NATURAL  THING

Nuevo repaso al nacimiento del heavy metal hoy a través de nuevo de una de esas bandas cuya influencia ha sido reconocida por un buen puñado de nombres fundamentales dentro de nuestra escena, Steve Harris, Kirk Hammet, Dave Mustaine o Joey Tempest entre otros han reconocido lo fundamental de su influjo para su desarrollo futuro como músicos. En 1976 los británicos UFO editaban su quinto LP de estudio "No heavy petting", donde volvían a poner de manifiesto ese sonido característico a mitad de camino del hard rock de la época, el y el heavy metal de la casi incipiente NWOBHM. LIGHTS  OUT

Vistazo de nuevo a uno de los pioneros, la banda británica UFO que siempre se mantuvo en esa delgada línea que separa el hard rock del heavy metal y que comenzó su carrera en 1969 resultando una clara influencia para muchas bandas posteriores muchas de ellas de la NWOBHM. De sus muchas obras de estudio, (22 LP's) hoy quiero recuperar el sexto de ellos, "Lights Out", de 1977, en plena época de Michael Schenker, una obra para la que reclutan como productor a Ron Nevison, acostumbrado a trabajar con Led Zeppelin o Thin Lizzy entre otros. Canciones para una vida - UFO - Doctor Doctor

 

 DOCTOR  DOCTOR

Otra gran banda, los británicos UFO, quienes pusieron su granito de arena en la historia de nuestro sonido, en un principio más unido a la vertiente hard rock setentera, para hacer en esa misma década una incursión hacia el proto heavy con la incorporación del músico Michael Scheker procedente de Scorpions donde compartió banda con su hermano Rudolf. Estamos hablando de un grupo formado en 1968, con 22 albumes de estudio, con grandes nombres unidos al suyo propio en lo referente a integrantes. Es una banda con rasgos variados en lo compositivos, desde momentos rock a otros más psicodélicos o progresivos evocadores, sobre todo de regusto "espacial", hard rock proto heavy, y todo ello siempre con la calidad como norma. En 1974 editan "Phenomenon" el primer disco con Schenker enrolado en sus filas, que hizo al sonido del grupo notablemente más pesado, consistente, heavy. De esta obra dejo hoy en el blog uno de sus temas, "Doctor Doctor", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
