GLEAM  IN  THE  BLACK 

Ya va camino la banda finlandesa Insomnium de las tres décadas de actividad desde su formación en 1997, toda una carrera para el grupo que en este 2026 publicará su décimo LP de estudio "Netherworlds" cuya salida oficial será el 16 de octubre. Como siempre su death melódico absolutamente cuidado y marca de la casa es el protagonista de sus nuevos adelantos, el último de ellos "Gleam in the black" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Rattlesnakes es otra banda nueva, formada en 2024, británica, que pretende rememorar ese espíritu clásico no solo del heavy metal de la vieja escuela, sino ciertos rasgos speedicos y del thrash, con una vocalista que esgrime perfectamente la furia del heavy metal. Vamos hoy a dejar otra pincelada de lo que será en teoría la última obra de estudio de la banda, tras su anuncio de cesar en ese apartado tras la publicación de esta obra. En lo referente al trabajo creo que es más lo bueno que lo malo, demuestran estar en buena forma a pesar de que Mustaine muestre más carencias en lo vocal, también se nota una producción más limpia, muchos lo han criticado, desde luego Megadeth sin polémica añadida no sería Megadeth, realmente me parece y ha parecido siempre injusto. NIGHT  IS  CALLING 

Dominum ha publicado en este 2026 su tercer LP de estudio "Night is calling", una banda que a pesar de no llevar demasiado tiempo de actividad (desde 2022), y con solo tres discos da esa sensación de importancia, como de ir a llegar bien alto, y en ello están, sin embargo, quizá en este nuevo disco más evidente hasta ahora, la diversidad sonora que esgrimen dentro de la propia obra puede mermar, al menos para oyentes como yo, la efectividad de la propuesta, siendo para mi caso concreto, más un disco de temas sueltos que en su conjunto. Otra de las canciones de la nueva obra es la que da título a la misma, "night is calling", con la colaboración de Battle Beast, un tema del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Otra banda que inicia en este 2026 su andadura compositiva, es la banda alemana Skyrider que deja su debut "Traveller Of Starlit Skyes" en este año, de forma oficial a la venta a partir del 1 de agosto, en un marco sonoro de heavy metal de corte clásico y según la banda con unas un fondo doom. Evermore - Nightstar Odyssey

NIGHTSTAR  ODYSSEY 

Otra buena banda, de las que se han quedado un poco en un segundo plano pero que llevan una ascendente trayectoria siempre, desde el inicio basada en la calidad, pero sin duda, su carrera aún joven (formados en 2016), de seguir en esta línea debería dar al grupo todas las merecidas oportunidades y el reconocimiento que merecen. "Mournbraid" es el tercer capitulo del grupo, publicado hace unos meses (marzo), y demuestra esa línea ascendente, con cada vez una mejor producción y una excelente capacidad compositiva. Otra demostración por ejemplo es la canción "Nightstar Odyssey" un tema muy en la onda de Edguy, y de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Hasta el último día del mes de julio no saldrá de forma oficial el nuevo disco de estudio de los finlandeses Dreamtale, "Aetherbound". Es evidente a estas alturas de la película que los alemanes Accept son uno de los grandes por méritos propios, por su carácter pionero, por continuidad, por calidad y claro, por propuesta compositiva, y también por sobreponerse a sus peores momentos, de forma actualmente brillante, por todo ello son una de esas pocas bandas que pueden con orgullo celebras medio siglo en activo y se han ganado por derecho entre otras cosas esta humilde reseña de un tema antiguo, ya traído al blog en su momento, pero ahora reforzado con la participación de otro gigante, Rob Halford, se trata de su clásico "Balls to the wall" del que dejo un enlace a youtube de esta versión celebradora de su trayectoria.

