Dethklok - The Lost Vikings

THE  LOST  VIKINGS 

De las muchas fórmulas para crear una banda, hay alguna que se sale digamos de los cauces habituales por su planteamiento anecdótico podríamos decir, como ocurre con los estadounidenses Dethklok, planteados como una banda virtual que da vida a una serie para adultos, donde todos los tópicos del heavy metal tienen cabida de una manera absolutamente llevada al extremo, sátira de este mundillo nuestro que sin embargo siempre, desde el inicio, supo componer la banda sonora de la serie de manera perfectamente real, hasta el punto de alcanzar gran aceptación que terminaría por alimentar a la serie y con ella a la propia banda para publicar ya, a fecha de esta reseña, seis LP's desde 2006 en que comienza esta aventura. Iced Earth - A Charge To Keep

 

A  CHARGE  TO  KEEP 

Iced Earth, o lo que viene a ser lo mismo, Jon Schaffer, es una de esas bandas que han contado con un buen plantel de músicos a lo largo del tiempo de actividad que ya viene extendiéndose desde 1988 en adelante, sin contar desde 2021 en que se vio el grupo afectado por el asunto de Schaffer y el asunto de la Casa Blanca estadounidense. El caso es que es una de esas bandas unidas a un nombre y a un concepto compositivo bastante fiel a lo largo de las épocas y de las formaciones. A medio camino del power y del thrash a lo largo de su carrera el grupo ha publicado catorce LP's de estudio, el octavo de ellos en 2007, "Framing Armageddon" (something wicked part I), lo que deja entrever que esta obra es parte de una saga de dos albumes. En este primero estamos ante la última obra del cantante Tim "Ripper" Owens con Iced Earth (de las dos en las que participó), un disco conceptual del que dejo hoy en el blog su canción "A charge to keep" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Nocturnal Rites - Never Again

NEVER  AGAIN 

Nocturnal Rites es un grupo sueco de los que han ido evolucionando su sonido a medida que avanzaba su carrera, de hecho comienzan su camino como una banda de death metal, en los mismos inicios de su carrera, aunque solo grabaron alguna demo en esas tesituras compositivas, luego el power metal llenaría sus obras en la época adecuada, y con la calidad de su lado. Hablamos de una carrera desarrollada sobre todo en los 90 y los 2000, y aunque siguen en activo, en casi veinte años solo un LP da fe de su continuidad (su noveno LP de estudio "Phoenix" de 2017). Parece que el "fenix" no termino de renacer y ya ocho años de silencio dan poca confianza en su continuidad real. El caso es que en 2007 publicaban su octavo LP, "The 8th sin" que ponía fin a esa primera parte de su carrera, ya algo alejados de su sonido más lustroso, prototípico, criticados por la obra, pero de ella quiero rescatar hoy la canción "Never again" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Helloween - As Long As I Fall

Uno de los puntos fuertes de los germanos Helloween, además de la aparente recuperación de los golpes que suelen acabar con la mayoría de bandas como la salida de miembros clave, es la de crear singles incontestables, temas se fácil asimilación, de enorme potencial de venta, de capacidad para ser coreadas en vivo, punto clave para su éxito global. Canciones para una vida - Cryonic - Promised Land

PROMISED  LAND

 Vamos ahora con algo de power metal de los 2000, los suecos "Cryonic" en activo con ese nombre entre 2004 y 2017, después cambiaron nombre y estilo por "Mike Machine" y Glam Sleazy respectivamente. En sus comienzos eran dueños de un más que interesante europower muy de esos años. Dos discos de estudio dan forma a esa parte de la historia de la banda, (2007 y 2010) a los que añadir el EP inicial de 2006. Interesante sonido para darle un repaso a su discografía, yo hoy lo hago con su primer LP a través de su tema "Promised land", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Magnum - Dragons Are Real

 

DRAGONS  ARE  REAL

Magnum es y siempre ha sido sinónimo de calidad, con su propuesta cercana a muchas cosas pero sin ser ninguna de ellas, han sabido labrar su propia senda entre el rock, el hard rock e incluso un hard 'n heavy melódico que les ha llevado a transitar a través de seis décadas diferentes ofreciendonos 22 LP's de estudio a fecha de esta reseña, el último y magnífico en este 2022 demostrando su gran estado de forma compositivo. a esto hay que añadir toda la carrera de Bob Catley en solitario y las muchas colaboraciones en diferentes proyectos dejandome siempre esa sensación de ser una banda y en el caso de Catley una figura a los que no se les da del todo la importancia que merecen musicalmente hablando, e igualmente pienso y deseo que antes o después esto ocurrirá. Mirando atrás a su extenso legado musical hoy quiero rescatar en el blog una canción de su décimo cuarto LP de estudio, "Princess Alice and the broken arrow" de 2007, en concreto la melódica y medio tiempo "Dragons are real" con toda la magia de la banda, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Spellblast - Gobling's Song

