LIFTING  THE  CURSE 

Tres años han pasado ya desde la publicación del segundo y a fecha de esta reseña, último LP de estudio del la banda británica Ty Morn, que es exactamente el mismo tiempo que pasó desde el debut del grupo en 2019 hasta su continuación en 2022. el caso es que esta interesante banda podría estar a punto de publicar algo nuevo a juzgar por la mencionada trayectoria, teniendo que seguir recurriendo al material publicado hasta la fecha mientras esperamos su siguiente paso, es buena excusa para recuperar algo de su material pasado, hoy, de su segundo LP, de 2022, "Last Villain Testament" recupero el tema "Lifting the curse", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Woods Of Wonders - The Pirate Queens

THE  PIRATE  QUEENS

Mirando la actual formación de la banda mencionada en la anterior entrada del blog, los franceses Fairyland, encontre una incorporación nueva a la banda imagino que parte de la estrategia de volver a poner en marcha a la banda y con ese objetivo de intentar darle mayor continuidad, de ser más regulares, veremos, esa incorporación mencionada es la del músico y compositor holandés Gideon Ricardo, que se une al grupo en 2024, pero que ya había comenzado a publicar material propio anteriormente a través de su proyecto "Woods of wonders" desde 2021 y que en 2022 dio el fruto de su único material editado a fecha de esta reseña, "Lost", una suerte de Metal Opera, que cuenta con varios miembros de sesión interpretando cada parte correspondiente, nada nuevo ni tampoco extraordinario en una fórmula que tiempo atrás tuvo muchos exponentes pero que a la larga, más allá de Avantasia no parece la mejor manera de llegar al gran público, lo cual no implica que no haya buenos momentos para rescatar siendo más una fórmula claramente de canciones más que de obras completas en mi humilde opinión, por ejemplo en el tema "The Pirate Queens" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Vanquisher - Nemedian Chronicle + The Pride Of Aquilonia

NEMEDIAN  CHRONICLE  +  THE  PRIDE  OF  AQUILONIA

Desde siempre, a nivel personal, todo aquello que huela a Robert E. Howard y sobre todo al universo Conan the barbarian, tiene un irresistible influjo sobre mí, atrayendo mi atención irremediablemente, el problema es que en no pocas ocasiones la calidad de lo que uno se encuentra no suele estar a la altura de lo que uno espera, pero en otros momentos esto no es así, descubriendo propuestas como mínimo interesantes. El tema con Vanquisher tenía pinta de ir en esta dirección, sobre todo al añadirle otros ingredientes, tales como su escuela de origen Suecia, y la propuesta épica de su sonido heavy power. Estos Vanquisher, (los suecos pues hay más propuestas con el mismo nombre), comienzan su andadura en 2014, pero no será hasta 2017 que editen su primer material en formato EP, "A demostration of power", seguido de un largo silencio compositivo que no se rompe hasta 2022 con su primer LP "An age undreamed of", editado de forma independiente. Sin ser para nada una propuesta novedosa ni tan siquiera portentosa en lo técnico, si es eficaz, y suficiente para que resulte ser otra banda más que desarrolle su carrera en la voraz escena internacional. Como digo heavy power como propuesta con ese aire épico y su propuesta Hyborea en lo lírico, como dejo en esta muestra que es el inicio de la obra con su intro y su primer tema, "Nemedian Chronicle + The pride of Aquilonia", de las que dejo un enlace a youtube.

