REVERIES

Tengo la sensación con los suecos Hammerfall que han atravesado por varias fases en su carrera, desde luego no tanto por lo que a composición se refiere ya que siempre han sido ( y así debe ser) bastante homogeneos a la hora de confeccionar obras, esta reflexión va más encaminada a la aceptación de la banda en general, inicios deslumbrantes, comiendose el mundo, sorprendiendo e onfluyendo, luego una época más criticada, precisamente por la homogeneidad al componer, y parece que, aguantando el temporal ahora están ya alcanzando ese momento en que nadie pretende ya que cambien su sonido y si te gustan defiendes cada obra nueva como procedente de una banda importante que marcó su senda hace ya mucho y que muchos han seguido tras ellos. Su penúltima obra "Hammer of dawn" dejo otro buen puñado de temas coreables como este "Reveries" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

AVENGE  THE  FALLEN

Si hay algo en lo que más ha podido destacar esta denostada y amada banda sueca a lo largo de su historia, ya larga, es la aparente facilidad para generar temas que sus fieles adoren desde la primera escucha y que sus detractores critiquen abiertamente ( a pesar de que probablemente tarareen), y es que su capacidad para crear temas coreables, pensando en un directo, no parece tener límites. En este 2024, y a través de su ya décimo tercer LP de estudio, "Avenge the fallen" tenemos un ejemplo más de ello, y no hace falta irse más allá del tema que abre la obra y que la da nombre, para darse cuenta, una canción de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, (lleno de cliches, como no podía ser de otra manera, más leña al fuego para amar-odiar al grupo).

 El 9 de agosto está prevista la publicación del nuevo disco de los suecos Hammerfall, el que supondrá su décimo tercer LP de estudio, "Avenge the fallen" y se van desgranando los adelantos que por otra parte no hacen sino confirmar lo que todos esperabamos y sabíamos, pocos experimentos en el sonido de esta banda a la que por otra parte no le hace mucha falta arriesgar, el nuevo single lleva por título "The end justifies" y de él dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

HAIL  TO  THE  KING

Primeras pinceladas del que será el decimo tercer LP de estudio de los suecos Hammerfall, que llevará por título "Avenge the fallen" y que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 9 de agosto del presente 2024. El primero de los adelantos lleva por título "Hail to the king", con la esperada y esperable fórmula que la banda ha repetido a lo largo de su carrera, lo que una vez más alentará a sus seguidores y detractores en su argumentación. Con esta obra la banda regresa con Nuclear Blast con quienes han estado la mayor parte de su carrera y a nivel compositivo el grupo defiende que su manera general de componer obras está enfocada a cuando las presenten en vivo tratando de hacer discos consistentes en general, en su conjunto. HAMMERFALL

La verdad es que plantearse hablar de esta banda resulta siempre cansado desde el punto de vista de las posiciones adquiridas por todos, la banda con su rol impuesto de banda sin talento o la de muchos metalheads que considerarían que perderían lustre metálico reconociendo que les gusta su material o la banda en general, es demasiado recurrente, y cansado, la verdad. Lo que es innegable por parte de todos, o así debería ser, es la importancia de la banda, de su carrera, de su contribución, y desde luego, aparte de esto, están los gustos personales, completamente respetables. La primera obra de los suecos se me antoja particularmente importante para su devenir como banda unido al impecable sucesor "legacy of kings" del año siguiente. Era 1997, un momento clave para editar un disco debut de tal calibre, tan ilusionante para banda como para oyentes y de dicho LP quiero hoy dejar en el blog otro de sus temas, en concreto "Hammerfall" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

SECOND  TO  NONE

De vuelta a los, diría yo, innecesriamente calificados como polémicos Hammerfall, ya que no debería haberseles puesto bajo una mirada tan crítica desde tan temprano, quizá al inicio no se les debió deificar de tal manera ni despues denostar de manera tan gratuita, es simplemente un caso más de banda que ha encontrado un filón y lo explota repitiendo una fórmula que les funciona perfectamente desde el punto de vista de las ventas como desde el de la puesta en escena en directo, aprendiendo esto también con ña práctica a través de su obra más innovadora "Infected" que fue una pura crítica por parte de propios y extraños, la lectura clara, volver a lo suyo, y en esas están. En 2016 editaban su décimo LP de estudio, "Built to last" con esas características compositivas tan 100% Hammerfall. Poco que añadir, tan solo dejar otra muestra más del buen album, en este caso el tema que lo cierra, "Second to none", cocinado a medio gas, pero con fuerza, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

