Einherjer - Alu Alu Laukar

ALU  ALU  LAUKAR 

Tras un lustro de silencio compositivo los noruegos Eiherjer publicaban en este 2026 el que supone ya su décimo LP de estudio en una carrera que comenzase allá por 1993. Es otra de esas bandas que ha sabido ir haciendo camino, con su propuesta vikinga, oscura, más minoritaria pero dentro del género absolutamente respetada. Ya echando la mirada atrás vemos una carrera nada desdeñable, y siempre es buen momento para resucitar viejos temas en las discografías de las bandas, en esta ocasión recuperando una de las canciones de su quinto disco "Norron", de 2011, del que dejo el tema "Alu Alu Laukar", una versión de otra banda noruega llamada "Ym:stammen",  y un enlace a youtube del mismo.

Battlelore - Bow And Helm

Los finlandeses Battlelore reactivaron su carrera en 2016 tras su descanso en 2011, después de su sexto album de estudio "Doombound", algo que cogió por sorpresa a todos sus seguidores, ya que la banda para nada parecía acusar un bajón ni nada por el estilo. Desde su retorno en 2016 un séptimo LP en 2022 que devolvía la ilusión a sus seguidores aunque de nuevo han pasado ya cuatro años desde ese momento. Axenstar - Dead Kingdom

DEAD  KINGDOM 

La quinta obra de estudio de los suecos Axenstar lleva por título "Aftermath" y es una buena manera de ilustrar lo incomprensible de que un grupo de esta talla no haya alcanzado mayores logros en terreno de reconocimiento, y es que hay bandas que parecen condenadas a un segundo plano hagan lo que hagan, independientemente de otro tipo de cuestiones, como la calidad o los méritos en comparación con otros fgrupos más reconocidos. Hablando de Power, la época (inicios de los 2000), el estilo, Power, o Europower, y su escena natal, la sueca parecen ese combo que debería haber otorgado mayor fortuna a su carrera con ya ocho LP's de estudio a sus espaldas, sino, temas como este "Dead Kingdom" de su citado quinto LP de 2011, no deberían tener explicación, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Douxis Morte - Dragon Age

DRAGON  AGE 

Aprovechándose de que la parte final de la década de los 2000 y los inicios de los 10 eran propicias para este tipo de sonido, los checos Douxis Morte lo intentaron entre 2008 y 2014. Estamos por supuesto hablando del sonido death melódico de cariz folk, de influjo vikingo y fantástico a partes iguales, una corriente a la que se apuntaron muchas bandas de los más diversos orígenes, y muchas de ellas, como el caso que nos ocupa, no llegaron apenas a mostrar más que una fracción de lo que pudiese haber sido atendiendo al potencial mostrado. En este caso concreto solo un EP en 2011, "Soulmates" con seis temas (o cuatro con intro y outro), fue el material que dejaron como testigo de su existencia antes de su separación en 2014. De dicho EP dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Dragon Age" como buena muestra de su potencial, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Turisas - Stand Up And Fight - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

STAND  UP  AND  FIGHT 

Turisas, o el misterio de una banda que desapareció sin dejar rastro cuando estaba muy alto entre la consideración de los amantes del death melódico de componente folk. Ya desde la salida de este disco que traigo hoy al blog, "Stand up and fight" allá por 2011, la crítica sacudió bastante a la banda por su cambio estilístico, o más bien por aumentar su accesibilidad al gran público, algo que se agudizaría en su cuarto y último LP dos años más tarde "Turisas2013". La verdad es que en esta ocasión su debut "Battle metal" resulta insuperable y cuando esto sucede, muchas veces las bandas parecen caer en una especie de lucha interna que en no pocas ocasiones termina por disolver a las bandas antes de tiempo, pero con Turisas exactamente no se que ha sucedido, desde 2024 consta su estatus como en pausa, pero doce años sin dar señales de vida compositiva son demasiados para tener esperanzas fundadas. Hoy quiero volver a su material publicado para recuperar el tema que dio nombre a su tercera obra, "Stand up and fight" de 2011, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

A FREE  MAN'S  PATH 

Practicamente imposible encontrar este disco en original a precio asequible, la primera obra de los finlandeses Brymir es uno de esos discos que automáticamente me hizo seguirles desde que empezaron, un disco que ya hablaba de sus virtudes y que mostraba el potencial que luego han ido confirmando. Hablamos de "Breath fire to the sun" y hablamos de 2011, con temas como este "A free man's path" que dejo hoy en el blog.

