Otra banda más que da señales de vida compositiva en este 2021, los italianos "Elvenking" que muestran un single nuevo que imagino que formará parte de un próximo LP del que aún no tengo noticia a fecha de esta reseña. 2019 fue la fecha escogida por el grupo para editar su último LP, "Reader of the runes Divination". Por lo escuchado en este adelanto o single nuevo hay una reminiscencia hacia los momentos clásicos de la banda, un sonido muy "Elvenking" se desprende de este "The moon and magic", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Warrior Path - Last Tale

 

LAST  TALE

Vuelta a la última obra de la banda griega "Warrior Path", uno de los discos que esperaba yo personalmente con ganas y que en absoluto me ha decepcionado, más bien al contrario, despierta más expectativas en mí de ver hasta donde llegará la carrera de este fantástico músico, Bob Katsionis, guitarrista, bajista y teclista de la banda además de motor compositivo del proyecto. Unido ahora a la impresionante voz del sueco Daniel Heiman la obra como digo ha alcanzado todas mis expectativas, y otro gran ejemplo que ilustra lo que digo es la canción "Last tale", tema a medio tiempo, con momentos de aceleración que culminan en un solo que da muerte al tema de esos que se meten en la cabeza para ya no salir nunca más, cancionaza de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Primal fear - I Will Be Gone

 

I  WILL  BE  GONE

No es ningún secreto que los alemanes están pasando por uno de sus mejores momentos musicales, algo que ha quedado plasmado en el monumental disco "Metal Commando" del pasado 2020, un album que se ve en cierta manera ahora complementado con este EP "I will be gone" que la banda ha editado este año 2021. En el citado EP se incluye el tema "I will be gone" perteneciente a "Metal commando" pero con la variación del dueto entre Scheepers y Tarja, un plus con uno de los nombres míticos como es la citada ex vocalista de Nightwish. Además se incluyen cuatro temas más, uno de ellos "Vote of no confidence" incluido como bonus en el citado "Metal Commando". Como digo un complemento perfecto a un album redondo que muestra un futuro a corto plazo de la banda para mí deslumbrante, veremos si se confirma en su próxima obra. Canciones para una vida - Dragonheart - Gods Of Ice

 

GODS  OF  ICE

Hoy traigo al blog una de esas bandas que han estado siempre como en un segundo plano, a la sombra de la escena internacional a pesar de una ya larga carrera sobre todo más en lo referente a la extensión en el tiempo que en lo meramente compositivo, pues desde 1997 han editado tan solo cuatro LP's de estudio. Igualmente, hablar de esta banda es hacerlo de un planteamiento como banda muy personal, muy particular, o, en esencia, muy puro, siempre he tenido esa sensación de honestidad y de falta de medios a partes iguales al escuchar su material, un poco se queda esa idea de la música un tanto más amateur, como si todo amante del sonido power, al montar su propia banda haría un sonido en esta línea, con todo lo que implica, para bien o para mal. La verdad es que la banda tiene ese planteamiento que apunta hacia un concepto a lo Blind guardian, sin embargo con menos medios y apoyo su sonido deja más que desear en el apartado productivo que en el compositivo, siempre con ese punto auténtico que siempre resulta ser un plus. Su primera obra editada allá por 2000 fue "Underdark", que mostraba ese potencial que la banda siempre ha demostrado. De la citada obra, que uno debe escuchar, insisto, desde la perspectiva adecuada, quiero hoy dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, concretamente "Gods of Ice", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  ROYAL  GUARD

Nueva señal de vida compositiva a través de un single digital de la banda sueca Sabaton, de título "the royal guard", canción que versa sobre la guardia real sueca y su historia, y concretamente este tema basa su melodía en el salmo número 297 "Härlig är jorden". De momento no he leido nada sobre un nuevo album de estudio en el que pudiese incluirse este tema, aunque veremos, lo que si es claro es que el tema tiene ese sello de la banda tan reconocible e imitado, y que incluye igualmente una versión cantada en sueco de la misma, "Livgardet". Canciones para una vida - Durbin - Rise To Valhalla

 

RISE  TO  VALHALLA

De nuevo el disco del estadounidense "Durbin" en el blog, una agradable sorpresa que como ya he mencionado en una reseña anterior, de la que no tenía noticia alguna y que se ha sacado de la manga un más que aceptable disco, "The beast awakens" de este 2021. Como digo el motor en torno al que todo gira en la banda es James Durbin que pone voz y guitarra en la obra, y el foco, el espejo que busca en su sonido es el del heavy de toda la vida pero con un baño moderno, siempre declarado fan de DIO su sonido se abre a más de una vertiente pero siempre deja ese rasgo de calidad. Otra de las canciones que me ha gustado de este debut ha sido "Rise to valhalla", de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Blind Guardian - Don't Break The Circle