OCEAN  TWILIGHT

De nuevo una banda más a la que en principio, por el planteamiento previo y su etiqueta de metal sinfónico con voz femenina, no habría prestado mucha atención por el alto riesgo de "opereta" que encuentro en este tipo de bandas, pero que, en ocasiones, me hacen mantener la esperanza de que el intento de clonar al sonido Nightwish no ha de ser siempre la norma, máxime cuando uno lee que en la canción que hoy traigo al blog se ha producido la colaboración de un músico llamado Nicolaj Ruhnow. Timeless Rage, desde Alemania y su debut en formato LP "Untold" de 2022 con la canción "Ocean Twilight" con algunos toques progresivos y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Hammerfall - Reveries

 

REVERIES

Tengo la sensación con los suecos Hammerfall que han atravesado por varias fases en su carrera, desde luego no tanto por lo que a composición se refiere ya que siempre han sido ( y así debe ser) bastante homogeneos a la hora de confeccionar obras, esta reflexión va más encaminada a la aceptación de la banda en general, inicios deslumbrantes, comiendose el mundo, sorprendiendo e onfluyendo, luego una época más criticada, precisamente por la homogeneidad al componer, y parece que, aguantando el temporal ahora están ya alcanzando ese momento en que nadie pretende ya que cambien su sonido y si te gustan defiendes cada obra nueva como procedente de una banda importante que marcó su senda hace ya mucho y que muchos han seguido tras ellos. Su penúltima obra "Hammer of dawn" dejo otro buen puñado de temas coreables como este "Reveries" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

RED  SONJA

Otra nueva banda más, Maule, en este caso de la escuela canadiense, que también una vez más han escogido el sonido del heavy metal clásico para desarrollar su carrera, poderoso concepto rozando lo Speedico, un gustazo. Formados en 2017, debutaron en lo compositivo en 2022 con su primer y a fecha de esta reseña único LP de estudio "Maule", al que han dado continuidad con el EP "Kill em Maule" en este 2024. RF Force es una banda brasileña de reciente formación que se centra en el sonido heavy metal con un claro regusto clásico. Creados en 2021, en 2022 editan su primer y a fecha de esta reseña único album en formato LP, "RF Force". La escena brasileña es otra de esas que parece estar muy activa con nuevos grupos, y la vertiente de bandas que quieren mantener la esencia viva del heavy metal de la vieja escuela está también representado en este país, por ejemplo con RF Force. Canciones para una vida - Riot City - Eye Of The Jaguar

EYE  OF  THE  JAGUAR

Parece que la escena canadiense es muy propicia para este tipo de bandas, aquellas que basan su sonido en la vieja escuela y en la vertiente speedica del heavy metal, a juzgar por el gran número de ellas con esa procedencia y esa inclinación compositiva, en esta ocasión la banda Riot City, formada en 2011 pero que empieza a dar señales de vida compositiva en 2019 a través de su primer LP "Burn the night". En 2022 dieron continuidad a su carrera desde la perspectiva de editar música a través de su continuación en formato LP "Electric Elite". Así pues nada nuevo a la vista, pero si un buen guiño al sonido clásico, más leña al fuego de la resurrección del heavy metal de toda la vida en pleno siglo XXI, de su segundo LP quiero dejar en el blog hoy el tema que lo abre, "Eye of the jaguar" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

RUSTELOOS

Un poquito de folk metal de tintes épicos encarnado en los holandeses Vanaheim, un grupo de reciente formación que parece seguir la tradición de bandas europeas y holandesas del género. Formados en 2015 2022 fue testigo de su debut en formato LP ya que hasta la fecha solo habían editado dos obras en formato EP, (2017 y 2020), así pues una banda en pleno crecimiento y expansión. Canciones para una vida - Frosttide - Warrior

El otro día me puse a mirar como iba la carrera de los finalndeses Frosttide, ya que hacía bastante que no tenía noticias de ellos y la verdad es que me disgustó saber que han dejado de momento su continuidad en el aire, si bien es cierto que no han dado aún por terminado este proyecto en este tipo de casos las cosas no suelen terminar bien en lo que a continuidad se refiere, espero equivocarme ya que su sonido siempre ha sido muy de mi agrado, desde que en 2009 comenzasen, solo dos LP's de estudio dan forma a su carrera, (2013 y 2015), a los que sumar tres EP's más (2010, 2012 y 2018),siempre con su death melódico de intenciones folk, muy compatible con los grupos del tipo Ensiferum, Brymir, etc. Quiero hoy dejar en el blog el último material que nos han dejado, el single de 2022 "Warrior" que no viene sino a demostrar que por poder podrían seguir con todas las garantías ofreciendo música de calidad total, los tiros irán por otra parte imagino, dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de este "Warrior".

