ARMED  AND  DANGEROUS

 Otra vez de repaso, otra vez de repesca en la década por antonomasia en nuestro sonido (los 80), y de nuevo uno de los grandes en lo suyo, los estadounidenses Anthrax en la época inicial de su ya larga carrera, a la altura en esta ocasión de su segundo LP, allá por 1985, cuando aún en subgénero del thrash estaba en pañales y en plena explosión. Siempre he defendido a Anthrax, el considerado como menos fuerte de los cuatro más fuertes en el Thrash, y cuando nos remontamos a los inicios vemos que este grupo ha sido desde siempre un grupazo. Otro tema de los importantes del grupo para hoy, "Armed and dangerous", no te dejes engañar por el inicio si es que aún no lo has escuchado hasta hoy, porque en cuanto pisan el acelerador te pondrán los pelos de punta, un temazo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Anthrax - Monster At The End

MONSTER  AT  THE  END

 Siempre he defendido las virtudes musicales de esta gran banda, y a pesar de ir en contra de la mayoría son mis favoritos de entre los cuatro denominados como "grandes" del thrash, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer y claro Anthrax. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de los temas de su duodécimo álbum de estudio, el último editado por el grupo hasta la fecha de esta reseña, con una gran parte de la formación clásica de la banda presentes en la grabación de esta nueva obra, igual que sucediera en su buen "Worship Music" de 2011, lo que a mi concretamente me parece fantástico, pues desde luego me quedo con aquella formación que hiciera crecer tanto al grupo a comienzos y mediados de los 80, y además soy de los que se quedan con Joey Belladonna en funciones vocales. Hoy quiero  dejar el tema "Monster at the end", uno de los singles de la obra, (el último de momento), muy en una linea que trae ese regusto clásico de los Anthrax ochenteros con ese otro toque más nuevo en una mezcla muy equilibrada, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a Youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Anthrax - Madhouse

MADHOUSE

Segundo larga duración de uno de los grupos más importantes del thrash internacional, Anthrax, estamos pues al comienzo de la carrera de estos estadounidenses que llevan ya más de 15 millones de discos vendidos a nivel mundial, y un total de 12 LP's y 9 EP's dan forma a una carrera llena de éxitos. De los miembros originales del grupo tan solo Scott Ian ha permanecido en ella ininterrumpidamente, habiendo tenido la banda una cierta inestabilidad en casi todos los puestos, incluido el de vocalista que ha contado con Neil Turbin, Joey Belladonna y John Bush, en dicho puesto. A mi personalmente el que más me ha gustado siempre ha sido Joey Belladona, que ha estado en el grupo dos épocas, entre 1984 y 1992, y desde 2005 en adelante. De esa primera época extraemos esta obra de la que hoy quiero hablar en el blog, como decía más arriba su segundo LP, "Spreading the disease", de 1985, en pleno despertar del Thrash, una piedra importante en la construcción de este género con una mucho más que interesante colección de canciones, de entre las que hoy quiero destacar el necesario y reconocido "Madhouse", uno de sus temas fundamentales y del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Anthrax - Breathing Lightning

BREATHING  LIGHTNING

Duodécimo disco de estudio de estos estadounidenses, uno de los inconos del thrash internacional, y como todos sabemos uno de los considerados como los cuatro grandes del thrash, junto a Megadeth, Slayer y Metallica. Con una gran parte de la formación clásica de la banda presentes en la grabación de esta nueva obra, igual que sucediera en su buen "Worship Music" de 2011, lo que a mi concretamente me parece fantástico, pues desde luego me quedo con aquella formación que hiciera crecer tanto al grupo a comienzos y mediados de los 80, y además soy de los que se quedan con Joey Belladonna en funciones vocales. En realidad la salida del álbum se espera para el 26 de febrero, aunque ya han adelantado algún tema oficial como muestra de la nueva obra, como por ejemplo este "Breathing Lightning" del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a youtube, un tema pegadizo, con la esencia general de la banda con buenas melodías, una vez más se ve que hablamos de una banda que se conoce perfectamente y pueden tener cuerda aún para rato. ANTISOCIAL

