Canciones para una vida - Wolfheart - Grave

 

GRAVE

La maquinaria compositiva de los finlandeses Wolfheart no se detiene y desde 2013 en que se formaron han sido muy constantes a la hora de editar material de estudio llegando ya a siete LP's de estudio si contamos su nueva obra "Draconian Darkness" que verá la luz en este 2024, concretamente para primeros de septiembre. El grupo parece continuar ese concepto personal de death metal melódico que combina la potencia y la melodía, esa dualidad de luz y oscuridad antagónicos pero perfectamente complementarios. De la nueva obra dejo en el blog su adelanto "Grave", un tema destacado por la banda como uno de los que serán fijos para sus presentaciones en vivo, y el primero de los temas que compuso la banda y que les sirvió para marcar la senda compositiva de lo que sería la nueva obra. Canciones para una vida - Riot City - Eye Of The Jaguar

EYE  OF  THE  JAGUAR

Parece que la escena canadiense es muy propicia para este tipo de bandas, aquellas que basan su sonido en la vieja escuela y en la vertiente speedica del heavy metal, a juzgar por el gran número de ellas con esa procedencia y esa inclinación compositiva, en esta ocasión la banda Riot City, formada en 2011 pero que empieza a dar señales de vida compositiva en 2019 a través de su primer LP "Burn the night". En 2022 dieron continuidad a su carrera desde la perspectiva de editar música a través de su continuación en formato LP "Electric Elite". Así pues nada nuevo a la vista, pero si un buen guiño al sonido clásico, más leña al fuego de la resurrección del heavy metal de toda la vida en pleno siglo XXI, de su segundo LP quiero dejar en el blog hoy el tema que lo abre, "Eye of the jaguar" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Narnia - Angels Are Crying

ANGELS  ARE  CRYING

Que gran banda estos suecos, Narnia, veterano ya grupo que lleva desde 1996 perseverando en su heavy metal melódico - power metal de inspiración cristiana, y como buenos hijos de su escena natal poseedores de una limpieza productiva absoluta, salvo en el periodo 2010 - 2014 en que dejaron de estar en activo, han ido sacando material de forma continuada aunque desde 2014 con una reformación en lo que a músicos se refiere manteniendo el núcleo importante y el sonido mismo de la banda. 2023 fue el testigo de su última obra publicada que hacía el número nueve en sus LP's. Hoy quiero recuperar una de las canciones de su tercera obra de estudio, "Desert land" de 2001, en concreto "Angels are crying" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

SONS  OF  THE  SEA

Los españoles Orion Child con su power metal de corte europeo van dando pasos adelante en su carrera y llevan ya cuatro LP's de estudio desde que comenzasen su andadura musical, la verdad es que se antojan pocos teniendo en cuenta que llevan tocando desde 2003 si bien su primer material de estudio no vio la luz hasta 2010, sea como sea la banda ha demostrado con creces su calidad y en este 2024 hemos tenido muestra de su continuidad con su cuarto trabajo, sin embargo quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de los temas que componen su tercera obra, "Continuum Fracture" de 2019, en concreto "Sons of the sea" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

ARCHAID  FLAME

8 son los LP's de estudio que la banda finlandesa Before The Dawn lleva a cuestas en su discografía, a los que deben sumarse otros cuatro EP's para completarla hasta la fecha de esta reseña. Hablamos de un death melódico de altísima calidad, siempre fieles a su propio criterio y su experiencia les hace uno de los pioneros en ese nicho sonoro, ya que llevan desde 1999 en activo. RUSTELOOS

Un poquito de folk metal de tintes épicos encarnado en los holandeses Vanaheim, un grupo de reciente formación que parece seguir la tradición de bandas europeas y holandesas del género. Formados en 2015 2022 fue testigo de su debut en formato LP ya que hasta la fecha solo habían editado dos obras en formato EP, (2017 y 2020), así pues una banda en pleno crecimiento y expansión. Como digo el sonido resultará familiar para todos los que gusten de los Heidevolk y compañía, y de su primer LP quiero dejar en el blog su canción "Rusteloos", un tema instrumental del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Frosttide - Warrior

 

WARRIOR

El otro día me puse a mirar como iba la carrera de los finalndeses Frosttide, ya que hacía bastante que no tenía noticias de ellos y la verdad es que me disgustó saber que han dejado de momento su continuidad en el aire, si bien es cierto que no han dado aún por terminado este proyecto en este tipo de casos las cosas no suelen terminar bien en lo que a continuidad se refiere, espero equivocarme ya que su sonido siempre ha sido muy de mi agrado, desde que en 2009 comenzasen, solo dos LP's de estudio dan forma a su carrera, (2013 y 2015), a los que sumar tres EP's más (2010, 2012 y 2018),siempre con su death melódico de intenciones folk, muy compatible con los grupos del tipo Ensiferum, Brymir, etc. Quiero hoy dejar en el blog el último material que nos han dejado, el single de 2022 "Warrior" que no viene sino a demostrar que por poder podrían seguir con todas las garantías ofreciendo música de calidad total, los tiros irán por otra parte imagino, dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de este "Warrior".

