Brymir - What We Leave Behind

WHAT  WE  LEAVE  BEHIND 

Que gran banda finlandesa Brymir, un grupo que ha sabido desde sus inicios encontrar en cada momento su senda que comenzase en 2006, por entonces como banda tributo a Ensiferum, sacando un debut en 2011 muy en esa línea aunque ya con su sello propio, para después ir progresivamente encontrando su propio sendero que actualmente tienen muy claro, muy cogido por la mano y absolutamente irreprochable desde mi gusto personal. En este 2026 el grupo publicará ya su quinto LP de estudio "What we leave behind" (de forma oficial para el 2 de octubre) y de él nos dejan el primer adelanto que es la canción que dará nombre a la obra y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

ASHEN  WORLD 

Sin duda otro de los nombres aceptados y reconocidos globalmente es la banda americana Kamelot, uno de los veteranos en lo suyo, influyentes y con un legado ya de catorce discos de estudio si contamos el décimo cuarto "Dark Asylum" que verá la luz de forma oficial el 28 de agosto de este 2026. Siempre buscando colaboraciones, en el caso de su primer adelanto "Ashen World" lo hacen con la vocalista y modelo chilena Ignacia Fernandez que complementa las voces en el tema, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Los italianos Frozen Crown presentan en este 2026 su sexto LP de estudio, "The legend of the six kings" que verá la luz de forma oficial para primeros de octubre. El grupo parece contento con su reformación, aportando los nuevos miembros ese equilibrio y capacidad para alcanzar todos los niveles técnicos que la propuesta compositiva de la banda necesita, es como una vuelta a sus origenes pero con mejores armas para desarrollarlo, así pues su sonido parece orientarse más a un heavy power de la vieja escuela, sin renunciar a la vertiente sinfónica ni a momento más crudos y speedicos. Vanden Plas - Far Off Grace

 

FAR  OFF  GRACE 

Otra banda de esas de toda la vida, pero de las que se han quedado tradicionalmente en un segundo plano a pesar del consenso entre los consumidores de su sonido de que la calidad nunca ha sido el problema. Estos alemanes, Vanden Plas,  se forman a mitad de la década de los ochenta y a pesar de haber mantenido una actividad continuada en el tiempo, desde 1994 en que publican su debut 12 LP's de estudio podrían antojarse una discografía algo corta, pero es que otra de las cosas que les caracteriza es su irregularidad al publicar discos, con periodos de intensa actividad, (tres discos en tres años por ejemplo), y otros de desaparición (cuatro años sin novedades en lo que a LP's se refiere). Su sonido siempre ha bordeado el sonido progresivo, y en este 2026 publican su duodécimo LP titulado "AcCult II", oficialmente este pasado 12 de junio, que es una visita a su propio sonido pero desde una perspectiva acústica. Hoy dejo en el blog su single "Far Off Grace", originalmente publicado en 1999 para su disco "Far from Grace" y del que hoy dejo en el blog esta versión de 2026.

Preludio Ancestral - Twilight Of The Hero

TWILIGHT  OF  THE  HERO 

Preludio Ancestral es una banda unida sobre todo a un nombre, el guitarrista, teclista y compositor argentino Leonardo L. Gatti, que se encarga de todo aunque con colaboraciones de su escena natal y también internacionales. Con una clara evolución este proyecto banda se crea en 2005, y a fecha de esta reseña cuenta con seis LP's de estudio si contamos "Guardians of Twilight" de este 2026, de marzo. Muchos matices, diferentes colaboraciones le dan al grupo diferentes texturas sonoras pero siempre y con cada obra más, en un marco sonoro de power melódico, bien producido y con tintes sinfónicos a veces, para amantes del sonido Rhapsody o incluso Stratovarius. Eternal Winter - Song Of The Sworn Blade