NO  MERCY

Un resumen en sí mismo de los que a nivel compositivo significa este grupo sueco es esta canción, "No Mercy", perteneciente al duodécimo LP de estudio "Hammer of Dawn" de este 2022, en una carrera de más ya de 25 años donde se les ha criticado y ensalzado casi a partes iguales, que si llegaron en el momento oportuno pero su técnica no es para tanto, que si una u otra cosa, el caso es que ellos siguen adelante con esa fórmula compositiva a la que no se puede negar la efectividad sobre todo, con su capacidad para seguir haciendo girar las cabezas cuando editan un nuevo trabajo. Como digo, temas como este "No mercy" son un buen resumen de su propuesta, marac de la casa, ritmo galopante con un coro enganchón, coreable y que sin duda alguna funcionará a las mil maravillas en vivo, para agrandar la leyenda de los suecos, la negra para sus detractores igualmente. VENERATE  ME

Segundo de los adelantos del que será el duodécimo LP de estudio de los suecos Hammerfall, una banda que como un reloj edita discos de estudio cada 3 años de media  Igualmente su sonido es predecible, una de esas ideas que siempre menciono puesto que son susceptibles por su renombre a ensalzamientos y criticas a partes iguales y me temo que este LP, "Hammer of Dawn" cuya salida oficial será el próximo mes de febrero, inminente ya, no será una excepción a juzgar por lo escuchado en sus adelantos. A pesar de los que lo critiquen abiertamente estos tios siguen a lo suyo y desde luego a quien le guste el sonido clásico de estos suecos les habría de gustar también este nuevo LP. HAMMER  OF  DAWN

Los primeros destellos del décimo segundo LP de estudio de los suecos "Hammerfall" ya están aquí, una obra de título "Hammer of dawn" que verá la luz de forma oficial a finales del próximo mes de febrero de 2022. El primer single se titula como la obra lo hará, "Hammer of dawn" y por lo que se puede ver, o mejor dicho escuchar, será el argumento perfecto para todos, detractores y seguidores, porque suena a lo esperado o esperable, Hammerfall por supuesto. Una vez más por lo tanto saldrá a la palestra esa idea entre la necesidad de evolucionar el sonido de las bandas o de ceñirse a la fórmula contrastada que ya se sabe que funciona, como siempre y como en todo opiniones habrá para todos los gustos, el caso es que la banda continúa a lo suyo y este será su siguiente capítulo. Que puede decirse de esta banda sueca que no se haya dicho ya, cosechadora de sentimientos encontrados, o la amas o la odias, o al menos eso dicen muchos, se trata de un grupo que a significado mucho dentro del movimiento power, y su irrupción en la escena internacional en el momento apropiado, alcanzando gran éxito de ventas internacionalmente ha podido ser el motivo de las críticas para muchos. Ya sabemos esa especie de asociación injusta en muchas ocasiones de ideas entre las buenas ventas y la falta de calidad, o ese intento de justificación que mucha gente intenta hacer de que llegar a mucho público a través de fórmulas "facilonas" es sinónimo de falsedad metálica o vete tú a saber. Es posible, y quizás hasta demostrable, que Hammerfall no pasará a la historia por su virtuosismo compositivo e interpretativo, pero sin duda alguna si que lo hará por la efectividad de sus composiciones. Es igualmente cierto que llegaron al mercado internacional en una época clave, cuando muchas olas nuevas de metalheads se unian al ejercito metálico, quizá desvinculados del material y bandas clásicos, y muchos metalheads clásicos venían de un largo calvario que fueron los inicios de los 90, solo alimentados por un puñado de bandas clásicas empeñadas en no dejar morir al heavy metal en brazos de tantas corrientes que nacían en dicho periodo. Y allí, entre otros, se presentaron estos suecos para deslumbrar con el concepto aún incipiente del euro power pero facturado, empaquetado, y lustroso como nunca antes, a través de una producción impecable que dejaba completamente masticado su sonido para casi cualquier tipo de oido, el acostumbrado y exigente así como el nuevo e "Imberbe". Así pues, el mayor pecado de esta banda, a parte de no contar con grandes maestros entre sus filas, fue su éxito inmediato, algo imperdonable, parece ser, para muchos. Hoy dejo en el blog una representación de Hector, "mascota" de la banda en sus portadas, en este caso a cargo del húngaro Péter Sallai, otro de los grandes artístas del metal.

