Canciones para una vida - The Waymaker - Kingdom Of Heaven

KINGDOM  OF  HEAVEN

Otra de las bandas que el cantante sueco Christian Rivel, de Narnia, ha ido creando a lo largo de los años y de su carrera musical que no termina siendo sino una versión más de su sonido con su banda madre Narnia, lo cual no deja de ser algo a tener en cuenta. En esta ocasión se une sus fuerzas con la pareja (matrimonio) Jani y Katja Stefanovic, finlandeses, que han compartido proyectos antes en común, sobre todo Jani, y que en 2019 se embarcan en este The Waymaker. 2020 ha sido testigo del único fruto compositivo en formato LP que ha dado esta unión a tres bandas, el disco "The Waymaker" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, "Kingdom of heaven", a juzgar ya solo por el título una vez más se deduce que la temática es cristiana, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Berzerker Legion - Of Blood And Ash

OF  BLOOD  AND  ASH

Un poquito de death melódico a cargo hoy de la banda internacional europea Berzerker Legion, un contundente combo que comienza su andadura como banda en 2016 y que en todo este tiempo de actividad han editado dos LP's de estudio (2020 y 2023). La banda la componen músicos con un largo recorrido en bandas en su carrera, así pues se trata de un proyecto que puede considerarse de garantía, con proyección y calidad. WAR

Vamos de nuevo a la escena sueca, que por lo general tantas alegrías nos da a los amantes de la calidad, hoy para recuperar otra canción de la banda Veonity, un grupo en clave de power metal de corte europeo lleno de melodía que va entrando ya en un momento de su carrera maduro, ya que llevan ya más de una década de actividad con cinco frutos compositivos en forma de LP, van poco a poco dando forma a una carrera que antes o después debería alcanzar cotas más elevadas de reconocimiento atendiendo a su buen hacer. Canciones para una vida - Halén - There's No Use

THERE'S  NO  USE

La banda sueca Halén, o lo que es lo mismo el proyecto del músico multi instrumentista y cantante Ola Halén, comenzó su andadura en 2015 y desde entonces ha editado dos LP's de estudio. Tras su paso y pertenencia a bandas como Insania o Shadow Past, Halén decide probar suerte en solitario, literalmente, pues en sus obras se encarga de todo él mismo, voz incluida. Su sonido es un power metal innegablemente sueco, euro power por lo tanto, limpio en la producción, y a pesar de ser auto producido no se echa en falta la mano de una discográfica detrás. Su primera obra "Nackscott" la edita en 2016 y la segunda, "Idleness" en 2020, y es de este segundo trabajo del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, concretamente "There's no use", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

HIGHWAY  TO  PARADISE

Vamos hoy con una vertinte musical más melodica, más cercana al hard melódico, pero de alto nivel, de esas bandas que se forman con colaboración de grandes músicos pertenecientes a bandas punteras de la escena sueca, un proyecto llamado "Gathering of kings", una buena "Reunión de reyes" que ya ha dejado tres LP's de estudio en los últimos años, el segundo de ellos de 2020 al que titularon "Discovery" y del que hoy dejo en el blog otra de sus canciones, "Highway to paradise" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Lonewolf - Manilla Shark

 

MANILLA  SHARK

Que bien ha sabido esta banda francesa terminar de dar forma a su sonido sin dejar por otra parte de ser fieles a su propuesta, siempre power, muy euro power pero de aire más aspero digamos, sobre todo desde una perspectiva vocal, sin llegar a los niveles de Grave Digger pero por ahí van los tiros. Como digo han dado forma a su sonido con una larga carrera a sus espaldas que comenzo allá por 1992, aunque realmente desde 2002 empiezan a crear LP's, un total de 10 de los que este "Division Hades" de 2020 es el último de ellos hasta la fecha de esta reseña. Muy en la onda de los últimos discos dejo de este hoy un tema más en el blog, "manilla Shark", con todos los rasgos porpios de la banda, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

