IMMORTAL

El sexto album de la banda australiana "Lord" se titula "The Fallen Idols". Estamos hablando de un grupo que hace un sonido en clave de power metal, pero con rasgos muy personales en influencias variadas que dan al grupo ese aire personal e interesante. Dificil comparar a este grupo con otro muy similar. Estamos ante un grupo que en cierto modo es continuación de otro que desarrollo su actividad desde mediados de la década de los 90 hasta mediados de la de los 2000, llamado "Dungeon", así pues, y teniendo en cuenta que desde 2003 está en activo "Lord" nos encontramos ante músicos más que curtidos y cuya valía ha quedado ya patente en más de una ocasión. Como decía al inicio el sexto disco de estos australianos se titula "The fallen idols" y se editó el pasado 2019. Como digo siempre es extremadamente interesante el materia de esta banda, muy recomendable descubrir a un grupo que merecería más reconocimiento en virtud de sus composiciones, como resulta ser un buen ejemplo la canción "Immortal" que hoy dejo en el blog perteneciente al citado "The fallen idols" del pasado 2019.

Canciones para una vida - Veonity - Freedom Vikings

FREEDOM  VIKINGS

Nuevamente la tercera obra de estudio de la banda sueca Veonity en el blog, es decir, power metal de corte europeo, de composición clásica dentro del subgénero con los cliches esperables en este tipo de sonido. La mexcla temática sigue la línea anterior, aunque en esta ocasión a su gusto por el espacio unen el toque vikingo, una amalgama un tanto heterogénea a no ser que uno se fije en el concepto de "Thor" de la películas de Marvel. En general estamos ante un sonido que se afianza grandemente en el terreno del power clásico de finales del pasado siglo e inicios del presente, pero con ciertas inmersiones en terrenos progresivos, sin falta de coros y otros elementos clásicos y sin un alargamiento excesivo de los temas o las estructuras compositivas, más power que progresivo. Canciones para una vida - Cirith Ungol - Stormbringer

STORMBRINGER

Cirith Ungol es otra de esas bandas con las que aún estaba en deuda de traer al blog, y estamos hablando de uno de esos grupos míticos cuyo nombre siempre se ha manejado entre los amantes del metal clásico que iban más allá de los grandes nombres generadores de ingresos para las grandes discográficas, hablamos más bien del concepto underground que terminase trascendiendo por el innegable potencial de la banda más que por las posibilidades técnicas en lo que a producción se refiere. Hablamos igualmente de pioneros en lo suyo, de la escena estadounidense, del proto heavy metal épico, y de una historia que se aplazó demasiado tiempo y demasiado temprano, con una carrera con demasiados pocos LP's pero con más que suficiente material reseñable del que iré dejando pinceladas en este blog, como se merece la banda. De igual manera hablamos de una resurrección compositiva, siempre a tiempo, y concretamente en esta ocasión de enorme calidad, para alegria de los seguidores de la banda. Cirith Ungol se forma en 1972 y funciona en las má profundas mazmorras underground de Estados Unidos hasta el comienzo de los 80. En 1981 editan su primer LP, con una idea clara en la mente, heavy metal de caracter épico, algo que han mantenido a lo largo de su carrera, a la que pusieron un punto y final demasiado precipitado en 1992, con solo 4 LP's a sus espaldas. Este "Forever Black" del que hoy dejo un tema en el blog es su quinto LP, del presente 2020, con mejor oportunidad productiva pero con el espíritu intacto que les ha caracterizado. Canciones para una vida - Stargazery - Self Proclaimed King

SELF  PROCLAIMED  KING

Va mostrando sus secretos el tercer LP de los finlandeses "Stargazery", una banda hecha para amantes del power de corte europeo, casi casi un ejemplo en si mismo de como hacer este subgénero, con todos los cliches, con toda la calidad y la tradición de este tipo de sonido, con una impecable producción. Suele ser una banda de discos completos, no de temas suelto, sin temas de relleno, y este "Constellation" apunta de nuevo en esa dirección. Buen ejemplo es el tema que dejo hoy en el blog, "Self proclaimed king", que suena a eso, power clásico del norte, un poco si se quiere a los Hammerfall de los mejores tiempos, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Warkings - Warriors