Canciones para una vida - Blind Justice - Blood On My Steel

BLOOD  ON  MY  STEEL 

Ya en muchas ocasiones me he referido en el blog al grandísimo momento que atraviesa la escena griega, con multitud de bandas de todo tipo y de primer nivel, pero eso es algo que no es así por casualidad, llevan mucho tiempo por allí haciendo las cosas bien y cuando así se hace se terminan por recoger los frutos, de esa manera, al igual que sucede en la mayor parte de los países nórdicos, en Grecia se va cogiendo una inercia que hace que muchas bandas jóvenes vean posible hacer una carrera internacional, y eso anima también a bandas veteranas que no encontraron su momento a tener una segunda juventud y una carrera al final, caso de estos "Blind Justice", que estuvieron en activo entre la parte final de los 80 y el comienzo de los 90, funcionando solo con demos, y desde 2012 reanudan su actividad para finalmente editar su debut en 2016 en formato LP, para seguir en 2022 con su EP "Asgardian Steel" del que hoy quiero dejar uno de sus temas, "Blood on my steel", heavy power metal un tanto true Manowaristico del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Jenocress - The One

THE  ONE 

Seguimos con la escena danesa, siempre también con bandas de primerísimo nivel y tradición, algo fundamental para arrastrar a bandas y músicos más nuevos a seguir los pasos de quienes les abrieron camino. Esta nueva banda se llama Jenocress, formados en 2022 y que por el momento de forma independiente han ido editando en 2022 y 2023 algunos singles, de momento a fecha de esta reseña un total de tres. El primero de estos singles lleva por título "The One" con ese sonido que practican power de corte europeo en una línea bastante sueca digamos, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Line Of Durin - Durin The Deathless

DURIN  THE  DEATHLESS

Con una cierta actitud compositiva de este lado del charco la propuesta de los estadounidenses Line Of Durin es un black metal en lo instrumental un tanto epic power refrendado por los coros y por un aire atmosférico presente en su sonido. Formados en 2016 editan su primer material en 2019 en formato EP, después 2022 fue testigo de la publicación de su primer LP "Ever Homeward". Con ese nombre de la banda queda clara la temática tolkieniana, lo que puede explicar sin ninguna duda la orientación compositiva con ese aire incluso folk, como digo muy europea. Canciones para una vida - Asterise - Falling Stars

FALLING  STARS

Vamos con un proyecto internacional, griego-polaco, en clave de power metal pero en una onda metal opera, bastante en una línea Avantasia y similares. Se llaman Asterise y tras su formación en 2018 comienzan a publicar material en 2022, primero un par de singles preludio de su único LP a fecha de esta reseña, "Two Worlds". Con un solido bastante europeo que podría haberse editado tranquilamente en la década de los 2000 a juzgar por su composición, buena y limpia producción y promesa de seguir adelante como banda a juzgar por la obra en su conjunto. Que mejor manera de sacar conclusiones que a través de uno de sus temas, en este caso "Falling Stars", en ocasiones con unos teclados muy Stratovaricos o a los Sonata Arctica de sus inicios, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Aquilla - Arrival

 

