Canciones para una vida - Headhunter - Rock My Day

 

ROCK  MY  DAY

 Otra banda más de esas de breve paso por la escena internacional, de la década de los ochenta, en clave de heavy metal de la vieja escuela y que apenas encontró respaldo en la escena general pero que al mismo tiempo en su único LP publicado dejo motivos para pensar de ese potencial necesario para el desarrollo de una carrera mucho más larga y reconocida. El grupo fue "Headhunter", uno de los varios que escogieron ese nombre para intentar su aventura musical, en este caso me refiero a los suizos, que encarnaron este proyecto viniendo de otras bandas tales como Krokus en el caso de Many Maurer a la guitarra y Peter McTanner a la voz, o de Killer, (los suizos) con el citado Maurer y Beat Kofmehl al bajo. El periodo de actividad de esta banda estuvo en torno a mediados de los 80, editandose solo este album homónimo al nombre de la banda en 1985, uno de esos años mágicos para el heavy metal de corte clásico, y de dicha obra hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, por ejemplo "Rock my day", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Rhapsody Of Fire - Glory For Salvation

 

GLORY  FOR  SALVATION

Primeras noticias compositivamente hablando del que será el nuevo trabajo de estudio de los italianos Rhapsody of fire, de título "Glory for salvation" y que será el décimo cuarto LP de estudio de la banda, (o de lo que queda de ella), básicamente Alex Staropoli, quien ha mostrado desde que se quedó solo que su capacidad compositiva no debe tomarse a la ligera puesto que para mi gusto ha recuperado en cierto modo el espíritu inicial de la banda, algo remarcable. El primero de los temas de adelanto de la obra, que verá la luz para otoño, lleva el nombre de la misma, "Glory for salvation", y de dicha canción dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Sonic Haven - Back To Mad

 

BACK  TO  MAD

A modo de confirmación quiero hoy dejar en el blog otro de los temas del nuevo proyecto de Frontiers "Sonic Haven", igualmente nuevo proyecto del cantante alemán Herbie Langhans, cantante y compositor conocido por su trabajo entre otras bandas en Seventh Avenue, Firewind, Avantasia o Sinbreed, toda una garantía, que en este proyecto ha unido fuerzas con otros músicos participantes en bandas como Bonfire, Rage, Silent Force o Radiant entre otras, teniendo que añadir a la lista de nombres a esa pareja "productora" tan reconocida, sobre todo en alguna década pasada como Sascha Paeth y Miro, ex de Heavens Gate. Semejante colección de nombre propios metálicos no podía dejarnos nada malo, y así es, se trata de un disco este "Vagabond" lleno de momentos destacables en clave de power de corte europeo, otro de los cuales es este "Back to mad" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Witherfall - The Last Scar

 

THE  LAST  SCAR

Los estadounidenses "Witherfall" son una banda cuyo sonido se enmarca en un power con toques progresivos bastante hija de su escuela, es decir, suena americana, pero para nada peca de nada en concreto, lo cual ha de tomarse como un piropo y abre el foco para muchos tipos de metalheads potenciales que encontrarán un recoveco en el que ver reflejado ese punto que les guste. El aire melancólico envuelve en general la obra, favorecido por la versatilidad vocal de Joseph Michael, que muestra igualmente su capacidad de fuerza y potencia. Uno de esos grupos que acuden a mi cabeza es Iced Earth, no en vano la mano de Jon Schaffer está tras la producción de este tercer LP de Witherfall "curse of autumn" de este 2021. Se ve el enorme potencial del grupo que comenzó su andadura en 2013 y que va cosechando cada vez mayor número de seguidores por méritos propios. Canciones para una vida - Manimal - The Inevitable End

 

THE  INEVITABLE  END

Los suecos Manimal muestran ya todas las cartas del que será su cuarto LP de estudio, "Armageddon", un bagage un tanto escaso si tenemos en cuenta que se formaron como grupo en 2001, aunque no cogieron cierta "velocidad de crucero" en lo referente a la composición hasta 2009, y mayor continuidad desde 2015. Es también claro el paso adelante que la banda ha dado desde el magnífico pasado LP "Purgatorio", que esperemos que este nuevo "Armaggeddon" mantenga ese nivel o lo supere. Esta cuarta obra verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 8 de octubre, y hasta ese momento el primero de los singles de adelanto, "The inevitable end" confirma el buen momento y sigue dando una buena sensación que ya mostraban en el single "forged in metal" de hace un par de meses y que ya dejé en el blog sin conocer aún el título del disco nuevo al que ahora conocemos, una canción, "the inevitable end" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Crowne - Kings In The North