WARRIORS

Primeros coletazos del segundo capítulo de la banda internacional "Warkings" que de esta manera confirma su apuesta por ser un proyecto duradero a pesar de poderse pensar en un principio que pudiera ser refugio temporal para reunir a músicos de renombre de otras formaciones para dar salida a material extra al de sus bandas madre. Funcionando bajo seudónimos el timbre de voz de Georg Neuhauser de "Serenity" resulta evidente descubriendose así uno de los secretos tras el misterio pero que da idea del nivel de los integrantes de "Warkings". En esta segunda obra de la banda, "Revenge" cuya salida oficial se espera para el próximo 31 de julio, parece seguirse el concepto, tanto compositivo como argumental de lo propuesto en su debut, como queda patente en este, su primer adelanto de la obra, "Warriors", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Iron Maiden - The Longest Day

THE  LONGEST  DAY

 Como siempre que uno se acerca a un mito viviente como es el caso, y sobre todo en este, de Iron Maiden, todo lo que se pueda decir ya se habrá dicho, y cada opinión en la dirección que sea se defiende de una forma vehemente. Incluyo mis opiniones en ese saco y el mio no suele ser nunca objetiva en este caso pues soy de los defensores a ultranza de esta banda. Hablando de este decimo cuarto disco de estudio del grupo británico, estamos entrando en el tramo más moderno y actual del grupo en su ya larga historia, y eso implica una tendencia natural hacia ese toque casi progresivo en muchos tramos de sus obras y sus canciones. Mucho tiempi hace que la formula compositiva de temas directos y de no mas de 4 o 5 minutos componían sus discos, de hecho muy desde el comienzo del grupo han dejado entrever esa tendencia a incluir temas más alargados y progresivos, algo que se ha ido imponiendo a medida que avanzamos en su historia. Este disco apunta mucho en esa dirección, pero eso para nada tiene por que implicar nada negativo, y no lo hace. Es una obra muy destacable este "A matter of life and death" de 2006, siempre hay unos maestros tras las siglas de Iron Maiden, y eso se nota. Si vas con el "chip" del "Number of the beast" por supuesto esto es otra cosa, pero eso ya lo sabe cualquier seguidor completo de la banda. CHOMP  CHOMP

Otro de los temas de este sexto disco, recien salido a la venta, de los escoceses "Alestorm" dueños de un estilo un tanto inclasificable, o, desde otra perspectiva, clasificable en varios subgéneros diferentes posibles, ellos se autodenominan como "True Scottish Pirate Metal", ahí es nada, con elementos power, folk, e incluso algunos guiñoa vocales death, estamos ante un grupo sobre todo versátil, como he dicho ya con anterioridad sobre ellos, sin miedo a la experimentación, que en esta ocasión nos dejan un tema más, clásico en su estilo, "Chomp Chomp", canción de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube. De lo que no hay ninguna duda es de que por lo general una obra de estos chicos no suele dejar indiferente a nadie.

Canciones para una vida - Grim Reaper - Fear No Evil

FEAR  NO  EVIL

Con este "Fear no evil" completamos el repaso a la primera etapa de la banda británica "Grim Reaper", un grupo que comenzó a principios de los 80 dentro del movimiento de la NWOBHM, y que tras una década en actvo terminaría por separarse en principio para ya en este siglo tentar a la suerte con una segunda parte de su carrera en esta ocasión bajo el nombre de "Steve Gimmett's Grim Reaper", desde 2006 en adelante. Este disco "Fear No evil" es el central, el segundo de los tres que compusieron esa primera época, editado en 1985, uno de esos años mágicos dentro del sonido del heavy metal clásico, con ya muchas escenas diferentes dando a luz a bandas que llegando o no a ser famosas si que conicidian en todos los casos en ese concepto tan puro del sonido heavy metal sin adornos. Es por lo tanto, para los amantes del heavy metal en general echar un vistazo atrás y re descubrir bandas como Grim Reaper, más hoy en día con el repunte de este tipo de grupos en lo conceptual que se ha estado produciendo estos ultimos años. Canciones para una vida - Moonville - Strange Letters

STRANGE  LETTERS

Siempre sucede, y muchas veces parece casi imposible que así siga siendo, que uno descubre bandas como salidas de la nada, con un breve paso por la escena musical, grupos de un solo disco o de un par de ellos, pero que hacen que te plantees la eterna pregunta sin respuesta clara de por que no llegaron más lejos y tuvieron una discografía más extensa. Y en uno de esos casos estamos, ante este grupo sueco de power metal llamado "Moonville" que desarrolló su actividad a comienzos de siglo y que desapareció tras su único LP "Silver Screen" de 2005 tan misteriosamente como apenas aparecieron. Estamos ante una obra que puede sorprender a más de uno, un sonido al que se le pueden poner detalles de grandes nombres, con una escuela nórdica europea innegable. 10 temas componen el album, con una sensación completa, de un alto nivel general que deja un buen sabor de boca, como por ejemplo puede ilustrar la canción "Strange Letters" de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Axel Rudi Pell - Into The Fire