SONG  OF  THE  SWORN  BLADE 

Sentimientos encontrados en la nueva obra de los estadounidenses Eternal Winter, por una parte la base heavy, la temática de fantasía y espada, todo ello es un marco atractivo para el que guste de semejante mezcla. es un prototipo a priori de lo que debería ser. Por otro lado, algunos rasgos como la parte instrumental sigue ahondando en la sensación de haber acertado, luego llega la parte vocal, que no diré que sea mala, es para mi gusto más bien forzada, como demasiado exagerada, pero la composición, un poco a medio tiempo, ofrece mucho para compensar el exceso vocal, aunque en ocasiones se pierda ligeramente en una cierta autocomplacencia. Sin duda un disco de canciones, hay que tener muchas ganas y fe para escucharte la obra de un tirón. El último día del mes de julio saldrá a la venta el nuevo trabajo de los británicos Sellsword, el que será su tercer LP de estudio y que llevará por título "...With might and vengenance". Leatherwitch - Heores And The Dice

HEROES  AND  THE  DICE 

 El recién pasado 29 de mayo ha visto la luz de forma oficial el primer disco de la banda polaca Leatherwitch, que es lo mismo que decir Marta Gabriel que liderase la banda Crystal Viper, así, poniendo fin a esta última banda, el nuevo proyecto, por otra parte con una concepción bastante clónica de los citados Crystal Viper, ahora con Marta encargándose de todo, instrumentos y composición, comienza su andadura en este 2026 desde el punto de vista compositivo. Heavy Metal pues, de corte clásico, supuestamente más speedico que el practicado con su anterior banda, y con un cierto aire true. Elvenking - The Past Is Forever

THE  PAST  IS  FOREVER 

No se si habrá intencionalidad en el título de esta canción, o simplemente es un sensación mía, pero en la misma detecto más rasgos primigenios del sonido de los italianos Elvenking, más de lo que hacía mucho tiempo que venía escuchando, y es que nunca he disimulado que el mejor material de la banda en mi opinión es el inicial, más que ninguno el mostrado en su debut. Al final esta no es sino otra de esas viejas historias de la música, la evolución frente a la fidelidad a las raices, creo, cada vez más, que el equilibrio además de dificil es lo aconsejable, pero nunca deberían los grupos rechazar los inicios. El caso es que Elvenking, en este 2026 nos deja un EP nuevo, con temas nuevos como este "The past is forever" y versiones de otras bandas. Del citado tema dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

La banda power alemana Stormhammer es sin duda una de esas bandas de las que no tienes la percepción de lo más que respetable de su discografía, siempre parece quedar en tu retina que tienen por ahí varios discos, que suenan genéricos, con sus buenos momentos, pero es que ya llevan nueve LP's de estudios publicados entre 2000 y 2026, es toda una carrera aguantando como tantos otros grupos en una segunda línea, pero esa resistencia un tanto oculta, cuando se prolonga hace ganar enteros a la banda que lo logra. En este 2026 se publica este noveno disco del grupo "Wrath of the hammer", para el 17 de julio, y de él nos dejan ya su adelanto "Wrath of the hammer" que dará nombre a la obra y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

JERUSALEM 

10 son los LP's de estudio de la banda sueca Narnia, el decimo, con el evidente título "X", verá la luz el 29 de mayo, es decir en esta semana que casi empezamos, y con el que la banda celebra sus tres décadas en activo, un viaje sonoro en el que el sello de la banda debe considerarse su calidad, el cuidado en sus composiciones que al prolongarse en el tiempo han agrandado la valía de una banda que lleva mucho tiempo haciendo las cosas bien. El segundo adelanto de la nueva obra lleva por título "Jerusalem", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Siempre he defendido, desde que empecé a escuchar este precioso veneno llamado heavy metal, que de los cuatro llamados grandes del thrash, Anthrax fue, es y espero que siga siendo el que más me ha llenado, el más original, el más fresco, el más valiente, el más fiel a su esencia... el mejor de los cuatro. Estamos hablando de ese tipo de bandas que levantan pasiones a favor y en contra, a mi me siguen encantando. En este 2026 dan finalmente noticias de actividad compositiva a través de su album "Cursum Perficio" cuya salida oficial se espera para mediados de septiembre, y de momento nos dejan su magnifico adelanto "It's for the kids" del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.
