Canciones para una vida - Rhapsody Of Fire - A Brave New Hope

 

A  BRAVE  NEW  HOPE

La fecha escogida por la banda italiana Rhapsody Of Fire para publicar de forma oficial su décimo quinto album de estudio "Challenge the wind" (31 de mayo) se va acercando, y van desgranandose los temas de adelanto que dan muestra de lo que será su nueva obra. Para mi gusto, ya lo he dicho muchas veces, el grupo ha ido ganando mucho desde la salida de Turilli de la banda, hay un claro retorno hacia su obra inicial, con menos sinfonía (que la sigue habiendo) y más sonido metálico, lo que yo agradezco. El tercer adelanto de la obra lleva por título "A brave new hope" y de él dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

CHALLENGE  THE  WIND

La carrera de los italianos Rhapsody of Fire sigue viento en popa y con el anuncio de su nuevo disco de estudio, "Challenge The Wind" para mayo, el que supondrá ya su décimo quinto LP de estudio, y asentandose sin generar ninguna duda en su época post Lione-Turilli, los de Staropolli, adentrados en su saga Nephilim Empire, editan su nuevo trabajo con el apoyo de AFM y el de Seeb Levermann en la producción, un añadido más. Según Staropolli estamos ante la obra de Rhapsody más metálica, sin respiros para temas lentos pero con todos los ingredientes propios de la banda. KREEL'S  MAGIC  STAFF

Los italianos Rhapsody, o lo que de ellos queda con respecto a la formación original, es decir Alex Staropoli, siguen con paso firme adelante, demostrando cada vez de manera más firme que las ausencias destacadas de nombres como Turilli o Lione está mucho más que superada, no obstante ya he defendido en este blog en más de una ocasión el trabajo de estos "otros" Rhapsody, que a mi entender a retomado una senda que habían llegado a perder, sobre todo en los últimos tiempos de Turilli, y que sin duda Staropoli ha reconducido a orillas que jamas deberían haber abandonado. En este 2023, la banda muestra el primero de los adelantos del que será su nuevo album de estudio del que aún desconozco los detalles. Su título, (del single), "Kreel's magic staff" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

THE  KINGDOM  OF  ICE

En el fondo no deja de ser algo digno de mención, y en cierto modo un resumen de lo que pasa en demasiadas ocasiones en muchos grupos, lo que sucede con Rhapsody, y me refiero a la magnífica obra que se ha sacado de la manga la banda encabezada por Staropolli, quien fue casi "abandonado" a su suerte cuando los nombres que más deslumbraban tras los Rhapsody originales se fueron marchando de la banda. Ha dejado claro el bueno del teclista italiano que no solo tenía parte importante en los mejores momentos de la banda, (para mi gusto los iniciales), sino que ha ido recuperando el nivel progresivamente hasta rayar a la gran altura que este "Glry for salvation" ha demostrado. Si a eso unimos el rumbo compositivo de Turilli y Lione, sus bandas y participaciones queda ya patentemente claro quien y que dentro de la historia de este grupo tan importante para el power sinfónico. El caso es que esa vuelta a los orígenes, simplificando bastante lo que llego a ser un recargamiento excesivo y basandose en lo mostrado en los primeros albumes queda plasmado por ejemplo en este otro tema que hoy dejo en el blog, "The Kingdom Of ice", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Buena prueba del momento que vive la banda italiana "Rhapsody Of Fire", en una nueva juventud con la formación actual es el cuarto adelanto de la nueva obra de estudio "Glory for salvation" de título "Chains of destiny", aprovechando hasta el último momento la promoción de la que ya será la décimo cuarta obra de estudio en formato cd, cuya salida oficial será para el 26 de noviembre. Nada nuevo en su sonido, sobre todo desde la salida  de todos menos Staropoli, ese retorno a las raices, con menos recargamiento en general, lo dicho en las anteriores entradas referentes a esta obra. Nuevo adelanto del que será décimo cuarto LP de estudio de los italianos "Rhapsody Of Fire" que saldrá a la venta el próximo 26 de noviembre de 2021. Nueva confirmación del sonido propuesto por la banda desde que solo Alex Staropoli continua respecto a los miembros de la primera versión de la banda de finales de los 90. En cierto modo se confirma esa mirada a los inicios y este tema retoma ese ambiente medio tiempo, evocador, folk y épico desde la perspectiva melódica tranquila, facil tema una vez más de archivar en tu cabeza del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

