Canciones para una vida - Pectora - Twilight Knights

TWILIGHT  KNIGHTS

Vamos con un poco de sabor añejo a heavy metal de la vieja escuela pero de factura actual en esta ocasión de la escuela nórdica encarnada en los daneses Pectora quienes se forman en 2011 y desde ese momento han editado dos EP's y dos LP's, su material ha sido grabado bastante tarde si contamos su comienzo ya que los LP's son de 2019 y 2024, este último lleva por título "Twilight Knights" saliendo a la venta a comienzos de abril. Canciones para una vida - Divine Weep - Fading Glow

FADING  GLOW

Divine Weep es un grupo polaco cuyo sonido comenzo apuntando hacia un black metal melódico para progresivamente ir tornando su mirada hacia un power metal de corte europeo, un poco en una onda primal fear si se quiere. Formados en 1995 no editan material hasta casi dos décadas después, (2013) con su EP "Age of the immortal", luego solo dos LP's completan su discografía "Tears of the ages" de 2015 y "The omega man" de 2020. De su primer LP mencionado quiero dejar en el blog el tema que lo abre, "Fading Glow", buen termómetro para hacerse una idea del potencial de la banda, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - New Horizon - Apollo

 

APOLLO

Tras la salida del proyecto sueco New Horizon, de uno de sus dos miembros iniciales Eric Gronwall parecía ponerse en peligro su continuidad y que hubiese quedado como una colaboración más y única por el momento, sin embargo el otro miembro Jona Tee ha sabido buscarse un más que brillante sucesor en el puesto de vocalista, nada menos que la portentosa voz de Nils Molin de Dynazty, (será por opciones de calidad en la cantera sueca) lo que da el respaldo suficiente y necesario a New Horizon para que su horizonte se abra de par en par hacia el futuro, el segundo adelanto del segundo disco "Conquerors"  que el 14 de junio se publicará de forma oficial lleva por título "Apollo" y de él dejo un enlace a youtube.

Otra banda que va desvelando sus cartas en lo que se refiere a lo que será su nueva obra de estudio "The Silver key", la que será la novena de su discografía para el 28 de junio. Nos referimos por supuesto a los polacos Crystal Viper que poco a poco se van haciendo un nombre a medida que avanza su carrera y se afianza su sonido ya muy característico. Canciones para una vida - Powerwolf - 1589

Los alemanes Powerwolf están ya listos con su siguiente LP de estudio, "Wake up the wicked" que saldrá a la venta en el mes de julio. Está claro que siempre apoyados en su calidad y capacidad para llegar a las masas, Powerwolf es una máquina de hacer dinero dentro de los límites que una música minoritaria como la nuestra permite, pero al hilo de esto ya editarán varias versiones en varios formatos con temas extra y cajas especiales de la obra. El primer single es este 1589 que basado en una historia real de dicho año narra las andanzas de un supuesto hombre lobo que terminó siendo ajusticiado, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, que por cierto dice su discográfica Napalm Records que se trata de su mayor producción de clip hasta la fecha.

Canciones para una vida - Victory - Count On Me

COUNT  ON  ME

Los alemanes Victory están de vuelta en este 2024 con su duodecimo LP de estudio "Circle of life". El grupo destacó sobre todo en los ochenta, en una década que nos dejo grandes obras que realmente les deberían haber catapultado hacia el estrellato, en mi caso personal siempre destacaré su "Don't get mad ... Get Even" de 1986 con una gran carga emocional para mí, el caso es que tras esos primeros cinco discos el grupo se diluyó bastante, cambiando su esencia y dejó no solo para mí de ser lo importante que debería haber seguido siendo. Herman Frank, el verdadero sustentador del grupo no se dió por vencido y militando en otras grandes bandas quiso mantener vivo el espíritu del Victory para retomarlo, bastante irregularmente desde 2003 en adelante con nueva formación, y en este 2024 da continuidad a su anterior trabajo de 2021, en palabras del músico, un disco mucho más asentado como la propia banda, creciendo para mantenerse arriba. Canciones para una vida - Line Of Durin - Durin The Deathless

DURIN  THE  DEATHLESS

Con una cierta actitud compositiva de este lado del charco la propuesta de los estadounidenses Line Of Durin es un black metal en lo instrumental un tanto epic power refrendado por los coros y por un aire atmosférico presente en su sonido. Formados en 2016 editan su primer material en 2019 en formato EP, después 2022 fue testigo de la publicación de su primer LP "Ever Homeward". Con ese nombre de la banda queda clara la temática tolkieniana, lo que puede explicar sin ninguna duda la orientación compositiva con ese aire incluso folk, como digo muy europea. Canciones para una vida - Universe III - To Serve And Protect

 

