HEROES  OF  THE  PAST 

En 2017 se forma la banda sueca "The lightbringer of Sweden" en una clave de heavy power, procediendo de la escuela que lo hacen toda una garantía basada en su tradición sonora como nación, y una vez más la calidad está presente en una forma de hacer que al instante resulta muy familiar para los habituales del power de corte europeo. La banda, a fecha de esta reseña tiene dos Lp's de estudio, el debut "Rise of the beast" de 2020 y su segundo intento "The new world order" de 2023, y del que quiero dejar hoy en el blog una de sus canciones "Heroes of the past" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Duskmourn - The Herald And The Wanderer - Canciones Para Una Vida

THE  HERALD  AND  THE  WANDERER 

Vamos con el último material de estudio publicado por los estadounidenses Duskmourn, una banda que en su momento deslumbrase dentro del sonido del death melódico con su impecable debut de 2014 "Legends", algo que después corroborarían con su segundo disco "Of shadows and flames" de 2017 y en general han mantenido el nivel también en el tercer trabajo "Fallen kings and rusted crowns" de 2021. Tras ese material solo han publicado otro single "The herald and the wanderer" en 2023 y del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Steel Rath - Fury Road

 

FURY  ROAD

Brasil es una de esas escenas musicales indudablemente prolífica, desde luego no siempre encuentra uno entre tanta cantidad la calidad en cada ocasión, pero si aumentan las posibilidades de hacerlo matematicamente hablando cuanto mayor es el número de elementos, y en Brasil hay muchos. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de la banda Steel Rath, banda que gusta de ese estilo clásico, heavy metal de la vieja escuela, marcado por las melodías de guitarra, con una ejecución más que correcta que sin deslumbrar en ningún puesto si que conforman un conjunto que ha de ser del gusto de los amantes del sonido de la vieja escuela. Canciones para una vida - Emerald Rage - Archangels

 

ARCHANGELS

Segunda obra de los estadounidenses Emerald Rage, "Valkyrie" publicada en 2023 y que daba continuidad a su debut de 2021 "High King". Hablamos de un heavy metal con toques power, bastante de la escuela americana aunque encontramos líneas melódicas compatibles con la fórmula europea. La banda se forma en 2016, comenzando a editar música en 2019 en formato EP, seguido de otro en 2020, preludio del citado debut en formato LP de 2021. La misma fórmula utilizaron entre su primer y segundo disco, con dos EP's más en este caso ambos en 2021  lo que siguió este "Valkyrie" en 2023 del que dejo hoy en el blog una de sus canciones, en concreto "Archangels" magnífico ejemplo del potencial enorme de esta banda, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

AFTERGLOW

Una muestra más de lo global de ese espíritu clásico de heavy metal en pleno siglo XXI se ve encarnado hoy en los finlandeses Satan's Fall, quienes hace apenas un año su tercer, y a fecha de esta reseña, último LP de estudio "Destination destruction", con todos los elementos que el concepto speedico de los ochenta podía proponer, es evidente que muchas bandas podrían hacer un salto atrás en el tiempo y quedarían perfectamente bien en la citada escena ochentera. Canciones para una vida - Crom - Bridge To Paradise

BRIDGE  TO  PARADISE

Volvamos a Walter Grosse o lo que es sinónimo Crom, la banda germana que en 2023 editó su cuarto LP de estudio "The Era Of Darkness" en una carrera tomada a fuego lento, en que la banda edita casi caprichosamente su material, sin estar sujetos a otras fuerzas que no sean las de hacer caso a su propia necesidad de editar material, la parte buena de esto es que al no haber estres compositivo el grupo puede centrarse más en lo que realmente quiere y al ser bastante fieles a su sonido no cansan a sus fieles en exceso con fórmulas que pueden resultar muy repetitivas, lo malo es que crecer así a nivel internacional fijándose en el gran público general es prácticamente imposible, pero si lo tuyo es este tipo de sonido cada obra satisfará tu necesidad. Canciones para una vida - Kerrigan - Bloodmoon

BLOODMOON

Kerrigan es una banda alemana, una vez más de reciente formación, que enmarca su sonido en el heavy metal, también con cierto regusto clásico, que a fecha de esta reseña han editado tan solo un único LP en 2023 "Bloodmoon". Formados en 2020 queda patente a pesar de ser el principio de su carrera que tienen el sonido, la ilusión y el potencial, como se puede juzgar por ejemplo a través de la canción que da nombre a su obra, "Bloodmoon", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Owlbear es una nueva banda estadounidense de reciente formación (2023), que practica un power - heavy metal que se acerca al concepto americano del estilo, con una temática centrada en el mundo fantástico, sobre todo de "dragones y mazmorras". De momento, y a fecha de esta reseña han editado solo un trabajo en formato LP, "Chaos to the realm" de 2023, al que ha venido a complementar el EP "Legends and lore" de este 2024, por lo que parece que la banda lo tiene muy claro en ese sentido. THE  SEA

