INTO  THE  SHADOWS

La carrera de los griegos Achelous va ganando en consistencia obra tras obra como demuestra el último trabajo publicado por la banda hace tan solo unos días, "Tower of high sorcery" editado este 22 de marzo de forma oficial. Como vienen haciendo desde el inicio de su carrera heavy power metal de corte épico, en la línea de tantas bandas griegas y muchas italianas que escogen ese concepto compositivo donde se logran las atmósferas épicas a través de melodías sin artificios sintetizados, y a través de coros. Otra muestra de la madurez que va alcanzando la banda es la colaboración con artistas reputados, en el caso del tema que hoy dejo en el blog nada menos que Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin, voz de Jag Panzer por ejemplo, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Achelous - Dragon Wings

DRAGON  WINGS

Hablando de ese tipo de bandas épicas, como en la anterior entrada en el blog lo hacía con los franceses "Nemedian Chronicles" quiero hoy referirme a "Achelous" y con ello hacerlo también a una de las escenas en las que más se prodigan este tipo de bandas como es la griega, como ya tantas veces he dicho en el blog viviendo un momento dulce como nunca antes y recogiendo los frutos de llevar mucho tiempo haciendo las cosas muy bien. Achelous lleva ya unos cuantos años desarrollando su carrera, concretamente desde 2011 y en ese periodo de tiempo tres son los LP's de estudio que han editado, el último de ellos "Tower of high sorcery" que aún debe esperar hasta marzo para ver la luz de forma oficial. El que conozca a la banda verá que el concepto compositivo se ha mantenido al menos en su primer adelanto de la nueva obra "Dragon Wings", para el que no sepa de la banda puede esperar ese concepto épico true metalero fantástico. Canciones para una vida - Achelous - Savage King

 

SAVAGE  KING

Un paso más en la carrera musical de los griegos "Achelous", otra banda más que contribuye a la buena salud que disfruta la escena griega, en esta ocasión en esa tesitura true epic tan característica de algunas bandas de ese país o de otros como Italia. En este 2022 ven como editan su segundo LP de estudio, "The Icewind chronicles", que parece ser un paso más adelante en su carrera en ascenso. La verdad es que el grupo se formó en 2011 y dos LP's de estudio en más de una década se antojan un tanto escasos, pero desde otro punto de vista a veces es mejor no precipitarse y dejar madurar la carrera de una banda de una manera natural, y si los resultados son buenos al final quizá haya merecido la pena. Además su discografía se completa con dos EP's, lo que le da una mayor solidez que solo con los dos LP's. Igualmente está el particular de que el grupo comenzase como una banda de un solo músico, al que se fue uniendo miembros progresivamente, sobre todo desde 2018. De cualquier manera, y gracias también a esto último, el nuevo disco suena más consolidado, la banda va asentándose y eso se nota. Canciones para una vida - Achelous - Northern Winds

 

NORTHERN  WINDS

Nuevo ejemplo del excelente estado de forma que vive la escena griega en general en esto del heavy. Se trata de la banda "Achelous" uno de esos proyectos de un solo hombre que se encuentra aún en sus primeras fases de desarrollo ya que la banda se forma en 2011 pero no comienza a dar frutos compositivos hasta 2015 en forma de su primer EP, "The cold winds of Olympus". Tras ese material, y ya en 2018 editan su primer y, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, único LP del grupo, "Macedon". Este 2021 el grupo ha lanzado su segundo EP, "Northern winds" con dos temas nuevos y otros tres de su repertorio interpretados en directo. El peso compositivo recae en Chris Achelous que siendo multiinstrumentista se encarga además de todo lo demás contando para la voz con Chris Kappas. Estilísticamente hablando estamos ante ese tipo de sonido tan de la escuela griega e italiana, con un toque épico true. y liricamente gustando de lo histórico, mitológico y fantástico.