Canciones para una vida - Anubis - Priestress Of Dark Paradise

PRIESTRESS  OF  DARK  PARADISE

Los estadounidenses Anubis son una banda formada en 2018 que han encontrado su sonido en un heavy metal con destellos thrash, siempre en una onda americana de sonido. Comienza su publicación de material en 2019 con varias obras en formato EP y un nutrido grupo de singles que le dieron impulso para editar su primer LP (y único a fecha de esta reseña) "Dark Paradise" en este 2024 a finales del mes de febrero. Canciones para una vida - Majestica - A New Beginning

 

A  NEW  BEGINNING

Los suecos Majestica, o lo que es lo mismo decir Reinxeed ya que se trata realmente de un cambio de nombre incluso más que de rumbo, está de vuelta en este 2024 con un single, "A new beginning" que veremos si termina siendo un adelanto de una hipotética nueva obra de la que aún no tengo noticia. El sendero compositivo en este nuevo material es sin duda el mismo que venía siendo, power metal de caracter melódico y un tanto sinfónico. La verdad es que hacía falta una reactivación de la banda que ya camino llevaba de un lustro sin editar un LP como tal, (y de momento contando), pero al menos editan algo más que desde 2021 no hacían. NATIONS  ON  FIRE

Lo de montar una superbanda con grandes nombres individualmente unidos para un proyecto particular es algo tan viejo como la música, y en los 80 se dieron varios ejemplos, uno de ellos desde la escuela americana fue M.A.R.S. (Macalpine, Aldridge, Rob Rock y Rudy Sarzo), nombres todos ellos contrastados, reconocidos ya en 1986 en que se forma este proyecto, que se juntan para realizar ese heavy metal contundente, resultón y de calidad como no podía ser de otra manera. Dejarían un solo trabajo en formato LP con el título "Project Driver, como digo de 1986, del que dejo hoy el tema "Nations On Fire"

MOSQUETEROS

Parece que los germanos Dartagnan han cogido una imparable velocidad de crucero y en este 2024 han editado su sexto disco de estudio "Herzblut", desde su formación en 2015, y lo que es más decisivo e importante, la aparente facilidad para editar ese sonido enganchón, positivo, un sonido que da buena sensación escuchar. Para sus obras cuentan también con colaboraciones. no solo germanas, y además se atreven con letras no solo en su alemán nativo sino además del ingles el francés o el español como en el caso del tema de su última obra que dejo en el blog, "Mosqueteros", de melodía absolutamente adictiva, y donde cuentan con la colaboración del cantante de Mago de Oz, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Overdrive - You (Give Me To Hell)

YOU  (GIVE  ME  TO  HELL)

Overdrive, uno de los grupos pioneros del heavy metal en su escena, nada menos que la sueca, un grupo de los que han tenido varias épocas de actividad, la primera y más icónica, desde 1980 a 1985, después puntualmente en 1993 y 1997, para definitivamente desde 2003 volver ininterrumpidamente hasta la actualidad. En total 5 LP's de estudio más dos EP's conforman su discografía. Hoy vuelvo a sus mismos comienzos, en ese primer periodo de acrividad con sus dos primeros albumes y su primer EP que fue su debut compositivo, "Reflexions", de 1981, y del que dejo en el blog uno de sus temas, "You (give me to hell)", al inicio mismo en una clave algo más hard 'n heavy, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Nuevo adelanto del proyecto internacional "All for metal" que se consolida con la salida a finales de agosto de lo que será su segundo disco "Gods of metal". Canciones para una vida - Shylagoghnar - The Sea

THE  SEA

Desde Holanda llega la banda Shylmagoghnar, un proyecto iniciado por dos músicos, Nimblkorg y Skirge, proyecto culminado en solitario por el primero de ellos en el tercer LP en 2023, "Convergence" que culmina su primera trilogía, tras la salida del segundo del mundo de la música. Hablamos de un sonido dificil de encasillar en una sola etiqueta, aquí se pueden encontrar rasgos musicales del black metal y el death melódicos, rasgos progresivos con grandes interludios instrumentales. Todo un viaje musical para escuchar con la merecida atención para apreciar los detalles melódicos y los cambios. Canciones para una vida - Earacle - Master And Servant

MASTER  AND  SERVANT

Vamos con otra banda más de las que apenas han dejado una leve muestra de su valía, son Earacle, desde Alemania, un grupo ya separado que ha permanecido en activo entre 2011 y 2022 dejando solo un LP de estudio como fruto de su carrera, "Rise of colossus" de 2019. Se trata de una banda que hace un sonido particular, a medio camino de varias cosas e incluso escuelas, así encontramos elementos entre el power, el heavy metal y el thrash en ocasiones o en rasgos. El grupo realmente termina por separarse tras la salida del grupo del guitarrista Patrick Sperling quien ficharía por Orden Ogan en 2020.
