ODE  TO  THE  BLACK  NIGHTSHADE

Mucho tiempo ha pasado ya desde que el noruego Jorn Lande comenzase su andadura en solitario bajo su propio nombre, tras haber comenzado en otros proyectos que le dieron el impulso necesario para mostrar al mundo su carismática voz, concretamente desde 2000 Jorn como banda está en activo, y han editado en este tiempo, y a fecha de esta reseña un total de 15 LP's de estudio. El último de ellos "Over the horizon radar" se publicó en 2022 y de él quiero dejar hoy en el blog uno de sus temas, en concreto "Ode to the black nightshade" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Jorn - Man Of The 80's

MAN  OF  THE  80's

En este año en el que el cantante noruego Jorn Lande cumple el medio siglo sobre la tierra, es una buena excusa para echar la mirada atrás y hacer algún repasillo a su extensa carrera de la que ya he dado cuenta anteriormente en el blog en alguna ocasión. Hoy quiero hablar de la parte final de esta carrera, concretamente de su décimo tercer disco de estudio bajo su propio nombre, "Life on death road" de 2017. Siempre que hablamos del material en solitario de este músico nos tenemos que referir a un heavy metal con tintes tanto de power en ocasiones, como un tanto heavy hard en otras e incluso flirteando con pasajes progresivos aquí y allá. El tono característico de su voz le ha hecho merecedor de no pocas ofertas de participación en proyectos diversos ya que su calidad es sin duda indiscutible. Retornando a su última obra publicada, a fecha de esta reseña, la mencionada "Life on death road" de 2017, quiero dejar en el blog la canción "Man of the 80's", una especie de homenaje a la década de la que ha sacado no pocas influencias y que le vio crecer en ilusión profesional dando sus primeros pasos casi al final de dicha década en varios grupos. Una canción que reune muchas de las virtudes de este músico y de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su lyric video oficial.

TUNGUR KNIVUR

Hablar de Jorn Lande es hablar de un músico de reputación internacional que ha colaborado con muchísima gente en esto de la música. Así, además de hablar de sus siete discos de estudio, y de sus dos discos de versiones, bajo su propio nombre, hemos de referirinos a bandas como Vagabond (!994 - 1996), The Snakes (1998), Millennium (2000), ARK (2000 - 2001), Beyond Twilight (2002), o Masterplan con tres obras de estudio (2002 - 2010), así como su banda paralela con Russell Allen, alma mater de Symphony X, como Allen - Lande, con la que ya llevan 4 obras de estudio, la última de ellas salida hace escasamente un mes y que promete mucho, hasta el punto de que muy posiblemente hablemos de ella por este blog. Además colaboraciones tan importantes como Avantasia o Ayreon entre 2008 y 2010. En fin todo un talento este Noruego. Quiero traer al blog una canción que a mi me gusta mucho, de su segunda obra de estudio bajo su nombre, Worldchanger, de 2001. La canción es Tungur Knivur, con un toque muy vikingo, no en vano, se basa en la mitologia noruega. El disco entero Wolrdchanger es bastante bueno, y nos da una buena muestra de lo que es capaz de ofrecer este gran músico noruego, al que volveremos inevitablemente en alguna otra ocasión en este blog.