 

GOBLING'S  SONG

La escuela italiana es también una de esas canteras en las que muchas bandas permanecen siempre en un segundo plano, como en una segunda división, llegando a tener una cirta repercusión pero al tiempo dandose por hecho que no saltarán nunca a la primera línea de grupos de la escena internacional, sin embargo, no en pocas ocasiones ese tipo de bandas ofrecen una calidad mucho más que aceptable y su propuesta resulta ser muy interesante, concretamente con los italianos y hablando de la primera década de los 2000, ese power, con tintes épico folk un tanto herederos de los inevitables Rhapsody. En semejante marco encontramos a "Spellblast", quienes en 1999 comnzaron su andadura que continúa hasta la actualidad, con una producción discográfica de cuatro LP's en estos años, lo cual se antoja un tanto escaso, y creo que últimamente, en su último LP han seguido buscando un hueco en la escena internacional, aunque su giro, sobre todo conceptual no se si ha sido un acierto, pero esa será otra historia. El caso es que su debut, "Horns of silence"  en 2007,descubrió a una ilusionada banda, en ese concepto épico fantástico folkie que considero más natural en ellos, con temas tan interesantes como este "Goblins song" de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Elvenking - The Divided Heart

 

THE  DIVIDED  HEART

Larga es ya la carrera de los italianos "Elvenking", un grupo que lleva desde 1997 en activo y que desde el principio hiiceron una apuesta personal por buscar su propio sonido y su propio camino, logrando una huella propia sonora reconocible enseguida. Por otra parte, esta es una de esas bandas que, a pesar de reconocer su valia, de aceptar que siempre tengo que escuchar su material nuevo al salir, termina por ofrecerme la misma sensación, la de monotonía al enfrentarme a una de sus obras completas. Desde luego para mí su mejor época está al comienzo, también quizá por lo novedoso de su sonido en las primeras obras o la no saturación de un sonido demasiado clonado disco tras disco, destacando su material debut "Heathenreel", de 2001, un discazo de comienzo a fin. Dicho esto es evidente que siempre encuentro momentos en sus obras para el disfrute, y claramente es para mí una de esas bandas más de canciones que de obras completas. Hoy quiero vovlver la vista atrás a su cuarto LP de estudio, "The Scythe", de 2007, un disco que cumple lo anteriormente dicho para mí, y que cuenta con uno de los temas que más puede considerarse un "single" casi de la carrera de la banda, en términos generales y para el gran público quiero decir, como fue "The divided heart", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Dream Theater - Forsaken

 

FORSAKEN

Nuevo repaso a la larguísima carrera ya de los estadounidenses Dream Theater en estos días previos a la salida del nuevo material que se espera para este inminente mes de octubre. Será el décimo quinto LP de estudio desde que se formase la banda en 1988 bajo el nombre de Dream Theater, y mientras nos presentan por completo la nueva obra que se va desgranando poco a poco con sus adelantos, es una excusa cojonuda para rebuscar en el amplio y de categoría catálogo de la banda. Hoy quiero recuperar el noveno disco de estudio del grupo, "Systematic Chaos", de 2007, en particular una obra variada, siempre con el espíritu de la banda, ese toque que solo los reyes del progresivo pueden imprimir a todos sus discos que les ha hecho ser tan reconocibles y reconocidos, además de imitados. Su primer single de esta obra fue "Forsaken", canción por su estructura muy accesible a todo tipo de metalheads, sin excesos progresivos, un single de manual, y de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Ensiferum - Wanderer

 

