Canciones para una vida - AC/DC - Let There Be Rock

LET  THERE  BE  ROCK

Volviendo hoy de nuevo a la época previa a lo que se puede considerar como Heavy metal como tal, es decir, fijandonos de nuevo en las raices de nuestro sonido, el electrizante e hiper rítmico concepto de los australianos AC/DC no deben faltar, y hoy en concreto quiero fijarme en su cuarto disco de estudio "Let there be rock", grabado en 1977, y que solo en Estados Unidos vendió más de dos millones de copias. Hablar de esta banda es hacerlo de una de las grandes bandas e influencia, grupo al que tantos músicos escucharon y después incluso imitaron, un concepto propio tan reconocible con especial. Como digo un valor seguro sobre todo en la década de los setenta desde la perspectiva de la contribución desde su visión al heavy metal como sonido amplio y global. HONOR  POWER  GLORY

Parece que el proyecto internacional (Estados Unidos - Canada) Glyph da su primer paso en formato LP a través del disco "Honor Power Glory" que ha visto ña ñuz de forma oficial a finales de este pasado mes de marzo, hablamos de miembros que figuran en bandas en activo, lo que viene a ser un proyecto paralelo, así están implicados músicos de bandas como Greyhawk, Hjelvik, Ravenous o Gatekeeper. Power metal. con un sonido hibrido entre los dos lados del charco que de entrada da buenas sensaciones para pensar en la posibilidad del asentamiento del proyecto en banda duradera, veremos. Canciones para una vida - Reckless - Heart Of Steel

HEART  OF  STEEL

La escena canadiense siempre fue una alternativa en número de bandas y calidad de las mismas a la mismisima escena estadounidense, sobre todo en la década de los ochenta y siempre teniendo en cuenta las diferencias de población. El caso es que resulta muy interesante buscar bandas desconocidas en esa cantera y particularmente la citada década fue una de las que dejo una gran cantidad de grupos en el camino. En este marco llega Reckless, que formados a finales de los 70 desarrollan su breve carrera a comienzos de los 80, con ese concepto tan del momento del hard 'n heavy, y esos temas tan característicos del momento repartidos en dos LP's de estudio, 1980 y 1984. "Heart of steel" es el segundo de los discos del grupo, por lo tanto de 1984, que resultaría ser el último antes de su separación en 1987. Canciones para una vida - Leave's Eyes - Hammer Of The Gods

HAMMER  OF  THE  GODS

Los alemanes Leave's eyes son otra de esas bandas que van alcanzando hitos, ya más de dos décadas de actividad, y su discografia va en aumento alcanzando ya la considerable cantidad de 7 EP's y 10 LP's si incluimos "Miths of fate" que ha visto la luz el pasado mes de marzo. La banda tuvo que superar la salida de la fundadora y reconocible vocalista Liv Kristine en 2016 pero su sustituta Elina Siirala ha sabido hacerse con los mandos vocales a la perfección y ya desde 2016 ha afrontado su labor a lo largo de cuatro LP's. HAMMER  TO  THE  HEART

Vamos con otro rescate del pasado, otra banda de breve duración y producción musical, los británicos "Ladyluck" con su propuesta hard' n heavy, un poco tardía quizá para lo que propusieron en su único material de estudio en formato EP "hammer to the heart", ya que se edita en 1989, cuando todo estaba ya cambiando hacia uno u otro lado, y cuando el heavy metal como tal comenzaba una época sombría evolucionando a otros escenarios. Nada novedoso, nada extraordinario, solo un ejemplo más de que en la oscuridad del anonimato se pueden siempre encontrar buenas propuestas, sabores clásicos sobre todo en la inmensa escena ochentera. Los suecos Tungsten están de vuelta en este 2024, primero con su single Walborg, recién publicado el pasado 5 de abril, y más adelante, aún sin trascender la fecha pero en este 2024, su cuarto LP de estudio "The grand Inferno" al que pertenecera esta canción, "Walborg". Sin ninguna duda la banda se ha asentado como grupo en lo que podía haberse tomado al inicio como un proyecto padre - hijos, pero el nuevo single deja claro que de momento no se les terminan las ideas ni la ilusión y que siguen en crecimiento con su power heavy metal. Canciones para una vida - Eregion - Earendil Star

EARENDIL  STAR

Hace tiempo que quiero traer al blog algo de esta banda italiana, Eregion, y siempre, con esa sensación que me daban un tanto "amateur" a pesar del potencial que asomaba terminaba por no animarme. Este 2024, la banda formada en 2012, ya con un camino a sus espaldas, publicarán su tercer LP de estudio, "Non Omnis Moriar", cuya salida oficial se espera para finales de mayo. Se trata de un power metal con algunos tintes sinfónicos, a la manera italiana, con ese aire épico más basado en arreglos que en lo meramente guitarrístico, sin embargo no dejan en absoluto de lado las melodías de guitarra, una banda correcta que va en ascenso, y este 2024 parece ser el del paso al frente respecto a lo anterior, al menos este adelanto, "Earendil Star" me ha dado esa sensación, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

En estos días en que imagino que a nivel mundial a corrido en los noticiarios la información de que los estadounidenses Kiss han vendido todos los derechos de su nombre e imagen por unos cuantos cientos de millones de dolares, es un buen momento para repasar algo de su discografía y así recordar el por que alguna entidad o empresa ve beneficios potenciales en semejante inversión. Lo que está claro y de lo que no cabe duda alguna es de la posibilidad de recuperar con creces esa inversión, Kiss son una máquina de hacer dinero, ya más allá de lo estrictamente musical, quien no conoce la marca Kiss. Atendiendo a lo musical, el repaso a su discografía deja muestras evidentes de su importancia, desde lo meramente compositivo a lo influyente para bandas posteriores. hoy quiero recuperar su cuarto LP de estudio, "Destroyer", con el que el grupo alcanza en 1976, su año de publicación el disco de platino por primera vez en su carrera, una obra que se abría a terrenos menos crudos, más vendibles y pegajosos, más cliche Kiss en si mismo. A  BRAVE  NEW  HOPE

