Fairyland - To Stars And Beyond - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

TO  STARS  AND  BEYOND

Nos adentramos hoy en los terrenos sinfónicos y abigarrados de ese tipo de bandas como Fairyland, nacidos en ese punto en que la alargada sombra de Rhapsody y su legado se extendía sobre todo por Europa creando escuela, y mostrando un camino con promesa de éxito para muchas nuevas bandas de casi cualquier nacionalidad. Fairyland se forman en Francia a comienzos de los 2000 (2003 bajo Fairyland) aunque ya venían cambiando de nombre varios años antes (1997) con varios intentos hasta recalar en el citado y definitivo de Fairyland. Inspiración en la fantasía para generar su sonido, con mucho adorno, y mucho  tópico del subgénero, mostrando desde el inicio un enorme potencial que les hacia poseedores de un hipotético futuro mando entre las huestes del sonido sinfónico, sin embargo, por uno u otro motivo ese liderazgo no se dio nunca, en parte también por la falta de constancia a la hora de publicar material. Así solamente son cinco los LP's de su discografía, si incluimos este "The Story Remains" que verá la luz en junio de este 2025 y del que dejo hoy en el blog su adelanto "To stars and beyond", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

A  NEW  DAWN

Estamos ante la resurrección, aún está por ver si definitiva, de una banda clásica, de esas que ha tenido dificultades para hacerse su hueco en la escena internacional lo que no implica en absoluto que ni tuviese suficientes argumentos para haberlo hecho de una forma más eficaz o global, el caso es que los franceses Fairyland vuelven a componer temas tras su regreso en 2020 después de más de una década de silencio, es parece su sello de identidad, una carrera a tirones, demasiado lastre para llegar alto en una sociedad tan saturada de estímulos y tan necesitada de ellos ya como para hacer tan largas ausencias. En este 2024 han editado dos singles, uno de ellos este "A new dawn" del que dejo un enlace a youtube, veremos si es realmente un nuevo amanecer.

Canciones para una vida - Fairyland - Rebirth

 

REBIRTH

Las bandas, los estilos emergentes, son todos hijos de las épocas en las que nacieron, en muchos sentidos consecuencias de las fórmulas que iban funcionando y a finales de los 90 y comienzos de los 2000 la cantidad de bandas que nacían al calor del power sinfónico y de vocación épica, pero comstruida a base de arreglos y ornamentaciones era enorme. Siempre hay un espejo prototípico de esos años en el que se miraban muchos, los inevitables Rhapsody, y justa o injustamente dicha comparación mezclaba calidad y cantidad, haciendo a muchos saturarse ante semejante avalancha de bandas repitiendo esa fórmula. Fairyland, fue una banda francesa que se decantó por ese sendero, y siempre fue uno de esos grupos quizá muy penalizados por esa comparación seguramente sin merecer tanto castigo. La banda se forma en 1997 y tras tres cambios de nombre en 2003 adoptan definitivamente el nombre "Fairyland" con el que siguen en activo desde entonces. Tan solo 4 LP's reafirman si se quiere esa penalización en forma de una irregular carrera no exenta por otra parte de momentos brillantes, pero diluidos en la abarrotada escena a la que enfocaron. Su primera obra de estudio fue "Of wars in Osyrhia", de 2003, y de ella hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de los temas que la componen, "Rebirth" que creo es buen ejemplo de sus virtudes y de sus errores, según el enfoque, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Fairyland - In Duna

 

IN  DUNA

Surquemos hoy los terrenos del power metal sinfónico, de ese lleno de arreglos y adornos, ese power tan criticado por algunos y tan ensalzado por otros, encarnado hoy en los franceses "Fairyland", quienes han relanzado su carrera este año editando su cuarto LP de estudio, "Osyrhianta", del que ya he dejado alguna pincelada en el blog. Hoy, sin embargo, quiero echar un poco la vista más atrás en su carrera, una carrera no adornada con demasiado material de estudio, a pesar de lo extenso de su carrera como banda, una trayectoia en la que su buen hacer compositivo, (si lo tuyo es este subgénero), ha visto como lo dilatado del tiempo entre obra y obra ha hecho que la continuidad necesaria para que la banda llegase a cotas más altas no fuera la necesaria, ymucha gente, directamente se haya olvidado de su existencia. Hoy, quiero recuperar una de las canciones de su segundo Lp de estudio, "The fall of an empire", de 2006, con el apoyo discográfico de Napalm Records, obra que mostró para muchos una madurez del grupo respecto a su debut, y que sin duda guastará a los amantes del subgénero, como muestra dejo en el blog la canción "In Duna", con todos los ingredientes propios de la banda, incluyendo el toque vocal femenino invitado, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Fairyland - Alone We Stand

ALONE  WE  STAND

Más de una década después los franceses "Fairyland" nos dejan su cuarto LP de estudio, realmente una discografía un tanto escasa si atendemos a la larga ya historia de la banda que data, (bajo el nombre de "Fairyland"), ya de 2003, aunque, como digo, el largo silencio de 11 años desde la anterior obra es una dilatada espera que podría haber sido rellenado con tres o cuatro obras más en condiciones normales. Sea como sea, su power sinfónico está de vuelta para alegría los amantes del subgénero. Es bien sabido para todo aquel que haya seguido la obra de los franceses, que su gusto por el arreglo de sus composiciones, en ocasiones excesivo, es uno de sus sellos de identidad, y este "Osyrhianta" del presente 2020 no es una excepción. Igualmente siempre con un fondo power de corte europeo son capaces de agradar a los amantes del subgénero con unas composiciones más que con otras. Este, para mi, es uno de esos ejemplos de bandas más de un tema concreto que de una obra en total, pero claro, esto es cuestión de gustos. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones que más me ha agradado de esta cuarta obra de la banda, en concreto la canción "Alone we stand" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
