Canciones para una vida - Eldertale - Time Of Ancient

 

 TIME  OF  ANCIENT

Eldertale es una banda ucraniana de esas que han tenido un fugaz paso por la escena musical, sobre todo desde el punto de vista de su discografía absolutamente escasa, que se limita a un único EP con tres temas en clave de folk metal melódico, con los elementos esperables comunes a los grandes nombres del subgénero, coros, voz death que se une a momentos limpios y narrados y melodía como hilo conductor. Decía lo de su fugacidad sobre todo en lo compositivo porque en su tiempo de vida fueron bastante más extensos, con varias épocas entre 2005 y 2017, pero editando como digo un solo trabajo, el EP "Land of old" de 2014. Así pues los amantes del death melódico de corte folk de bandas como Ensiferum y compañía encontrarán más que interesante su propuesta, aunque se limite a tres canciones antes de su separación definitiva, como digo en 2017. PALACE  OF  THE  MARTYRS

Siempre al hablar de esta banda griega, "Battleroar" debemos tener en cuenta ese componente épico, automáticamente nos llega ese concepto "True" pero fuera del "macarrismo estético" de Manowar, es mucho más "True" que todo eso, menos artificial, más de la escuela de "Manilla Road" por ejemplo, más de cara a si mismos que a la marca autogenerada de los citados Manowar, aunque, en lo sonoro, por ejemplo en el tema que hoy dejo, puede uno irse al material inicial de los americanos. Hablamos hoy del último LP editado de la banda, (a fecha de esta reseña), "Codex Epicus" de 2018, una obra que ya he traido al blog anteriormente y de la que hoy quiero dejar otro buen ejemplo del sonido que se gasta este buen grupo perteneciente a esa escena tan fiel a su sonido como es la griega, hoy en día en buen momento con buenos proyectos nuevos o casi despuntando. Canciones para una vida - Ereb Altor - Wolfcurse

  

WOLFCURSE

La banda sueca "Ereb Altor" es un grupo de esos que van a lo suyo, una de esas bandas que se centran en el sonido que quieren crear independientemente de ventas oo críticas, sin apenas apoyo discográfico y con espejos en los que mirarse que tampoco escogieron el camino de las ventas, pero que si han terminado conquistando el reconocimiento, como puede ser "Bathory". Hablamos de calidad, de un concepto oscuro aunque melódico, lleno de matices, un género dificil de hacer llegar a cantidad de fans, pero que hace que los fieles al sonido lo sigan siendo en general. El punto acustico podría abrirles muchas puertas pero el regusto oscuro vocla y atmosférico puede cerrarselas a esos potenciales seguidores, y viceversa. El caso es que la banda lleva ya en activo desde 2003, y en este tiempo han editado ya 8 LP's y un EP. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, penúltimo LP de estudio, "Ulfven" de 2017, la canción "Wolfcurse" con sus características más notables, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

STREET  LIFE  DREAM

Una de las bandas japonesas más prolíficas dentro del sonido metálico ha sido, y sigue siendo "Loudness", pues a pesar de la enorme cantidad de años que hace de su formación, (1981), siguen en activo en la actualidad con casi treinta LP's de estudio, muchos de ellos en version inglesa y japonesa.La verdad es que eso de ser profeta en tu tierra es algo que no siempre resulta sencillo, pero en una escena como la japonesa, tan entregada históricamente al sonido metálico, la calidad evidente de esta banda "Loudness" debía tener premio, y así ha sido, sobre todo allí. Siendo como han sido una banda muy internacionalizada, también ayudada con la inclusión de algún cantante de reconocimiento internacional como Michael Vescera entre 1989 y 1991. Yo personalmente, y creo que es algo bastante generalizado, solo tengo realmente escuchada la primera parte de su carrera, sobre todo la ochentera, que nos ha dejado garndes momentos musicales y disco muy reconocidos, como el enrome "Thunder in the east" de 1985. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de otro de sus discos reseñables, el sucesor del citado "Thunder in the east", "Lightning Strikes", del año siguiente, 1986, sexto LP del grupo que en Japón apareció con el título "Shadows of war" y que contiene temas tan notables como este "Street Life Dream" del que hoy dejo un enlace a yotube.

