Nothgard - Blindfolded

 

BLINDFOLDED 

Desde 2018 la banda alemana Nothgard no saca material en formato LP, y desde 2023 en que editaron su EP "Symphonia Deorum" no han publicado más que un par de singles, uno de ellos en 2026 y en febrero de este 2026 "Blindfolded" del que quiero dejar hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Nothgard - When Gods Cry

WHEN  GODS  CRY 

Los alemanes Nothgard practican un death melódico, más tecnico que folk pero no carente de vocación épica. Con una carrera ya camino de las dos décadas (desde 2009) sin embargo no se han prodigado mucho en lo que a publicar material se refiere, cuatro LP's más un EP en todos estos años, aunque van dando señales de vida compositiva recientemente a través de singles nuevos. Hoy quiero recuperar su segundo LP "The sinner's sake", de 2016, concretamente su canción "When gods cry" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Nothgard - Spirit

SPIRIT

Nothgard es un grupo alemán que se auto etiqueta como "Epic Melodic death metal", y que cuenta con la particularidad de integrar en su formación a tres guitarristas. Como también ellos mismos dicen combinan sus influencias folk, classic, melodic-death y hard rock. Fundados en 2008 por el cantante y guitarrista principal Dom R. Crey, y el batería Toni, tras encontrar bajista, guitarrista rítmico y teclista deciden ponerse el nombre de "Nordavind" con el que funcionarían hasta 2009 en el que, tras ciertos problemas con algunos miembros de la banda cambian por su definitivo "Nothgard". Comienzan a editar demos y a funcionar en pequeños "Shows" acrecentando la espectación por escuchar un primer LP de la banda, algo que se produce en 2011, con su "Warhorns of Midgard". En el mismo mes de lanzamiento reciben muy buenas críticas y se lanzan a una gira europea junto con Skyforger, Heljareyga, Gernotshagen, Kromlek y Northland. 2012 es el año en el que la banda recluta a su tercer guitarrista de forma permanente en la banda lo que les da ese plus potente, tan evidente en los directos. En 2014 editan su segundo y hasta la fecha de esta reseña último trabajo de estudio, "Age of Pandora", con cambio de logo incluido, un cambio que no solo se aprecia en su imagen sino también compositivamente hablando, ya que es un trabajo más afinado, más maduro, y hablaremos en alguna ocasión de él en el blog. Volviendo a su debut hoy quiero dejar una canción en el blog de ese disco, "Warhorns of Midgard", de 2011 como decía más arriba, un disco que demuestra una variación de sonido, en el que se notan todas las influencias de los músicos de Nothgard, así podríamos aventurarnos a comparar su sonido con una mezcla entre Kiuas de los inicios, Suidakra y Kalmah, por ahí pueden ir los tiros aunque es difícil acotarlo por su personal propuesta que toca estilos como pagan, melodic death/black, e incluso Power metal sin olvidarnos de las partes folk que salpican toda la obra. Un disco del que pueden escogerse muchos temas, y del que hoy he querido dejar en el blog la canción "Spirit", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Banda muy recomendable.
