Avantasia - Avalon - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

AVALON 

Vamos de nuevo con el proyecto que terminaría finalmente en la banda que a su vez acabaría con Edguy, Avantasia, y más concretamente con su último trabajo publicado, a fecha de esta reseña, su décimo ya LP de estudio "Here be Dragons" que viera la luz de forma oficial a finales de febrero de este 2025, para dejar en el blog otra de las canciones que forman parte de la obra, hoy "Avalon" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Avantasia - Here Be Dragons - Canciones Para Una Vida

HERE  BE  DRAGONS

En esta nueva obra de Avantasia, "Here be dragons" de este 2025, la décima de la banda de Sammet se puede intuir más que en otras a mi parecer una mezcla entre la identidad sonora de los propios Avantasia pero además la de Edguy en no pocos momentos. El disco también es de esos que he ido disfrutando más a medida que he ido escuhandola veces, es un disco completo, con matices y merec la pena prestarle atención. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de sus canciones, en concreto la que da nombre a la obra, un gran tema en que colabora otra de esas magnificas voces del metal, el universal Geoff Tate, uno de los mejores cantantes que ha dado este mundo sin ningún lugar a dudas, que si une sus capacidades vocales a las compositivas de Sammet solo puede dejar pura magia, dejo en el blog hoy un enlace a youtube de este "Here be dragons".

AGAINST  THE  WIND

Nuevo adelanto de "Here be dragons", el décimo LP de estudio de Avantasia, que en palabras de Tobias Sammet se encuentra en su punto más enérgico, abandonado a su instinto, basicamente haciendo referencia compositiva a sus tiempos previos a Avantasia con Edguy. Para la ocasión, en este "Against the wind" a buscado la colaboración de Kenny Leckremo de H.E.A.T., ya que la canción muestra una dualidad sonora entre el power y el hard rock a lo Journey, dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube del clip oficial de este "Against the wind".

Tobias Sammet, centrado ya por completo desde hace mucho, dejando en el limbo a Edguy, se ha transformado en una de esas figuras importantes dentro de nuestro mundillo, uno de esos músicos que además, por la naturaleza de Avantasia, ha establecido prósperas relaciones con enormes músicos internacionales lo que a su vez ha agrandado aún más su propia figura, es por tanto uno de esos nombres ante los que todas las miradas apuntan cada vez que hace un movimiento compositivo, y en esas estamos, en el inminente 2025 editará de forma oficial su décimo ya LP de estudio, "Here be dragons", del que en estos días ha dejado su primer adelanto, "Creepshow" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Avantasia - Welcome To The Shadow

 

WELCOME  TO  THE  SHADOWS

Es peligroso, o atrevido, mencionar por parte de un autor que su nueva obra es lo mejor, o lo más personal que puede llegar a hacer, es demasiada información y mencionarlo demuestra además como mínimo valentía. el caso es que desde siempre, en su aventura en solitario a través de Avantasia o con su banda madre Edguy, el bueno de Tobias Sammet ha tenido siempre muy claro que debía seguir su instinto, y creo que no le debe preocupar demasiado otro tipo de cosas. Al final que una obra sea lo mejor o lo peor que un músico cree es solo el juicio del oyente y al final es el músico el que debe ser fiel a su necesidad compositiva, y de ahí la reflexion inicial, es peligroso asegurar que esta es la mejor obra que Sammet ha creado, como el ha mencionado, la más cercana a si mismo, pues deja abierta la puerta a las críticas en función de dicha frase. Lo que puedo decir es que encuentro puntos diferentes quizá en este último LP, como el aire ochentero de la parte sobre todo "teclistica" de este tema, "Welcome to the shadows", una atmósfera en ocasiones de película de los ochenta, lo cual personalmente para mí no es en absoluto negativo. THE  MOONFLOWER  SOCIETY

Nuevo adelanto del noveno LP de estudio del proyecto germano de Tobias Sammet Avantasia, que verá la luz este 2022 a finales de verano bajo el largo título de"A paranormal evening with the moonflower society", según las palabras de su creador su obra más personal que ha compuesto a lo largo de esta extraña época de aislamiento que ha supuesto el ya aburridísimo coronavirus. Sin duda alguna todas las características compositivas de la banda se reunen de nuevo en la obra y el proyecto está más vivo que nunca en detrimento ya de forma casi irremediable de su banda madre "Edguy" que en no pocas ocasiones al menos yo echo de menos. El caso es que en este nuevo adelanto de título "The moonflower society" se rodea vocalmente con la figura de Bob Catley, uno de esos cantantes que para mi gusto debería tener un mayor reconocimiento general, que siempre cumple con creces en aquello en lo que se involucra. THE  WICKED  RULE  THE  NIGHT

