Cuando una banda de las de siempre, músicos fundamentales en la trayectoria del heavy metal como movimiento general sacan nueva música es cuando te das cuenta de lo necesarios que son, que son parte de la banda sonora de tu vida aunque por culpa de un largo silencio les hubieras sacado de tu cabeza momentaneamente, son tantas bandas las que rondan por la cabeza de uno que parece no haber sitio para todas, pero todas son necesarias, unas más fundamentales que otras, pero todas bien recibidas. Impelliteri es uno de esos casos en que el heavy brilla, con músicos como el propio Chris Impelliteri y su shred guitarrero, o Rob Rock y su carismática voz historia viva del sonido que nos une, en este 2024, tras seis años de silencio compositivo editan nuevo material en forma de su duodécimo album de estudio, "War Machine" cuya salida oficial se espera para el 8 de noviembre, y cuyo adelanto "Out of my mind" deja claro su excelente momento, otro grupo que mantiene casi toda la banda intacta desde el comienzo a mediados de los ochenta, más allá de la incorporación para la obra del batería Paul Bostaph con una larga trayectoria detrás por otra parte, un tema de adelanto del que dejo un enlace a youtube, Impellitteri, otro clásico apuesta segura.

YOU  ARE  THE  FIRE

Volviendo a los clásicos, a esos músicos de siempre que tanto han dado al heavy metal, quiero recuperar de nuevo el sonido del guitarrista estadounidense, uno de los máximos exponentes del subgénero shred, que siempre supo además de darle el toque justo de virtuosismo sin excederse, rodearse de grandes músicos lo que le hizo tener esa sensación de banda con todas las de la ley. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su cuarto LP de estudio, "Screaming Symphony", de 1996, con el fenomeno vocal Rob Rock acompañando, con su temática cristiana como siempre, es uno de los grandes exponentes del llamado metal cristiano, y el tema para hoy será "You are the fire" un portentos, y poderoso tema que sirve perfectamente entre otras cosas para demostrar la capacidad total y absoluta vocal del bueno de Rob Rock, una canción de esas que te llenan de energía y de la que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

EYE  OF  THE  HURRICANE

En la vertiente "Shred" del heavy metal siempre hay espacio para todo, para la calidad, para el exhibicionismo desmedido, barriendo hacia el subgénero preferido por el músico, pero con el tentador toque neoclásico casi siempre presente como una especie de tentación que apunta hacia la perfección de las composiciones de siglos pasados, y ese intento de reflejarlo en su propia técnica, velocidad y pasión, momentos para la furia y el sosiego, y como siempre, la virtud está en quien logre un equilibrio muy dificil entre todo ello. El estadounidense Chris Impellitteri es uno de esos guitarristas que sabe bien conjugar todos esos citados elementos para crear calidad, sobre todo en la parte inicial de una carrera que se extiende ya desde 1986 en adelante. 11 LP's conforman su discografía que jamás ha sido plenamente instrumental, antes al contrario, siempre ha sabido rodearse de miembros de primera línea que han conformado una amalgama absolutamente de banda al uso. Hoy quiero dejar en el bloguna de las canciones que dan forma a su quinto LP de estudio con Rob Rock a la voz, una de las indiscutibles voces metálicas reconocidas por doquier. El título de la obra "Eye of the hurricane" de 1997 es el mismo que el tema que dejo en el blog, que demuestra bien el poderío heavy power metalero de estos tíos.

Canciones para una vida - Impellitteri - Stand In Line

STAND  IN  LINE

De nuevo los estadounidenses "Impellitteri" en el blog, con todo lo que ello implica, tanto para lo bueno, (que es mucho), como para lo malo, (algún detallito). De nuevo echo hoy la vista hacia los inicios de la banda, en concreto hacia su primer LP, tras el enorme debut en forma de EP de nombre igual al grupo, y del que ya he hablado en el blog. Para esta ocasión, "Stand in line" de 1988, el guitarrista había hecho cambios en la formación, dejando fuera a Rob Rock que volvería después, pero que en este disco sería sustituido por Graham Bonnet, de contrastada carrera y bastante inquieto, y que curiosamente tiene cierta tendencia a trabajar con reputados guitarristas con tendencia "Shred" tales como Yngwie, Steve Vai, Blackmore o Schenker, además del propio Chris Impellitteri entre otros. Nos encontramos ante un heavy hard, de corte americano y vocación Shred pero que no llega a ser algo demasiado exagerado, conociéndose, eso si, esa costumbre de subir y bajar por el mástil de la guitarra a toda velocidad a la mínima de cambio. firma inconfundible de Chris. Hoy, pues, quiero dejar una de las canciones de esta obra del 88, en concreto la que da nombre al disco, "Stand in line", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

