Canciones para una vida - Trowsholm - Bury Me By The Sea

BURY  ME  BY  THE  SEA 

A finales del pasado 2023 vio la luz el primer LP de estudio de los escoceses Trowsholm, una muestra del influjo que sus compatriotas Alestorm han ejercido ya sobre muchas bandas, algunas de ellas también escocesas. Se trata de una banda de una banda de reciente formación, que comienza a editar material de estudio en formato EP en 2022, seguido de una buena colección de singles en 2023, que culminaría con el citado debut en ese formato a mitad de diciembre y titulado como la banda "Trowsholm". Así pues folk metal, con un ambiente corsariete, algo festivo y proalcoholico del que dejo hoy muestra en el blog de su debut en formato LP a través del tema "Bury me by the sea" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

FOLLOW  THE  TEARS

Heaven and Hell fue una colaboración entre Iommi y Dio, que solo con la formación que presenta, aparte de los dos citados, Vinnie Appice a la batería y Geezer Butler al bajo, y el título que dieron a la banda, el hecho de pensar en Black Sabbath es no solo inevitable sino además obligado, después, al escucharlo te das cuenta de que no es que esté ni lejos ni cerca, simplemente es una evolución, y algo por el peso histórico del sonido al que nos referimos merece la pena escuchar si es que no lo has hecho. Así pues heavy metal con galones, por el peso específico de los músicos, con un cierto aire oscuro. El grupo se forma en 2006, y dio de si hasta 2010 cuando el mito Ronnie James Dio muere, dejando solo el fruto de un LP de estudio en 2009 "The devil you know" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, "Follow The Tears", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  SPARK

Finalmente esa serie de singles que han ido adelantando los suecos van a plasmarse en un nuevo LP de estudio para finales de verano, la segunda parte de "Megalomanium" de 2023, será "Megalomaniium" y verá la luz exactamente el 20 de septiembre, siendo ya su décimo LP de estudio. Canciones para una vida - Chalice - Take It Away

TAKE  IT  AWAY

Chalice, banda estadounidense ochentera, otro grupo más que no pudo, o no quiso, o no le dejaron, vete a saber, ir más allá de un single, un par de temas como muestra de un potencial que solo se quedaría en eso, una vez más una lástima, hablamos de los mismos inicios de la citada década, y en 1981 editan ese par de temas, en ese sonido a medio camino del heavy y el hard rock, con el citado potencial completamente evidente, que mejor manera para saberlo que escucharlo, dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de este "Take it away", otro grupo desaparecido apenas después de nacer, otro de tantos.

Canciones para una vida - Judas Priest - Beyond The Realms Of Death

BEYOND  THE  REALMS  OF  DEATH

Un motivo más para haber incluido una etiqueta extra en el blog con las bandas anteriores a 1979, y es que para entender globalmente este bendito sonido no podemos prescindir de ninguna parte de su historia, particularmente de sus comienzos, del momento en que se crea como tal. Y de esa época, si hay una banda con mayúsculas en cuanto a sonido y ya trayectoria esos fueron Judas Priest, de entre sus discos setenteros hoy quiero rescatar el cuarto, "Stained Class", de 1978, una obra de nuevo antológica, importante para el propio grupo por detalles compositivos y estéticos, como el estreno de su logo definitivo, e igualmente por lo influyente en el futuro de bandas y sonido mismo heavy metal. De los muchos temas que se pueden destacar hoy quiero hacerlo con la fantástica "Beyond the realms of death", en clave de balada - medio tiempo - o balada energética por momentos, temazo tremendo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

LADY  BEAST

Vamos con otra banda más que apunta al sonido clásico heavy metal, el de la vieja escuela, para desarrollar su carrera, son los estadounidenses Lady Beast, formados en 2009, han editado hasta el momento cuatro LP's de estudio más dos EP's, lo que les da ya una cierta consistencia como banda. se trata de un grupo que tiene como cabeza visible a una cantante, Deborah Levine, quien canta de una forma absolutamente heavy, lejos de las tesituras tanto operísticas como demasiado modernas, algo en ambos casos bueno personalmente. Su primera obra de título igual a la banda, "Lady Beast" data de 2012 y de ella quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, y que mejor que el que da nombre a la obra y a la banda, "Lady Beast", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

