WARNING  OF  DANGER

Otro clásico como Omen que ayuda a ilustrar lo que fue el inicio de esto del heavy metal, más concretamente en su versión estadounidense, de esa escuela que junto con la europea fueron impulsores de un sonido que con el tiempo acabaría por globalizarse aún más pero que tuvo en estas dos escuelas su principal motor. Ya he hablado de esta obra con anterioridad, "Warning of Danger", de 1985, el segundo LP de la banda, y hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de las canciones destacables del mismo, concretamente el que da nombre a la obra, "Warning of danger", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube, Heavy metal americano de la vieja escuela, 100%.

RUBY  EYES  (OF  THE  SERPENT)

Segundo LP de otra de esas bandas consideradas, con todo merecimiento en este caso, como de culto, dentro de lo que es el heavy metal de la vieja escuela y en esta ocasión de la estadounidense. Se trata por supuesto de Omen, y su proto power metal, ya que esta banda fue de las primeras en hacer intuir por donde iría años más tarde el sonido power metal. La banda se formó en Los Ángeles en 1983, y ha tenido dos periodos de actividad, una primera fase entre 1983 y 1988 y una segunda desde 1996 hasta hoy en día, de hecho hace escasamente un mes han editado el que es su séptimo LP, que han titulado "Hammer damage" y del que hablaré seguramente en este blog un día de estos. Llevaban ya 13 años de silencio desde 2003 y todo hacía pensar en lo peor, pero han dado a sus fieles una obra más para aumentar su leyenda personal. Es evidente que "lo gordo" a nivel compositivo lo hicieron en sus inicios, y a ellos quiero volver hoy al referirme a su segunda obra, "Warning of danger", de 1985, que venía a dar continuación a su extraordinario debut "Battle cry" del 84. Al igual que en su debut, en este "Warning of danger" encontramos un buen puñado de buenísimos temas que han forjado con todo merecimiento su leyenda, como este "Ruby eyes (of the serpent)", del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

DEATH  RIDER

Omen es una de esas bandas americanas de heavy metal que fueron de las primeras en hacer intuir por donde iría años más tarde el sonido power metal. La banda se formó en Los Ángeles en 1983, y ha tenido dos periodos de actividad, una primera fase entre 1983 y 1988 y una segunda desde 1996 hasta supuestamente la actualidad, y digo supuestamente porque en cuanto a material nuevo llevan desde 2003 sin editar nada, aunque su actividad en directo si que sigue siendo grande. Como decía su heavy-power metal se basa en el concepto clásico y les gusta nutrirse de fantasía épica que se ve reflejada en su sonido desde el comienzo. Igualmente se les nota la escuela estadounidense, aunque en ocasiones nos regalan tramos muy "maidenianos", en definitiva, gran sonido de la old school. Han editado un total de 6 LP's y un EP a lo largo de su carrera. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro tema de su primer larga duración, "Battle cry", de 1984, en concreto el tema "Death Rider", del que dejo un enlace a youtube. Gran e interesante banda de la que no será la última ocasión que hable en el blog.