La fecha escogida por la banda italiana Rhapsody Of Fire para publicar de forma oficial su décimo quinto album de estudio "Challenge the wind" (31 de mayo) se va acercando, y van desgranandose los temas de adelanto que dan muestra de lo que será su nueva obra. Para mi gusto, ya lo he dicho muchas veces, el grupo ha ido ganando mucho desde la salida de Turilli de la banda, hay un claro retorno hacia su obra inicial, con menos sinfonía (que la sigue habiendo) y más sonido metálico, lo que yo agradezco. THE  ORDER  OF  FEAR

Ya tenemos a la vista la nueva obra de estudio de los alemanes Orden Ogan, una de esas bandas a las que no me puedo resistir. "The order of fear" será ya el noveno album de estudio de la banda del que se espera su salida oficial el proximo mes de julio, y en estos días nos dejan el segundo adelanto de la citada obra, que es el tema que la dará nombre, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube. Ya dejaron el primer single "My worst enemy" hace unas semanas y de ella dijeron que era una balada poderosa, en palabras de la propia banda estamos ante uno de los discos más directos y metálicos de su discografía, veremos.

Canciones para una vida - Kiuas - The Pilgrimage

THE  PILGRIMAGE

Los finlandeses Kiuas son una de esas bandas a las que su nombre se le relacionó siempre con la calidad, a pesar de que su existencia como banda tenía una duración de poco más de una década con solo cuatro LP's de estudio, pero su concepto compositivo siempre les sirvió de aval. Su periodo de actividad se extendió entre 2000 y 2011, año en que gran parte de la banda se marcha y tras editar un recopilatorio de grandes éxitos todo hacía creer que la historia de la banda había llegado a su fin definitivo, sin embargo en este 2024 la reactivación compositiva del grupo con una nueva formación ha dado fruto en formato EP, "Samooja: Pyhiinvaellus", donde la banda presenta cuatro temas nuevos líricamente basadas en la saga épica "Samooja", y del que dejo hoy en el blog el tema "The Pilgrimage" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

IN  YOUR  PARK

La banda alemana Scorpions, para estas alturas, mitad de los 70, era ya una banda experimentada, pionera, rompedora, influyente y que había ya saboreado las mieles del éxito. Estamos hablando con este "Virgin Killer" de 1976 del cuarto LP de estudio de la banda, una obra que se encuentra en el momento de suceder al exitoso "In Trance" del año anterior, y que siendo la predecesora del quinto, y aclamado "Taken by force" hace que este "Virgin Killer" sea quizá más conocido y reconocido por temas extraordinarios a lo musical como la portada que por lo importante, que lo tiene y mucho, como es lo compositivo. De este disco quiero dejar en el blog hoy el tema "In your park", haciendo así referencia a uno de los apartados que más ha afamado al estilo de la banda, los medios tiempos y las baladas, sello inconfundible de la banda, y tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Gator - Teenage Love

TEENAGE  LOVE

La escena tempranera germana tenía también joyitas ocultas que mostrar, pero poco más allá de Accept o Scorpions trascendía a terrenos internacionales en los incios de la década de los ochenta, pero muchos, como estos Gator, lo intentanban, aunque sea a través de una única obra, como tantos y tantos condenados al anonimato forzoso a pesar de los potenciales evidentes. En muchas ocasiones se quedó todo en una ilusión casi adolescente, que no llegó a más, pero la pasión, la ilusión deberían tener mayor recompensa en no pocas ocasiones. Gatro, formados en la parte final de los setenta y desaparecidos en la inicial de los ochenta, único fruto de su aventura el disco homónimo de 1982, del que dejo hoy en el blog la canción "Teenage Love" como muestra de su innegable potencial, a medio gas, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Una de las bandas de heavy power españolas mas reconocidas internacionalmente, más asentadas e influyentes, editan en este 2024 "Sanctuary of death" el que será su séptimo LP de estudio en una carrera que lleva en activo desde 1999. Han dejado claro su camino compositivo desde el comienzo y que no piensan salirse de él, siempre fieles a su propuesta en estos días nos dejan su primer adelanto, " Old king's Visions " en su séptima parte ya, todo un clásico de la banda, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Sanctuary - Future Tense

FUTURE  TENSE

Sanctuary es una banda estadounidense de esas que se ha movido por diversos subgéneros en su carrera, una vez más y como tantos casos, partida en dos. La primera parte de su carrera se da entre los años 1983 y 1992, luego, sin ser ya la misma banda por las ausencias, por encima de todas la de Warrel Dane, quien tras su salida de Sanctuary formaría Nevermore en la que militaría hasta su fallecimiento en 2017. El caso es que desde 2010 en adelante Sanctuary se reactiva editando un nuevo LP en 2014. En total su discografía 3 LP's y un EP, todos menos el tercer citado disco de su época inicial. Hablamos de heavy metal, groove, thrash y progresivo, saltando de uno a otro género según conveniencia, siempre con la calidad y el buen gusto compositivo de su lado, una banda a la que asomarse. De su segundo LP "Into the mirror black" de 1990, quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, concretamente "Future Tense" que abre la obra, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