Parece cada vez más claro que la exclusividad de Sammet en su dedicación compositiva para con Avantasia va en detrimento de la existencia de Edguy, la banda madre original del polifacético músico germano. es una pena en ese sentido, pero mirandolo desde la otra perspectiva, de ese concepto compositivo a lo grande, con semejantes colaboraciones que es Avantasia, el bueno de Sammet parece tener cuerda para rato. Este 2022 es testigo de momento de su single "The wicked rule the night" con la colaboración de Ralf Scheepers, un clásico del mundo metálico al que resulta inútil tratar de presentar por la inmensa trayectoria que le avala  El single formará parte del siguiente LP de la banda "A paranormal evening with the moonflower society" que verá su salida en verano. dejo hoy un enlace a youtube en el blog de este "The wicked rule the night".

Canciones para una vida - Avantasia - Alchemy

ALCHEMY

Otro de los temas destacables de la última obra editada por Tobias Sammet bajo el nombre de Avantasia, una banda conocida sobre todo por las colaboraciones de lujo que siempre han llenado sus composiciones y que al final han terminado creando escuela. Esta canción que hoy dejo en el blog "Alchemy" cuenta con una de esas colaboraciones de lujo, a la voz, una canción exquisitamente compuesta y aún mejor interpretada por Sammet y nada menos que Geoff Tate, la voz inconfundible de "Queensryche", uno de los mejores cantantes que ha dado el heavy en mi humilde opinión, y que aporta a este tema ese sentimiento y fuerza que caracterizan sus interpretaciones. Canciones para una vida - Avantasia - Moonglow

MOONGLOW

Hace tiempo ya que no trato de sacar demasiadas conclusiones echando la mirada atrás en lo que al material nuevo de Avantasia se refiere, tratando solo de digerir el álbum en solitario, aunque siempre pesa demasiado el nombre y los deslumbrantes inicios de este proyecto puntual tornado en banda a largo plazo. Pero en el fondo, lo que más puede incomodarme de estos Avantasia actuales es como poco a poco, a medida que avanza la carrera de Avantasia, se ve cada vez más arrinconada la de Edguy, o al menos es la sensación que tengo. Aún así, a pesar de esas sensaciones de verdad que trato de tomarme cada nueva obra de Avantasia como una obra singular, y cuando lo consigo logro disfrutar siempre, al menos, de algunos momentos de forma sincera. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de los temas de este ya octavo LP de la banda, concretamente el que da nombre al disco, "Moonglow", con la colaboración de Candice Night a la voz, en uno de los cortes más vendibles del disco, pero que muestra una vez más la capacidad de Sammet de llegar al público con sus composiciones, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Avantasia - The Raven Child

THE  RAVEN  CHILD

 Es indudable el poder convocatorio de Tobias Sammet, tanto respecto a lo que a público y profesionales se refiere, es decir, todo lo que lleva su firma hace que la comunidad metálica se gire a mirar al menos, y muchos son los que gustosamente, desde el lado de los profesionales de esto, se presten a colaborar para formar parte del innegable talento que siempre ha mostrado este alemán. Por otra parte no es oro todo lo que reluce, y es indudable igualmente que el material que ha compuesto Tobias para Avantasia ha ido poco a poco volviendose más denso, lo que ha cosechado más críticas que el deslumbrante inicio del proyecto a comienzos de siglo hubiese hecho sospechar. De nuevo, en este ya octavo LP de la banda, vemos colaboraciones de lujo en lo que hace presagiar un paso más en la línea de lo anterior publicado, aunque parece haber menos temas largos en esta nueva obra, pese a que el primer single sea este "The raven child" de más de 11 minutos del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a el blog. Es el tema más largo de la obra y en el aparecen acompañando a Sammet, Hansi Kursh y Jorn Lande, ahí es nada. Canción que nos pone sobre aviso de por donde pueden ir los tiros musicales del nuevo disco y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su Lyric video oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Avantasia - Chalice Of Agony