MAGIC  SIGNS

Segundo adelanto del décimo cuarto LP de estudio de los italianos Rhapsody, que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo mes de noviembre de este 2021. Se tratará ya del segundo LP sin ninguno de los miembros iniciales salvo Staropoli, quien va perfilando esta nueva época de la banda de forma bastante brillante a mi juicio. En más de un sentido el grupo ha recuperado el espíritu inicial que había perdido quizá en pro de un exceso de Virtuosismo en las manos compositivas de Turilli quien ha demostrado ya sobradamente que ha perdido el norte en muchos aspectos musicales. En definitiva, ante la amenaza en su momento de la salida de Lione también de la banda y la sombra de discolución del grupo, Staropoli ha sabido no solo superarlo sino sobreponiendose darle ese toque actual mirando a los inicios de la banda. GLORY  FOR  SALVATION

Primeras noticias compositivamente hablando del que será el nuevo trabajo de estudio de los italianos Rhapsody of fire, de título "Glory for salvation" y que será el décimo cuarto LP de estudio de la banda, (o de lo que queda de ella), básicamente Alex Staropoli, quien ha mostrado desde que se quedó solo que su capacidad compositiva no debe tomarse a la ligera puesto que para mi gusto ha recuperado en cierto modo el espíritu inicial de la banda, algo remarcable. El primero de los temas de adelanto de la obra, que verá la luz para otoño, lleva el nombre de la misma, "Glory for salvation", y de dicha canción dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Rhapsody Of Fire - I'll Be Your Hero

 

I'LL  BE  YOUR  HERO

Nuevo material de estudio de los italianos "Rhapsody of fire", en esta ocasión en forma de EP, que realmente es un tema nuevo y algunos "Remakes" para la ocasión, lo que me hace pensar que pueda ser el preludio de un nuevo LP en el horizonte, aunque aún no he leido nada al respecto. El caso es que la banda ha aprovechado la ocasión de este nuevo tema para regrabar además la canción "Where dragons fly", precioso tema de los inicios de la carrera musical del grupo que la nueva formación del grupo (caso aparte de Staropoli) hace ahora suya. Además cuatro versiones de la canción "The wind the moon and the rain", la original y la versión en castellano, francés e italiano. La verdad es que suena un poco la edición de este material a intentar mantenerse en la escena vivos, pero el tema nuevo promete que lo que esté por venir seguirá la buena senda que ha mostrado Staropoli en los LP's sin el resto de la antigua banda. TEARS  OF  PAIN

Décimo album de estudio de los italianos Rhapsody (Of Fire), que hoy de nuevo repaso en el blog con la intención de dejar otra de las canciones que lo componen. Estamos ante la penúltima obra de estudio con Fabio Lione en labores vocales y ante el primero sin Luca Turilli en las guitarras y el influjo innegable en lo compositivo que siempre ha ejercido en la banda, no siempre para bien, pero ese es otro tema. Como todo lo que rodea a una banda como esta, cada paso adelante del grupo despierta todo tipo de opiniones, y ante cambios en la formación de este calibre más si cabe, pero he de decir que a mi la obra, y las siguientes, me han gustado, me ha parecido que ha habido una vuelta a los origenes en cierto modo, con menos arreglos, menor complejidad, menos aire progresivo si se quiere, unas estructuras más básicas que a un grupo como este le va bien, según mi opinión. En este "Dark wings of steel" de 2013 se aprecia todo eso, siendo una declaración de intenciones de los pasos que vendrían detrás, y que así ha sido. THE  COURAGE TO FORGIVE