TO  SERVE  AND  PROTECT 

Los suecos Universe son un ejemplo como tantos otros de banda que despuntó minimamente en la década de los ochenta, sin apenas repercusión para el gran público y que sin embargo, apoyados en una innegable calidad no podían diluirse sin más aunque fuese a la vuelta de varias décadas. La particularidad de este grupo es su cambio en parte de nombre para su vuelta. Su primer periodo de actividad se da entre 1982 y 1988, con un LP publicado "Universe" de 1985, del que ya he dejado algo en el blog. En 2018, con nuevo cantante se reunen y editan "Rock is alive", bajo el nombre de Universe Infinity, y en este 2024 están de vuelta con su tercer LP de estudio "Universe III" y ese mismo nombre como banda, tres albumes, tres nombres como banda pero el nexo común de la calidad en cada uno de sus momentos, De este "Universe III" quiero dejar hoy en el blog uno de sus temas, "To serve and protect" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Asterise - Falling Stars

FALLING  STARS

Vamos con un proyecto internacional, griego-polaco, en clave de power metal pero en una onda metal opera, bastante en una línea Avantasia y similares. Se llaman Asterise y tras su formación en 2018 comienzan a publicar material en 2022, primero un par de singles preludio de su único LP a fecha de esta reseña, "Two Worlds". Con un solido bastante europeo que podría haberse editado tranquilamente en la década de los 2000 a juzgar por su composición, buena y limpia producción y promesa de seguir adelante como banda a juzgar por la obra en su conjunto. Que mejor manera de sacar conclusiones que a través de uno de sus temas, en este caso "Falling Stars", en ocasiones con unos teclados muy Stratovaricos o a los Sonata Arctica de sus inicios, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Los escoceses Alestorm han regresado en este 2024 con una pequeña colección de temas en formato EP para mantener la atención del gran público, algo muy común en nuestros días. poco que añadír, temas muy Alestorm, su sonido es ya franquicia, imitado, directo y siempre gamberro sin dejar de lado la calidad. Canciones para una vida - Illusory - Utopia + A Few Days Make Eternity

UTOPIA  +  A  FEW  DAYS  MAKE  ETERNITY

De nuevo la escena griega a la palestra, en esta ocasión para hablar de una banda nacida de las cenizas de otra, son Illusory que desde 2012 con ese nombre llevan en activo aunque parte de sus miembros ya pertenecieron a "The Ivory Tower" entre 1992 y 2012 lo que muestra que lo de la escena griega es solo el fruto de muchos años en la oscuridad haciendo las cosas bien. Illusory hacen un heavy metal con un cierto aire clásico, en ocasiones casi power en otras casi progresivo, siempre interesante. En 2016 editan el primero de sus tres LP's a fecha de esta reseña, titulado "The Ivory tower" refiriendose a su anterior etapa, un disco del que quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, la intro instrumental y el tema que lo abre, "A few days make eternity" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Sellsword - Saxon Steel

SAXON  STEEL

Los británicos Sellsword llevan ya demasiado tiempo sin editar material en formato LP, más si tenemos en cuenta sus fantásticos dos primeros trabajos de 2016 y 2019 en que además mostraron no solo versatilidad sino una progresión que no hace sino desear que su carrera continue dando más frutos. Al menos parecen volver a la actividad compositiva en este 2024, primero editando dos temas en directo y finalmente un single de estudio que esperemos sea el preludio de su tercer disco. Desde luego con este "Saxon Steel" no hacen sino ahondar en las ganas antes expuestas ya que siguen en esa línea mencionada y con nuevo cantante que parece encajar a la perfección. Canciones para una vida - Savage Wizdom - The Barbarian

THE  BARBARIAN

Savage Wizdom es un grupo estadounidense de los que se han tomado con mucha calma su carrera musical ya que han pasado muchos años desde su formación (2004) y en estas dos décadas de actividad tan solo han grabado tres LP's de estudio (2007, 2014 y 2024). Hablamos de una especie de heavy power metal, que desde luego puede traerte muchas reminiscencias de bandas y escenas por momentos según las canciones. Se les puede achacar una cierta sensación amateur en ocasiones pero siempre en general se puede decir que sus canciones tienen suficientes elementos para disfrutar. Hoy quiero dejar una de ellas en el blog, concretamente una de su segundo LP, "A new begining" de 2014, el tema "The barbarian" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

BLOW  IT  UP

Los alemanes Snalebite son una buena representación de lo que es el sonido hard 'n heavy ochentero pero trasladado a la actualidad. Formados en 2012 llevan moviendose por ese estrecho filo que separa ambos estilos a lo largo ya de tres albumes de estudio, el último de ellos de este 2024 y que lleva por título "Cobra Crew". En franco ascenso, obra tras obra van dando pasos al frente en su objetivo de llegar a más público y aunque ha pasado más de un lustro desde que en 2018 publicasen su segundo LP, el tiempo que se han tomado para hacerlo les ha cundido en lo compositivo. Buen trabajo en terminos generales del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog el tema que lo abre, "Blow it up" con toda esa reminiscencia ochentera, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
