
In this impenetrable, thick mist
Yet I remain stubborn; I hold fast
And slowly rise to my feet
And I make my way home
Where my fate waits and laughs in the doorway of my heart
For I mourn you, my friend;
I still have many questions
But you are me, so I am dead
How can I bear this?
Lost soul, our dreams are now consumed
Trapped in this purgatory, but my time will come
Awaited by a phantom known to me
Yet deep down I know you are no longer there
The waters rise high around me
As I reach your glow
And you vanish on the spot
Like snow before the sun
My hair stands on end
Grief and silence stifle my voice
The confusion deepens
When suddenly a sparkling light
Shines brightly through the all-concealing mist
Why did we have to go so soon?
There I lie, cold and still, in my oak bed
Where I so often awoke
It sinks in ever deeper: I am dead
But I live on
For I mourn you, my friend;
I still have many questions
But you are me, so I am dead
How can I bear this? Lost soul, our dreams are now consumed
Trapped in this purgatory, yet my time will come
All must pass on
You, too, stand face to face with death; accept the silence
Resigned, you die, destined to wander forever
Enveloped by the semblance of the dead
For so long, their longing bore my name
Come, take me; I am ready to go
Carry my soul away with you—am I you?
Well, then you are me
For I mourn you, my friend
I still have many questions
But you are me, so I am dead
How can I bear this?
Lost soul, our dreams are now consumed
Trapped in this purgatory, yet my time will come
Your final tribute, a silent splendor
Has brought peace to my heart