CHALICE  OF  AGONY

Segunda obra de Sammet bajo el nombre de Avantasia, la continuación de su metal opera que tanto sorprendiera a la escena internacional transformándose en un éxito casi al instante. Este "The metal opera parte 2" es para mí un punto de inflexión en Avantasia pues lo veo como la obra a partir de la que Sammet pensó en hacer un proyecto estable y alejarse de ese concepto claramente "argumental" con esa linea tan de historia y girar un poco hacia una banda más tradicional de power, eso sí manteniendo el sello Avantasia a través siempre de colaboraciones de lujo. Esta decisión hizo que en parte la banda perdiese la originalidad inicial y que incluso la banda madre de Sammet, "Edguy" se resintiese compositivamente para mi gusto, a pesar de lo espaciado de los discos de Avantasia, pero alimentar creativamente dos bandas semejantes tiene que resultar complicado, incluso para un músico como Sammet, si quieres mantener el nivel arriba. La prueba de lo que digo la veo cinco años más tarde de este "Metal opera parte 2", en 2007 con su "Lost in space" doble EP, con temas mucho más "Single" por así decir y con una estructura más "Edguy". Sea como fuere, el disco que hoy nos ocupa, "The metal opera part 2" de 2002, resulta un digno sucesor de su deslumbrante debut y planteaba de manera natural la necesidad de hacer de Avantasia una proyecto duradero que muchos metalheads demandaban. Hoy quiero destacar de esta obra uno de sus temas, en concreto este "Chalice of agony", con la colaboración vocal de André Matos y Kai Hansen, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

GHOSTLIGHTS

 Hoy hablaré de este proyecto paralelo del vocalista y compositor Tobias Sammet llamado Avantasia. Como todos sabemos Tobias Sammet es el líder, cantante y principal compositor de la banda alemana Edguy. Para Tobias Sammet, un músico tan prolífico como inquieto, el año 2000 supuso un punto de inflexión en su carrera musical. Tras pasar practicamente del anonimato en 1998 al publicar con Edguy la obra "Vain Glory Opera", con el apoyo en la producción de Timo Tolkki de Stratovarius, que recibió grandes criticas y expectación internacional, el grupo confirmo su buen hacer con la siguiente obra "Theater of salvation", de 1999. Habían hecho lo más complicado que era sacar la cabeza, y con nota, y el año 2000 aprovechan para reeditar su disco "The savage poetry" compuesto por Edguy cuando solo tenían apenas 15 años. La mente de Tobias venia dando vueltas bastante tiempo a un proyecto inmenso en el que juntar su concepto musical con músicos de primerísimo nivel, muchos de ellos héroes de su adolescencia no tan lejana, todo ello envuelto en una linea conceptual muy teatral, en que cada músico tomaba a un personaje como propio en una especie de opera rock. De esta manera surge Avantasia, en principio con la aspiración de hacer realidad el sueño de Tobias Sammet en una doble entrega únicamente. En 2000 sale la primera parte, "The metal opera", que consigue un éxito tan fulminante como en cierto modo inesperado. En 2001 la segunda parte "The metal opera parte 2" no hace sino confirmar el buen hacer del proyecto. Este éxito tiene que ver, primero con el buen hacer compositivo de este genial músico, y segundo con su capacidad para haber hecho que músicos de la categoría de los que aquí cantan se juntasen en un proyecto así, músicos como, Michael Kiske, André Matos, Kai Hansen, Rob Rock, David Defeis, Sahron Den Adel, Bob Catley, Oliver Hartmann, Henjo Richter, Markus Grosskopf, Alex Holzwarth, así como el núcleo de su banda Edguy. Ante el éxito cosechado, en 2006 Tobias decide revivir este proyecto para componer otra trilogía, la llamada "The wicked trilogy", que verá su primera parte en 2008 con su "The Scarecrow". Nuevas figuras internacionales se suman al proyecto, como Eric Singer, Rudolf Schenker, Jorn Lande, Alice Cooper, Roy Khan o Amanda Somerville, ademas de repetir muchos de los de sus dos primeras obras como Kiske, Catley, etc. En 2010 sacará las dos obras que culminan esta trilogía, "Angel of Babylon" y "The wicked Symphony", donde se suma a la constelación de estrellas metálicas, Bruce Kulick, Jens Johansson, Russell Allen, Klaus Meine, Tim "Ripper" Owens, o Jon Oliva. Tras varias escuchas que, en principio he de reconocer que me han costado bastante, finalmente traigo al blog la última creación de Avantasia, "Ghostlights", su ya séptimo disco de estudio, una obra que como digo en principio me costo mucho digerir, pero a medida que he ido dandole ocasiones me doy cuenta de que realmente este músico siempre nos deja destellos de la calidad innegable que tiene, aunque sigo pensando que el disco completo de tirón se me hace un tanto aburrido. Sin embargo hoy dejo en el blog el tema que da título al album, muy Avantasia de los inicios, con Kiske iluminando el camino con su calidad vocal, un tema este "Ghostlights" del que dejo un enlace a youtube. Ya sabeis, opera rock en estado puro.