Ya hemos hablado de estos estadounidenses en nuestro blog, y como ya dijimos, se trata de uno de los grandes del Thrash y uno de los grupos más influyentes dentro del género a nivel internacional, catalogado como uno de los 4 grandes del thrash junto con Metallica, Slayer y Megadeth. De esa primera época extraemos esta obra de la que hoy quiero hablar en el blog, el "State of euphoria", de 1988, su cuarta obra de estudio, y que supuso un paso adelante para la banda, donde por ejemplo su single "Antisocial", una versión de la banda francesa "Trust", llego a ser un hit en la MTV. Además el la gira de presentación de este disco giraron internacionalmente con bandas de la categoría de Exodus y Helloween. De este disco a mi personalmente me gustan todas las canciones, siendo posiblemente mi favorito de la banda, y de él quiero dejar hoy en el blog otra de sus canciones, en concreto "Antisocial", versión del tema de un grupo de hard rock francés, como decía más arriba, de comienzos de los 80, llamado "Trust", un grupo que cuenta por ejemplo con el mérito de ser la banda de la que salió Nicko Mcbrain, batería, antes de que pasase a formar parte de Iron Maiden. Un tema este "Antisocial" que ha llegado a ser uno de sus temas más aclamados en directo. Bueno, dejo un enlace a youtube hoy de este tema, "Antisocial".

ROOM FOR ONE MORE

Anthrax es  uno de los grandes del Thrash y uno de los grupos más influyentes dentro del género a nivel internacional, catalogado como uno de los 4 grandes del thrash junto con Metallica, Slayer y Megadeth. Anthrax se forma en 1981 en Nueva York, por el guitarrista Scott Ian y el  bajista Dan Lilker.La banda ha editado 10 albumes de estudio desde su formación, así como 9 EP's, habiendo vendido más de 15 millones de discos a nivel mundial. De los miembros originales del grupo tan solo Scott Ian ha permanecido en ella ininterrumpidamente, habiendo tenido la banda una cierta inestabilidad en casi todos los puestos, incluido el de vocalista que ha contado con Neil Turbin, Joey Belladonna y John Bush, en dicho puesto. A mi personalmente el que más me ha gustado siempre ha sido Joey Belladona, que ha estado en el grupo dos épocas, entre 1984 y 1992, y desde 2005 en adelante. Sin embargo, la época de John Bush fue también algo a tener en cuenta, cantante que se hizo un nombre en la banda Armored Saint con quienes ha cantado en 7 discos de estudio a lo largo de dos épocas diferentes, desde 1983 hasta 1991 y desde 2000 en adelante, y que completa su currículum como vocalista en Anthrax en dos épocas también, entre 1993 y 2004, y luego entre 2009 y 2010. Hablando de este disco de Anthrax estamos haciéndolo pues de la primera obra de los americanos con Bush a la voz. En esta obra la banda sufre una evolución en su sonido, con un influjo un poco más "Grunge" si se quiere. Contiene grandes canciones como la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog, "Room for one more", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Hoy quiero hablar de esta segunda época del cantante Joey Belladona en el grupo al referirme al único larga duración que han editado en ella, "Worship Music", de 2011, un disco muy bueno, el primero en 7 años, y el último LP de la banda hasta la fecha de esta reseña, aunque si que han editado otro EP, en 2013, "Anthems", en el que hacen 8 versiones de canciones de grupos clásicos de culto del hard rock como Rush, Thin Lyzzy, AC/DC, Boston, Chip Trick o Journey. Volviendo al "Worship Music" quiero dejar hoy una canción en el blog, "In The End", uno de los temas que primero se te quedan en la cabeza de este disco, del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Anthrax - Got The Time

GOT THE TIME

Uno de los grandes del Thrash, los estadounidenses Anthrax, uno de los grupos más influyentes dentro del género y uno de mis favoritos. Formados en 1981 y con once discos de estudio en su curriculum,en 1990 sacaron este disco, persistence of time, su quinta obra como digno sucesor del state of euphoria del 88, el disco que más me gusta de la banda, aunque la última obra, worship music de 2011 es autenticamente espectacular, lo que nos dice que este grupo está completamente en forma y que volvera a nuestro blog más adelante. He querido escoger para comenzar con Anthrax el tema got the time, versión de Joe Jackson, un corte de esos que te pone las pilas con su trepidante ritmo desde ese comienzo con el bajo. Gran disco el persistence of time de una de las épocas doradas dentro del thrash metal. Dejo un enlace a youtube.
