ROCK  'N  ROLL  MACHINE

Los canadienses Triumph son un ejemplo más de lo delgada que puede ser la línea entre el hard rock y el heavy, y son una de esas bandas que flirtearon con ese sonido, sobre todo en la parte inicial de su carrera cuando incluso el sonido heavy estaba aún por definirse y explotar, y es que los canadienses comenzaron como banda en 1975, y con un periodo de actividad hasta el presente realmente a nivel compositivo se les puede seguir la pista hasta mitad de los 90. Cosschan un notable éxito de ventas muy desde el inicio, y hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su segundo album de estudio, "Rock 'n roll machine" de 1977, como decía más arriba en sus momentos más hard 'n heavy como en el tema que da nombre a la obra y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Triumph - Ordinary Man

 

ORDINARY  MAN

Los canadienses "Triumph" parecen un ejemplo apropiado para ilustrar esa otra vertiente que el sonido original creado por y para la guitarra electrica tomó para desarrollar un sendero paralelo que en ocasiones se entrecruza con el heavy metal creando muchas veces un límite demasiado pequeño como para apreciarse, en esas ocasiones hablamos de ese sonido hard 'n heavy, que ya desde comienzos de los 80 se fue dando aquí y allá a lo largo y ancho del planeta. Como digo, los canadienses "Triumph" siempre se centraron en esa vertiente más hard rockera, pero presentan a lo largo de su carrera momentos que rozan ese heavy metal. Creados en 1975, han editado a fecha de esta reseña un total de 10 LP's de estudio entre 1976 y 1993. El quinto de esos LP's fue "Allied Forces" de 1981, un año en el que el heavy metal despuntaba como tal ya a nivel planetario y que dejo un cierto influjo en la obra de la banda que por otra parte se puede sin duda catalogar como hard rock. una obra que vendió más de un millón de copias solo en Estados Unidos, y de la que se pueden extraer temas como este "Ordinary Man" que hoy dejo en el blog, una canción bastante larga, en torno a 7 minutos y medio, con un inicio tranquilo pero que alcanza a lo largo del tema un climax en una clave algo progresiva incluso, una buena muestra de lo que es capaz de ahecr esta gran banda, una canción como digo de 1981 de la que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Triumph - Too Much Thinking

 

TOO  MUCH  THINKING

Creo que una de las grandes cosas para que la década de los ochenta llegase a ser el mito que es hoy en día y que seguirá siendo en lo que al sonido heavy metal se refiere, es esa tendencia natural a que todas las bandas del mundillo tratasen de acercarse al citado sonido de una manera u otra, ya sea por arriba o por abajo, desde el hard rock o hacia el thrash, y el proto power, o proto black, al final siempre había una gran base heavy que hermanaba mucho esos variopintos sonidos y quizá por eso sean tan reconocibles las bandas de esa década más allá de la producción acorde a los tiempos que corrian. Hoy quiero acercarme al sonido más hard' n heavy encarnado en los canadienses "Triumph", una vez más una banda que a pesar del cartel, de la relativa fama no ha gozado del reconocimiento necesario en virtud a su carrera y calidad. 10 LP's de estudio entre 1976 y 1992 hablan de una carrera centrada en ese arco compositivo entre el heavy metal y el AOR pasando por el hard rock, en su mayor parte. Quizá la época más heavy se corresponda a los inicios de la década de los 80 donde para muchos dieron lo mejor de sí. Su sexto album de estudio de llama "Never Surrender", quizá no sea el más reconocido de su carrera, editado en 1983, pero es igualmente un ejemplo de buen hacer como en el tema que dejo hoy en el blog perteneciente a esta obra, "Too much thinking", para abrir el disco, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
