BLACK  DREAM

La escena germana está repleta de nombres importantes reconocidos por todos, pero también hay otros muchos que no han cosechado el éxito o reconocimiento y sin embargo han hecho méritos más que suficientes en lo suyo para que su nombre fuese más sonado. En este marco encontramos a la gran banda Dark At dawn, uno de esos grupos que han sabido buscarse su propio hueco sonoro en la escena metálica a pesar de lo dicho del reconocimiento general, se trata de una de esas bandas que han encontrado su propia mezcla de elementos para desarrollar una especie de power metal oscurote llenos de melodía, contundencia y dosis de épica en una carrera que abarcó entre 1993 y 2012 y que nos dejó un legado de 5 LP's de estudio más dos EP's. En 2002 deciden editar una especie de recopilación de temas descartados, o no elegidos de sus demos para los LP's como tal, que se tituló "First Beams of light" que nos demuestra el potencial de la banda a través de temas en un principio decartados pero de la calidad por ejemplo de este "Black Dream" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Dark At Dawn - Don't Pay The Ferryman

DON'T PAY THE FERRYMAN

Una gran banda alemana que se dedica al power metal con un toque oscuro al que quizás contribuya la peculiar voz de Thorsten Kohlrausch, un poco en la onda del cantante de Grave Digger, Chris Boltendahl. Dark at dawn comienza su andadura musical el año 1993, tiempo desde el que han sacado 4 discos de estudio y 2 EP's. De la formación inicial tan solo quedan el vocalista Thorsten Kohlrausch y el bajista Michael Lowin, y desde 2006, año en el que sacaron su disco homónimo al nombre del grupo, "Dark at Dawn", no han sacado más discos de estudio salvo el EP Noneternal en 2012. Hoy me quiero referir al que sin duda para mi es el mejor de sus discos en conjunto, al menos el que a mi más me gusta, su primera obra de estudio "Baneful Skies", de 1999, obra altamente recomendable en conjunto, de la que hoy quiero dejar el tema "Don't pay the Ferryman", una canción original del cantante de rock Chris De Burgh que Dark At dawn hizo suya mediante esta versión de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

AVALON

Una gran banda alemana que se dedica al power metal con un toque oscuro al que quizás contribuya la peculiar voz de Thorsten Kohlrausch, un poco en la onda del cantante de Grave Digger, Chris Boltendahl. Dark at dawn comienza su andadura musical el año 1993, tiempo desde el que han sacado 4 discos de estudio y 2 EP's. De la formación inicial tan solo quedan el vocalista Thorsten Kohlrausch y el bajista Michael Lowin, y desde 2006, año en el que sacaron su disco Homónimo, este Dark At Dawn del que sacamos la canción Avalon a la que hoy quiero referirme, no han sacado más discos de estudio salvo el EP Noneternal en 2012. Avalon es una de mis canciones favoritas de la banda, con un toque épico y que sirve bien para hacernos una idea de la calidad de este grupo, aunque posiblemente si tengo que escoger todo un album me quedaría con el Baneful Skies de 1999 su primer LP al que me referiré más adelante en el blog. Recomiendo acercarse a esta buena banda pues tiene muy buenos temas en su discografía además de un estilo muy personal. Dejo un enlace a youtube.