Ya sin ninguna duda, y desde luego a título personal, si hay algo que tenga que ver con los "Rhapsody" originales, aquellos que en el 97 provocaron esa revolución en su sonido, tan imitado posteriormente, tan novedoso en ese momento, tenemos que buscarlo en "Rhapsody Of Fire", banda en la que como todos sabemos, tan solo permanece de la idea original el teclista Alex Staropolli, quien, realmente ha tenido una orientación en este disco "The Eight Mountain" más hacia los inicios de Rhapsody, lo cual en mi opinión es un acierto. Mención aparte creo que tiene el "Lione-Turilli Rhapsody", obra que me ha parecido completamente anónima, absolutamente gris, al menos hasta este momento, aunque reconozco que le debo alguna escucha más. Al final, como en tantas otras ocasiones he dicho con otras bandas, si una persona conocedora de Rhapsody, se acerca al material nuevo de la banda es porque le gusta lo que "Rhapsody" como marca significa, si eso no responde a la espectativa creada no es de extrañar que el simpatizante del sonido termine por desligarse de la banda, y si el grupo se ha cansado de sonar igual, debería seguramente terminar ese proyecto y empezar otro antes de traicionar las raíces. En fin, dejo otra de las canciones de lo nuevo de "Rhapsody Of fire", como digo en la línea de lo esperable, concretamente "The courage to forgive" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

WARRIOR  HEART

 En la innegable batalla abierta, ahora en más frentes que nunca, por el control de la franquicia "Rhapsody", podemos esperar casi cualquier cosa, desde momentos en los que apenas reconozcamos el lustre pasado de una banda que abrió camino en lo suyo, y que durante muchos años fue ejemplo y espejo para tantas otras bandas, hasta aciertos mirando al pasado, o innovaciones más o menos acertadas dependiendo del enfoque compositivo de unos u otros. Hoy quiero recurrir al, digamos, canal oficial "Rhapsody", es decir al que sigue siendo lo que queda de la banda original, léase, los Rhapsody de Staropolli, para referirme a una mirada conceptual descarada a la parte inicial de la carrera de los italianos, encarnada en la canción "Warrior heart" del último disco editado recientemente por "Rhapsody Of Fire". Con un tempo tranquilo, muy de balada épica de los primeros discos consigue aquí Staropolli rememorar ese espíritu rhapsodico que tanto llegase al público hace ya 20 años. Es por lo tanto una idea para nada descabellada que al final del todo sea Staropolli el que termine arrimando "el ascua a su sardina", a la espera, eso si, de la respuesta de Turilli y Lione, veremos, hasta entonces dejo este flash al pasado en forma de esta canción, "Warrior heart" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

MASTER  OF  PEACE

Otro episodio más en la accidentada historia de la banda "Rhapsody", como ya sabrán todos los seguidores de la banda, con la progresiva diversificación del grupo en otra banda liderada por Luca Turilli, y rematándolo en los últimos meses con el anuncio de Lione de unirse a Turilli para formar una tercera versión de Rhapsody en un ejercicio absoluto de "Ego" por parte de estos músicos. Estamos sin duda acostumbrados en este mundo a las idas y venidas, no es algo nuevo, pero rizar el rizo, como están haciendo ahora los integrantes de Rhapsody, peleándose por las cenizas de lo que fuese antaño una máquina de vender discos resulta cuando menos curioso, más aún si pensamos que Turilli y Lione han creado una cuenta para financiar el nuevo proyecto, no creo que sean algunos de los músicos más pobres en esto del heavy metal, pero en fin, libres son de utilizar la fórmula que mejor les parezca, desde luego, veremos el resultado.Entre tanto, "Saropolli" único miembro que queda en "Rhapsody" de los originales, saca un capítulo más de "Rhapdody of Fire", el que será el décimo tercer disco de estudio de la banda, "The Eight mountain", cuya salida oficial está prevista para el inminente 22 de febrero, y que supondrá el primer LP de la banda sin Fabio Lione a la voz. Desde luego el sustituto del carismático vocalista ha seguido clónicamente las tesituras vocales de este, tratando la banda de aguantar un tirón que no se hasta que punto podrá tener continuidad en el tiempo, solo este lo dirá. La realidad es que los últimos discos de Rhapsody han ido poco a poco dibujando una banda demasiado diferente a lo que era en sus momentos óptimos, y aunque he defendido como obra concreta la anterior de los italianos, la salida de Lione puede ser el punto definitivo que eche por tierra la carrera de la banda que conocemos, o puede que no. Hoy quiero dejar uno de los tres singles de adelanto que el grupo nos va dejando antes de la salida oficial del la obra, concretamente "Master of peace" que es la canción que más me ha gustado de las que han adelantado, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Veremos por donde sale el siguiente capitulo de este culebrón.

