THE RIDE OF THE VALKYRIES

Ya hemos hablado anteriormente en nuestro blog de este buen grupo, y como ya dijimos Domine es una banda italiana de power metal que se formó en 1983 y que comenzó a sacar material en forma de demos en 1986. Tuvo una larga época de funcionamiento underground, con cuatro demos hasta 1994, una demo cada tres años hasta que en 1997 dan un paso adelante sacando su primer larga duración. Los miembros fundadores, los hermanos Riccardo y Enrico Paoli al bajo y la guitarra, Carlo funaioli a la batería sustituyendo a Stefano Mazella en funciones vocales por Morby, y con ello dotaron a la banda con una seña de identidad inconfundible, pues se trata de un vocalista extraordinario. Su primer disco resulta bastante flojillo pero sirve para ver su potencial, que confirman en su segunda obra Dragonlord (Tales of the noble steel), de 1999 que tiene buena acogida entre el público, que les proporciona la posibilidad de girar por Europa llegando a tocar con bandas como Running Wild o Grave Digger. En total Domine han editado 5 obras de estudio y aunque se supone que siguen en activo, desde 2007 no han dado señales de vida a nivel compositivo. Quiero hoy hablar de su tercera obra de estudio, de título "Stormbringer ruler, the legend of the power supreme", de 2001, un disco en el que ya se nota a unos Domine muy asentados en su estilo, no en vano, su anterior obra "Dragonlord, tales of the noble steel", de 1999, les hizo ser muy conocidos ya internacionalmente, apoyándose un poco quizás en el tirón de sus compatriotas "Rhapsody", con cuya música tienen algún nexo en común en cuanto a concepto, ya que en cuanto a ejecución y composición, Domine se basa más en las melodías de guitarra que en la orquestación excesiva, pero el rollo épico sinfónico lo comparten ambas bandas. De este disco conceptual se puede decir que es una obra bastante buena que merece la pena ser escuchada con calma y que no defrauda si te agrada su estilo. De ella quiero hoy destacar su tema "The Ride of the valkyries", un tema con clara inspiración en "Die Walküre" de Richard Wagner con un guiño a la pieza de música clásica en un interludio en medio de la canción,  un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