FATHER  WAR

Una propuesta muy nordica, un tanto oscura, lo cual es muy noruego, la de Hjelvik, la banda noruega que lleva el apellido del impulsor de la misma, Erlend Hjelvik, ex de varias bandas no demasiado conocidas, que en 2020 decide embarcarse en esta aventura en solitario en una onda de death vikingo con ciertas dosis de melodía, con líricas centradas en la mitología nórdico vikinga y que de momento, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, ha editado un único LP, "Welcome to hel" en 2020 y del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, sin ir más lejos el que abre la obra, "Father War" canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Stallion - All In

 

ALL  IN

Los germanos Stallion son una de esas bandas que por encima de todo beben del concepto clásico metálico, y partiendo de esa base en momentos se van a un entorno compositivo más veloz, más speedico, o hacia un aire de heavy de la vieja escuela e incluso aportando elementos más propios del  hard ochentero, el caso es que siempre muestran un interesante sonido que de momento, hasta la fecha de esta reseña han dado fruto en forma de tres LP's de estudio y tres EP's desde su formación en 2013. El último LP, (que no su material más reciente que es su EP "Christmatized" de 2020) es "Slaves of time", de 2020 también que mostraba alguna salida e incorparoción en la formación, (guitarra) que para nada ha supuesto un cambio en la proopuesta compositiva de la banda, asì pues ese arco compositivo clásico mencionado está en perfecta ejecución, y de esta obra quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, en concreto "All in", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Dynazty - Apex

 

APEX

Siempre que las bandas grandes, los buenos en su nicho sonoro, deciden que van a sacar un LP nuevo, si te gustan, desde que empiezan a mostrar sus primeras pinceladas hasta que sacan el susodicho LP a uno se el hace largo, y suele recurrir a la escucha a veces compulsiva de su material anterior ya quizá demasiado trillado. El nuevo disco de los suecos Dynazty saldrá en agosto y yo no he podido resistirme a machacar de nuevo su "The dark delight" de 2020, una obra ya muy recomendada en este blog y de la que hoy dejaré otro tema de los que la componen, y es que Dynazty ha llegado a ese punto de madurez y evolución que muestra inequivocamente un camino personal que ha ido cambiando según su momento para dejar un nexo común de calidad por encima de todo, otro ejemplo es este "Apex" de 2020, tema del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Crown Of Glory - Infinity

 

INFINITY 

"Infinity" es uno de los cortes más power de la propuesta que la banda suiza "Crown Of Glory" hace en el tercer LP de su carrera "Ad Infinitum", del pasado 2020, un album completo, en una calve melódica que hace un recorrido por diferentes tesituras compositivas que van desde el hard n heavy, al power. Se trata sin ningún lugar a dudas de una de esas bandas que te hacen pensar el motivo de que su carrera haya resultado ser tan irregular y al tiempo tan anónima para los grandes circuitos atendiendo a su calidad. Llevando desde 2001 en activo se antoja un corto bagage tan solo tres LP's completados con dos EP's, pero ya sabemos que la calidad y el reconocimiento no necesariamente tienen que ir de la mano. en definitiva, si no conoces a la banda "Ad infinitum" es una obra que te ayudará mucho a apreciar su sonido, como por ejemplo a través del tema que hoy dejo en el blog, "infinity", como decía al inicio quizá una de las propuestas más contundentes del album, pero llena de matices, cambios de ritmo, un tema para disfrutar del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Brother Firetribe - Bring On The Rain

 

BRING  ON  THE  RAIN

Vamos con un grupo de nuevo más orientado al hard melódico, con rasgos absolutamente ochenteros y un aire en ocasiones algo electrónico, los finlandeses Brother Firetribe de los que ya he hablado en el blog en alguna otra ocasión, y las que vendrán porque al final la calidad siempre merece un hueco, al menos en este blog, y estos tíos de eso saben mucho. La carrera de la banda siempre se me ha antojado un tanto irregular, pero solo en el sentido de la continuidad, me resulta demasiado escasa su producción de obras teniendo en cuenta su longevidad, (se formaron en 2002 y cuentan con cinco LP's de estudio, el último de ellos, "feel the burn" de 2020. Desde luego algo tendrá que ver en ello su estrecha relación de compartir miembros con la tambien banda finlandesa "Leverage", de la que he hablado tambien en el blog, tras su disociación definitiva de ambas parece que las dos han alcanzado una mayor velocidad de crucero en sus carreras respectivas. Del citado último LP de la banda hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, en esta ocasión "Bring on the rain", con todos esos elementos que caracterizan el sonido de la banda, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Mors Principium Est - March To War