Desde Holanda llega la banda Shylmagoghnar, un proyecto iniciado por dos músicos, Nimblkorg y Skirge, proyecto culminado en solitario por el primero de ellos en el tercer LP en 2023, "Convergence" que culmina su primera trilogía, tras la salida del segundo del mundo de la música. Hablamos de un sonido dificil de encasillar en una sola etiqueta, aquí se pueden encontrar rasgos musicales del black metal y el death melódicos, rasgos progresivos con grandes interludios instrumentales. Todo un viaje musical para escuchar con la merecida atención para apreciar los detalles melódicos y los cambios. CREATURES  OF  THE  HUNT

Vamos con otra banda más polaca en una escena que está también francamente en alza en lo que a bandas de heavy metal de regusto clásico se refiere. Hoy son Axe Crazy, formados en 2010 y que a fecha de esta reseña han editado 3 LP's de estudio (2016, 2019 y 2023) además de su EP inicial de 2014. Como digo hablamos de heavy metal de regusto clásico habiendo tenido varios cambios en su formación desde sus comienzos, algunos de ellos en puestos notables como el del cantante. Canciones para una vida - Satan's Fall - Dark Star

DARK  STAR

Satan's Fall son otra banda de las creadas en la década de los 10 del presente siglo y una vez más es otra de las bandas que han escogido recrear el sonido clásico, en una clave de heavy old school. Creados en Finlandia en 2015 han editado ya a fecha de esta reseña dos LP's de estudio (2020 y 2023) además del EP inicial de 2016. Como digo la mirada al sonido clásico esta absolutamente presente aquí, y en general han sido muchisimas las bandas que en los últimos lustros han decidido seguir ese camino, es evidente que el sonido sin adornos, solo a base de percusión cuerdas y voz tiene ese punto de autenticidad que es de agradecer siempre pero que se antoja particularmente acertado a la hora de presentar los trabajos de las bandas en directo. A  SONG  FOR  DENETHOR

Heathen kings es una banda británica de reciente formación (2020) que en el pasado 2023 editaron su primer y a fecha de esta reseña único LP de estudio, "Fealty to none". Estamos hablando de un heavy metal con alguna cierta pretensión power, con una actitud épica. Cuentan en su formación con tres guitarrista a lo que sumar bajo batería y voz, así pues el concepto old school parece claro. Para nada estamos ante un sonido innovador, practican un sonido clásico podríamos decir. Canciones para una vida - Trowsholm - Bury Me By The Sea

BURY  ME  BY  THE  SEA 

A finales del pasado 2023 vio la luz el primer LP de estudio de los escoceses Trowsholm, una muestra del influjo que sus compatriotas Alestorm han ejercido ya sobre muchas bandas, algunas de ellas también escocesas. Se trata de una banda de una banda de reciente formación, que comienza a editar material de estudio en formato EP en 2022, seguido de una buena colección de singles en 2023, que culminaría con el citado debut en ese formato a mitad de diciembre y titulado como la banda "Trowsholm". Así pues folk metal, con un ambiente corsariete, algo festivo y proalcoholico del que dejo hoy muestra en el blog de su debut en formato LP a través del tema "Bury me by the sea" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

DRAGON  EMPIRE

Vamos con otra banda nueva que comienza su carrera como promesa de futuro, ya inmediato, a juzgar por su debut y los singles que van lanzando, son los finlandeses Dragon Throne, cuya carrera comienza en 2019 siendo 2022 el año en que comienzan a editar material de estudio editando su debut y único LP de estudio a fecha de esta reseña, "Dawnbringer". En 2023 editaron dos singles, uno de los cuales "Dragon empire" será el que dejo hoy en el blog. Canciones para una vida - Gatekeeper - Twisted Towers

TWISTED  TOWERS

Vamos con los canadienses Gatekeeper, un grupo de los que dan la sensación de llevar por una parte mayor discografía de la que realmente llevan (tres EP's y dos LP's a fecha de esta reseña) y por otra, atendiendo a su tiempo de actividad (desde 2009) se antoja sin embargo corta para el tiempo, de lo que no hay duda es del potencial, y de su buen hacer. Basando su sonido en las bandas clásicas del heavy metal épico de la escuela americana de la cuerda de Manilla Road, su primer trabajo fue en formato EP en 2013 al que seguiría otro en 2015, para llegar su primer LP en 2018. THE  TALISMAN  AND  THE  BLADE

