NEW  GODS

Si algo caracteriza la música de los británicos Sellsword es la versatilidad, además de su calidad contrastable su potencial ya demostrado en sus dos primeras obras de estudio (2016 y 2019) ha provocado que les siga la pista desde sus inicios, y desde ese citado 2019 no ha habido notificación oficial de un tercer LP, sin embargo, durante este 2024 que ya agoniza, han ido editando singles que imagino que terminarán por incluirse en un próximo album, a través de los cuales no hacen sino mantener viva mi sensación de que pueden llegar muy arriba estos chicos. El último de sus singles publicados ha sido "New Gods" (el 29 de noviembre) y de él dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Sellsword - Saxon Steel

SAXON  STEEL

Los británicos Sellsword llevan ya demasiado tiempo sin editar material en formato LP, más si tenemos en cuenta sus fantásticos dos primeros trabajos de 2016 y 2019 en que además mostraron no solo versatilidad sino una progresión que no hace sino desear que su carrera continue dando más frutos. Al menos parecen volver a la actividad compositiva en este 2024, primero editando dos temas en directo y finalmente un single de estudio que esperemos sea el preludio de su tercer disco. Desde luego con este "Saxon Steel" no hacen sino ahondar en las ganas antes expuestas ya que siguen en esa línea mencionada y con nuevo cantante que parece encajar a la perfección. Canciones para una vida - Sellsword - Sagaborne

 

SAGABORNE

Ya he traido al blog a estos británicos, "Sellsword", una banda que no deja de sorprender por lo desconocido y al tiempo la calidad, el potencial, el buen hacer de sus, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, dos únicas obras de estudio, "...And now we ride" de 2016 y "...Unto the breach" de 2019. Hablamos de una heavy metal muy bien ejecutado, con influjo tanto power, como no carente de una estructura técnica usada para partes instrumentales del death melódico, a pesar de escucharlo no deja uno de descubrir el buen gusto compositivo y el monumental talento para poder llegar muy arriba si lo hacen bien en el futuro, aunque deberán para futuros albumes sustituir la figura del cantante que en 2020 dejó la formación. Veremos por donde salen en su tercer LP. El tema es que sus dos primeras obras son absolutamente recomendables, y hoy dejo en el blog otro de los temas que componen el segundo de ellos, concretamente la canción "Sagaborne" de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Sellsword - Crossing The Blades

 

CROSSING  THE  BLADES

Los británicos "Sellsword" son una de esas bandas que han ido sabiendo hacer las cosas muy bien desde el punto de vista compositivo, aunque igualmente son una de esas bandas que de momento han pasado bastante, demasiado, desapercibidos, sobre todo a juzgar por ese citado potencial. La verdad es que en términos de historia de la banda el grupo lleva ya en acitvo casi una década, (desde 2013) sin embargo desde la perspectiva de producción musical tan solo dos LP's adornan su discografía, hasta la fecha de esta reseña. Hablamos de un estilo bastante personal, dificil de encasillar en un solo subgénero pues toma elementos tanto del power como del heavy metal clásico, y ellos mismos le añaden la etiqueta de épico. Además, sobre todo en el segundo album, se nota alguna estructura en lo instrumental, que no en lo vocal, típico de las bandas death melódicas, en defiitiva que parecen tener buenos mimbres para llegar a asomar la cabeza en algún momento. Ya en su debut dejaron buenas pinceladas de su calidad, en la obra "..And now we ride" de 2016, como por ejemplo con este "Crossing the blades" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Sellsword - Blackened Sky

 

BLACKENED  SKY

Sellsword es una banda británica de esas que ha decidido emprender su carrera musical sin apoyos discográficos, autoproduciendose sus, hasta el momento de esta reseña, dos únicos LP's que componen su discografía, "..and now we ride" de 2016, y "...unto the breach" del pasado 2019. Estamos en ese concepto del heavy metal en cierto modo de corte clásico, con aspiraciones épicas, tanto en lo compositivo como en lo lírico, pero con muchos matices, como sin querer cerrar las puertas a otras influencias. De momento sus dos LP's tampoco es que hayan inventado nada nuevo pero si saben sacar buen provecho a las virtudes del grupo, que desde luego está buscando un camino propio y parece mostrar una cierta mejora de la primera a la segunda obra. De esta segunda obra, "...unto the breach" quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, la que más me ha gustado personalmente, "Blackened Sky", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Veremos hasta donde son capaces de llegar estos ingleses.