 

KINGS  IN  THE  NORTH

Muy poquitos días hace que traje al blog otra de las canciones de este nuevo proyecto sueco llamado "Crowne", un grupo colaborativo en clave de hard heavy melódico, con un toque moderno dentro de lo que hacen bandas como Eclipse o Dynazty, con miembros de grupos contrastados y que se han sacado de la manga un disco que muestra un buen hacer por otro lado marca de la casa. Al final, lo propuesto en esta obra es una música muy fácil de digerir, con melodías que directamente se alojan en tu cabeza, sobre todo si gustas de ese sonido hard melódico moderno con aire hard heavy. Otro de esos temas que directamente a anidado en mi cerebro es la canción que da título a la obra, "Kings in the north " y no he podido evitar dejarla en el blog, a pesar de la citada al inicio de esta reseña, proximidad con el anterior tema que deje de este disco, y es que cuenado algo es bueno, es bueno. Canciones para una vida - Axel rudi Pell - There's Only One Way To Rock

 

THERE'S  ONLY  ONE  WAY  TO  ROCK

El alemán Axel Rudi Pell es un ejemplo de lo que es ser regular, en general, y en lo referente a sacar discos, ya sean obras nuevas, ya sean recopilatorios,(sobre todo de baladas), ya sea de versiones (como es este caso) o directos, estamos ante un auténtico martillo pilón, un músico que fiel al estilo que se ha propuesto desde el inicio, edita material siempre de calidad casi cada año, y, teniendo en cuenta la extensión ininterrumpida de la misma será con el tiempo una de esas bandas con mayor número de LP's publicados, posiblemente junto con Rage. Contando todos los citados anteriormente LP's este será el número 32, nada menos, propiamente de estudio este será el 20. El primer adelanto de este "Diamonds Unlocked II", es el tema "There's only one way to rock", versión del tema original de Sammy Hagar (más conocido como ex cantante de Van Halen entre 1985 y 1996), canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Silver Lake - In Her Solitude

 

IN  HER  SOLITUDE

Nuevo proyecto de una serie de músicos de reputación contrastada y sólida, encabezados por Esa Holopainen, el alma mater y guitarrista desde el comienzo de nada menos que Amorphis, uno de esos grupos que rara vez, (por no decir nunca) defrauda. Para la ocasión se junta con otros músicos aparte de su banda madre, para perpetuarse un poco en el sonido que tenemos en la cabeza sabiendo de sus relaciones musicales, y dar así salida a material propio. Hablamos por lo tanto de death melódico, heavy metal y toques progresivos por poner alguna etiqueta, pero sobre todo hablamos de calidad como no podía ser de otra manera. La obra ha visto la luz el pasado mes de mayo y de ella hoy dejo en el blog uno de sus temas, No he podido resistirme a que fuese "In her solitude" en el que colabora Tommy Joutsen de Amorphis, parece casi un adelanto de lo que se supone nos dejara la citada banda en este mismo 2021. dejo pues un enlace a youtube de este "In her solitude".

Canciones para una vida - Crowne - Perceval

 

PERCEVAL

Nuevo proyecto de esos que se forman con la unión de fuerzas de miembros de varias bandas, con el apoyo una vez más de una discográfica, en este caso "Frontiers" lo que nos puede dar una pista de por donde se mueve el sonido de la banda, "Crowne". Hablamos de ese arco sonoro que abarca desde el hard rock al heavy metal melódico y está musicalmente respaldado por miembros de Europe, H.E.A.T., The Poodles y Art Nation. Estamos pues ante ese sonido nórdico con un cierto aire modernete pero al tiempo clásico, un tanto en la línea de lo hecho por Eclipse, o Gathering Of Kings. Calidad, en lo compositivo además de en la impecable producción. El proyecto comenzó a tomar forma en 2020 y este 2021 ha sido el momento para publicar este "Kings in the north" del que hoy dejo en el blog una de las canciones que más me han gustado de la obra, "Perceval" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Children Of Bodom - Soon Departed

 

SOON  DEPARTED

Décima y a la postre último LP de estudio de la fenomenal banda finlandesa Children Of Bodom, antes de que decidiesen en 2019 separar sus caminos y disolver la banda para disgusto de sus muchos seguidores. Propietarios de un death melódico, técnico, espejo para muchas bandas posteriores y por méritos propios considerados como uno de los mejores en lo suyo, su último LP, "Hexed", del propio 2019, no desmerece en absoluto al resto de su discografía, dandonos esa sensación de que les quedaba cuerda para rato y de frustración ante lo que podría haber seguido estando por venir. Muchos ejemplos de canciones ilustran lo que digo respecto a su última obra, otra de ellas es el tema que hoy dejo en el blog, "Soon Departed" con una vocación casi de medio tiempo, un tema de esos que a medida que lo escuchas veces se va metiendo en la cabeza para anidar allí, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