WANDERER

Hablar de sentimiento épico, de ese plus que en ocasiones pocas cosas te pueden ofrecer a igual nivel que la música, es hacerlo de, sobre todo, la primera parte de la carrera de los finlandeses Ensiferum, más aún, a nivel personal de las dos primeras obras de la banda con Jari Maempaa a la voz y en labores co compositivas, y es que ha quedado ya claro de sobra que la capacidad musical de Jari es descomunal, también en su carrera post Ensiferum como Wintersun. Pero volviendo a Ensiferum, hoy quiero volver a recuperar la tercera de las obras de la banda, ya con la incorporación de Petri Lindroos, con un ambiente compositivo muy similar al de los dos primeros LP's. Hablamos de 2007, y la banda estaba en un momento imponente, el reflejo es la tremenda obra en su conjunto que nos dejaron bajo el título de "Victory Songs", grandes temas que incluso en el caso de los más largos se hacen amenos, casi cortos, piezas de esas que uno guarda muy arriba en las listas de favoritos, o temas a medio gas llenos de épica, como este "Wanderer" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube en el blog.

Canciones para una vida - Iron Fire - Dawn Of Victory

 

DAWN  OF  VICTORY

Buen ejemplo de muchas cosas de esas que se repiten en bandas de este estilo es la carrera de los daneses  Iron Fire, buen ejemplo de banda que ha ido realizando una consistente carrera, ya de casi tres décadas, con 9 LP's a sus espaldas, buen ejemplo de grupo que ha demostrado mucho más de lo necesario para haber alcanzado mayores cotas de éxito pero a estas añturas aún no reconocido en toda su valía, quien sabe si por la saturación de la escena en el momento de su debut, o por desarrollar su carrera al calor compositivo del subgénero power tan denostado por muchos, sobre todo de cara a la galería, como si fuese un subgénero de menos categoría. Otro ejemplo que aquí se cumple es la temática, fantástica, o histórica, con espadas como protagonistas, algo asociado por muchos también a esa idea "poco seria", que ha metido en el mismo saco a bandas buenas y malas por igual, algo absolutamente injusto. Pero más allá de todo esto, la propuesta presentada por Iron Fire siempre mostró la calidad por encima de todo y este cuarto LP de la banda "Blade of triumph" de 2007 es buen ejemplo de ello, un album del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog la canción "Dawn of victory", muy "Iron Fire", y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Power metal de corte europeo, y qué, muchos de los que más se supone que lo critican son de los que muchas veces más lo consumen en su intimidad.

Canciones para una vida - Armory - Forever Triumphant

 

FOREVER  TRIUMPHANT

Un poquito de power estadounidense para hoy encarnado en la banda "Armory", una banda que se forma en 2001 y que ha permanecido en activo desde entonces aunque tan solo editando dos LP's en todo este tiempo. De hecho, la banda en un principio , debido a la carencia de medios graba su debut "The dawn of enlightenment" en 2004 en forma de demo, sin la calidad sonora necesaria y con la intención de promocionar sus cualidades para fichar por una discográfica. Posteriormente, en 2007, reeditan la obra, con más apoyo y medios, dando un sonido mucho más profesional a sus composiciones y de paso aumentando el número de musicos que integraría la banda. Después, 2013 sería la fecha escogida para su segundo LP, "Empyrean Realms", y desde entonces silencio compositivo. El sonido del grupo bebe de la influencia power, más de corte americano, con toques aquí y allá en plan progresivo y con un buen gusto compositivo que en seguida se aprecia. Hoy quiero volver la mirada a su debut, "The dawn of enlightenment", como decía más arriba de 2007, una gran demostración de potencial que auguraba una carrera de mayor producción, pero al final se ha quedado en dos obras. De este debut hoy quiero dejar en el blog el tema "Forever Triumphant", un poco en plan medio tiempo, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Slartibartfass - St. Cuthbert

ST.  CUTHBERT

Autodenominados como "Ambient Pagan Metal", los alemanes Slartibartfass tienen ese toque a caballo entre el sonido folk, apoyado por el mágico sonido de las gaitas, y el black-death metal melódico, el resultado es una más que interesante banda, aún muy desconocida en general, pero con un buen potencial que ya se ha plasmado en una discografía con cuatro LP's, hasta la fecha de esta reseña. El grupo se forma en 2005 y en 2006 editan su primer larga duración, "Nordwind". En 2007 vería la luz su segunda obra, "Nebelheim", de la que hoy quiero dejar un tema en el blog. A ella le seguiría en 2009 su tercer trabajo "Funkenfeuer" y la cuarta, "Schwarz Verhüllt" en 2011. Desde ese año la banda ha permanecido en silencio a la hora de editar material pero en activo a nivel conciertos. Su discografía está cantada en alemán y su nombre, "Slartibartfass" está sacado de un personaje de ficción, así a priori sin demasiado que ver con la temática sonora de la banda, pues se trata de un personaje de la serie de novelas y TV "Guia del autoestopista galáctico", un "diseñador de planetas", que para el sonido de la banda debe haber diseñado uno un tanto nórdico. En definitiva, para los amantes del sonido folk-death melódico estamos ante otra más que ineresante banda en la que merece la pena introducirse. Valga este tema "St. Cuthbert" para ilustrar lo que digo, con esa presencia de gaitas reales que se han convertido en una de las señas de identidad de la banda tanto en estudio como en vivo, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Manowar - Sons Of Odin

