La banda finlandesa Metal de Facto ha regresado a la actividad compositiva en este 2024 para lanzar su segundo LP de estudio "Land of the rising sun Part 1" que a juzgar por su título será solo la primera parte de un concepto que abarcará al menos otra obra más. Editado en el mes de febrero este segundo album denota una mayor consolidación de la banda, responde quizá más a lo que se puede esperar de músicos asentados procedentes de bandas de renombre tales como Ensiferum, Kiuas o Dreamtale. En esa clave power, el grupo tampoco es que vaya a pasar a la historia por este album, sin embargo van afinando la puntería y jugando con las fórmulas, incluidas esas que intentan enganchar al oyente con ganchos muy vendibles, como en la canción "Superstars" y su coreable coro, (valga la dedundancia), tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Se acaban los apelativos con esta banda germana, Rage, un grupo que parece destinado a durar para siempre, y no solo es volumen de material el que la banda genera, sino que además la calidad es siempre innegable, mantenida y en ocasiones generosamente derrochada como es el caso de este "Afterlife lines" una obra doble con material nuevo completamente, es nada menos que su vigésimo quinto LP de estudio, poco más que añadir, solo dejar otro buen ejemplo de su calidad a través de la canción "Justice will be mine" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Sleeper's Keep - Winter's Call

WINTER'S  CALL

De vuelta a la escena finlandesa que es otra de esas prolíficas canteras que nunca decepciona y aparentemente nunca se agota para descubrir a una banda nueva que da sus primeros pasos compositivos en este 2024 a través de su debut en formato LP, se trata de Sleeper's Keep y de su obra "Tales beyond the past". Hablamos de un power de corte europeo en plena tradición del genero y la localización, lleno con todos lo atributos esperables del género y que parecen apostar con un ascenso rápido a la cima de ese sonido. Formados en 2022 en su formación no aparecen nombres conocidos pero desde luego la joven y nueva formación parece haber mamado mucho de la escena tradicional power y ahora lo plasman en su debut, del que dejo a modo de ejemplo hoy en el blog la canción "winter's call" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Moxy - Ridin' High

RIDIN'  HIGH

Los canadienses Moxi son, o mejor dicho fueron, otra de las bandas que pusieron las primeras piedras en el edificio sonoro metálico, en los setenta y desde un prisma más hard rockero, proto hard n' heavy. Es igualmente un grupo que tras publicar el grueso de su carrera en los setenta, no solo por el volumen de obras sino además por la importancia de ellas en su discografía, y que en la década de los 2000 editaron otro par de ellos sin demasiado éxito. En total su discografía alcanza los siete LP's de estudio incluyendo sus cinco LP's setenteros y los dos de los 2000, el tercero de ellos "Ridin' High" publicado en 1977 es uno de sus momentos álgidos y de sicho disco dejo hoy en el blog el tema que da nombre a la obra, "Ridin' High" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Blitzz - Demon Of The Night

DEMON  OF  THE  NIGHT

Vamos con otra de esas bandas que apenas tuvo margen de maniobra, pero que sin embargo dejo auténticos detalles de lo lejos que hubieran podido llegar, una vez más nos trasladamos a la década de los ochenta, aunque el trabajo fue publicado en 1990, una vez más hablamos de la escena europea, de la alemana en este caso, la banda fue Blitzz, el marco sonoro un heavy metal speed metal con voz femenina. Formados en 1982 bajo el nombre de Prinzz siendo aún adolescentes y con un estilo no heavy metal que fueron adquiriendo con los años, las giras y los cambios en la formación, así en 1988 firman con Gama Records cuya particularidad fue ser un sello de la parte democratica alemana, siendo el grupo perteneciente a la zona comunista, así serían de las primeras bandas en fichar por una discográfica del oeste tras la caida del muro de Berlin. En 1990 editan su único material oficial, "Do the blitzz" en formato EP, seis temas que debían preceder a lo que sería su debut en formato LP que nunca se daría finalmente, una pena porque el grupo sonaba y mucho, como por ejemplo en la canción "Demon of the night" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Eynomia - Mask Of Vengeance

MASK  OF  VENGEANCE 

La banda estadounidense Eynomia responde a priori a un prototipo de grupo que por lo general no suele ser mi preferido, ese tipo de grupos sinfónicos, encabezados por voz femenina, que no en pocas ocasiones termina por caer en tesituras operísticas que siempre han sido quizá demasiado para mi gusto. Con ese llamemoslo prejuicio si se quiere, me acerqué al grupo, al disco y sobre todo a la canción, "Mask of vengeance" de su segundo disco de estudio "Sea of tears" de este 2024, gracias a la colaboración que en la citada canción hace uno de mis cantantes preferidos, sobre todo en sus inicios, Mike Vescera, enorme su trabajo vocal, particularmente para mí con Obsession, y, al ver su nombre en la participación en el tema no pude por menos que acercarme a escucharlo. Es una de esas voces que siempre da un plus, y la verdad es que la voz de la cantante de la banda Eynomia Phyllis Rutter no cae en esa tesitura opereta que tanto puede llegar a incomodarme, así pues dejo en el blog una enlace a youtube de este "Mask of vengeance" de Eynomia.