 

MARCH  TO  WAR

Si hablamos de death melódico, es casi una norma lo de encontrar mayor calidad a medida que nos adentramos en el norte, y en concreto el facturado en escandinavia tiene ese sello especial que engancha tanto. Finlandia, evidentemente es uno de los hogares naturales predilectos para el subgénero y en un nicho sonoro tan propicio desarrollan su carrera "Mors Principium Est" desde 1999, de una manera ininterrumpida, a su paso, casi sin hacer ruido pero con esa calidad que al final siempre se impone y así debería siempre ser. Su paso relativamente tranquilo ha dejado ya siete LP's de estudio que parecen incrementar su calidad obra a obra, con la madurez de una banda con ya dos décadas a sus espaldas. Hoy, dejo otra muestra del buen hacer del grupo en su "Seven" de 2020, en concreto el tema "March to war", adictivo estribillo que anidará en tu cerebro, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Starblind - Here I Am

 

HERE  I  AM

Otra banda sueca, una más de las que han escogido el sonido power de corte europeo para desarrollar su carrera. Es un grupo también de los que llevan ya una trayectoria media en esto del heavy metal, formados en 2013 han editado un total de cuatro LP's de estudio, el último de ellos, "Black Bubbling Ooze" del pasado 2020. Si bien no han cosechado aún un gran reconocimiento no hacen para nada mal las cosas respecto a otras bandas teniendo su propuesta power un toque a heavy metal clásico, reminiscencias de bandas de toda la vida. La estabilidad de la banda en bastante ya que todos los miembros de la misma siguen desde el comienzo a excepción del cantante que actualmente lleva desde 2016 Markus Olkerud, conocido por ejemplo también por su trabajo en "Palantir", banda de la que ya he hablado en el blog. Volviendo a su último trabajo a fecha de esta reseña, "Black Bubbling Ooze" de 2020, quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, en concreto "Here I Am", versión de un tema de los también suecos "Danger", imagino que algo tendrá que ver que un ex gutarrista de la citada banda forme parte desde los inicios de "Starblind", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Downcast Twilight - Sawney's Hunger

 

SAWNEY'S  HUNGER

Downcast Twilight es una banda británica que centra su sonido en un death melódico y lleno de matices folk nórdicos, con una tendencia atmosférica un poco a lo "falkenbach" aunque su sonido difiere en cierta medida de lo porpuesto por estos últimos. Se trata de una de esas bandas con una carrera un poco a su aire, con apoyo de sellos menores o de ninguno, como en su última obra "Alba gu brath" de 2020 que autoeditaron de forma independiente y digital. Sin ir a ser considerados una de esas bandas que cambien el panorama internacional, sin embargo si que dejan perlas aquí y allá en una propuesta que puede resultar del agrado de varios tipos de seguidores. En activo desde 2015 han editado un total de 3 LP's de estudioen estos años de actividad y hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su tercer trabajo, "Alba gu brath", como digo de 2020, en concreto la canción que abre la obra "Sawney's Hunger" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

FIRE  AND  BLOOD

Nueva muestra de la buena salud que la escena griega tiene en la actualidad, en este caso centrandonos en otro de los característicos estilos tan cultivados en esas tierras como es el subgénero power épico, con esa actitud true que tanto ha brillado como digo en las escenas griega o italiana. Hablamos hoy de una banda de reciente formación, 2020, y que en ese mismo año de formación editaron el que hasta la fecha de esta reseña es su primer y único LP de estudio, "Fire and blood". Todos los ingredientes presentes en el citado subgénero los encontramos aquí, en una obra autoproducida y un tanto corta, apenas 30 minutos pero que resulta ser una presentación enorme de lo que es un primer esfuerzo compositivo. Canciones para una vida - Feuerschwanz - Lords Of Powermet

 