Fullforce - Rain - Canciones Para Una Vida

  

RAIN

Nuevo vistazo a otra de esas bandas que nacieron con la idea de "supergrupo", colaboración de músicos de renombre, con esa sensación de que hiciesen lo que hiciesen debería sonar bien, algo que como concepto no debería darse por hecho, al final no solo se trata de talento, las luchas de egos, las expectativas o la variedad de planteamientos compositivos a veces incompatibles pueden cambiar la dirección de uno de estos proyectos, aunque al tratarse de músicos de calidad, esta se da por sentado y en este caso así fue sin duda, fue porque la banda - proyecto solo da para dos cartuchos, dos LP's (2011 y 2012) antes de diluirse, pero habiendo dejado su impronta a traves del trabajo realizado. Canciones para una vida - Iced Earth - Dystopia

DYSTOPIA

El album "Dystopia" de los estadounidenses "Iced Earth" marca uno de los cambios de vocalista que ha experimentado la banda a lo largo de su historia. No es que hayan sido muchos pero la característica forma interpretativa del anterior cantante ponía en la cuerda floja en cierto sentido al grupo por la acogida que tendría el nuevo músico, en un puesto tan evidente a todos como es el de cantante. Pero como casi todo lo que hace esta banda la incorporación de Stu Block, salido del anonimato general, fue todo un acierto. Si a ello añadimos la homogenea capacidad compositiva de la banda desde sus inicios en un nivel alto como acostumbran el resultado no podría ser mejor, y es que en "Dystopia" encontramos una resolución perfecta a ese "peligro" tan común en los grupos que es la ida y venida de músicos que en no pocas ocasiones ha supuesto el cierre definitivo para no pocas bandas. Canciones para una vida - Fullforce - Father Spirit

FATHER  SPIRIT

Es una garantía de éxito casi siempre juntar a grandes músicos, sobre todo si es de una escena tan importante y contrastada como la sueca, En esta ocasión ese concepto - proyecto, se encarnó en la banda "Fullforce", que reunió a nombres tan contrastados como Stefan Elmgrem a la guitarra (Hammerfall, etc) o Anders Johansson a la batería (Hammerfall, Stratovarius, etc), por citar los más reconocibles. Estamos hablando de un power metal muy de la escuela europea nórdica, un poco en una onda "Hammerfall" pero no exactamente, encarnada en este proyecto que solo dio como fruto dos LP's (2011 y 2012) para quedarse un poco en el "limbo" tras ese par de obras sin editar nada posteriormente. Formados en 2008 oficialmente a día de hoy no se han separado, sin embargo desde el citado segundo disco de 2012, "Next Level", como digo no han editado nada más. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su debut, "One" de 2011, una obra bien recomendable si lo tuyo es el power de corte europeo, y de la que hoy dejo en el blog la canción "Father Spirit", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Inner Axis - The Last Stand (Of The 300)

THE  LAST  STAND  (OF  THE  300)

Regresando a la música de esta banda alemana, "Inner Axis", hoy quiero echar un vistazo al comienzo de su producción musical, al primero de los LP's que editaron, en una carrera más larga de lo que su producción musical puede indicar, ya que dos LP's se antojan escasos, más aún mirando el nivelón del debut del grupo. Centrandonos en esta primera obra, volvemos atrás hasta el año 2011, cuando el grupo había cambiado aún recientemente su nombre de "Midgard" a "Inner Axis". Estamos hablando de un heavy power metal de buena ejecución, de una composición en ese momento de un cierto sabor épico, un tanto en el plan de las bandas griegas o italianas pero con un aire más tecnico si se quiere, de la escuela germana. Como digo, un debut más que interesante del que hoy quiero dejar una de sus canciones, concretamente "The last stand (of the 300)", temazo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Iron Savior - Hall Of The Heroes