SONS OF ODIN

Ya he hecho referencia en el blog a este disco de los americanos Manowar, y hoy vulevo a él, ya que se trata de una obra que de mucho de sí, si te apasiona esto del "True metal" y cliché tras cliché de lo que se supones que es un "Heavy" de manual. Nada podemos decir de esta banda que ya no se haya dicho, e incluso que yo ya no haya escrito en estas páginas del blog, y es que con todo merecimiento Manowar se han convertido en los abanderados de su propia visión del heavy metal, imitados, influyentes y sobre todo "true metaleros", de esos que se autodenominan jueces de lo que es Heavy metal real o no, un tema en el que no voy a entrar ahora, pero que sin duda vende. Vuelvo a esta obra, "Gods of war", de 2007, su décima y penúltima obra de estudio hasta la fecha de esta reseña, (reediciones aniversario aparte), pues en ella la banda, haciendo un disco conceptual sobre la mitología nórdica, ha hecho, según ellos mismos han explicado, una especie de resumen musical de lo que ha sido toda su carrera, con todos los clichés, con un redundancia en su concepto a modo de homenaje a si mismos y atodos los que aman su sonido. realmente se puede decir que lo han conseguido, es un disco muy Manowar, y para mi gusto una gran obra, más aún comparándola con la "castaña" que se sacaron de la manga en forma de "The lord of steel", en 2012. Espero que las pretensiones experimentales se les hayan terminado para la siguiente obra que creo saldrá en este 2016. Volviendo al disco que nos ocupa, quizás hayan abusado de las partes habladas, y los interludios orquestales son más, aunque también la longitus de la obra lo acepta, pero la esencia "Manowaristica" está ahí, y los temas a destacar son varios, hoy quiero dejar en el blog el tema "Sons Of Odin", otro tema con todas las garantías del sonido Manowar, que tanto he echado de menos en su posterior obra, y que espero que retomen para la que venga, una canción, esta "Sons Of Odin", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Arkona - Oy Pechal Toska

OY PECHAL TOSKA (Ой, печаль-тоска) - (Oh, My Sorrow, My Anguish)

Arkona es un grupo ruso, de pagan folk metal, una de esas bandas de sobra conocidas si te gusta el estilo, pues, a pasar de realizar sus temas en su lengua natal, gozan de un gran reconocimiento internacional. La banda se forma en 2002, y en esos tiempos algunos de sus miembros provenían de la comunidad pagana local llamada “Vyatichi”. Ya por entonces la cantante Masha "Scream" Arkhipova, una de las señas de identidad y con gran peso compositivo e interpretativo en la banda estaba presente en el proyecto, encargándose generalmente de la voz, el teclado, percusión con elementos folk, e incluso de guitarras acústicas, siendo la única superviviente aún en el grupo desde aquella época en la que la banda se hacía llamar "Hyperborea". En ese mismo 2002 deciden adoptar su nombre de Arkona, o "Аркона" en su lengua natal. Comienzan a sacar la cabeza entre la escena underground rusa y pronto despiertan buenas expectativas entre prensa y público. Desde sus inicios han editado ya 6 LP's y un EP de un más que interesante sonido Folk pagan con un sello muy personal, que ha alcanzado una gran aceptación dentro del subgénero. Su primera obra data de 2004 y la más reciente del pasado 2014. hoy quiero dejar en el blog una da las canciones que más me gustan de la banda, "Oy pechal toska", de su cuarta obra de estudio 

