Nueva obra a la vista del guitarrista griego Gus G. conocido y reconocido a nivel global y siempre respaldado por la calidad de sus obras. "Steel Burner" será su sexto LP de estudio en solitario, verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 24 de abril y para la ocasión ha contado con la colaboración de varios artistas internacionales de primera línea, en el apartado vocal, Matt Barlow, Ronnie Romero o Doro Pesch por nombrar los más conocidos y en el bajo Dennis Ward por ejemplo. Torian - Soul Vampires

SOUL  VAMPIRES 

Por fin noticias compositivas de los alemanes Torian. aunque sea en forma solo de un single que al menos demuestra que siguen activos, ya que desde su último LP publicado, ya en 2018, solo otro single en 2023 además de este citado "Soul Vampires" de este 2026 son testigos de su estatus activo como banda. Como siempre power metal de corte europeo, con el sello además en la producción una vez más de Seeb Levermann que ya resulta ser parte de la identidad sonora de la banda y a destacar también la estabilidad del grupo en que permanecen los mismos miembros casi desde su formación, así que no hay cambios desde 2005 lo que incluye todo su material publicado. Parece que los finlandeses Metal de Facto se sienten absolutamente cada vez más como una banda consolidada más que como un proyecto puntual, se nota que el grupo está cada vez más engrasado y en su tercer trabajo de estudio queda absolutamente patente. Crimson Glory - Angel Of My Nightmare

ANGEL  IN  MY  NIGHTMARE 

Los grandes nombres, sean lo masivos que sean, porque en ocasiones los grandes nombres no tienen porque ser bandas masivas, siempre van de la mano de un exceso de opiniones, parece que todos tenemos derecho a opinar en base a una trayectoria o a una época de éxito, pero los grupos tienen sus propias idiosincrasias, sus propios senderos y tiempos, épocas y cambios, forzados o elegidos, y del hecho de que sigan adelante, a pesar de todo o a pesar del largo tiempo transcurrido, debe leerse al menos la valentía de tener que enfrentarse a esas opiniones que vendrán seguro. Los estadounidense Crimson Glory es una de esas bandas, con las expectativas creadas, en una no demasiado extensa discografía pero con un renombre mítico, en un concepto algo más complejo como es siempre el toque progresivo, y enfrentándose a un largo silencio (de casi tres décadas) y con la pérdida de un miembro insustituible como el carismático vocalista Midnight, regresan en este 2026 con "Chasing the hydra", (17 abril), para mostrar la valentía, la capacidad y la ilusión. Los tiempos que corren hacen que uno deba ser muy visible a los potenciales fans, es un momento de fugacidad, todo va muy rápido y la oferta es casi ilimitada, así que las bandas recurren cada vez más a los singles entre obras, casi ciclicamente y Sabaton son maestros en eso. La excusa en esta ocasión para el single "Yamato" de este 2026 es la colaboración con el videojuego "World of warships" en el que el propio Joachim Broden resulta ser un jugador elegible para el juego. Otra banda más de reciente formación que va dando pasos adelante en su carrera son los noruegos Rozario, en una clave de heavy metal melódico, con rasgos hard, con ese regusto clásico ochentero. Sonata Arctica - Freedom Concept

FREEDOM  CONCEPT 

Los finlandeses Sonata Arctica, claro ejemplo de como desmoronar una reputación intachable, como desviar un camino para simplemente perderse, estan en este 2026 de vuelta a través de un nuevo single con la excusa de un aniversario. Un single cuyo título es "Freedom concept" que no hace sino reforzar esa idea de que quizá la banda se debería centrar en sacar solo singles en lugar de hacerlo con muchos temas de relleno y llamarlo LP, es evidente la capacidad compositiva de la banda, al igual que el hecho de que darle tantas vueltas a una composición en formato LP quizá les resulte contraproducente cuando renegar de la mejor y más aceptada parte de su carrera, indudablemente el inicio, no parece lo más inteligente si se quiere recuperar el centro que una vez tuvo la banda. Muy en la línea de lo que ahora hacen las bandas en el sentido de publicar material de una forma lo más continua posible, aunque sea a base de singles sueltos, que luego puedan o no ser parte de una nueva obra, los germanos Primal Fear sacan una nueva canción "One" en este 2026 a pesar de la cercanía de su último LP publicado en el recién pasado 2025. Highlord - Resurrection

 

 RESURRECTION

Los italianos Highlord son otra de esas bandas que han sabido ir adaptandose a sus circunstancias de cada momento para, basicamente, hacer subsistir su nombre a pesar de que poco o nada queda de la banda inicial que la hizo nacer a mediados de los 90. Comenzando en dicha época, en el marco del power metal, y con el omnipresente en aquel momento espejo de Rhapsody no solo para los italianos pero sobre todo para ellos, el grupo dio sus primeros pasos compositivos en dicha línea. Esa primera década en su carrera sería la más regular, con seis LP's entre 1999 y 2009, pero el cambio en su sonido iba en aumento, a medida que miembros clásicos de la banda salían y otros entraban, luego, parones, años algo más regulares, más cambios en la formación, más parones más largos y un sonido mucho más power genérico sin demasiada identidad. En este 2026 "resucitan" de nuevo a través de este single "Resurrection" del que dejo un enlace a youtube, veremos hasta donde les llega este nuevo "arreón".

Masterplan - Chase The Light

CHASE  THE  LIGHT 

El nombre de Masterplan es uno de esos grandes nombres que todo metalhead al menos ha escuchado alguna vez y no pocos dan por hecho el respeto e importancia de la banda, sin embargo, este proyecto inicialmente de gente que militaba en Helloween que luego por circunstancias se transforma en banda a tiempo completo, lleva ya camino de tres décadas en activo (2001) y si miramos la extensión de su discografía (Siete LP's de estudio si incluimos el septimo "Metalmorphosis" aún por llegar allá para junio) se antoja un tanto escasa, aunque compensada con la innegable calidad. Con las idas y venidas de miembros, sobre todo en el puesto de batería, el grupo se ha labrado una gran reputación, y en esta nueva entrega prometen un cierto cambio sonoro, no tanto en profundidad como en una actitud compositiva más agresiva. MIDNIGHT  BLITZ 

Como no podía ser de otra manera, en estos tiempos que corren con esa mirada casi nostálgica que muchas bandas jóvenes llevan ya una década haciendo al sonido heavy metal de la old school, la escena británica también cuenta con grupos nuevos que quieren aceptar ese peso histórico del heavy metal británico sobre sus espaldas. Eternal Winter - Initiation

 

INITIATION 

Son varias las bandas que han intentado una carrera bajo el nombre de Eternal Winter, una de ellas esta banda estodounidense que hoy traigo al blog. Formados en 2002, el grupo ha permanecido en un segundo plano durante toda su carrera que además no se ha prodigado mucho en lo que a publicación de obras se refiere. En sus primeros doce años de existencia solo tres EP's publicados, en los siguientes doce, tres LP's, incluyendo este tercero del que hoy dejo una de sus canciones en el blog, "Cosmic Blood, Cosmic Grail", publicado el dos de febrero y del que dejo en el blog su canción "Initiation" que como su nombre indica da comienzo a la obra, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