Sin ninguna duda en pleno momento de consolidación, la banda alemana Lucid Dreaming, banda unida a un nombre, el guitarrista Till Oberbobel que se encarga de todo en el grupo, una banda acostumbrada a las colaboraciones para complementar su propuesta compositiva. Formado en 2012 el grupo ha publicado tres LP's de estudio en 2013, 2017 y 2020 respectivamente y en este 2026 ha visto la luz su cuarto LP, "Upon the barricades" cuya salida oficial ocurrió este recién pasado 10 de julio. Nuevo material de estudio de los suecos Amon Amarth a través de un single que se supone preludio de un nuevo LP. La particularidad de este nuevo tema reside en que se trata de una canción acústica, la primera publicada por la banda en su carrera lo que servirá sin duda alguna a los detractores del grupo como argumento por el cambio estilístico de la banda desde hace ya muchas obras alejandose de extremos y acercando su sonido a muchos más fans, algo que habrán sin duda notado en sus cuentas corrientes. Que gran banda finlandesa Brymir, un grupo que ha sabido desde sus inicios encontrar en cada momento su senda que comenzase en 2006, por entonces como banda tributo a Ensiferum, sacando un debut en 2011 muy en esa línea aunque ya con su sello propio, para después ir progresivamente encontrando su propio sendero que actualmente tienen muy claro, muy cogido por la mano y absolutamente irreprochable desde mi gusto personal. Sin duda otro de los nombres aceptados y reconocidos globalmente es la banda americana Kamelot, uno de los veteranos en lo suyo, influyentes y con un legado ya de catorce discos de estudio si contamos el décimo cuarto "Dark Asylum" que verá la luz de forma oficial el 28 de agosto de este 2026. Los italianos Frozen Crown presentan en este 2026 su sexto LP de estudio, "The legend of the six kings" que verá la luz de forma oficial para primeros de octubre. El grupo parece contento con su reformación, aportando los nuevos miembros ese equilibrio y capacidad para alcanzar todos los niveles técnicos que la propuesta compositiva de la banda necesita, es como una vuelta a sus origenes pero con mejores armas para desarrollarlo, así pues su sonido parece orientarse más a un heavy power de la vieja escuela, sin renunciar a la vertiente sinfónica ni a momento más crudos y speedicos. Vanden Plas - Far Off Grace

 

FAR  OFF  GRACE 

Otra banda de esas de toda la vida, pero de las que se han quedado tradicionalmente en un segundo plano a pesar del consenso entre los consumidores de su sonido de que la calidad nunca ha sido el problema. Estos alemanes, Vanden Plas,  se forman a mitad de la década de los ochenta y a pesar de haber mantenido una actividad continuada en el tiempo, desde 1994 en que publican su debut 12 LP's de estudio podrían antojarse una discografía algo corta, pero es que otra de las cosas que les caracteriza es su irregularidad al publicar discos, con periodos de intensa actividad, (tres discos en tres años por ejemplo), y otros de desaparición (cuatro años sin novedades en lo que a LP's se refiere). Su sonido siempre ha bordeado el sonido progresivo, y en este 2026 publican su duodécimo LP titulado "AcCult II", oficialmente este pasado 12 de junio, que es una visita a su propio sonido pero desde una perspectiva acústica. Hoy dejo en el blog su single "Far Off Grace", originalmente publicado en 1999 para su disco "Far from Grace" y del que hoy dejo en el blog esta versión de 2026.

Preludio Ancestral - Twilight Of The Hero

TWILIGHT  OF  THE  HERO 

Preludio Ancestral es una banda unida sobre todo a un nombre, el guitarrista, teclista y compositor argentino Leonardo L. Gatti, que se encarga de todo aunque con colaboraciones de su escena natal y también internacionales. Con una clara evolución este proyecto banda se crea en 2005, y a fecha de esta reseña cuenta con seis LP's de estudio si contamos "Guardians of Twilight" de este 2026, de marzo. Muchos matices, diferentes colaboraciones le dan al grupo diferentes texturas sonoras pero siempre y con cada obra más, en un marco sonoro de power melódico, bien producido y con tintes sinfónicos a veces, para amantes del sonido Rhapsody o incluso Stratovarius. De esta nueva obra dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Twilight of the hero", con ese inicio vocal casi a lo Kamelot, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Nuevo single para los finlandeses Insomnium, otra de esas bandas que han llevado como estandarte la calidad por encima de la cantidad, y han sido reconocidos por ello desde muy al inicio de su carrera. URGEWALT 

Los alemanes Asenblut están de vuelta en este 2026 para publicar a mediados de septiembre "Urgewalt" que será su sexto LP de estudio desde su formación en 2007. Como siempre su oscuro sonido a medio camino de muchas cosas y sin llegar a ser solo una de ellas, es ya sello sonoro de la banda. Eternal Winter - Song Of The Sworn Blade

SONG  OF  THE  SWORN  BLADE 

Sentimientos encontrados en la nueva obra de los estadounidenses Eternal Winter, por una parte la base heavy, la temática de fantasía y espada, todo ello es un marco atractivo para el que guste de semejante mezcla. es un prototipo a priori de lo que debería ser. Por otro lado, algunos rasgos como la parte instrumental sigue ahondando en la sensación de haber acertado, luego llega la parte vocal, que no diré que sea mala, es para mi gusto más bien forzada, como demasiado exagerada, pero la composición, un poco a medio tiempo, ofrece mucho para compensar el exceso vocal, aunque en ocasiones se pierda ligeramente en una cierta autocomplacencia. Sin duda un disco de canciones, hay que tener muchas ganas y fe para escucharte la obra de un tirón.