HALL  OF  THE  HEROES

Uno de mis temas preferidos de la banda alemana "Iron Savior" es este "Hall of the heroes" perteneciente al séptimo disco de estudio del grupo, del año 2011. Es fácil apostar por un grupo en el que grandes nombres lo avalan, y el de Piet Sielk por derecho propio debe colocarse bien alto, no solo por sus virtudes vocalistas y guitarreras sino además también por su enorme labor como técnico de sonido y productor. Estamos sin duda alguna ante una figura que finalmente tendrá que recibir el reconocimiento que sin duda merece, y aquellos que no lo quieran ver tan solo deberían ver a Iron Savior en vivo para darse cuenta de la magnitud de la banda y músico . Este séptimo disco de Iron Savior es una buena prueba de como hacer un buen disco de power metal, sin demasiados adornos, con una formula que funciona desde el comienzo de la banda, una obra de la que hoy dejo en el blog "Hall of the heroes", un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Fjordfader - I Viking

I  VIKING

No solo encontramos grandes temas en bandas consolidadas o en grupos con extensas carreras, es algo que es evidente, los grupos pequeños, las bandas que incluso, como es el caso que nos ocupa hoy, no han logrado ir más allá de una demo, tienen también su ocasión, tienen ese derecho a ser considerados como parte del conjunto global del heavy metal, y suele ser siempre un territorio muy resultón de búsqueda de canciones, si se tiene la paciencia y las ganas de ir más allá de lo evidente o lo conocido. Es cierto que no en pocas ocasiones ese sonido está demasiado condicionado por la calidad técnica obtenida en una producción que apenas sí puede ir más allá de la autoproducción, pero a pesar de ello siempre puede uno llevarse una sorpresa positiva. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una canción de uno de esos grupos que no llegó a ir más allá de una demo, se trata de los noruegos "Fjordfader", y de su demo "Hyllest til hordaland" de 2011, compuesta por cuatro interesantes temas en clave de viking death melodic metal, por tratar de acotarlo, y de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog la canción "I Viking" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Amorphis - Battle For Light

BATTLE  FOR  LIGHT

De nuevo una de las bandas más en forma del momento, en una carrera tan larga como exitosa, con etapas distintas sobre todo encarnadas en la presencia o no de Tomy Joutsen en el grupo, una influencia que ha hecho crecer exponencialmente al grupo encumbrandolo a la cima en la que actualmente se mantiene pro derecho propio y por aclamación popular de un amplio espectro del panorama metálico dentro de los seguidores, y es que la amplitud compositiva de una banda como esta con la calidad añadida por defecto hace que la repercusión de sus trabajos trascienda un solo subgénero. Hoy quiero volver a la época "Joutsen", para referirme al décimo disco de estudio del grupo, "The Beginning of times", obra que era la heredera de un momento excepcional de la banda tras la entrega anterior de su aclamado "Skyforger" de 2009. Un disco este "Begining of times" de 2011 que toma bien el relevo de su predecesor, volviendo un poco si se quiere a unas raíces más death, aunque siempre con el sello melódico, de coros impolutos de la era "Joutsen", con ese ir y venir del sonido aspero al limpio en una transición perfecta, en su justa medida en cada uno de los apartados. Canciones para una vida - Numenor - The Legend Of The Master Ring

THE  LEGEND  OF  THE  MASTER  RING

Volviendo a los orígenes de este grupo serbio, "Numenor", del que ya he hablado en el blog, nos encontramos con un rango compositivo que poco a poco se ha ido tornando más "Power" digamos, siempre con el trasfondo black que ha caracterizado su carrera, pero siendo este rasgo black más notable a medida que miramos más hacia los comienzos. Unos inicios en los que la banda apuntaba claramente hacia ese concepto épico, con letras sobre fantasía, como no puede ocultar su nombre, y que ya pusieron dicho concepto de manifiesto en sus dos "EP's" iniciales, uno de los cuales quiero traer al blog hoy, concretamente el primero, "Opus Draconis" de 2011. Cuatro temas lo componen, como digo con un concepto algo más black, y de ellos hoy dejo en el blog la versión que hacen de una canción de "Summoning", concretamente "The legend of the master ring" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Iron Mask - Black As Death

