Sculforge - The Journey - Canciones Para Una Vida

THE  JOURNEY

Otra banda nueva hoy en el blog, se trata de los alemanes Sculforge, grupo formado en 2020 que se dedican compositivamente a un sonido heavy metal quizá con un poco más de velocidad, también se encamina su sonido más a un heavy power que a un heavy speed metal, con algunos destellos electrónicos de la escuela Dragonforce. En 2021 debutan con un EP "Lost in the warp", que tendría continuidad en 2023 con su primer LP " Intergalactic Battle Tunes ... Stories from behind the dark side of the moon to the milky way and beyond", ahí es nada, y en este 2025 nos dejaran su segundo LP, para el 20 de marzo, "Cosmic Crusade Chronicles" del que han dejado su primer adelanto "The journey", para nada algo nuevo o rompedor, sin embargo habrá que seguirles la pista para ver su posible evolución. Bronze - Tale Of Revenge - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

TALE  OF  REVENGE

Vamos con otra banda desconocida que va poco a poco dando sus primeros pasos, en esta ocasión una colaboración internacional entre España y Suecia, se trata de Bronze, un proyecto de heavy metal de mimbres clásicos, con voz femenina y el empuje de uno de esos músicos que parecen apuntarse a todo proyecto que cae a su lado, el guitarrista sueco Cederick Forsberg, cuyo curriculum de bandas y proyectos es larguísimo y de los cuales muchos ya han sido mencionados en este blog, un músico de esos que se hacen notar que dejan su sello personal en aquello que tocan. Bronze como tal se forma en 2023 aunque de las cenizas de la banda Kramp, que llevaba desde 2010 en activo. En ese citado 2023 junto con el cambio de nombre se apunta al proyecto Cederick, y en 2024 el grupo lanza su debut como Bronze, "In chains and shadows", del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, concretamente "Tale of revenge" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

PEG  LEG  SILLY  BILLY

Hablemos de una artista de esas que se han sabido hacer a si mismas, haciendose un hueco poco a poco en la escena colaborando con artistas y formando parte de alguna banda para encontrar su propio camino desde el principio sobre todo con auto promoción, y claro, buen hacer. En 2024 edita su LP "Tavern" en el que muestra una serie de colaboraciones de primer nivel dentro de nuestro sonido, por ejemplo Marco Hietala o Christopher Bowes, tema este precisamente "Peg Leg Silly Billy" del que quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Nightsteel - Eternal Fight - Canciones para una vida

 

ETERNAL  FIGHT

Otra banda más griega que comienza su andadura a través de su primer LP en este 2025, se trata de Nightsteel con su obra homónima que se espera que salga a la venta de forma oficial en el próximo mes de abril (día 11), una obra en clave de sonido clásico, con ese trasfondo heavy con melodías y algunas colaboraciones. De momento dos son los adelantos de la obra que han dejado ver, uno de ellos este "Eternal Fight", del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Everlore - Warrior Hearts

WARRIOR  HEARTS

Everlore es una banda finlandesa de power metal que sigue sin duda las tradiciones finesas del power metal "Stratovarico", algo que se aprecia bastante en la forma de cantar, más que en la voz en si misma, pero para hacernos una idea esa estructura compositiva puede haberse mirado en la de Stratovarius perfectamente. Formados en 2013, la banda lleva ya demasiado tiempo activos para solo dos LP's de estudio, pero este 2025 ha sido testigo de la publicación de su segundo album lo que indica que el proyecto musical sigue adelante y más vivo que nunca a juzgar por el par de escalones que han elevado su propuesta respecto a su debut de 2020. "Hope and Turmoil" salía hoy 1 de marzo a la venta de forma oficial y quiero dejar hoy en el blog su tema inicial "Warrior Hearts" como declaración de intenciones de por donde quieren encaminar su sonido.

Canciones para una vida - Iron Maiden - Sign Of The Cross

SIGN  OF  THE  CROSS

Hoy traigo al blog uno de esos discos de los que todo el mundo tiene una opinión, es una obra que claramente separa épocas en una banda y si añadimos que esa banda es la banda entra las bandas metálicas, es decir Iron Maiden, pues claro, siempre todo el mundo ha opinado y lo hará con mayor o menor justicia. Yo solo quiero hoy intentar abordar la obra desde un punto de vista lo más aséptico posible, constatando hechos más que opiniones. El primer hecho innegable es la salida de Dickinson en 1993 de Maiden y la llegada de un nuevo vocalista a la banda para esta obra, Blaze Bayley, como mínimo un tío valiente para meterse en esos zapatos. Otro hecho es la época, hablamos de ese momento de los noventa en que todo seguía cambiando en la escena metálica, sobre todo si enfocabas tu sonido al sonido heavy metal clásico. Otra cuestión era crear un sucesor para "Fear of the dark", y mostrar la senda que la banda tomaría en adelante ya que cada vez más criticados por los seguidores de siempre el grupo sentía seguramente esa presión. Además las composiciones se veían afectadas por el estado de ánimo de Steve Harris que atravesaba por un divorcio. Todo ello puede enmarcar un poco tanto a la obra en sí, desde la composición más oscura, hasta estéticamente la portada sin un Eddie clásico digamos, un Eddie de Derek Riggs. Pero lo que es innegable, y en este punto estamos entrando en lo opinable, es que la obra tiene momentos muy destacables, sin ir más lejos el tema que la abre, "Sign of the cross", y del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Dragonrider - Ride The Dragon

RIDE  THE  DRAGON

Otra banda desconocida que aún está en los primeros pasos compositivos de su carrera a pesar de que los germanos Dragonrider provengan de las cenizas de otras bandas y que lleven bajo esa denominación ya desde 2007, pero que solo un LP adorne su discografía, al que unir dos EP's (2009 y 2024). Hablamos de un power heavy metal de corte europeo y aspiraciones épicas con marcos fantásticos. Canciones para una vida - Ebonheart - Face Our Fear

