NIGHTBIRD

Ya han pasado diez años desde que el guitarrista y compositor Magnus Karlsson comenzase este proyecto en solitario bajo su propio nombre, algo que en principio podía parecer un proyecto puntual pero que con el tiempo y apoyado por la gran capacidad compositiva de este músico ya nos va dejando cuatro LP's de estudio, llenos de melódia, de fuerza y de calidad, con algunas colaboraciones importantes y con un futuro que promete, al menos potencialmente, con seguir dandonos buenos momentos de heavy power metal melódico. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de los temas que forman parte de este cuarto album, "Hunt the flame" de este 2023, en concreto el tema "Nightbird" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Sigue desgranando detalles la nueva obra del sueco Magnus Karlsson, "Hunt the flame" que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo mes de abril. Estamos ante su segundo single "Far from home" en el que Magnus cuenta con la colaboración del cantante chileno James Robledo, artista que si bien no ha despuntado en bandas muy grandes o conocidas si que va creciendo en la escena internacional y que no sería sorprendente que con colaboraciones de este nivel y su buen hacer termine dando el salto a alguna formación de primera línea. HUNT  THE  FLAME

Cuarta entrega de la banda - proyecto en solitario, del multiinstrumentisata y compositor sueco Magnus Karlsson, que es uno de esos músicos implicados en multiples bandas de primera línea y colaborador en muchas otras bien sea a través de la composición de las canciones como a la interpretación de las mismas. En 2011 decide emprender su camino en solitario del que en este 2023 veremos su cuarto fruto en forma de LP, "Hunt The Flame", de la que en estos días nos llega su primer sencillo que será el que de nombre a la obra, un tema del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

QUEEN  OF  FIRE

Segundo adelanto de la tercera obra de estudio en solitario del músico poliinstrumentista y cantante Magnus Kalrsson. Ya es por todos conocida su costumbre de componer para múltiples proyectos o bandas, y en su material en solitario de hacerse acompañar por músicos de primera línea, sobre todo en funciones vocales. Para este segundo adelanto es esto lo que precisamente hace y además con una de las voces más de moda del panorama internacional, Noora Louhimo, (Battle Beast), que presta su voz a esta especie de medio tiempo lleno de sentimiento y fuerza, algo que casa bien con el registro de la cantante finlandesa. HOLD  YOUR  FIRE

Innegablemente el nombre de Magnus Karlsson hoy en día va de la mano de la calidad y debe ser sinónimo de acierto compositivo, tanto para él como para otros, ya que además de su versatilidad como músico y compositor, que abarca además de la guitarra, el bajo teclados y voz. Embarcado en varias bandas en el pasado y el presente así como proyectos con otros músicos, hoy quiero referirme al proyecto posiblemente más personal, al que implica su porpio nombre, "Magnus Karlsson Free Fall", idea que comenzó a tomar forma en el año 2011 y que desde 2013 ha visto al proyecto editar obras de estudio, concretamente tres con este "We are the night" que verá la luz este próximo mes de mayo. Estamos hablando de un sonido heavy power metal melódico, creado solo con la base del Músico poliinstrumentista y el batería Jaime Salazar, además de la costumbre de utilizar músicos de primera línea en cuestiones sobre todo vocales. A juzgar por el primer adelanto del nuevo disco, "Hold Your Fire", canción que abrirá la obra, estamos ante la perpetuación del citado concepto utilizado hasta la fecha, En esta ocasión el invitado en funciones vocales es menos conocido, Dino Jelusic, entre otras bandas participa en Trans Siberian Orchestra como más destacada. OUT  OF  THE  DARK

"Kingdom of rock" es el segundo LP del polifacético músico sueco Magnus Karlsson, con una más que contrastada carrera a lo largo y ancho del planeta metálico. Con una capacidad interpretativa que va desde la guitarra, bajo, teclados hasta lo vocal, se le ha relacionado con bandas tales como Primal Fear, Last Tribe, Allen Lande, Bob Catley, Planet Alliance, Kiske/Somerville, Sterbreaker o The Ferrymen entre otros, además de este, su proyecto en solitario, "Magnus Karlsson Free Fall" del que ya lleva dos entregas. Como sucediese en la primera de ellas, de la que ya he hablado en el blog, en este segundo LP cuenta con la presencia de figuras de primera linea colaborando, sobre todo en lo vocal, así Jorn Lande, Jakob Samuelssen, Joe Lynn Turner, David Readman, o Rick Altzi entre otros. La linea pues compositiva y la idea de la obra es similar a la de su debut, un heavy power metal, y de este segundo disco "Kingdom of rock" de 2015, quiero hoy dejar uno de sus temas, "Out of the dark" con la colaboración de Jakob Samuelssen, cantante de "The Poodles", un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

HIGHER

Hoy traigo al blog a un guitarrista extraordinario y gran compositor sueco llamado Magnus Karlsson. Se trata de un guitarrista que ha tocado desde comienzos de los 2000 en muchos proyectos diferentes formando parte de varias bandas de primer orden y que el año pasado ha dado la sorpresa de este buen disco de power metal de grandisima calidad y con colaboraciones de lujo. Magnus Karlsson comenzó su andadura musical como guitarrista y compositor en un proyecto del sello Frontier records para unir a dos grandes cantantes, nada menos que Russell Allen (Symphony X) y Jorn Lande (Ex de muchas bandas, entre ellas de Masterplan), saliendo la banda Allen - Lande de la unión, pues bien, la mente compositiva que hay detrás es este señor llamado Magnus Karlsson. Ha realizado algún proyecto más del estilo con Tony Harnell cantante de TNT y otra gente en una banda llamada Starbreaker y además puso las guitarras y ayudó en la composición en uno de los discos en solitario de Bob Catley (Magnum). Además, desde 2009 se unió como guitarrista a la gran banda Primal Fear de la que hablaremos en este blog. Con semejante curriculum no sorprende que este disco Magnus Karlsson's Freefall suene bien y que esté plagado de colaboraciones de lujo a la voz, como entre otros Russell Allen (Symphony X), Tony Harnell (TNT), Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen), David Readman (Pink Cream 69) o Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear) que aparece cantando en el tema que quiero destacaros de este album, Higher, aunque os aconsejo escuchar entero el disco porque es realmente bueno.