"Ot serdtsa kneb", de 2007, un tema que muestra algunos de los elementos clave para entender el sonido de la banda, aunque en realidad se trata de un tema más bien lento, que quizás no sea el más representativo tampoco, pero si destila todo ese espíritu folk-épico que en muchas ocasiones utiliza el grupo, una canción que líricamente se refiere al drama de una muchacha que casada contra su voluntad, y embarazada decide quitarse la vida al no soportar su situación", un tema muy triste para una canción igualmente triste al tiempo que épica, y de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Gamma Ray - Opportunity

OPPORTUNITY

Cuando kai Hansen salio de Helloween en 1989, formó este grupo, sin en principio grandes pretensiones, y tras haber pasado un tiempo haciendo colaboraciones con otras bandas como Blind Guardian. Es en ese mismo 1989 cuando decide formar Gamma Ray, junto a otros músicos como Ralf Scheepers, hasta entonces vocalista de Tyran Pace. En 1990 editan su primera obra de estudio que es inmediatamente un rotundo éxito, como no podía ser de otra manera pues estamos ante uno de los "reyes Midas" en esto del Heavy que parecen convertir en oro todo lo que tocan. Desde entonces y hasta la fecha de esta reseña 11 discos de estudio y 3 EP's hablan de un grupo consolidado en lo más alto de la cima metálica. Tras el "Land  of the free" de 1995, su cuarta obra de estudio, Kai Hansen se haría con las funciones de vocalista, al igual que lo hiciera ya antes en Helloween en sus inicios, tras la salida de Gamma Ray de Ralf Scheepers en 1994 por supuestas razones logísticas de la banda. Hoy quiero hablar de una secuela de aquel cuarto exitoso disco de Gamma Ray, que evidentemente titularon "Land of the free II", en 2007, y que también evidentemente no llegó a la extraordinaria calidad de la de 1995, aunque eso si, el buen diseño de marketing que hicieron unido a la calidad no ausente de la obra les hizo alcanzar por ejemplo en número 1 en las listas de ventas alemanas, entre otros motivos por la gira que realizaron junto a Helloween en el tour de presentación del disco en al que terminaban tocando ambas bandas juntas. En cuanto a las canciones, buenos temas componen este disco, aunque a mi entender el nombre de "Land of the Free II" le queda un poco grande, si bien canciones como "Opportunity", "Into the storm", "when the world" o "Real World" dejan clara la calidad de la obra. Quiero hoy dejar un enlace a youtube de su canción "Opportunity", un tema que engaña en su inicio con la promesa de ser una "power ballad" marca de la casa Gamma Ray, para en realidad tornarse con el paso de unos segundos en un tema más contundente, un par de pasos más adelante de lo que llamaríamos un medio tiempo, y en todo caso una canción que a mi personalmente me gusta mucho.

Canciones para una vida - Freedom Call - Far Away

FAR  AWAY

Hablar de Freedom Call es hablar de grandes musicos. La banda alemana se forma en 1998 por el bateria Dan Zimmermann (Gamma Ray) y el comositor, teclista, vocalista y técnico de sonido Chris Bay. Ambos llevaban ya una larga relación musical desde 1988 en que habían coincidido en grupos de versiones como China white o Lanzer a lo largo de la década anterior a la formación de Freedom Call. Deciden darse la oportunidad de crear algo propio justo cuando le bateria Dan entra en Gamma Ray. Freedom Call comienza de esta manera y siempre ha sabido rodearse por grandes músicos, aparte de los mencionados Chris y Dan, por ejemplo Sascha Gerstner en las guitarras hasta su entrada en Helloween, o Ilker Ersin al bajo. Freedom Call comienza a grabar discos de estudio en 1999 sacando hasta la fecha de esta reseña 8 discos en total, a cual mejor. Siempre que hablo de Freedom Call digo lo mismo, es una de esas raras bandas de las que puedo decir que me gusta todo su material, creo que no hay ninguna canción que me desagrade. Su Power metal, muy "happy" en muchas ocasiones te pone las pilas pues su composición es muy cuidada y su producción es simplemente perfecta. Sus letras suelen tener ese punto épico en muchas ocasiones al igual que su melodia apoyada en teclado continuamente. He querido traer al blog este disco Dimensions de 2007, su quinta obra de estudio para acercaros otro de los temas que más me gustan del disco, Far Away,  un tema con todos esos ingrediente enérgicos, positivos que desprende la música de esta fenomenal banda. El disco entero es genial pero bueno, como ya he dicho antes se trata de una de esas bandas que son mi debilidad, asi que acercaos a su música sin miedo a equivocaros pues cojais lo que cojais, para mi suena bien. Canciones para una vida - Domine - Sky Rider