MACHINE

Viral es una banda sueca, otra banda incipiente, más que nada en lo que se refiere a su creación de obras, ya que en activo llevan ya desde 2012 aunque solo un LP de estudio en 2021, es toda su discografía a fecha de esta reseña. Se trata de un heavy metal de sabor clásico, crudete, un tanto alejado de lo que podría esperarse de este siglo y esa escena, sin embargo y que no se me entienda mal, ese sabor de autenticidad, de clásico es para muchos un valor extra, yo incluido, un grupo más, de momento sin apoyo discográfico que parece fiel a lo que les gusta lo que puede dificultarles explotar a nivel internacional. Canciones para una vida - Valhalore - Horizon

HORIZON 

Como es costumbre el preludio de un nuevo album de estudio suele ir precedido por una serie de singles, y en esas estamos con los australianos Valhalore, banda que practica un heavy power melodeath folk epic y hasta symphonic metal, un amplio rango de influencias que les va llevando ya desde 2013 en un viaje que sin terminar de explotar a nivel internacional si que es siempre prometedor y cada vez más. Han editado un solo LP de estudio en 2017 acompañado por dos EP's en 2015 y 2018, fecha esta última desde la que solo han editado singles, el último de los cuales ha sido editado este mes de junio, "Horizon" y perece que formará parte de su próximo LP "Beyond the stars" del que aún desconozco más detalles, como digo sonido multisubgénero, fácil de asimilar para todos los públicos y ciertamente enganchón también a través de otro de sus rasgos distintivos, los coros épicos, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Magnum - Blue Tango

BLUE  TANGO

Al final lo que parecía un secreto a voces terminó por confirmarse, la parada definitiva de la banda Magnum tras la muerte del guitarrista y pribcipal compositor y cerebro tras ella, Tony Clarkin. Es sin duda una gran pena para quienes hemos amado su sonido a lo largo de los años, y creo que es una de esas bandas que solo alcanzarán su justicia en lo que a reconocimiento se refiere a partir de ahora cuando se vayan mitificando. La importancia del grupo es innegable, su legado enorme a través de sus 24 LP's de estudio y sus cinco décadas en activo, (desde 1972) en un hard rock - hard n' heavy polivalente, rico, variado y siempre enganchón, siempre adornado con la voz reconocible de Bob Catley, más que una banda un familia y parte de nuestra historia para muchos de nosotros, ley de vida, pero aún reciente, casi novedosa todavía su última obra publicada en este 2024, "Here comes the rain" que Tony Clarkin no pudo llegar a ver publicada, una demostración de que además compositivamente hablando al grupo aún le quedaba mucho por ofrecer, sino escucha este "Blue Tango" del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Es evidente el poder de convocatoria que la banda finlandesa Beast in black he llegado a tener, un grupo que desde que nació lo hizo con sus miras en la cumbre y en lo suyo va camino de permanecer mucho tiempo ahí. BLOOD  ON  MY  STEEL 

Ya en muchas ocasiones me he referido en el blog al grandísimo momento que atraviesa la escena griega, con multitud de bandas de todo tipo y de primer nivel, pero eso es algo que no es así por casualidad, llevan mucho tiempo por allí haciendo las cosas bien y cuando así se hace se terminan por recoger los frutos, de esa manera, al igual que sucede en la mayor parte de los países nórdicos, en Grecia se va cogiendo una inercia que hace que muchas bandas jóvenes vean posible hacer una carrera internacional, y eso anima también a bandas veteranas que no encontraron su momento a tener una segunda juventud y una carrera al final, caso de estos "Blind Justice", que estuvieron en activo entre la parte final de los 80 y el comienzo de los 90, funcionando solo con demos, y desde 2012 reanudan su actividad para finalmente editar su debut en 2016 en formato LP, para seguir en 2022 con su EP "Asgardian Steel" del que hoy quiero dejar uno de sus temas, "Blood on my steel", heavy power metal un tanto true Manowaristico del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

MIDVINTER

Otra banda más cuya carrera va poco a poco llenandose de obras, haciendo de su estilo algo completamente reconocible, asentandose con cada trabajo y llegando a un estatus respetado. Son los suecos Ereb Altor, black viking epic doom metal, por centrar su sonido, siempre con ese aire melancólico y la innegable influencia de Bathory. Parece que la banda argentina Triddana va de nuevo dando muestras de vida compositiva a través de un single de adelanto de lo que será su nuevo album de estudio (el que sería el quinto), del que no se sabe aún la fecha exacta de publicación pero si su título, "Breaking from the fold". El título del adelanto "Champion of the fools" que muestra como el grupo sigue su senda abierta tras su separación de Skiltron en 2011, perpetuando su sonido y su concepto general.