LORDS  OF  POWERMET 

2020 fue un gran año en lo que a discos importantes y bandas viejas y nuevas editando material, uno de esos grupos fue "Feuerschwanz", los alemanes que dieron un golpe de timón respecto a lo que venía siendo su trayectoria, más que en lo estilístico en sí mismo, en la actitud, en la seriedad digamos, puesto que venían desarrollando una carrera enfocada hacia ese planteamiento jocoso, un tanto humorístico, algo en linea a lo hecho por banda como Grailknights, Nanowar of steel, Jaldaboath u otros, solo que estos dirigiendose a un sonido más medieval o folk. Como digo, 2020 les hizo intentar una perspectiva más "ordinaria", en lo que a actitud, más seria y la verdad es que les ha salido un LP alucinante que les ha puesto para muchos en el mapa metálico internacional. Cantado en su alemán materno, el grupo toca varios estilos, entre ellos incluso el flirteo con el power como en este tema que hoy dejo en el blog, "Lords of powermet", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Cruachan - The Hawthorn

 

THE  HAWTHORN

Con ocho LP's de estudio en su discografía a fecha de esta reseña, los Irlandeses Cruachan llevan ya desde 2018 sin editar disco de estudio, tan solo una canción en forma de single "The Hawthorn" en 2020 ha sido su producción más reciente, eso sí, con todos los elementos característicos de su sonido que apunta siempre hacia ese celtic folk metal con aire oscuro. Este tema llega en un momento particular de la historia de la banda con la salida de varios de los miembros de siempre de ella, aunque a juzgar por su sonido no parece haber demasiados motivos para la preocupación, veremos si este single es el preludio, (un poco largo ya) de un nuevo LP. THIS  IS  WAR

Volviendo a la segunda de las obras de los suecos "Tungsten", esa banda de la que ya he hablado en varias ocasiones en el blog, quiero hoy dejar otra de las canciones que constituyen el segundo LP, "Tundra" de 2020, donde se pone de manifiesto esa aparente facilidad para crear melodías de las que se meten instantaneamente en la cabeza, evidentemente este grupo tiene influencias muy variadas y su sonido no será del todo del agrado de los amantes de géneros menos adornados, pero cuando se ponen en plan power europeo son capaces de enganchar a todo seguidor del subgénero con las primeras escuchas. Canciones para una vida - Wolftooth - Valhalla

 

VALHALLA

Wolftooth es una banda estadounidense de esas a las que podríamos incluir en la denominación de NWOTHM, esa nueva ola de heavy metal tradicional que ha explotado en la última década, a nivel internacional y que podemos denominar así haciendo un guiño a la archi conocida NWOBHM que tanto hizo a comienzos de la década de los ochenta por nuestro heavy metal. Wolftooth, por lo tanto, gusta de ese sonido clásico y original de heavy metal de la old school, Formados en 2017 han editado hasta la fecha de esta reseña, dos LP's de estudio, el segundo de ellos, "Valhalla" de 2020, y de este disco quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, en concreto el que da nombre al disco, "Valhalla" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Lords Of Black - Into The Black

 

INTO  THE  BLACK

"Lords of black", otra de esas bandas que tenía como tarea traer al blog, siendo sin duda alguna, quizá junto con "Whaldemar" una de las bandas españolas con mayor proyección internacional. Desde luego, dicha proyección se debe a muchos factores, el tipo de sonido y producción muy euro power, con ese punto a lo "Masterplan", y en lo personal la contribución vocal de Ronnie Romero quien ha dado ya muestras en muchos proyectos paralelos del estatus que ya ha alcanzado a nivel internacional. Si a todo eso sumamos la cierta estabilidad de la banda y su casi matemática costumbre de sacar LP cada dos años, tenemos un proyecto musical con todas las garantías para seguri su camino de crecimiento y reconocimiento futuros. "Lords of black"  se forma en 2014 y desde ese mismo año comienzan a editar material de estudio siendo "Alchemy Of Souls Part 1" su cuarto LP, editado el pasado mes de noviembre de 2020. Como digo power metal con ese componente melódico, en algunos tramos ese aire hasta progresivo, muy en la línea de bandas como Masterplan. De este cuarto LP hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, "Into the black" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