MAN  OF  WAR

El último trabajo editado de la banda estadounidense liderada por el guitarrista virtuoso Chris Impellitteri, se titula "The nature of the beast", un disco editado en 2018 y que resulta ser el número 11 de la ya larga carrera de la banda que luce el nombre de su guitarrista. Una vez más, la portentosa voz de su cantante Rob Rock añade quilates al producto final que sigue sin duda alguna las líneas trazadas a lo largo de toda la carrera de la banda, vamos, que se reconoce al 100 % el sonido del grupo, en un ejercicio de continuidad de lo que puede esperarse de estos chicos. Siempre se guarda un pequeño espacio en los temas para el lucimiento "Shred" de Crhis aunque nunca haya pecado este guitarrista de pasarse en dicho apartado, pero esos instantes reconocibles de demostración de su capacidad técnica siguen y seguirán estando presentes. LOST  IN  THE  RAIN

 Vuelvo a la carrera musical del guitarrista Impellitteri hoy para centrarme en la parte inicial de la misma, concretamente en su primer material editado bajo su nombre, el EP "Impellitteri" de 1987, una obra que servía para poner a la banda en el mapa musical de la época con una propuesta muy fiel a la que desarrollaría en adelante a lo largo de toda su carrera que aún por cierto continua tras ya 30 años y 10 LP's. Como ya he dicho anteriormente en el blog, Chris Impellitteri desarrolla un sonido muy propio pero con algunas similitudes como la del sonido de Yngwie Malmsteen, solo que su fondo es más de la escuela americana, y tiende algo menos al lucimiento personal. Siempre supo rodearse desde el inicio de grandes músicos lo que hizo pensar en la banda más como una banda que como un proyecto "Shred" de un solo músico. Como digo hoy quiero recuperar uno de los temas que le dio a conocer de su material primero, un tema este "Lost in the rain" con el que ya contaba con la presencia vocal de Rob Rock, por aquel entonces, (1987) no demasiado conocido aún pero si absolutamente reconocible, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

WARRIOR

Impellitteri es una banda estadounidense centrada en la figura del virtuoso guitarrista Chris Impellitteri, y cuyo sonido se basa en un heavy metal con un aire un poco más speed, algo neoclásico y con un toque "Shred" casi omnipresente, lo que le da un innegable aire al sonido de Yngwie Malmsteen, solo que de corte menos europeo, como su origen dice, más americano. Sus primeros pasos en el negocio los da autoproduciéndose en 1986 un disco instrumental completamente. En 1987 decide rodearse de buenos músicos y comienza ahí realmente su historia como banda. En ese mismo 1987 edita su primer material de estudio titulado "Impelliteri", junto a Rob Rock en funciones de cantante, que será seña de identidad de la banda en el futuro casi al mismo nivel que la guitarra de Chris. En 1988 edita su primer LP, "Stand in line", (del que hablare en el blog), y para la ocasión el cantante escogido fue Graham Bonnet, uno de los músicos que formaron MSG y Rainbow, Phil Wolfe al teclado, el Ex Quiet Riot Chuck Wright al bajo y el batería Pat Torpey, ex de Ted Nugent. Con Tal formación solo edita este disco y tras ser acusado de plagiar un sonido muy "Rainbow" decide nuevos cambios en el grupo para el futuro. A pesar de ello, "Stand in Line" funciona muy bien siendo incluido su videoclip en la MTV, lo que le da una gran repercusión. Decide volver a la voz de Rob Rock que aparece en todos los trabajos de la banda desde 1992 hasta 2000, y desde 2008 en adelante. En total la banda ha editado 10 LP's y tres EP's. Hoy quiero dejar un tema de su segundo EP, "Victim of the system", de 1993, aunque no aparece habitualmente en las versiones "standard" del EP, siempre la encuentro asociada a esta obra, así que como perteneciente a ella la pongo en el blog, un tema con mucho gancho y como un buen ejemplo del sonido de esta banda que volverá al blog en futuras ocasiones, dejo un enlace a youtube de este "Warrior".