WINTER'S  RAIN

Otro tema más de esta última obra de Rhapsody en el blog, y van ya unas cuantas, lo que me hace darme cuenta de lo mucho que me ha agradado la última obra editada, que además como después hemos sabido será también la última con Fabio Lione a la voz, dejando al pobre Alex Staropolli al mando de la situación siendo el único superviviente de aquellos Rhapsody que cambiaron un poquito la escena metálica internacional para siempre. En cuanto a la durabilidad de la banda sin dos de sus tres figuras claves y señas inconfundibles de identidad del grupo, realmente mis dudas aumentan, ya que la voz de Lione es difícil de sustituir, (igual que lo fueron las cuerdas de Turilli, y tras el tambaleante primer disco sin el guitarrista original, que en esta segunda obra parecía haberse superado, el tema de Lione veremos donde acaba, además, parece Staropolli comenzar con ese tentador recurso de regrabar los éxitos que dieron gloria en el pasado al nombre de las bandas, regrabando los éxitos más reconocibles con los nuevos miembros en una especie de recopilatorio que bajo el título de "Legendary Years" verá la luz el próximo 26 de mayo, (mal presagio me parece... espero equivocarme...). En fin, a lo que iba, que esta undécima obra de estudio de la banda me ha regalado buenos temas, muchos, como este otro que hoy dejo en el blog, "Winter's Rain", echaremos mucho de menos la garra de Lione a la voz, eso seguro.

VALLEY OF SHADOWS

Otro tema más de esta última obra de Rhapsody en el blog. Evidentemente, a estas alturas de la película hace tiempo ya que no espero un "legendary tales II", menos tras la salida definitiva de Turilli de la banda y ese bache compositivo, o mejor dicho de energía quizás que Rhapsody tuvieron en la anterior obra "dark wings of steel" que sin ser ni mucho menos malo si dejaba en el seguidor del grupo una sensación de que el disco hubiese sido cocinado a medio gas, al menos esa fue mi sensación. A pesar de ello el citado anterior disco si dejaba destellos de Rhapsody, de que habitaban en algún recoveco de la obra pero les cubría una especie de denso velo, vete a saber si por la responsabilidad de enfrentarse a su primer reto sin Turilli en sus filas, o si por demostrarle al propio guitarrista, embarcado en una especie de conquista por el nombre "Rhapsody", que ellos son los dignos continuadores del épico nombre, sea cual sea el motivo, ese estado semi comatoso musicalmente hablando de Rhapsody of fire en su primer LP sin Turilli fue un hecho, y en esta segunda obra sin el guitarrista original, Rhapsody parecen desperezarse un poco, despertar de ese impas y dar un paso adelante, sin duda no en la mejor de sus obras pero si, en mi humilde opinión, en la buena dirección, desde luego muchos temas parecen destinados a despertarles y devolvernos la esperanza de futuros trabajos al nivel de los momentos más grandes de estos italianos. Hoy quiero dejar, como decía más arriba, otro de esos temas a los que me refiero, "Valley of shadows", con ese espíritu mucho más energético más acorde a lo esperable históricamente en esta banda del que dejo pues un enlace.