 

DON'T  BREAK  THE  CIRCLE

De vuelta al heavy metal hablamos de nuevo de uno de los grandes entre los grandes, los alemanes Blind Guardian, y, además, toca hoy de nuevo hacerlo de la parte inicial de su carrera, en un momento de la banda en que su sonido era mucho más agresivo, acelerado, contundente, menos adornado, menos vendible, y para muchos más auténtico, aunque, como siempre, eso es una cuestión de gustos. Hablo hoy de su segundo LP de nuevo, "Follow the blind", 1989, una época de mayor mérito si se puede decir por lo dificil de mantenerse en el concepto de heavy metal clásico pues pocos mantenían dicho concepto cayendo en otras corrientes más de moda o incipientes. Poco más que añadir, los cimientos de una banda que ha llegado a la cumbre por méritos propios, y de este auténtico discazo dejo hoy en el blog el tema "Don't break the circle", versión de un tema de "Demon" de 1982 que la banda incluyó en 1990 en la edición japonesa de la obra "Follow The Blind", un temazo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Icon - A Far Cry

 

A  FAR  CRY

Hablar de finales de la década de los 80 es hacerlo inevitablemente del influjo hard, ese amercanizamiento del sonido que se dio en muchos grupos de todo el planeta, era el momento perfecto para intentar conquistar el goloso mercado yankee y eso se potenciaba más aún en las bandas que habían flirteado con el heavy metal y eran oriundas de la zona, como ocurrió con los estadounidenses Icon, de los que ya he hablado en el blog. La carrera de este grupo nos dejó grandes momentos, con obras que han debido merecer mayor reconocimiento del cosechado, una carrera que duraría toda esa década de los ochenta para morir como proyecto en 1990. La segunda mitad de la historia de la banda setá además ligada a cambios dentro de su formación, entre ellos en el puesto de cantante, y el citado movimiento compositivo hacia un sonido más hard, aunque para mi gusto lleno de calidad, con buena presencia guitarrista. "Right between the eyes" fue su último disco de estudio, y en el encontrabamos buenos temas como este "A far Cry" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Manimal - Forged In Metal

 

FORGED  IN  METAL

Ya están de vuelta los suecos Manimal para dejarnos las primeras pinceladas del que será su cuarto LP de estudio del que aún, en estos momentos en que escribo esta reseña, no ha trascendido fecha oficial de publicación ni tampoco título para la obra. El single que se presentó este pasado 26 de marzo lleva por título "Forged in metal" y en la canción la banda muestra toda esa potencia power que son capaces de desarrollar.. La verdad es que la banda ha tenido una carrera un tanto falta de continuidad compositiva si tenemos en cuenta que llevan en activo desde 2001, aunque a decir verdad hasta 2009 no comenzaron a publicar LP's y es desde 2015 desde cuando comienzan a mostrar mayor continuidad que culminó en su magnifico "purgatorio" de 2018. A juzgar por lo escuchado en este single de adelanto "Forged In Metal" el LP puede prometer de mantener el nivel, hasta que decidan publicarlo dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de este adelanto, "Forged in metal".

Canciones para una vida - Vision Divine - On The Wings Of The Storm

 

ON  THE  WNGS  OF  THE  STORM

Muchos años de actividad ya para esta banda italiana "Vision Divine", de la que siempre ha tirado Olaf Thorsen, un grupo que surgió en esa dorada época de la escena italiana a finales o mediados de los 90 que bombardearon la escena internacional del power con muchas bandas, unas mejores que otras y unas más exitosas que otras. Estos chicos han mostrado en estos años que lo suyo es un power pero con ese componente progresivo, siempre con la calidad por bandera y tecnicamente con una cuidada producción tambien. El pasado 2019 demostraron estar en un gran momento aún con el magnífico album "When all the heroes are dead" que suponía ya el octavo album de estudio de la banda, pero siempre para mí ocupará un lugar especial su debut de 1999, "Vision Divine", una obra que desde el inicio despertó grandes expectativas y que mostraba un nivel altísimo para tratarse de un debut, un LP completo del que se pueden escoger muchas de sus canciones y hoy quiero yo hacerlo con este "On the wings of the storm" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