Canciones para una vida - Carnal Agony - The Witching Hour

 

THE  WITCHING  HOUR

Otra banda más de la también extraordinariamente prolífica cantera sueca, adornada casi genéticamente con la calidad. Se trata de "Carnal Agony" quienes este año 2020 han editado su segundo LP de estudio, "Back from the grave". Se trata de un grupo que si bien no ha llegado a despuntar aún, si tiene ya cierto recorrido pues su formación se remonta ya a 2011, habiendo editado su debut "Preludes & Nocturnes" en el año 2014. Desde entonces nada de nada hasta este 2020, quizá de ahí el título de esta segunda obra, "Back from the grave". Hablamos de un power metal de corte europeo, que inevitablemente nos trae reminiscencias de "Sabaton" tanro en la estructura compositiva de los temas como en el registro vocal del cantante y en su forma de usar la voz. Y es que los suecos "Sabaton" han dejado mucha influencia en la escena internacional, imagino que más aún ensu tierra natal. Obra pues, por lo tanto, interesante para conocer a esta banda, y de este disco de este año dejo hoy "The witching hour", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Tercera ocasión en la que acudo al nuevo material de estudio de los suecos "Dynazty" quienes en su carrera de ya trece años han demostrado ampliamente la calidad que atesoran siendo desde hace tiempo más que una promesa toda una realidad. Es cierto que para muchos pertenece a esa corriente de bandas expuestas a la crítica fácil por la accesibilidad de sus composiciones, por la generalmente fácil digestión de sus temas, esa veritiente más popular y vendible si se quiere decir así, con el aire ochentero, casi bailable podríamos decir, pero que no quita ni un apice de calidad a esta banda que ha encontrado su camino en esa fórmula. Canciones para una vida - Grave Digger - The Heart Of Scotland

 

 THE  HEART  OF  SCOTLAND

Cuando hablamos de una banda capaz de editar, (por el momento) 19 LP's de estudio, lo hacemos de un grupo en el que no es raro que ellos mismos echen la vista atrás a su propia trayectoria y traten de rememorar alguno de los momentos más brillantes de la misma, algo que pueden conseguir con más o menos acierto, o incluso con una intención más o menos recaudativa, sin embargo, si atendemos solo a lo musical, se trata de una arma de doble filo, pues la jugada puede salir bien o mal. En el caso de Grave Digger, con este "Fileds Of Blood" el guiño es evidente al "Tunes Of War" del 96, obra simplemente magnífica, pero tratandose de un grupo con semejante capacidad, peronalmente considero esta "revisita temática" como un acierto, aunque siempre me he declarado admirador de esta banda alemana y quizá no sea del todo objetivo. El caso es que hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de las canciones que componen esta obra, que considero recomendable en su conjunto. Canciones para una vida - Kenziner - Curse Of The Pharaoh

 

CURSE  OF  THE  PHARAOH

Esperemos no tener que esperar otro lustro para escuchar material nuevo de este buen grupo, como ha venido sucediendo a lo largo de su carrera. Es una gran pena que esta banda finlandesa haya tenido tan poca continuidad en su carrera porque de haberla tenido la promesa que nos hacen en esta última obra es de una posible trayectoria importante, llena de grandes destellos. Ya, desde luego, si atendemos a lo editado vemos ese potencial y esa realidad, la pena es la mancionada falta de continuidad que solo nos ha dejado cuatro LP's en más de veinticinco años. Pero atendiendo al presente entre manos tenemos en este 2020 este "Phoenix", obra recomendable en su conjunto donde vemos plasmadas las virtudes del grupo a alto nivel, el aire progresivo, la base power, el toque neo y las pinceladas "Shred" en sujusto punto, algo dificil de ver. Hoy quiero dejar otra de las canciones que lo componen, en concreto "Curse of the Pharaoh", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

El próximo 21 de octubre es la fecha escogida por los finlandeses "Mors Principium Est" para sacar a la venta su séptimo LP de estudio, "Seven". De él nos van dejando alguna pincelada ya como el tema que hoy traigo al blog. Hablamos nuevamente de death metal melódico de primera calidad, una vez más demuestran su técnica composición e interpretación, marca ya de la casa, y de la escuela finlandesa, por supuesto. Así pues, y a juzgar por lo escuchado en este adelanto, "A day For Redemption", en la línea de lo esperado, lo que hará disfrutar a los seguidores de la banda. Canciones para una vida - Mob Rules - Secret Signs

 

SECRET  SIGNS

Ya desde los inicios de este grupo alemán se veía venir que su trayectoria podía llegar a ser larga y fructífera, aunque eso, por si mismo, realmente nunca ha sido una garantía, finalmente la calidad termina siendo un factor más en la existencia de una banda, y por desgracia en no pocas ocasiones otros elementos mucho más prescindibles terminan siendo igual de importantes si no más. Pero esa es otra historia, la cosa es que Mob Rules, ha demostrado siempre, desde el principio de su carrera que la calidad estaba ahí. Así, tras su formación en 1994, editaron su primer LP en 1999, bajo el nombre de "Savage Land", un prometedor debut que mostraba el camino que la banda pretendía seguir, con ese power de corte europeo que nos han regalado a lor largo de , hasta la fecha de esta reseña, nueve LP's de estudio y dos EP's. Canciones para una vida - Kreator - Golden Age