Ya he hablado en el blog de el tema que nuevamente afrontaré al poner esta entrada de Rhapsody referente a su penúltima obra de estudio, "Dark wings of steel", primer trabajo sin Luca Turilli en el seno de la banda. Como en alguna ocasión ya he comentado, sin ser ni mucho menos malo si dejaba en el seguidor del grupo una sensación de que el disco hubiese sido cocinado a medio gas, al menos esa es mi sensación al escuchar este disco. A pesar de ello si deja destellos de Rhapsody, de que habitaban en algún recoveco de la obra pero les cubría una especie de denso velo, vete a saber si por la responsabilidad de enfrentarse a su primer reto sin Turilli en sus filas, o si por demostrarle al propio guitarrista, embarcado en una especie de conquista por el nombre "Rhapsody", que ellos son los dignos continuadores del épico nombre, sea cual sea el motivo, ese estado semi comatoso musicalmente hablando de Rhapsody of fire en su primer LP sin Turilli fue un hecho. Pero bueno, como en tantas otras ocasiones estamos hablando de una gran banda, unos pioneros en lo suyo y curtidos ya en mil batallas en esto de la música, y que creo que el último trabajo publicado hace tan solo unas semanas han demostrado dar un paso al frente en lo que espero que vuelva a ser una trayectoria ascendente. lo que no te mata te suele hacer más fuerte, y eso espero que les haya ocurrido a Rhapsody tras superar el bache de la salida de Turilli. Hoy quiero recuperar alguno de los destellos de ese primer "Dark wings of steel", y, atendiendo al aire general un poco "alicaído" de la obra, no veo mejor cosa que rescatar un tema un poco melancólico, un medio tiempo, pero para mi gusto de gran calidad, se trata de "A candle to light", bonus track que es la versión inglesa de "Custode di pace", un poco retocada y alargada, y que creo que demuestra que estos tíos, aún en sus horas bajas no dejan de saber hacer música. Canciones para una vida - Rhapsody Of Fire - Into The Legend

INTO THE LEGEND

Ya nos hemos referido, inevitablemente, a esta banda italiana en el blog, y de nuevo traemos al aclamado grupo, en esta ocasión para referirnos a su material nuevo, en concreto a su single de adelanto del trabajo que será editado en este mes de enero de 2016, la segunda obra sin Turilli engrosando las filas de la banda. En total han editado 10 discos de estudio más dos EP's, y este será el undécimo, y la banda ha sufrido, como digo la separación de uno de sus miembros más carismáticos como era Luca Turilli, quien parece tener su propio concepto musical, y que muy desde el principio comienza una carrera musical paralela a Rhapsody, con su propio material, y con una visión musical en principio muy similar a Rhapsody para ir tornándose más propia y que, por otra parte, a mi personalmente a medida que pasa el tiempo me parece que se pierde más en su propio ego, le veo demasiado "Divo", cada vez más alejado del heavy y más cercano a una visión musical tan personal que al final solo se escuchará el mismo. Volviendo a Rhapsody, en 2006 cambian su  nombre a "Rhapsody of Fire" por cuestiones de derechos legales sobre el nombre, y en 2011 Luca Turilli abandona definitivamente el grupo para crear su propio "Luca Turilli's Rhapsody". Este segundo disco sin Turilli, parece, dicho sea con todas las precauciones por ser un single de adelanto, que quiere recuperar un sonido más clásico del grupo, al menos me lo parece, por ejemplo en el tema de adelanto que dejo en el blog hoy, aunque evidentemente, me refiero a los discos más nuevos, no a los comienzos, la época que personalmente más me gusta del grupo, aún bajo el nombre solo de Rhapsody. Lo que resulta evidente, aún con los cambios en la alineación de la banda, es que nos encontramos ante uno de esos grupos mucho más que consolidados musicalmente y cuyos miembros Lione y Staropolli poco tienen ya que demostrar, y sinceramente creo y espero que se levantarán definitivamente del "golpe" de la salida de Turilli de sus filas. Espero que este disco sea prueba de ello, tras su anterior "Dark wings of steel", de 2013, que sin ser malo, en mi opinión, si evidencio un "flojeo" con respecto al solido concepto que venían mostrando.