HAMMERSCHLAG

Otra banda alemana, "Hammer King" que en estos días da señales de actividad en forma de adelanto de su nueva obra, en este caso su cuarto LP de título homónimo al nombre de la banda y que verá la luz de forma oficial el proximo 11 de junio de este 2021. Hablar de esta banda es hacerlo de power metal, de ese que sin ser especialmente brillante ni imaginativo u original pero que resulta siempre efectivo y del gusto de los amantes de subgénero. La canción adelanto se llama "Hammerschlag" con la colaboración de Gerre de Tankard, y de ella dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Volviendo a la segunda de las obras de los suecos "Tungsten", esa banda de la que ya he hablado en varias ocasiones en el blog, quiero hoy dejar otra de las canciones que constituyen el segundo LP, "Tundra" de 2020, donde se pone de manifiesto esa aparente facilidad para crear melodías de las que se meten instantaneamente en la cabeza, evidentemente este grupo tiene influencias muy variadas y su sonido no será del todo del agrado de los amantes de géneros menos adornados, pero cuando se ponen en plan power europeo son capaces de enganchar a todo seguidor del subgénero con las primeras escuchas. Canciones para una vida - Nibiru Ordeal - Civilization

 

CIVILIZATION

Con ese componente innegablemente progresivo, pero de la mano de ese sonido power de corte finlandes, reconocible el planteamiento que en su momento hizo Stratovarius y que ha debido calar en muchas bandas posteriormente, más aún en bandas compatriotas como estos Nibiru Ordeal. Estamos aún en los primeros pasos compositivos de este grupo formado en 2006 pero que a pesar del largo periodo de tiempo ha comenzado a editar música propia desde 2015 en adelante y este "Solar Eclipse" es su primer LP, del año 2019. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de los temas que componen el album, disco que quizá se haga un pelín largo, sobre todo si lo tuyo no es el sonido con tintes progresivos, pero del que se pueden destacar grandes momentos como este "Civilization", versionado de su primer EP "Spacebeast" de 2015 para la ocasión desu primer larga duración, y del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube, lo cual despierta en mí la curiosidad de lo que estará por venir en el futuro por parte de esta banda finlandesa.

SKYFALL

Parece claro, y lo es, que, una banda de la talla de los alemanes Helloween, poco tiene ya que demostrar tras una carrera llena de obras antológicas y que ha sido capaz de rehacerse de traumas en lo referente a las idas y cambios de miembros fundamentales. Para agigantar más si es posible su leyenda, solo les quedaba la reunificación, casi a modo de reconstrucción, en lo que durante muchos años solo podía ser soñado por los amantes del sonido primigenio de la banda, y de algunos de los momentos más celebrados del grupo como fueron los años de los "Keepers", antes de la salida del genio Hansen. Pero, visto el desarrollo de los acontecimientos, y conocidos los senderos por los que los ya ex miembros iban discurriendo y desarrollando sus carreras, hoy, al hacerse real e inminente la materialización de un material nuevo con todos de nuevo reunidos, y añadiendo otra de las figuras fundamentales que ha sido santo y seña de la banda en adelante como es la figura de Deris, amen de los Grosskopf y Weikath que siempre algo más en la sombra sostuvieron a Helloween también, la duda es razonable y evidente, ¿no serán demasiados gallos para un gallinero?, no lo se, el tiempo lo dirá, el caso es que la obra, de título igualmente evidente, "Helloween" está a punto de ver la luz, (18 de Junio), y las primeras pinceladas ya brillan flamantes, lustrosas, como la marca "Helloween" requiere y merece, en forma de su primer single "Skyfall", tema del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Claymorean - Blood Of The Dragon

 

BLOOD  OF  THE  DRAGON

Continúa con cierta dificultad, como de una manera desordenada, con esa sensación de incertidumbre en su futura continuidad la carrera musical de la banda serbia "Claymorean", un grupo impulsado por la figura de Vlad Invictus que formase la banda en 1994 bajo el nombre de "Claymore" y que se encarga de la voz masculina, la guitarra y la composición, y apoyado desde 2012 por la voz femenina de Dejana Garcevic. El pasado 2019 editaron un single de forma digital e independiente que daba un poco más de continuidad a su carrera, un tema único "Blood of the dragon" para el que contaron con los servicios multi instrumentistas del sueco  Cederick Forsberg del que ya he hablado en más de una ocasión en el blog, uno de esos inquietos músicos que se apuntan a un bombardeo. Tras esta obra en formato single la banda ha editado un demo con dos temas en 2020, lo que muestra una vez más esa extraña sensación de desorden en su carrera tras ya 4 LP's en la misma.Veremos cual es el destino final de un grupo que por otra parte no tiene nada que envidiar a otros grupos de su estilo, un power de corte épico, que recuerdan en muchas ocasiones a esa corriente italiana o griega de bandas.