 

GOLDEN  AGE

Kreator es una de las grandes bandas del thrash alemán, con su larga trayectoria que se remonta a comienzos de la década de los ochenta en la que el nucleo principal del grupo cambió de nombre hasta en tres ocasiones para terminar adoptando el definitivo de Kreator con el que aún funcionan. Su noveno disco de estudio fue "Endorama", de 1999, la obra de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, Se trata de una de esas controvertidas obras en las que la banda trata de buscar nuevos senderos, algo que los seguidores más fieles del grupo no suelen ver con buenos ojos, más cuando el timón compositivo se aleja demasiado del sonido original, como puede ser el caso de este "Endorama", en el que el thrash más clásico de Kreator se torna un sonido más oscuro, pero no contundente, algo más melódico,flirteando con el sonido gótico casi cas en ocasiones. Pero teniendo en cuenta el disco sin la historia que le precede, siempre se pueden destacar buenos momentos, como la canción "Golden Age", que hoy quiero dejar en el blog,  tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Axatak - Let The Beast Run Wild

 

 LET  THE  BEAST  RUN  WILD

Solo hace falta ver la portada para saber mucho de este banda o de la época a la que pertenece. se trata de otro de esos grupos perdidos en la abarrotada historia del heavy metal, otra banda más que apenas pudo asomar la cabeza para no tener reconocimiento alguno y desaparecer tan rápido y anónimamente como aparecieron. En este caso procedentes de una cantera no demasiado habitul, (a pesar de AC/DC), como la australiana. Su sonido era una mezcla entre el hard rock y el heavy metal, un tanto en la línea de Twisted Sister si se quiere, y con unas pretensiones estéticas algo "Kiss". El sonido claramente estaba influido por ese sonido americano pero también en una línea más heavy en algunos puntos. Formados en el 81, su actividad dura hasta el 85, tras la salida de este EP, "Axatak".que fue su único material de estudio. De ella hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de los cinco temas que lo componen, en concreto "Let the beast run wild", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Frosttide - Oceans Peace & Tranquility

 

OCEAN'S  PEACE  &  TRANQUILITY

El último material de estudio de los finlandeses "Frosttide", fue "Decedents", en formato EP, del pasado 2018. A base de EP's, a parte del par de LP's que han grabado, este grupo va forjandose su discografía, y su actividad se remonta ya al año 2009, siempre con ese espíritu death melódico con tintes folk en ocasiones y más técnicos en otros momentos. Sea como sea han demostrado desde el inicio su calidad, y en 2018, dejaron otra muestra de ello, (la última hasta la fecha de esta reseña). Compuesto por cinco temas, parece invitar ya a que la banda publique otro larga duración en breves fechas, pero de momento al menos yo no tengo noticias en ese sentido. Quiero pues dejar hoy en el blog uno de esos cinco temas, más bien dos si contamos con la intro, "Ocean's peace & Tranquility", un corte en plan death melódico técnico, del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Iron Savior, valor seguro por trayectoria e historia personal, que hoy no repetiré, pero por centralo, Piet Sielk cuenta con ese curriculum envidiable para muchos que es historia viva de esto del heavy metal, y, eso, plasmado en su proyecto personal, en el que él es el que tira del carro, el jefe supremo de las decisiones y las interpretaciones, de las composiciones y de la dirección técnica, solo puede tener un resultado, calidad. Si además miramos al inicio de su carrera con Iron Savior, como es el caso de este "Unification", segundo LP de los alemanes, del año 1999, debemos añadir al coctel el ingrediente de esa ilusión de ver crecer al proyecto personal del músico. Poco más que decir, un disco lleno de joyas, canciones ya clásicas para muchos que hablan de un disco bastante recomendable en su conjunto, y del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, concretamente "Coming Home", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Sellsword - Blackened Sky

 

BLACKENED  SKY

Sellsword es una banda británica de esas que ha decidido emprender su carrera musical sin apoyos discográficos, autoproduciendose sus, hasta el momento de esta reseña, dos únicos LP's que componen su discografía, "..and now we ride" de 2016, y "...unto the breach" del pasado 2019. Estamos en ese concepto del heavy metal en cierto modo de corte clásico, con aspiraciones épicas, tanto en lo compositivo como en lo lírico, pero con muchos matices, como sin querer cerrar las puertas a otras influencias. De momento sus dos LP's tampoco es que hayan inventado nada nuevo pero si saben sacar buen provecho a las virtudes del grupo, que desde luego está buscando un camino propio y parece mostrar una cierta mejora de la primera a la segunda obra. De esta segunda obra, "...unto the breach" quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, la que más me ha gustado personalmente, "Blackened Sky", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Veremos hasta donde son capaces de llegar estos ingleses.
