SPEARS  OF  THE  EMPIRE

Parece evidente que la banda estado unidense "Glacier" ha tomado en serio su regreso que efectuaron a nivel compositivo el pasado 2020 tras 35 años de silencio desde que editaran su único material de estudio hasta ese momento en forma de EP "Glacier", que con los años ha recibido mucho reconocimiento en el mundillo y siempre despertó muchas expectativas de una continuación que sin duda se ha hecho esperar demasiado. El primer LP "The passing of time" cumplio muy bien con dichas expectativas y ahora, en este 2022, editan un nuevo EP con dos temas, "Spears of the empire", que esperemos sea solo el preludio de un nuevo LP. Desde luego nunca es tarde para retomar las cosas buenas, y "Glacier" siempre dejaron clara su calidad. Dejo hoy un enlace a youtube del tema que da nombre a este nuevo EP.

Canciones para una vida - Glacier - Eldest And Truest

ELDEST  AND  TRUEST

 Un nuevo ejemplo de como muchas, muchisimas bandas de esas que abarrotaron la escena metalica de los ochenta, sobre todo tantas de la primera mitad de esa década, y que ni siquiera pudieron tener la ocasión de sacar la cabeza minimamente , no lo hicieron por falta de calidad, sino por otras muchas y seguramente diversas razones que no tenías nada que ver. Estamos ante el primer LP de los estadounidenses "Glacier" que ya he traido al blog, el primer LP que editan tras su homónimo EP "Glacier" de 1985. En 2016 deciden volver a juntarse bajo el mismo nombre de "Glacier" y este 2020, allá para octubre será el año escogido por la banda para sacar a la venta este "The passing of time", elocuente título mirando la historia de esta banda. Estamos ante un heavy metal con cierto aire power, que a través de su primer adelanto "Eldest and truest" nos deja un estupendo sabor de boca a la espera de escuchar todo el material en solo unos meses. SPEAK  NO  EVIL

Otro vistazo atrás en el tiempo, para recuperar otro de los temas de los estadounidenses "Glacier", una banda que encarna esa situación tan repetida en la década de los 80 en la que tantas bandas llenas de ilusión y calidad apenas si tuvieron ocasión de demostrarlo, supongo que por los más diversos motivos, y dejaron solo una perla, como un pequeño destello del brillo que atesoraban. El caso que nos ocupa es un ejemplo perfecto de lo que digo, "Glacier" se forma en 1979 y están activos hasta finales de los 80, editando tan solo un EP, "Glacier" en 1985 con cinco grandes temas para no editar nada más en adelante. Es cierto que la banda ha dado muestras de actividad en 2015, reeditando en forma de single alguna de sus canciones, y cambiando de nombre "Devil in disguise" entre 2016 y 2018, sin editar nada y volviendo a "Glacier" supuestamente en este 2019, como preparando una reentrada en la escena a nivel compositivo, pero de momento, a fecha de esta reseña, no tengo noticias de que haya sido así. Dejo pues otra de sus canciones de su EP "Glacier" del 85. en concreto la que cierra la obra, "Speak no evil" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Heavy metal de la old school.

VENDETTA

Otro poquito de heavy metal clásico, otro poco de metal de la vieja guardia y desde luego otro poco de metal de primerísimo nivel en otra de esas bandas de comienzos de los 80 que duraron por desgracia menos de un suspiro a pesar de que su material publicado hubiese augurado una larga carrera llena de potencial, pero una vez más se demuestra que calidad y ventas no suelen en muchas ocasiones ir de la mano, por eso la dorada década de los 80 se encuentra plagada de cadáveres musicales que apenas nadie se ha parado a descubrir. De nuevo quiero resucitar en el blog a una de esas bandas, en este caso estadounidense, llena de calidad llamada "Glacier", por desgracia propietaria de una cortisima producción musical que básicamente se reduce a un único EP de 1985, este homónimo al nombre de la banda "Glacier" del que hoy quiero dejar su tema posiblemente más icónico, y curiosamente reeditado en 2015 en forma de single, "Vendetta". Siendo sincero y justo los cinco temas que componen el EP me resultan muy buenos, de pura calidad que hace todavía más incomprensible que no alcanzasen mayor repercusión y longevidad, ya que "Glacier" se terminan separando en 1990 pero sin editar más material, en concreto dejaré en el blog, como digo su tema "Vendetta" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
