BREAKING THE SILENCE
Impecable banda estadounidense de speed thrash metal que tuvo cierta notoriedad a finales de los 80. su carrera se divide en dos periodos, uno que va desde la fundación del grupo en 1984 hasta su separación en 1993, y otro que va desde su reunión en 2001 hasta a actualidad. a pesar de lo dilatado de su trayectoria, (y aún teniendo en cuenta sus casi 10 años de inactividad), la producción del grupo se antoja realmente escasa, pero igualmente llena de calidad. Se trata de nuevo de otra de esas bandas que están totalmente menospreciadas, y eclipsadas por los grandes nombres del género, (más me acercaré al thrash que al speed al hacer este comentario), y es que se movían en ese terreno híbrido entre ambos subgéneros, un poco más hacia el speed en esta primera obra de la que dejo hoy un tema en el blog. El estilo de estos chicos termino quizás siendo su perdición, y me explico, pues sus rasgos musicales a medio camino entre el thrash y el speed añadían una gran cucharada melódica del heavy metal tradicional, y la mezcla resultante, a pesar de resultar hoy en día espectacular, quizá para la época era un coctel que no terminaba de satisfacer a los seguidores puros del thrash metal por un ligera falta de contundencia, y quizás eran demasiado "crudillos" para los seguidores del heavy metal clásico, no lo sé, puede que esta reflexión sea solo un intento de buscar una explicación de porqué una banda tan buena tuvo un apoyo tan corto como su reconocimiento. El caso es que hoy quiero hablar de su primer disco, el impresionante "Breaking the silence", de 1987, completa obra de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog su tema homónimo al título de la misma, "Breaking the silence", buena presentación para quienes no hayan tenido la suerte de escucharles, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
