ISOLATION

Siempre hubo bandas que se llevaban todos los titulares. que se vendían solas, que recibían muchas veces sin toda la justificación un apoyo incondicional y generalizado, pero si lo analizamos esas bandas fueron una minoría, no había mercado para que todas recibieran esas condiciones, la mayoría vivían mucho más entre luces y sombras en el mejor de los casos, una vez más independientemente de su calidad, esa es y siempre fue otra cuestión. Volviendo a las más anónimas, a pesar del reconocimiento más o menos general, los grupos luchaban por sacar la cabeza, por ser fieles a su sonido, a su evolución, a su época y a sus fans, en este entorno bandas como los estadounidenses Armored Saint seguían adelante ofreciendo calidad a quienes les prestasen atención. En 1987 editaban su tercer LP de estudio, reponiendose de la salida de su guitarrista Phil Sandoval, que luego resultaría ser momentanea, y con la tarea de suceder a sus dos primeras obras, dos discazos, con una tercera entrega digna y de similar nivel, algo que lograrían con "Raising fear". Muchos buenos temas adornan esta obra tan completa como recomendable, y de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog el medio tiempo "Isolation" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

MARCH  OF  THE  SAINT

Recuperando de nuevo la escena clásica estadounidense, quiero volver a traer al blog una obra de esas que no cansan, y que son un resumen perfecto en si mismas de como el sonido heavy metal de la vieja escuela es tan efectivo que no necesita de aderezos para gustar, y además envejecer de la mejor de las maneras posibles. La banda en esta ocasión es "Armored Saint" y su obra su LP debut "March Of The Saint" de 1984,de la que ya he hablado con anterioridad y de la que hoy quiero dejar otro de sus temas, concretamente la canción que da nombre al disco, "March Of The Saint", y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

FOR THE SAKE OF HEAVINESS


 Hablar de este grupo es hablar de continuas separaciones y reencuentros. Estos estadounidenses se formaron en 1982 por el cantante John Bush y los Guitarristas Dave Pritchard y Phil Sandoval, Gonzo Sandoval a la bateria y Joey Vera al bajo. Con seis discos de estudio y un EP su producción de obras resulta un tanto escasa aunque es normal atendiendo a la ajetreada trayectoria de la banda. Tres épocas para este grupo, del 82 al 92, separación por la muerte de uno de los guitarristas fundadores, del 99 a 2003, y desde 2008 hasta hoy en día, viendo la luz su última obra en 2015. Armored saint hace un heavy metal con un toque de su tierra, muy americano, muy a lo Bay area Angelino, con cierta afinidad al thrash de la época pero en estilo heavy, y como dato curioso John Bush fue llamado por Metallica para que formase parte de su banda en funciones vocales, algo que John Rechazó. También otro miembro de la banda, el bajista Joey Vera formó parte de otra banda mítica como son Anthrax, tras la salida de Joey Belladona, pasando también por las audiciones para bajista de Metallica tras la muerte de Cliff Burton. Atendiendo a tanto ajetreo es normal las idas y venidas de esta banda en la escena musical. Hoy quiero hablar de su segundo larga duración, "Delirious Nomad", de 1985, donde seguían la senda abierta en su debut y poco a poco iban creciendo sobre todo en su tierra natal. Hoy quiero hablar de su primer larga duración, "March of the saint", de 1984, que no fue el primer material de estudio que habían grabado ya que en 1983 habían editado un EP titulado "Armored Saint", en el que habían recopilado temas de sus tres demos, apoyados por la discográfica "Metal Blade records". Para este "March of the saint" de 1984 cambian sin embargo de discográfica a "Chrysalis Records". Este debut les hace incluso aparecer en la "MTV" con su clip "Can U Deliver", el tema que dejo hoy en el blog, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

La calidad de estos chicos es incuestionable y quiero traer al blog su tercera obra de estudio, de 1987, este Raising Fear, y de ella quiero destacar este tema, homónimo al disco, que siempre me ha gustado mucho.
