DOWN  TO  THE  BONE

Si uno escucha el material de esta banda, simplemente, sin saber nada más, solo escuchando, sabe instantaneamente que estos tíos tienen que haber llegado a ser grandes. No podía acabar esta aventura con un único LP, y, a pesar de su desaparición como "Avenger", como muchos ya saben su continuidad se daría bajo el nombre de nada menos que "Rage". , ese grupazo a medio camino de tantas cosas que es dificil colocarle una sola etiqueta, una de esas bandas prolíficas, con una extensa carrera llena de material de estudio. Hoy, como digo, retorno a su prehistoria para hacer notar como ya en sus comienzos fueron capaces de dejar fuera del album un tema como este "Down to the bone" que hoy dejo en el blog, una de esas canciones potentes, un derroche de potente energía, sobre todo atendiendo a su epoca, 1985, que deja claro que el nombre "Rage" les va que ni pintado, y que también, deberían tener aún mayor respeto y un puesto si cabe más elevado aún en el panorama general internacional en lo que histórico se refiere. Canciones para una vida - Avenger - Sword Made Of Steel

SWORD  MADE  OF  STEEL

 Es indudable que 1985 es uno de esos años más que reseñables dentro de esto del heavy metal, una fecha especial en el que multitud de bandas hacían ese sonido tan genuino, en que el heavy metal seguía en pleno proceso de crecimiento y comenzaba su diversificación para dar nacimiento a otras cosas que vendrían después, y era además la época de nacimiento o de dar los primeros pasos para grupos que después se han antojado como fundamentales para entender el heavy como un conjunto global. Una de esas bandas, que por entonces llevaba otro nombre era "Avenger", posteriormente "Rage", que hacía su incursión en la escena internacional con todo el desparpajo pero ya con toda su clase que se dejaba entrever en este sonido más en una clave de heavy metal de corte clásico, sin tantos destellos hacia el thrash que llegarían ya bajo el nombre de Rage. Los alemanes se marcaron con este "Prayers of steel" un disco mucho más que destacable, y si nunca lo has escuchado ten por seguro que te sorprenderá para bien, y como obra en conjunto es destacable también sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que es un debut. Canciones para una vida - Avenger - Battlefield

BATTLEFIELD

"Avenger", los alemanes, esconden tras ese nombre los inicios de una de esas bandas que en la actualidad no necesitan de presentación alguna, una banda que no es otra que "Rage". Ahora que "Rage" ha echado la mirada atrás para "Re fundirse" en su formación primigenia bajo el nombre de "Refuge" parece buen momento para mirar a los inicios mismos de la banda, que como digo, surgió del germen de estos "Avenger" a los que hoy quiero dejar en el blog. Formados en 1983, pasearon su power speed metal por las escenas underground europeas hasta 1986 en que deciden cambiar su denominación por "Rage". En ese tiempo editan un LP en 1985, "Prayers of steel" y un EP en 1985 también, "Depraved to black", suficiente como para mostrar a todo aquel que les conoció el tremendo potencial que desembocaría en el fenómeno que fue, y aun continua siendo uno de los grandes de la escena internacional como "Rage". Peavy Wagner a la voz y bajo, y Jorg Michael a la batería son argumento suficiente para despertar el interés de todo metalhead que se precie. Dejo hoy una de las canciones de su LP debut, y a la postre único, como prueba de su potencial posteriormente suficientemente demostrado, en concreto el tema que abre la obra "Battlefield", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