INTO  THE  FIRE

Otra de las canciones que componen la nueva obra del guitarrista alemán Axel Rudi Pell, y una de las que más me han gustado del comjunto del disco es este "Into the fire", con muchos de los ingredientes atribuibles a la banda. Como siempre sucede, no por esperable el sonido de este grupo deja de ser algo bueno. En esta ocasión un poco en esa línea clasica del medio tiempo típico que no puede faltar en un disco con el sello "Axel Rudi Pell", una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Children Of Cain

CHILDREN  OF  CAIN

Nueva canción que dejo en el blog de la tercera obra de estudio del proyecto colaborativo de las mentes tras dos bandas descomunales como son "Blind Guardian" y "Iced Earth". Es una de esas ocasiones en las que la voz de Hansi no eclipsa todo llevando a su terreno Blind guardianesco cada una de las cosas que toca, es decir, el equilibrio en este grupo "Demons and Wizards" es enorme y así, la capacidad compositiva de ambos músicos sale a relucir creando un auténtico híbrido pura sangre capaz de satisfacer a amantes de ambas bandas. Canciones para una vida - Kenziner - Tears Of Destiny

TEARS  OF  DESTINY

Tiempo hacía ya que la banda finlandesa "Kenziner" no nos dejaba material nuevo, algo que por otra parte ha resultado ser una constante en este proyecto propulsado por el empuje del músico poli instrumentista Jarno Keskinen, guitarrista, bajista y teclista. El grupo comenzó su andadura en 1994, teniendo un debut más que rerseñable, "Timescape" de 1998, que tuvo una pronta continuidad en su segundo intento "The Prophecies" al año siguiente para después desaparecer durante más de una década, (hasta 2012) en que retomaron su actividad, y editando un nuevo disco "The last horizon" en 2014. Después silencio hasta que este 2020 nos revela la cuarta entrega, "Phoenix", apropiado título si es que no es destello de una sola obra de nuevo, veremos. El único nexo común en todas las obras es el polifacético músico Jarno Keskinen, y por supuesto su enorme calidad como guitarrista y compositor que una vez más queda patente en el primer adelanto de la obra cuya salida oficial se espera para el 26 de junio. FREEBORN

Con una "cabalgada guitarristica" comienza este tema, un tanto de la escuela "Running Wildesca", y por otro lado sello de la casa. Se trata de "Freeborn" otra de las canciones pertenecientes al sexto disco de estudio de los alemanes "Stormwarrior", banda que siempre se ha caracterizado por ese concepto contundente y veloz que ha sabido mantener desde sus primeros días, allá ya por el comienzo de siglo. Siempre ocurre lo mismo con este grupo, que a nivel internacional no termina de tener el reconocimiento que deberían pero que con cada obra nos dejan al menos un puñado de temas que van ganado puestos a medida que se les escucha. Este sexto disco de 2019 "Norsemen" no es una excepción, y este tema es prueba de ello, una canción de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Dynazty - Ascension

ASCENSION

De vuelta a los suecos "Dynazty" y su heavy hard power , según el momento de cada obra, siempre haciendo gala de la calidad como estandarte. Esta banda, si bien puede llegar a ser un tanto predecible en el sonido de los temas, por otra parte ha encontrado esa fórmula compositiva a partes iguales efectiva y enganchona, que te hace tararear sus temas pronto. Con algunos rasgos incluso progresivos estamos ante un grupo que ha ido alcanzando un cierto reconocimiento por méritos propios, y es que si miramos a su carrera nos damos cuenta de que van camino ya de los quince años tocando juntos, una carrera ya respetable adornada con siete discos de estudio. Hoy quiero recuperar de nuevo una de las canciones de su penúltimo disco "Firesign", de 2018, concretamente "Ascension", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Primal Fear - Along Came The Devil

ALONG  CAME  THE  DEVIL

 "Metal Commando" será el decimo tercer disco de estudio de los alemanes "Primal Fear", y que saldrá a la venta de manera oficial el próximo 24 de julio del presente 2020. Poca sorpresa siempre con este grupo que lleva ya en activo 23 años, un paso más en su carrera perpetuando su sonido ya clásico en este nuevo episodio. En palabras del propio Matt Sinner "espera que la obra sea una de sus obras más contundentes" y recalca el gran papel de todos los músicos en la obra, haciendo notar que están en uno de esos momentos dulces como banda en los que todo el mundo tiene muy claro su papel dentro del grupo. En lo sonoro, sonido 100% Primal Fear en su primer adelanto "Along came the devil", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
