GLEAM  IN  THE  BLACK 

Ya va camino la banda finlandesa Insomnium de las tres décadas de actividad desde su formación en 1997, toda una carrera para el grupo que en este 2026 publicará su décimo LP de estudio "Netherworlds" cuya salida oficial será el 16 de octubre. Como siempre su death melódico absolutamente cuidado y marca de la casa es el protagonista de sus nuevos adelantos, el último de ellos "Gleam in the black" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Eternia - Sailing Home

SAILING  HOME 

Hablando de power de inicios de los 2000 y de una banda sueca, con Eternia parece claro de lo que vamos a hablar, de la propuesta compositiva que vamos a escuchar. A grandes rasgos se cumplen las espectativas, los clichés, a mi personalmente se me van un poco a Morifade y al mismo tiempo a alguna banda italiana de la época. El grupo no tuvo mucha suerte, quedaron bastante en el anonimato y tras un único disco de estudio publicado "Tales of power" de 2002, y un EP posterior (2003) cambiarían de nombre en 2005 a "Destynation" sacando otro disco en 2006 para separarse al poco tiempo, así pues, una nueva banda que quedó en el camino, anónimos para la mayoría pero no carentes de potencial. De su disco de 2002 dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Sailing Home" con un tiempo a medio gas, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

SHADOWS  IN  THE  NIGHT 

Rattlesnakes es otra banda nueva, formada en 2024, británica, que pretende rememorar ese espíritu clásico no solo del heavy metal de la vieja escuela, sino ciertos rasgos speedicos y del thrash, con una vocalista que esgrime perfectamente la furia del heavy metal. En este 2026 sacarán su primer LP de estudio, para octubre, y de momento nos dejan su adelanto "Shadows of the night" que dará también nombre al album, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Formados en 2005 los italianos Crimson Dawn, (que hay alguna otra banda que ha escogido el mismo nombre), son propietarios de un sonido a medio camino de varias cosas, así, encontramos una base de heavy metal con un trasfondo doom y una intención épica, no han inventado nada nuevo, pero su sonido se disfruta si tienes vocación clásica. HEY  GOD 

Vamos hoy a dejar otra pincelada de lo que será en teoría la última obra de estudio de la banda, tras su anuncio de cesar en ese apartado tras la publicación de esta obra. En lo referente al trabajo creo que es más lo bueno que lo malo, demuestran estar en buena forma a pesar de que Mustaine muestre más carencias en lo vocal, también se nota una producción más limpia, muchos lo han criticado, desde luego Megadeth sin polémica añadida no sería Megadeth, realmente me parece y ha parecido siempre injusto. Bronz - Loneliness Is Mine

 

 LONELINESS  IS  MINE

De vuelta a la NWOBHM, de vuelta por lo tanto a incios de los ochenta en ese marco sonoro de heavy metal de la vieja escuela, aquí con un guiño hard 'n heavy, para hablar de otro caso más de banda que lo intentó a través de un único LP para años más tarde, con el cambio de siglo, reunirse y hacer una segunda parte de su carrera. Son lo británicos Bronz, formados en 1976, que sacan su debut en formato LP en 1984, "Taken by storm", y que luego han completado su discografía, a fecha de esta reseña, en 2002, 2003 y 2010 con otros tres LP's. Dominum - Night Is Calling

NIGHT  IS  CALLING 

Dominum ha publicado en este 2026 su tercer LP de estudio "Night is calling", una banda que a pesar de no llevar demasiado tiempo de actividad (desde 2022), y con solo tres discos da esa sensación de importancia, como de ir a llegar bien alto, y en ello están, sin embargo, quizá en este nuevo disco más evidente hasta ahora, la diversidad sonora que esgrimen dentro de la propia obra puede mermar, al menos para oyentes como yo, la efectividad de la propuesta, siendo para mi caso concreto, más un disco de temas sueltos que en su conjunto. Otra de las canciones de la nueva obra es la que da título a la misma, "night is calling", con la colaboración de Battle Beast, un tema del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