Siguiendo con las obras y bandas clásicas dentro del power de los 90 no puede faltar el segundo de los LP's de los suecos Hammerfall, una de las bandas que revolucionó el concepto power de corte europeo y que en su segundo LP "Legacy of kings" de 1998 brillo especialmente. Once LP's de estudio conforman su discografía y desde 2019 no editan nada niuevo, lo que hace presagiar noticias en un periodo breve ya de tiempo en ese sentido viendo la tradición compositiva de su carrera, quizá para este próximo 2022. Quiero hoy recuperar pues en el blog otro de los temas que componen esta segunda obra de la banda, en este caso "Let the hammer fall", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

ONE  AGAINST  THE  WORLD

A finales de octubre del presente 2020 los suecos Hammerfall, dioses y demonios según el barrio, editaron el que es su segundo LP en vivo oficial de su discografía, "Live against the world" obra que recoge en directo un amplio repertorio clásico de la banda. Desde luego se puede reprochar a la banda muchas cosas, o no, pero lo innegable es la eterna capacidad de llegar a las masas, de vender y saber venderse, y este directo es una confirmación más de lo que digo. Y es que el grupo, después de más de dos décadas a sus espaldas, y con once LP's de estudio siguen con paso firme adelante sin variar un ápice su propuesta, algo que como siempre repito no tiene porqué ser necesariamente malo. Así que hoy, con la excusa del directo de este año quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones del undécimo album de estudio y último hasta la fecha de esta reseña, "Dominion" en concreto "One against the world" usada por la banda como guiño para casi nombrar el directo mencionado, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Hammerfall - Bloodline

BLOODLINE

Siempre sucede lo mismo con las canciones y discos de los suecos Hammerfall, esa dualidad entre defensores y detractores de la banda, lo cuestionable de la originalidad, de la autenticidad del sonido y lo oportuno de su irrupción en la escena internacional cuando el sonido metalico andaba "entre épocas". El caso, y lo justo es que la banda sigue a lo suyo, sacando obra tras obra sonando a si mismos y con su fórmula siguen enganchando a los que les defienden y cabreando a los que les denostan. Canciones para una vida - Hammerfall - Second To One

SECOND  TO  ONE

 No sin cierta sensación de "caer en la trampa" tejida por la maquinaria de las discográficas y las bandas que se entregan a sus prácticas, traigo hoy al blog esta canción, "Second To One" de los suecos Hammerfall. Me explico, esa sensación, en más de una ocasión expuesta por mi en este blog, con más de un grupo, la sensación de la sobre explotación de una marca, de un nombre, en este caso Hammerfall, unido a una figura ya reconocida como argumento extra, en esta ocasión la cantante de "Battle Beast" Noora Louhimo. El tema originalmente aparece en el disco "Dominion", el undécimo del grupo, e ilustrando mi argumentación, la banda edita en este 2020 una versión nueva de la canción, con la citada colaboración, en forma de single. La historia se repite, como decía más arriba, a lo largo y ancho de la historia de la música, y si no fuese por la calidad de la canción, en una de las especialidades del grupo, las baladas o medios tiempos, no habría hecho mención a la citada canción, pero hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Los suecos "Hammerfall" repiten fórmula, (algo de esperar), una vez más en este "Dominion", undécimo disco de estudio que ha visto la,luz este 2019. Ya he dejado alguna más de sus canciones en el blog y hoy lo hago de nuevo para señalar uno de esos temas que nos muestran el concepto más clásico si cabe en el sonido de la banda, una canción que bien podrían haber introducido en alguno de sus primeros LP's y que lo han hecho en este "Dominion" en forma de bonus track de la edición japonesa, la canción "You win or you die" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

