CUSTER'S  LAST  STAND

Finalmente la escisión de la banda Sabaton, dio lugar a la formación de Civil War, una fuga de miembros casi masiva que sin embargo, y con solo una excepción, ha encontrado la estabilidad en este refugio compositivo llamado Civil War que ya se alarga por más de una década y que en su última obra parecen incluso crecer, también con la incorporación del nuevo cantante Kelly Sundown, que para mí le da un plus, lo que unido al espectacular acierto compositivo general de la obra, muestra ese nivel ascendente al que me refiero, veremos en el futuro cual será el sendero del grupo o hasta donde les llevará. Hoy dejo otro de los temas de este "Invaders" del pasado 2022, en concreto "Custer's last stand" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

 Out in the Northern Plains,

He advanced his forces too quickly and was trapped by the Sioux 

Here was Custer's Last Stand, near Little Big Horn Surrounded in Montana

 where all of his troops were murdered.

 It's the same tale by historians over 9, 000 Sioux. 

That they were outnumbered should be apparent to you. 

Tactical blunder, it makes one wonder, 

What the hell was George thinking? What was he thinking? 

The government wanted sone land that was called the 

Black Hills Breaking Indian treaties should give everyone the chills,

 Let's take all the land, the chain of command. 

Wo, oh, what we want to know, why did those men go? 

Here was Custer's Last Stand, where he met his fate, 

His remains were taken back, to West Point cemetary.

BATTLE  OF  LIFE

Echando la mirada atrás, uno se da cuenta de que Civil War es una banda que tienen ya una trayectoria media, ya casi larga como banda, aunque es de esos grupos que me hacen pensar lo contrario, no se por que me sucede con alguna banda esto, como es el caso de esta excisión de Sabaton que formaron su propio grupo desde 2012, y ya desde ese momento editaron material propio de estudio hasta completar un total de un EP inicial y cuatro LP's incluido este último "Invaders" del presente 2022 y para el que cuentan con cambio de vocalista, para mi gusto un punto positivo pues al final el particular concepto interpretativo de Patrik Johansson no me terminaba de convencer. Asi pues con Kelly Sundown en sus filas nos dejan el disco "invaders", para mi gusto un paso más adelante de esta banda, y del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube de su canción "Battle of life".

Canciones para una vida - Civil War - Oblivion

 

OBLIVION

Ayer mismo fue la fecha oficial para la salida a la venta del cuarto LP de estudio de los suecos Civil War, una banda que se formo por la separación de parte de la banda Sabaton y que poco a poco y con paso firme va dando pasos adelante hacia cotas más altas, y en este caso además hay algún cambio en la formación, como el caso del vocalista Kelly Sundown Carpenter, o del guitarrista Thobbe Englund, cambios que parecen sentar muy bien al grupo a juzgar por lo escuchado. Este "Invaders", que es como se titula esta cuarta obra, trata de eventos históricos en lo que a temática lírica se refiere, con variados temas que se centran en temas de batallas y épicos, envuelto en un sonido que teniendo aún claras las bases de heavy metal salta hacia el power y denota elementos sinfónicos aquí y allá. El tema que la abre se llama "Oblivion" de dicha canción dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

INVADERS

Cuarto LP de estudio de los suecos "Civil War", haciendo honor a su nombre nacidos de la excisión de su banda madre "Sabaton" en 2012, donde tres de sus miembros salieron de la banda por incompatibilidad entre los miembros creando "Civil War". Indudablemente asentados como banda, lanzarán la citada cuarta obra "Invaders" a mediados de junio. Una vez más, a juzgar por lo que se desprende de su primer adelanto, un heavy power de raices clásicas en el que se debe notar el cambio de cantante, saliendo Patrik Johansson que da el relevo a Kelly Sundown además de la incorporación de Thobbe Englund a la guitarra. El primer adelanto es el tema que da nombre a la obra, "Invaders", y de él dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

DEAD  MAN'S  GLORY

Poca información aún encontramos sobre este tema de Civil War, "Dead Man's Glory", un nuevo single que de momento no se si formará parte del siguiente material que edite la banda en forma de LP y que supondría ya la cuarta obra de estudio de la banda sueca. Como todo el mundo sabe Civil War se forma tras la separación de parte de Sabaton que se unieron bajo esa denominación. Se puede leer en la página oficial de la banda que para celebrar el 20 aniversario de Sabaton los exmiembros del grupo formaron parte del espectáculo que dio la banda en vivo, así que veremos hacia donde se desarrollan los acontecimientos. De todas maneras, sea como fuere aquí tenemos una nueva canción de Civil War con las virtudes propias del grupo, incluyendo un solo de guitarra de Thobbe Englund, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

COLOURS ON MY SHIELD

Civil war es otra de esas bandas que se forman al romperse la armonía en una gran banda ya asentada, como en este caso los suecos Sabaton. Así, en 2012, tras el rotundo éxito que el grupo Sabaton obtuvo con su "Carolus Rex",  Daniel Mullback (Batería), Rikard Sundén (Guitarra), Daniel Myhr (Teclados) y Oskar Montelius (Guitarra), deciden dejar su banda madre de la que eran miembros fundadores desde 1999, y crear juntos el grupo "Civil War". Para completar su alineación se hacen con los servicios de Nils Patrik Johansson (Cantante), que militaba en Astral Doors y ex de Lion's Share, y completan su "line up" con Stefan "Pizza" Eriksson al Bajo. Con un contrato previo con la discográfica "Napalm Records", a Civil War se le puso la condición de grabar un EP como preparación para la campaña previa a la salida de su primer larga duración. El EP, de título homónimo a la banda "Civil War" sale en ese mismo 2012, y es muy bien acogida por crítica y público. En 2013 se lanza su primer larga duración, de título "The Killer Angels", precedido por tres singles, "I will rule the universe", "Saint Patrick's day"  y  "Fist to fight", que demuestran claramente el potencial del grupo y ayudaron en gran medida a que el álbum alcanzase en tan solo dos meses en Suecia el disco de oro, por lo tanto vendieron más de 20 000 copias solo en su nación. El disco es realmente recomendable, con una colección de canciones que prometían una exitosa carrera para la banda. Hace solo unas semanas han editado su segundo disco de estudio, "Gods and Generals", un disco esperado con expectación por mi parte, que sin embargo, personalmente no ha llenado todas esas expectativas que yo había puesto en él, y desde luego que no es un mal disco, ni mucho menos, es que yo esperaba algo más como sucesor de su magnifico debut, y es que esta segunda obra tiene algunos altibajos en las canciones, con temas que no creo que peguen demasiado y otros magníficos muy en la onda de su "The Killer angels" de 2013. Quedemonos solo con lo bueno y por ello quiero dejar una de las canciones que me han gustado del disco, en concreto uno de los bonus track de la edición limitada, de título "Colours on my shield", una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Su heavy - power metal de corte moderno pero con ese toque clásico es fácil de oír y enganchón, como se demuestra en temas como "Saint Patrick's day", uno de los singles de adelanto a los que antes me refería y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