DANCING  WITH  THE  DEAD

Como una máquina promocional, la banda alemana Powerwolf va desgranando su nuevo material poco a poco con el apoyo de una de las grandes discográficas como es Napalm Records, aderezando los singles nuevos con temas viejos en vivo, colaboraciones y demás, EP's especiales colaborativos mostrando ese potencial de ventas que ya lleva siendo mucho tiempo esta buena banda. Canciones para una vida - Allen - Lande - Down From The Mountain

 

DOWN  FROM  THE  MOUNTAIN

La fórmula de juntar músicos reputados, de trayectoria importante no es algo nuevo en esto de la música, y concretamente en el heavy metal se ha hecho muchas veces con mejor o peor resultado. En esta ocasión me refiero a una de esas aventuras que junta a dos cantantes en esta ocasión, Russell Allen y Jorn Lande, proyecto impulsado por el sello discográfico "Frontiers", que comenzó esta historia en 2005 con la primera de sus entregas "The battle". Hats la fecha de esta reseña, son cuatro los LP's que este duplo ha sacado, con el apoyo compositivo en los tres primeros de Magnus Karlsson, figura mucho más que reconocible como compositor además de interprete poli instrumentista, y en su cuarto LP, "The Great Divide", sustituido por Timo Tolkki, de quien sobran presentaciones. Hablamos de un estilo musical a medio camino entre el hard rock y el heavy metal melódico, siempre, como no puede ser de otra forma por la categoría de los músicos implicados, con la calidad por estandarte. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de los temas que componen su cuerto y, hasta la fecha, último LP editado por el proyecto, "The great divide" de 2014, concertamente la canción "Down from the mountain" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Duskmourn - Fallen Kings And Rusted Crowns

 

FALLEN  KINGS  AND  RUSTED  CROWNS

Tercer Lp de los estadounidenses "Duskmourn", una de esas bandas que desde el comienzo de su carrera ha mostrado la calidad como meta y que sin duda alguna, sin saber del origen de la misma y solo escuchando su material uno la situaría en la escuela europea sin dudarlo. Estamos hablando de death melódico con un trasfondo folk, muy de la escuela nórdico europea y que gusta de melodía y potencia a partes iguales, con atmósferas en ocasiones melancólicas y pasajes instrumentales. La banda la componen solo dos músicos que se encargan de todo y una vez más este "Fallen Kings and rusted crowns" ha sido auto editado este recién pasado 19 de junio de este 2021. WHERE  RAVENS  FLY

 Segundo zarpazo de adelanto del que será el décimo tercer Lp de estudio ya de los alemanes Braistorm, quienes han dado ese giro en sus últimas obras hacia un power más puro, más "Europower", pero que muestra su propio sello compositivo y que una vez más, en este segundo adelanto de su nueva mencionada obra "Wall of skulls" cuya salida oficial se espera para mediados de agosto, mustran todos esos elementos característicos de su carrera. Hablamos pues de calidad compositiva y producción pulcra, (con la colaboración una vez más de Seeb Levermann de Orden Ogan). Este segundo single de adelanto se titula "Where ravens fly" y de él dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Epica - The Skeleton Key

 

THE  SKELETON  KEY

 A pesar de no ser lo mio el denominado "Metal sinfónico" de corte operístico con esa enorme lluvia de bandas que nacieron al calor de Nightwish y de su mega éxito internacional, si que es de mi agrado repasar de cuando en cuando ese subgénero para siempre darme la ocasión de descubrir buenos temas, sobre todo de unas bandas más que de otras, y una de esas bandas que miro con mejores ojos en este tipo de sonido siempre han sido los holandeses Epica quienes en este 2021, allá por febrero publicaron su ya décimo LP de estudio, "Omega", del que hoy quiero traer al blog una de sus canciones. La verdad es que ese complemento vocal, ese contrapunto entre la voz femenina de Simone ( que no abusa de la tesitura operística), y la másculina rasgada le da esa ruptura que me resulta más attractiva a los oidos, La banda tiene un alto estatus internacional no por casualidad y su discografía está llena de canciones reseñables, discos enteros si lo tuyo es este sonido. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog un buen ejemplo del buen hacer de la banda personificado en la canción "The skeleton key", como digo del presente 2021, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