SKY  RIDER

Domine es una banda italiana de power metal que se formó en 1983 y que comenzó a sacar material en forma de demos en 1986. Tuvo una larga época de funcionamiento underground, con cuatro demos hasta 1994, una demo cada tres años hasta que en 1997 dan un paso adelante sacando su primer larga duración. Los miembros fundadores, los hermanos Riccardo y Enrico Paoli al bajo y la guitarra, Carlo Funaioli a la batería sustituyendo a Stefano Mazella en funciones vocales por Morby, y con ello dotaron a la banda con una seña de identidad inconfundible, pues se trata de un vocalista extraordinario. Su primer disco resulta bastante flojillo pero sirve para ver su potencial, que confirman en su segunda obra Dragonlord (Tales of the noble steel), de 1999 que tiene buena acogida entre el público, que les proporciona la posibilidad de girar por Europa llegando a tocar con bandas como Running Wild o Grave Digger. En total Domine han editado 5 obras de estudio y aunque se supone que siguen en activo, desde 2007 no han dado señales de vida a nivel compositivo. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog un tema de su último disco editado hasta la fecha de esta reseña, el citado "Ancient Spirit Rising", de 2007, quinta obra de estudio del grupo que una vez más recupera la temática de la obra de Michael Moorcock, autor británico de fantasía, así, una vez más nos encontramos con el personaje Elric, el mago albino cuya misión no es otra que la de mantener el equilibrio entre el bien y el mal, así pues espadas, batallas, brujería, dragones etc, acuden a nuestra mente en voz de estos power metaleros de corte épico llamados Domine, aunque en esta obra la temática lírica se centra más en un concepto metafísico, algo un poco más abstracto, vida, muerte, o libertad como concepto se reflejan en las canciones de la obra, aunque siempre con el trasfondo marca de la casa, pero con un concepto quizá un poco más maduro, ¿tendrá algo que ver con el hecho de que haya sido la última obra editada de la banda, hace ya casi 8 años?, veremos, el tiempo nos dirá si la banda sigue o no, actualmente se supone que siguen en activo, pero el silencio es ya largo. De esta última obra quiero dejar en el blog el tema "Sky Rider", con el sello Domine, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Blind Guardian - All The King's Horses

ALL THE KING'S HORSES

Ya nos hemos referido en este blog a la tendencia que algunas bandas tienen a "ordeñar demasiado la vaca" de sus composiciones, y a la variedad de fórmulas que existen para sacar más rendimiento a un tema compuesto, en forma de recopilatorios, regrabaciones acústicas, directos, instrumentales, EP's, bonus tracks, versiones, etc, algo lícito en mi opinión para los grupos mientras no se abuse de ello, algo que parece que así ha sido en esta ocasión con este, llamemosle así, EP, (o single largo) de Blind Guardian. Creo que a estas alturas de la película nadie que ame esta música dudará de la calidad y capacidad musical que tiene Blind Guardian, y es que eso no se ha puesto en tela juicio en esta reseña, es solo la fórmula general de no saber cuando parar a la hora de explotar recursos de venta de su material, que es lo que hoy critico. Nos encontramos ante esta obra, EP o como queráis llamarlo, "Another stranger me", de 2007, para descubrir en realidad un single de su anterior trabajo, "A twist in the Myth" de 2006, evidentemente del tema "another stranger me", que aparece en el disco, dos versiones demo de otros dos temas que aparecen igualmente en el LP, "Lioneheart" y "The edge", una versión de Ozzie Nelson, "Dream a Little Dream of Me" (en plan casi coñera tipo Barbara Ann, etc), y un tema como "All the king's horses", que aparece como bonus track de la edición japonesa de "A twist in the myth", y que es el tema que dejo hoy en el blog. Realmente, desde el punto de vista del sentido común queda patente sin más comentarios que esto es puro afán recaudatorio, pero bueno, en el blog tratamos de fijarnos en la música en sí, y atendiendo a ella quiero escoger este tema por su calidad, una canción en ese plan "Harvest of sorrow", tranquilita, melancólica casi de aire medieval que merece ser mencionada, y de la que quiero dejar hoy un enlace a youtube, no todo es siempre "tralla", en ocasiones viene bien pararse a descansar un poquito, otra cosa en la que los maestros Blind Guardian son referencia.