 

 

FACE  OUR  FEAR

Vamos con el primer LP de los noruegos "Ebonheart", una banda que lejos de lo que se pueda pensar no es tecnicamente nueva, es más un proyecto rescatado formado a comienzos de los 2000 y que en la década de los 20 actuales, se dedicó a base de singles, a poner su nombre en el mapa, algo que ahora, en este 2025 tiene continuidad a través del citado debut en formato LP, "Face our fear". Se trata de un power metal con cierto toque progresivo, si bien por el origen y la tradición de las bandas noruegas no encontramos un sonido oscuro, es más de la escuela sueca si se quiere. Hoy dejo en el blog el tema que da nombre a la obra, "Face our fear" que vió la luz de forma oficial el pasado enero.

Canciones para una vida - Smoulder - The Sword Woman

THE  SWORD  WOMAN

Vamos de nuevo con un poco del llamado epic metal de la escuela americana, que no deja de ser una suerte de heavy metal de corte clásico, desde la perspectiva compositiva de la escuela estadounidense, flirteando con el doom, esos ritmos cadenciosos y espesos, con ese trasfondo oscuro, siempre con espada y brujería como hilo argumental, salsa toda esta en la que la banda esradounidense "Smoulder" se desempeña a la perfección. Formados en 2013, tras su periodo en las catacumbas de las escenas locales, graban su primer LP en 2019, este "Times of obscene evil and wild daring" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog su tema "The sword woman" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

EXECUTIONER

Hacía tiempo que le había perdido la pista a esta banda griega, a los que descubrí con su segundo LP "rise of the dragonrider" de 2012. Pertenecientes a esa enorme hornada de grupos de la escena griega que gustaban del heavy metal de corte épico, este grupo formado en 2004 verá en este 2025 como se publica su cuarto LP de estudio "The great awakening", concretamente el 18 de abril, y de él han dejado ya un adelanto del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube, lleva por título "Executioner", y va muy en la onda de su sonido tradicional.

Canciones para una vida - Trick Or Treat - Ghosted

 

GHOSTED

Más allá del impacto real que en una banda pueda tener en su sonido, el hecho de buscar un rol concreto, de buscar un marco argumental a largo plazo para una carrera musical creo que le facilita un poco las cosas al grupo dotándolo de un punto extra de personalidad y reconocimiento, los italianos "trick or treat" se han decantado por los Dibujos animados para encontrar esa inspiración, y ya se puede hablar de una carrera larga si tenemos en cuenta que comenzaron allá por 2002 con lo que por otro lado no deja de ser un power de corte europeo de buena factura  y producción. En este 2025 publicarán su nuevo album de estudio, "Ghosted", que verá la luz en el mes de abril y que supondrá su octavo LP, un disco del que dejan ya algún adelanto, como el tema que dará nombre a la obra y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - The Storyteller - Break The Bounds

 

 BREAK  THE  BOUNDS

The Storyteller es ese tipo de bandas que deberían, teniendo en cuenta su caildad, haber tenido una carrera mucho más importante, mucho más llena, menos irregular, más constante porque todo lo que hace falta para hacer algo grande parece tenerlo el grupo con creces. Llevan ya una década de silencio desde su último LP de estudio, "Sacred Fire" de 2015, solo un single en 2023 rompió ese silencio, pero este 2025 será testigo de la publicación de su séptimo album "Final stand" que espero con ganas, hasta ese momento recupero hoy otra canción más de su penútimo album "Dark Legacy" de 2013, concretamente la canción "Break The bounds" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Mentalist - March On Legionnaire

MARCH  ON  LEGIONNAIRE

Tras un inicio de carrera casi fulgurante en lo referente al ritmo de grabación de obras, (tres discos en tres años, 20, 21 y 22), y claro está, respondiendo a un nivel alto de calidad, la banda germano sueca Mentalist, ha guardado silencio durante tres años desde su tercer LP para editar el cuarto "Earthbreaker", que verá la luz en este 2025, más concretamente el 11 de abril. Estamos ante un power, heavy metal melódico, con músicos experimentados de entre los que quizá pueda destacar Thomen Stauch, ex bateria de Blind Guardian. El primero de los adelantos de la nueva obra lleva por título "March On Legionnaire" y de él dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Stratovarius - Dreamspace

 

DREAMSPACE

"Dreamspace", de 1994, fue el tercer LP de estudio de los finlandeses Stratovarius y resulta importante por varios motivos para la banda, se trata de la última obra en la que Tolkki se encargaría de las voces, y es seguramente el primer disco que muestra con claridad hacia donde se encaminaría la carrera de la banda en el futuro, se antoja pues una pieza importante en su discografía por ello, y además de ser el punto de partida en lo que a éxito de masas se refiere del grupo, significaría poner en el mapa a Finlandia dentro del power, algo que luego ya sabemos todos como continuaría. Del disco se pueden destacar muchos momentos, uno de ellos, de los más evidentes es la canción que dio nombre a la obra y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Menudo debut de los brasileños Angra, un disco monumental en su conjunto, con momentos que son simplemente ya fundamentales en la historia sobre todo del power metal, y es que la obra llegaba en ese momento de cambio donde el power explotaría a nivel no solo europeo sino planetario, y los que encabezaron ese movimiento en el continente americano casi se podría decir que fueron Angra. Aquí, en este "Angels Cry" de 1993 nos encontramos con la versión más puramente power de la banda que después iría añadiendo y enriqueciendo su repertorio con nuevos elementos y enfoques más progresivos, enromes temas conforman esta obra de la que dejo hoy en el blog otro ejemplo, "Evil warning" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