BLACK  AS  DEATH

 Hablar de esta banda es hacerlo del guitarrista Dushan Petrossi, principal compositor e impulsor de este grupo belga, Iron Mask, y como ya he mencionado en varias ocasiones alterna su trabajo con el otro proyecto principal que tiene dentro de esto de la música, la banda "Magic Kingdom" que en noviembre verá lanzado su quinto trabajo de estudio. Parece ir alternando la salida de material entre una y otra banda, y siempre es un buen momento para repasar sus trabajos pasados pues ambos grupos son sinónimo de calidad, sobre todo si lo tuyo es el sonido power con un tinte neoclásico si se quiere en ocasiones. Hoy quiero repasar el cuarto trabajo de estudio de los seis que, hasta la fecha de este reseña, tiene editado el grupo, uno de los discos de la banda que más me gustan en su conjunto y de la que como digo quiero dejar otro tema en el blog, el disco es "Black as death" de 2011 y la canción el tema homónimo al título de la obra, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Nightwish - Storytime

STORYTIME


Nadie puede dudar de la capacidad de esta banda finlandesa de captar la atención de las masas, casi siempre para bien, aunque también para recibir críticas. Yo, realmente nunca me he declarado particularmente seguidor del grupo, primero por unos motivos y luego por otros, la parte inicial me parecía, a nivel compositivo excelente, muy interesante, aunque en lo interpretativo, y ahí es donde mucha gente no estará de acuerdo conmigo, el tema vocal de Tarja siempre me resultó demasiado "indigesto", después, lo que menos me ha ido gustando de la banda ha sido el exceso de orquestación, que a medida que aumentaba la iba alejando de una tesitura más heavy en muchas ocasiones, aunque en lo vocal, para mí, mejorase con Anette olzon, nuevamente mucha gente estará en desacuerdo con ello. Sea como sea, lo que ninguno dudamos es la importancia de este grupo a nivel internacional y la calidad que poseen.Este disco que hoy traigo al blog, "Imaginaerum", de 2011, supone el séptimo en la carrera de Nightwish, el segundo tras la salida de Tarja. Igualmente será el último de Anette Olzon que terminará su historia con la banda poco después, pero es en el que Anette alcanza un equilibrio mayor ya que la obra es la única compuesta para su forma de cantar, recordemos que en su disco anterior, el primero con Anette, "Dark Passion Play" estaba ya escrito para Tarja y no se adaptaba tanto a las cualidades vocales de Anette. Sea como sea hoy quiero dejar en el blog el primer single de "Imaginaerum", "Storytime", un tema muy vendible desde luego, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Children Of Bodom - Roundtrip To Hell And Back

ROUNDTRIP  TO  HELL  AND  BACK

 "Relentless, Reckless forever" es el séptimo álbum de la banda finlandesa "Children Of Bodom", y es además uno de esos controvertidos discos, una de esas obras que los más acérrimos seguidores del grupo no han nunca aceptado en lineas generales, una obra que en algunos aspectos se sale de la linea compositiva de anteriores obras de la banda, para muchos para mal, pero que no tenemos que olvidarnos de que se trata de un álbum hecho por un grupo llamado "Children Of Bodom", un nombre unido a una reputación por algo. Así pues, siempre puede rescatarse como mínimo algo de cada obra de un grupo de este calibre, y esta ocasión no iba a ser una excepción. El caso es que hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a su tercer single de la citada "Relentless, Reckless forever" de 2011, en concreto este "Roundtrip to hell and back" del que dejo un enlace a youtube. Es indudable que la banda ha tenido momentos más inspirados que este álbum, y esperemos que sigan teniéndolos, por ejemplo en su próxima obra que parece ser están en proceso de grabación. Sea como sea, cuando hay calidad hay calidad.

Canciones para una vida - Hevisaurus - Rayh!

RAYH!

