TOWER  OF  FEAR

¿Por qué toda una década de silencio de este grupo?. Los suecos "The Storyteller" son una de esas bandas veteranas, (comenzaron allá por 1995), y desde el comienzo de su carrera llamaron la atención de muchos con su propuesta power neoclásica de extraordinaria calidad. El inicio de su carrera fue muy constante desde la publicación de su primera obra, y así entre 2000 y 2005 publican cuatro LP's que hacían presagiar una carrera que les podría llevar a la cima, pero en 2006 el grupo lo deja para retomar su actividad en 2011. Desde ese momento solo han publicado otros tres LP's de estudio si incluimos este "The fina Stand" de 2025 que llega tras una década de silencio compositivo desde su anterior obra, y siempre es lo mismo, cada disco fiel a su propuesta, lleno de calidad, habla de un grupo que podría llegar casi donde quisiera pero parece quedarse en un injusto a mi parecer, segundo plano respecto a otras bandas para nada mejores. Hoy quiero rescatar de este último trabajo otra de las canciones que lo componen, en concreto "Tower of fear" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

The Storyteller es otra de esas bandas que han hecho durante mucho tiempo las cosas bien pero a la que la fama o el reconocimiento general no ha ido acorde a sus méritos, quizá su falta de continuidad sea una de las claves para ese resultado ya que desde luego por calidad no se les puede echar en cara nada a estos suecos. Ya llevaban desde 2015 sin publicar material de estudio, toda una década de silencio que ahora rompen con "The final stand", cuya salida oficial a la venta será el 25 de abril y del que han dejado ya un adelanto, "Fields of blood and steel", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

 BREAK  THE  BOUNDS

The Storyteller es ese tipo de bandas que deberían, teniendo en cuenta su caildad, haber tenido una carrera mucho más importante, mucho más llena, menos irregular, más constante porque todo lo que hace falta para hacer algo grande parece tenerlo el grupo con creces. Llevan ya una década de silencio desde su último LP de estudio, "Sacred Fire" de 2015, solo un single en 2023 rompió ese silencio, pero este 2025 será testigo de la publicación de su séptimo album "Final stand" que espero con ganas, hasta ese momento recupero hoy otra canción más de su penútimo album "Dark Legacy" de 2013, concretamente la canción "Break The bounds" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

A  PASSAGE  THROUGH  THE  MOUNTAIN

A pesar de que esta buena banda sueca siga en activo la realidad es que llevan ya demasiado tiempo, todo un lustro, sin dar señales de vida compositiva y, la verdad, es que se echa de menos material nuevo de su parte. Como es conocido su estilo power de corte europeo ha estado siendo creado desde mediados de la década de los 90 en adelante y han editado un total de 6 LP's de estudio mucho más que interesantes. Hoy quiero recuperar otro de sus discos en el blog, rescatando una de las canciones pertenecientes a su segundo LP de estudio, "Crossroad" de 2001, concretamente "A passage through the mountain" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

SONS OF THE NORTH

De nuevo acudo a la sexta obra de estudio de los suecos The Storyteller, de este 2015 en el blog. Ya he hablado anteriormente de esta banda  y como ya dije, The Storyteller es una banda de Suecia formada en 1995 que hace un power metal de corte clásico que podría compararse instrumentalmente al sonido de bandas como sus compatriotas Hammerfall. Se trata de un grupo de gran talento pero de no demasiada repercusión. Comienzan a sacar discos de estudio en el año 2000, habiendo realizado desde entonces 6 larga duración y un EP. Hay que decir que han tenido bastante estabilidad en la formación en lo referente a sus miembros pero aún así tuvieron una época de pausa entre 2006 y 2011 para a partir de ese año sacar material nuevo, en concreto dos discos, "Dark Legacy" en 2013, del que ya he hablado, y este "Sacred Fire", que hoy nos ocupa de nuevo, un disco que es un retorno aún más a las raíces de la banda, y eso es sinónimo de calidad siempre, con una mezcla perfecta entre la vieja escuela powermetalera sueca que unos años encabezaban los mejores Hammerfall entre la melodía, los riffs poderosos y los coros épicos, para muchos una fórmula agotada en Hammerfall, pero que sin duda en The Storyteller funciona perfectamente bien. Muy buenos temas en el disco, todos practicamente, en una obra muy completa, rebosante de la calidad marca de la casa. Hoy quiero dejar otro ejemplo de lo que os digo personalizado en el tema "Sons of the north", de este "Sacred Fire" de 2015, que demuestra el espectacular estado de forma musical en el que se encuentra "The Storyteller", una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