ARRIVAL

El pasado 2022 la banda polaca "Aquilla" edito su debut en formato LP, aunque ya venían editando material en formato EP desde 2017, dos años tras su formación. El caso es que la banda nos dejó un mucho más que prometedor trabajo en clave de heavy, por un lado compositivamente hablando de claras raices clásicas, desde el punto de vista de la producción limpia, muy de nuestros días. Es uno de esos grupos a los que tengo la absoluta intención de seguir de cerca pues tienen todos los ingredientes de poder llegar bien alto si siguen por ese sendero. Buen ejemplo de lo dicho el segundo tema del citado album "Mankind's Odyssey" como digo de 2022, concretamente se titula el tema "Arrival" y de él dejo un enlace a youtube de su lyric video oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Ash Of Ashes - The Eternal Traveller

THE  ETERNAL  TRAVELLER

Ya en 2018 esta banda de solo un par de miembros nos dejó un grandísimo sabor de boca con su debut "Down the white waters", y en el pasado 2022 edito una más que digna continuación que muestra además un cierto crecimiento y una perpetuación en su concepto con ese aire folk, épico, y un tanto progresivo, atmosférico, se nota ese ambiente un tanto melancólico, buena ejecución, grandes composiciones y líricas evocadoras. Su segundo album lleva por título "Traces" y de él dejo hoy en el blog el tema "The eternal traveller", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Battledragon - Ascending From The Fire

ASCENDING  GROM  THE  FIRE

Battledragon es una banda finlandesa de esas que han llegado al panorama metálico de un forma menos convencional, comenzando por hacer durante unos años versiones de canciones ajenas al heavy metal entre 2014 y 2018 para desde ese año en adelante comanzar en una senda  más propiamente dicha de nuestro género, en este caso enmarcando su sonido en un power melódico que de momento solo se ha plasmado en una buena colección de singles hasta 2022, concretamente 10, el último de ellos de 2022 y lleva por título "Ascending from the fire", como el resto de sus creaciones auto producidas, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Dolezall - Scourge Of God

SCOURGE  OF  GOD

Otra banda más que se encuentra aún dando sus primeros pasos compositivos, los chilenos Dolezall, que en clave de heavy power melódico recupera la tradición de finales de los noventa y los 2000 del estilo con esa tradición que encontramos en bandas por ejemplo argentinas y que Dolezall ha sabido hacer suyas, algo que se nota bastante en la forma de crear coros y en general la construcción vocal algo skiltroniana o triddanica. Pero aquí no encontramos la vertiente folk, si el espiritu épico. Formados en 2020 de momento, y hasta la fecha de esta reseña han editado solo un LP, en 2021, pero también tres EP`s a modo de trilogía "Dark tales from medieval times a lo largo de 2022 y 2023 que podría unido tomarse por un segundo LP.  Del primero de esos citados EP's "Part 1 a dark beginning" dejo hoy el tema que lo abre, "Scourge of god" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Triddana - The Ground Of The Fallen

THE  GROUND  OF  THE  FALLEN

Sin noticias ultimamente de la definitiva publicación de un nuevo LP, la banda argentina Triddana desde 2018 no edita material en dicho formato, y el aviso generado en 2022 de un inminente nuevo LP quedó tan solo en un EP con tres temas que lleva por título "wasted paradise" y que se publicó en ese mismo 2022. Esperemos que la banda creada tras la escisión de Skiltron continue su andadura compositiva en un futuro próximo. Del citado trabajo en formato EP, quiero dejar hoy en el blog uno de sus temas, "The ground of the fallen", del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Jorn - Ode To The Black Nightshade

ODE  TO  THE  BLACK  NIGHTSHADE

Mucho tiempo ha pasado ya desde que el noruego Jorn Lande comenzase su andadura en solitario bajo su propio nombre, tras haber comenzado en otros proyectos que le dieron el impulso necesario para mostrar al mundo su carismática voz, concretamente desde 2000 Jorn como banda está en activo, y han editado en este tiempo, y a fecha de esta reseña un total de 15 LP's de estudio. El último de ellos "Over the horizon radar" se publicó en 2022 y de él quiero dejar hoy en el blog uno de sus temas, en concreto "Ode to the black nightshade" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