LAW  BREAKER 

EL Décimo octavo LP de estudio de los incombustibles Grave Digger llevó por título "Healed by metal", publicado en 2017. Hablar de si es mejor o peor en este tipo de grupos es un poco absurdo, son bandas que siempre suenan a ellos mismos, una de esas bandas en las que uno recala con la intención de encontrar lo que espera encontrar, son como grupos de la familia, bandas que si te gustan te reconfortan al tener la certeza de que sonarán a ellos mismos. Es cierto que demasiada previsibilidad puede ser negativa, o incluso aburrida, pero eso ya depende más del que escucha que del que propone un sonido. Otra banda que inicia en este 2026 su andadura compositiva, es la banda alemana Skyrider que deja su debut "Traveller Of Starlit Skyes" en este año, de forma oficial a la venta a partir del 1 de agosto, en un marco sonoro de heavy metal de corte clásico y según la banda con unas un fondo doom. Attacker - Revelations Of Evil

REVELATIONS  OF  EVIL 

Menudo inicio de carrera tuvieron los estadounidenses Attacker, claro está, hablamos de la década de los ochenta y de su escena más underground, sobre todo fuera de Estados Unidos no eran muy conocidos y en realidad tampoco allí, era eso, la atestada escena internacional en la que muchas bandas luchaban por salir pero solo unas pocas lo lograban. Formados en 1984, publican su debut en 1985, algo justitos de tiempo atendiendo a su propuesta compositiva de heavy metal de la vieja escuela, ya comenzaba a derivar el sonido en otras corrientes más de moda. Su continuación, aún en una época más complicada, 1988, seguía la misma argumentación compositiva, lo que pudo explicar su prematura desaparición en principio, ya que el grupo tendrá, y tiene una segunda etapa de actividad desde 2001, con un enfoque más heavy power. Evermore - Nightstar Odyssey

NIGHTSTAR  ODYSSEY 

Otra buena banda, de las que se han quedado un poco en un segundo plano pero que llevan una ascendente trayectoria siempre, desde el inicio basada en la calidad, pero sin duda, su carrera aún joven (formados en 2016), de seguir en esta línea debería dar al grupo todas las merecidas oportunidades y el reconocimiento que merecen. "Mournbraid" es el tercer capitulo del grupo, publicado hace unos meses (marzo), y demuestra esa línea ascendente, con cada vez una mejor producción y una excelente capacidad compositiva. Otra demostración por ejemplo es la canción "Nightstar Odyssey" un tema muy en la onda de Edguy, y de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Aldaria - Guardians Of The Light

GUARDIANS  OF  THE  LIGHT 

Otro proyecto alejado del a priori sonido más "oscuro" típico de la escena noruega, se trata de Aldaria, cuyo motor es el músico multi instrumentista Frode Hovd, que forma Aldaria en 2014 para publicar su única obra de estudio a fecha de esta reseña "Land Of Light" en 2017, desde entonces silencio solo roto por un single en 2025. Power metal melódico, un poco helloweenero, en esa onda a veces happy tipo también Freedom Call. Highland Glory - Spirit Of Salvation

SPIRIT  OF  SALVATION 

No es lo más habitual que una banda noruega suene tan digamos "Sueca" en terrenos Power o Europower, este es el caso de Highland Glory, un grupo con una larga trayectoria en un par de épocas, entre 2001, año de su formación y 2017, años de su separación, para luego en este 2026 rearmarse aunque, a fecha de esta reseña no tengo noticia de material nuevo ni siquiera en formato single. Pero es siempre buena idea recuperar algo del material pasado del grupo, así, de entre sus tres LP's publicados hasta la fecha quiero recuperar una de las canciones de su segundo disco "Forever Endeavour" de 2005, en concreto la canción "Spirit of salvation" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Dreamtale - Tale Of Dreams

 

TALE  OF  DREAMS 

Hasta el último día del mes de julio no saldrá de forma oficial el nuevo disco de estudio de los finlandeses Dreamtale, "Aetherbound". La banda parece estar viviendo uno de sus mejores momentos (desde la incorporación de varios miembros desde 2019 en eadelante), parece que han encontrado una identidad mayor, y un sonido con mayor capacidad para llegar a grandes masas, más eficaces por lo tanto.