Muchas veces datos como el origen de una banda y la portada de su obra dan pistas más que suficientes de por donde van a ir los tiros de su sonido, en este caso los canadienses Smoulder no pueden negar su influencia del heavy metal épico que en su día, desde ese lado del charco, bandas como Manilla Road u Omen sembraron en muchos músicos de su época, e incluso como es el caso de varias generaciones posteriores. Estamos ante un grupo, Smoulder, formado en 2013, así que ya cuenta con una cierta trayectoria a sus espaldas. y a fecha de esta reseña cuentan con dos LP's de estudio (2019 y 2023) a los que añadir un EP entre medias, (2020). de su último trabajo publicado "Violent creed of vengeance" quiero dejar hoy en el blog una de sus canciones, "The talisman and the blade", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Thriller - Iron Goddess

IRON  GODDESS

Nueva propuesta en clave de heavy metal clásico pero de pleno siglo XXI, se trata de los germanos "Thriller", quienes con una larga trayectoria juntos bajos otros nombres y desde 2005, en 2022 intentan dar el paso definitivo adelante cambiando su nombre a Thriller y editando su primer trabajo en 2023, "street metal". Es evidente que tampoco han inventado nada nuevo, pero en los últimos lustros ese renacer del sentimiento clásico del heavy metal ha retomado ese sentimiento de autenticidad con voz, cuerdas y percusión, sin adornos ni maquillajes, si a eso añadimos las mayores posibilidades para autoeditarse las bandas su propio material de una manera más asequible y mucho más que decente, vemos multitud de grupos que lo intentan. Hoy de este grupo dejo en el blog uno de los temas de su debut, concretamente "Iron Goddess" que lo abre con toda una declaración de intenciones, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Metallica - If Darkness Had A Son

IF  DARKNESS  HAD  A  SON

Recuperando uno de los temas de lo último de los americanos Metallica entro sin duda y sin poder evitarlo en el pantanoso tema de su presente y pasado, de su decadencia o no, de si son o no son, la verdad, creo que todos estamos ya un poco cansados de la historia, y yo solo trato de rescatar lo que puedo de lo que ahora me encuentro en la banda, como se puede leer entre líneas yo soy de los de sus inicios, (como casi todos). el caso es que de su "72 Seasons" quiero hoy rescatar este "If Darkness had a son", bastante digno tema en si mismo, con marca de la casa Metallica aunque de su nuevo barrio. Canciones para una vida - Chainory - Rise Of Thor

RISE  OF  THOR

La escena sueca es y lleva mucho tiempo siendo una de las importantes a nivel internacional, destacando por encima de todo por su calidad, por la atención a la producción y esa aparente facilidad para componer con garantías de éxito, pero como sucede en el resto de escenas en los tiempos que corren no hay espacio suficiente para todas las bandas que nacen, y los músicos deben buscarse la vida para dar salida a sus ideas, muchas veces auto produciéndose las obras y a través de formatos como singles o EP's de manera que les resulte más posible meter mano a la escena de alguna manera. Chainory podría sin duda entrar en esa categoría, de momento una banda de nueva formación (2023), que se ha lanzado a editar singles desde ese mismo año 2023, un total de tres, y uno ya en este 2024. Hablamos de un power metal bastante europeo, muy de su escena, y una promesa una vez más de que de recibir un poco de apoyo podrían alcanzar altas metas, hoy dejo en el blog uno de esos singles de 2023, "Rise of thor" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Nita Strauss - The Wolf You Feed

THE  WOLF  YOU  FEED

La fantástica guitarrista estadounidense Nita Strauss es una de esas artístas que ha ido creciendo como tal a lo largo de los pasados años militando en los diferentes proyectos y bandas con nombres de toda la vida e importantes, antes de empezar a dar pasos en solitario bajo su propio nombre desde 2017 en adelante. Estamos ante una propuesta de heavy metal con aire progresivo y el inevitable toque Sherd que a los guitarristas virtuosos es casi imposible que no les termine pudiendo. Desde ese 2017 dos LP's de estudio y varios singles han ido dando forma a una carrera que aún está apenas comenzando, sobre todo a este nivel que no hace sino aumentar y ganar en repercusión, porque además de la evidente capacidad compositiva e interpretativa que queda patente enseguida, esta artista tiene el buen acierto de "arrimarse" a colaboraciones que le hacen sumar aún más, como en el caso de la canción que dejo hoy en el blog de su segundo LP, "The call of the void", de 2023, el tema "the wolf you feed" donde une fuerzas con la espectacular Alissa White Gluz en un derroche de energía y calidad, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, magnífico para los oidos y también para la vista, por que no decirlo.
