SUNRAVEN

Los suecos Grand Magus han editado en este 2024 su décimo LP de estudio "Sunraven" tras todo un lustro de silencio compositivo en una obra que quizá nos muestra una perspectiva más melódica de lo que es la media tradicional en las obras de la banda, pero que sigue contando con su esperada y esperable dosis de oscurete doom metal, vamos, que su sonido resulta ser muy reconocible para celebración de sus seguidores y en definitiva para los amantes del heavy metal de corte clásico. Publicado el 18 de octubre quiero dejar hoy en el blog la canción que da nombre a la obra, "Sunraven", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Grand Magus - Skybound

 

SKYBOUND

Todo un lustro ha pasado ya desde que los suecos Grand Magus sacase su anterior LP de estudio "Wolf god" allá por 2019. La nueva obra "Sunraven" verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 18 de octubre y supondrá la décima obra de estudio de la banda con su heavy doom oscuro por estandarte desde sus inicios coincidiendo con el inicio del siglo. De momento el grupo nos deja su primer adelanto, "Skybound" que muestra que su sendero discurre inalterado en lo que se refiere a su propuesta compositiva, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Grand Magus - Dawn Of Fire

DAWN  OF  FIRE

El noveno disco de estudio de la banda sueca "Grand Magus" se titula "Wolf God" y ha visto la luz este recién pasado 14 de abril. Como ya he dicho en otras ocasiones sobre la banda, se trata de un grupo con su sonido en clave de heavy, power metal, doom metal. El grupo ha encontrado un camino personal en lo estilístico, con un sonido reconocible y perfilado a lo largo y ancho de sus ya casi 20 años de existencia como banda bajo el nombre de "Grand Magus". Por lo tanto, en lo referente a la última obra del grupo, "Wolf God", encontramos más de lo mismo, para lo bueno y lo no tan bueno, como podría ser esa sensación de monotonía al escuchar un disco completo de la banda, pero desde luego cuando aciertan, aciertan, como en caso de la canción "Dawn of fire", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

VARANGIAN

Tema de adelanto del ultimo disco de Grand Magus, que son una banda sueca de heavy metal con influencia doom, ya sabéis, esa tendencia que muchos consideran un subgénero, en el que con una base de heavy metal los riffs se vuelven un poco más graves y la atmósfera general más lenta y pesada. Pues bien Grand Magus se forma en 1996, como digo en Suecia, aunque durante los primeros años de existencia de la banda funcionan bajo el nombre de "Smack", adoptando su definitivo Grand Magus desde 1999 en adelante. En todo el tiempo de existencia de la banda han editado un total de siete LP's, y el octavo está a punto de ver la luz, "Sword songs" que saldrá a la venta el 13 de mayo de este 2016. Mientras esperamos para poder escuchar el disco completo nos han dejado, como decía al comienzo, el primer tema de adelanto, este "Varangian" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

ON HOOVES OF GOLD

Grand Magus son una banda sueca de heavy metal con influencia doom, ya sabéis, esa tendencia que muchos consideran un subgénero, en el que con una base de heavy metal los riffs se vuelven un poco más graves y la atmósfera general más lenta y pesada. Pues bien Grand Magus se forma en 1996, como digo en Suecia, aunque durante los primeros años de existencia de la banda funcionan bajo el nombre de "Smack", adoptando su definitivo Grand Magus desde 1999 en adelante. Mientras esperamos poder escuchar su material nuevo yo quiero hoy dejar en el blog un tema de otro de sus discos, su aún último disco hasta dentro de un par de meses, "Triumph and Power", de 2014, del que hoy quiero concretamente dejar la canción "On Hooves Of Gold", con ese toque épico tan habitual de la banda en ocasiones, como en esta con un cierto regusto "manowaristico" incluso,  y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