DOMINION

Confirmando lo esperado, una vez más nos encontramos ante una obra de Hammerfall, con lo que ello implica, poca movilidad en lo estilístico, lo cual para nada tiene por que ser necesariamente malo, es más, en muchos sentidos resulta bueno, sobre todo en este caso concreto porque la fórmula funciona, simplemente, la predecibilidad de lo que viene puede hacer a más de uno huir por el posible aburrimiento, pero si tu estilo es el power de corte europeo estamos ante uno de los mejores en ello, y en este nuevo LP, "Dominion" el undécimo ya de la banda, encontrará el fan de la banda, un ladrillo más del hogar musical. Buen ejemplo es el tema que da m¡nombre a la obra, "Dominion", sonido 100% Hammerfall, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

(WE  MAKE)  SWEDEN  ROCK

 Los suecos Hammerfall son otra de esas bandas que hacen girar la cabeza con cada uno de sus nuevos movimientos . Cosechando opiniones a favor casi en la misma medida que en contra, lo que es indudable es la expectación cada vez que se deciden a crear material nuevo.Y en esas estamos, el próximo 16 de agosto verá la luz el disco número once de estudio de la banda en una carrera que se extiende ya más allá de los 20 años. Es evidente que este grupo tiene más que claro a lo que quieren sonar, habiendo sabido crear un sello personal que es marca de la casa, y por lo escuchado en su primer single de adelanto, estamos en dicho sonido. STORMBREAKER

De nuevo quiero romper una lanza en favor del último trabajo publicado por los suecos Hammerfall, una obra con un claro regusto al sonido más clásico de la banda, una apuesta natural en el grupo que puede leerse, (como siempre y más en ellos) desde una doble perspectiva, la de asegurarse desde la perspectiva más conservadora, agradar a sus fieles y no buscarle tres pies al gato, algo que agradará al núcleo más fiel de los templarios por excelencia,o desde la más innovadora una ausencia de argumentos nuevos, algo que tras el inmenso montón de críticas que les trajo la edición de su "Infected" de 2011, y que posiblemente les hiciese pensar que eso de la innovación mejor se lo dejaban a otros. Yo siempre me he declarado a favor del grupo, me parece que posiblemente haya muchas bandas técnicamente mejores que estos suecos, que es cierto que repiten los mismos clichés disco tras disco, pero es que en muchas ocasiones es eso precisamente lo que resulta reconfortante, sobre todo si la fórmula funciona, y otra cosa no se podrá decir de la banda Hammerfall, pero desde luego su fórmula sigue funcionando desde el primer día, y este disco sigue por ese sendero, como demuestran temas como este "Stormbreaker", con todos los ingredientes esperados y esperables de Hammerfall.

Segundo adelanto de la nueva obra de los suecos Hammerfall, una nueva confirmación del sonido típico de la banda, y de que en este nuevo disco que está a punto de salir tampoco van a cambiar sus ideas. Siempre con esta banda sucede lo mismo, despierta el mismo número de comentarios a favor que en contra, pero eso sí, siempre despierta un alto grado de expectación. Yo siempre me he declarado a favor del grupo, me parece que posiblemente haya muchas bandas técnicamente mejores que estos suecos, que es cierto que repiten los mismos clichés disco tras disco, pero es que en muchas ocasiones es eso precisamente lo que resulta reconfortante, sobre todo si la fórmula funciona, y otra cosa no se podrá decir de la banda Hammerfall, pero desde luego su fórmula sigue funcionando desde el primer día, y este disco promete seguir en la linea. Primer adelanto de la nueva obra de Hammerfall, "Built to last", que verá la luz el próximo 4 de noviembre. Siempre con esta banda sucede lo mismo, despierta el mismo número de comentarios a favor que en contra, pero eso sí, siempre despierta un alto grado de expectación. Yo siempre me he declarado a favor del grupo, me parece que posiblemente haya muchas bandas tecnicamente mejores que estos suecos, que escierto que repiten los mismos clichés disco tras disco, pero es que en muchas ocasiones es eso precisamente lo que resulta reconfortante, sobre todo si la fórmula funciona, y otra cosa no se podrá decir de la banda Hammerfall, pero desde luego su fórmula sigue funcionando desde el primer día, y este disco promete seguir en la linea, para muestra este tema de adelanto, una canción que hará las delicias de sus seguidores y aumentará las críticas de sus detractores, pero al final lo más importante es que las bandas hagan lo que sienten, por la música o por la pasta, pero yo siempre celebro que Hammerfall saque una nueva obra. dejo un enlace a youtube del lyric video oficial del tema "The sacred Vow".