CURSE OF THE SEVEN SEAS

Sexta obra de estudio de los suecos The Storyteller, de este 2015. Ya hemos hablado anteriormente de esta banda en nuestro blog y como ya dijimos, The Storyteller es una banda de Suecia formada en 1995 que hace un power metal de corte clásico que podría compararse instrumentalmente al sonido de bandas como sus compatriotas Hammerfall. Se trata de un grupo de gran talento pero de no demasiada repercusión. Comienzan a sacar discos de estudio en el año 2000, habiendo realizado desde entonces 6 larga duración y un EP. Hay que decir que han tenido bastante estabilidad en la formación en lo referente a sus miembros pero aún así tuvieron una época de pausa entre 2006 y 2011 para a partir de ese año sacar material nuevo, en concreto dos discos, "Dark Legacy" en 2013, del que ya hemos hablado, y este "Sacred Fire", que hoy nos ocupa, un disco que es un retorno aún más a las raíces de la banda, y eso es sinónimo de calidad siempre, con una mezcla perfecta entre la vieja escuela powermetalera sueca que unos años encabezaban los mejores Hammerfall entre la melodía, los riffs poderosos y los coros épicos, para muchos una formula agotada en Hammerfall, pero que sin duda en The Storyteller funciona perfectamente bien. GUARDIANS OF KAIL

The Storyteller es una banda de Suecia formada en 1995 que hace un power metal de corte clásico que podría compararse instrumentalmente al sonido de bandas como sus compatriotas Hammerfall. Se trata de un grupo de gran talento pero de no demasiada repercusión. Comienzan a sacar discos de estudio en el año 2000, habiendo realizado desde entonces 6 larga duración y un EP. Hay que decir que han tenido bastante estabilidad en la formación en lo referente a sus miembros pero aún así tuvieron una época de pausa entre 2006 y 2011 para a partir de ese año sacar material nuevo, en concreto dos discos, "Dark Legacy" en 2013, y "Sacred Fire" en este 2015, y a ambos discos nos hemos ya referido en este bog. Hoy vamos a volver la mirada a sus comienzos como banda ya que nos vamos a referir a su debut en el año 2000 con su disco "The Storyteller", una obra en la que ya mostraban el marcado caracter musical que han impregnado en toda su obra, ya presente en esta primera entrega, desde luego a estos chicos se les nota el sello sueco de Power Melodic heavy metal, con ese toque en ocasiones medievo-folk, (sobre todo en sus obras iniciales), unas pinceladas que hacen de su sonido algo tan particular y que les distingue de otras bandas a las que se da un aire en cuanto a la base de su música, bandas como sus compatriotas Hammerfall, (una vez más sobre todo en sus obras inicales), y sino basta con escuchar la base ritmica de la canción que hoy dejo en el blog, "Guardians of Kail", un tema que perfectamente podría haber estado fimado por Hammerfall, pero es que el resto del disco es similar, merece la pena acercarse a sus primeros discos, sobre todo si te gusta el estilo sueco de power metal de finales de los 90 y comienzos de siglo. Nueva obra de los suecos The Storyteller que está en estos días saliendo. Su título es "Sacred Fire", su sexta obra de estudio, como digo de este 2015. Ya hemos hablado anteriormente de esta banda en nuestro blog y como ya dijimos, The Storyteller es una banda de Suecia formada en 1995 que hace un power metal de corte clásico que podría compararse instrumentalmente al sonido de bandas como sus compatriotas Hammerfall. Se trata de un grupo de gran talento pero de no demasiada repercusión. Comienzan a sacar discos de estudio en el año 2000, habiendo realizado desde entonces 6 larga duración y un EP. Hay que decir que han tenido bastante estabilidad en la formación en lo referente a sus miembros pero aún así tuvieron una época de pausa entre 2006 y 2011 para a partir de ese año sacar material nuevo, en concreto dos discos, "Dark Legacy" en 2013, del que ya hemos hablado, y este "Sacred Fire", que hoy nos ocupa. Tras pocas oidas aún si que podemos asegurar que van en su onda de siempre, con ese sonido de la escuela sueca de Power Melodic heavy metal, aunque en esta ocasión parecen no haber metido ese toque ligeramente medieval folk que solian hacer sobre todo en sus obras iniciales.Para quienes aun no lo hayan escuchado su sonido podría asemejarse como decia al inicio de esta reseña a sus compatriotas Hammerfall, aunque con su propio estilo. De esta nueva obra quiero dejar su canción "god of war", la que más me ha entrado de primeras, y de la que dejo un enlace a Youtube. Recomiendo darse un paseo por la discografía de este buen grupo sueco, pues a pesar de no ser demasiado conocido la calidad que tienen es incuestionable.

STRENGTH OF VALHALLA

The Storyteller es una banda de Suecia formada en 1995 que hace un power metal de corte clásico que podría compararse instrumentalmente al sonido de bandas como sus compatriotas Hammerfall. Se trata de un grupo de gran talento pero de no demasiada repercusión. Comienzan a sacar discos de estudio en el año 2000, habiendo realizado desde entonces 5 obras y un EP. Hay que decir que han tenido bastante estabilidad en la formación en lo referente a sus miembros pero aún así tuvieron una época de pausa entre 2006 y 2011 para a partir de ese año sacar material nuevo, en concreto este Dark Legacy de 2013 del que os dejo la buena canción Strength of Valhalla. Desde luego entre la discografía de la banda encontrareis grandes canciones, y muy probablemente esta última obra no sea la mejor de ellos, de hecho a mi me gustan mucho todos los discos y se puede decir que no hay grandes evoluciones musicales en su sonido, así que diría que este grupo es muy homogéneo musicalmente. Esta canción es un buen ejemplo de la homogeneidad a la que hago referencia pues después del parón siguen sonando muy parecido. Una buena banda para descubrir o redescubrir.