Como mínimo resulta interesante desde un punto de vista digamos "sociológico" el hecho de traer al blog a un grupo tan particular como este, máxime cuando resulta, ya de paso, más que interesante también a nivel musical. En lo sociológico, no es extraño que tenga que ser en un país como Finlandia donde haya un enfoque como este de heavy metal dedicado a niños, basta tan solo ver el número de bandas punteras en la escena internacional "per cápita" en un país con apenas 5 millones de habitantes. En lo musical, es que además la calidad que presenta la banda de dinosaurios es mucho mejor de lo que muchas bandas "normales" digamos quisieran llegar a alcanzar, y es que se nota que tras los disfraces hay músicos de primera linea, apareciendo nombres tales como Jens Johansson (Stratovarius, etc), Mikko Kossonen, Henrik Klingenberg (Sonata Arctica), Mikko Salovaara (Kiuas), etc. Hevisaurus comienzan a editar discos en 2009 y a fecha de esta reseña ya llevan editados 8 LP's. Hoy quiero dejar como ejemplo un tema de su tercer larga duración, "Rayh!", de 2011, en concreto el que da nombre a la obra, del que dejo un enlace a youtube. No es de extrañar que la escena finlandesa sea tan alucinante, y más teniendo en cuenta a las futuras generaciones que crecerán con unos héroes dinosaurios metalheads marcando su infancia, la verdad, da un poquito de envidia.

Canciones para una vida - Solar Fragment - Inside The Circle

INSIDE  THE  CIRCLE

En innumerables ocasiones he querido remarcar en el blog como muchas, muchísimas veces, calidad y reconocimiento y/o ventas no tienen porque ir de la mano, siendo en muchas ocasiones incluso inversamente proporcionales ambos conceptos, por lo cual una sana curiosidad por seguir descubriendo nuevas bandas o no tan nuevas es siempre, en mi humilde opinión, una gran idea para descubrir bandas de calidad. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de esos grupos que no han alcanzado los primeros puestos en las listas de ventas, por falta más de repercusión que de evidente calidad a poco que uno se pone con ellas. El de hoy es el grupo alemán "Solar Fragment", una banda de power metal con una ya larga trayectoria a sus espaldas que se ha traducido sin embargo en una corta producción musical, eso si, llena de impresionantes pinceladas de calidad. Solar Fragment se forma en 2004 y siguiendo en activo a día de hoy, teniendo solo dos LP's, a fecha de esta reseña, editados además de un EP de 2015 "From our hands" donde retoman tres temas de su segundo LP "In our hands" de 2011 desde una perspectiva acústica. Su primer larga duración "A spark of deity" se remonta a 2007. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog un tema de su segundo LP, "In Our Hands", concretamente uno en el que han contado con la colaboración de Hansi Kursch de Blind Guardian a la voz, motivo más que suficiente en si mismo para despertar la curiosidad de cualquier metalhead que se precie, pero es que además la calidad compositiva en clave de power europeo que se marcan en el tema y toda la obra debería haberles ofrecido una mayor repercusión. En fin, otra banda más para descubrir, hoy a través de este "Inside the circle" de 2011. esperemos que pronto editen algo de material nuevo. Dejo un enlace a youtube de este "Inside the circle".

Canciones para una vida - Amorgen - March To The Grave

MARCH  TO  THE  GRAVE

Amorgen es otra de esas prometedoras bandas que parece quedan en nada a las primeras de cambio. Estos holandeses forman en 2010 y su corto periplo musical terminó el año pasado con su separación definitiva, una auténtica lástima porque nos han dejado tan solo en ese tiempo un EP de 2011, "Awake the iron" con siete temas. Parece ser que dejaron a medias su primer LP, allá por 2013 pero por motivos sin especificar la banda deja su actividad. Su sonido es un death melódico con tintes folk de buena calidad y más que decente producción a pesar de editar este su único trabajo de manera independiente. Parece que la idea de la banda era hacer obras conceptuales, basadas en un mundo creado por ellos con nombres y situaciones fantásticos y un buen hacer musical que queda patente en lo poco que nos dejaron editado. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de los temas de su obra "Awake the iron", como digo de 2011, en concreto este "March to the grave" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