Canciones para una vida - Angel - Tower

 

TOWER

Vistazo histórico de nuevo a la historia del sonido heavy, a los mismisimos comienzos para recuperar a otro grupo de los que pusieron su granito de arena en la enorme amalgama de elementos que llevo al sonido, basicamente rock a evolucionar hasta el amado heavy metal y sus cientos de variantes y subgéneros. De nuevo hoy volvemos a la escena estadounidense a través de Angel, un grupo cuya historia comienza a mitad de los setenta, descubierta en un club nocturno por el bajista de Kiss Gene Simmons, quien la presenta a su sello discográfico que le da una oportunidad editando en 1975 el disco "Angel", su debut. El sonido de Angel distaba del practicado por Kiss, más elaborado, con matices progresivos, más hard rock clásicos, y la discográfica vio en ellos una especie de opuesto a Kiss, chicos malos, con su cuero negro y sus pinturas agresivas, y Angel terminarían vistiendo de blanco y dando una imagen de chicos buenos. En 1980 se separarían con siete LP's en su discografía, y como nombre mencionable en esta primera parte de su historia en los teclados estaba Greg Giuffria, músico de renombre que luego pasaría por grandes bandas del hard rock ochentero y noventero como House of lords o los mismos Giuffria. THE  BLACKSMITH  +  READY  TO  RUMBLE

Vamos ahora con una nueva banda de una de las grandes escenas internacionales como es la germana, siempre con nuevas e interesantes bandas emergentes que se apoyan en el inabarcable legado metálico que poseen. En esta ocasión la banda nueva se llama Iron Echo, formada en 2022 y que en este 2024 editan su debut en formato LP "Forged in fire". Hablamos de un heavy power metal melódico, a pesar del aire "Primal Fear" de la portada no van por ahí los tiros, se trata de un sonido menos contundente y crudo para adentrarse en uno más melódico. De este debut dejo hoy en el blog su inicio, con la intro inicial "The blacksmith" y el primer tema, "Ready to rumble" de los que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Dungeon Crawl - Roll For Initiative + The Arcane Temptation

ROLL  FOR  INITIATIVE + THE  ARCANE  TEMPTATION

Vamos con estos estadounidenses, Dungeon Crawl, un grupo que lleva ya unos años de actividad aunque aún sin demasiada repercusión. Formados en 2015, han editado, a fecha de esta reseña dos LP's de estudio incluyendo su segundo LP "Maze Controller" editado este 2024 (20 de septiembre). Catalogados como thrash la verdad es que esa etiqueta no se ajusta exactamente a la realidad compositiva de la banda, que si bien si que muestra algunos de los rasgos del subgénero los enriquece con otros propios de otras propuestas, así los coros propios del power y la presencia de melodías recurrentes heavy clásicas hacen de su sonido algo más propio y original, incluyendo la "descarnada" tesitura vocal. LONG  COLD  WINTER  OF  SORROW  AND  STRIFE

Ya estamos al lado de la fecha de salida oficial del nuevo y noveno LP de estudio de los finlandese Ensiferum, "Winter Storm" (18 de octubre), y la banda muestra su segundo adelanto de la obra que demuestra una vez más que la dirección tomada en la anterior obra "Thalassic" de 2020 con la incorporación del teclista y cantante (voz limpia) Pekka Montin, será al menos el futuro inmediato de la banda, con ese toque quizá más power por la incorporación de los citados elementos, aunque conservando parte de la esencia de los Ensiferum clásicos. Canciones para una vida - Hammerfall - Reveries

 

REVERIES

Tengo la sensación con los suecos Hammerfall que han atravesado por varias fases en su carrera, desde luego no tanto por lo que a composición se refiere ya que siempre han sido ( y así debe ser) bastante homogeneos a la hora de confeccionar obras, esta reflexión va más encaminada a la aceptación de la banda en general, inicios deslumbrantes, comiendose el mundo, sorprendiendo e onfluyendo, luego una época más criticada, precisamente por la homogeneidad al componer, y parece que, aguantando el temporal ahora están ya alcanzando ese momento en que nadie pretende ya que cambien su sonido y si te gustan defiendes cada obra nueva como procedente de una banda importante que marcó su senda hace ya mucho y que muchos han seguido tras ellos. Su penúltima obra "Hammer of dawn" dejo otro buen puñado de temas coreables como este "Reveries" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

VOICE  OF  THUNDER

Es curioso lo que ha decidido hacer la banda finlandesa Stratovarius en este 2024, editando dos EP's con apenas un mes de separación que unido habría dado de sobra para un LP, claro está que en las explicaciones posibles a tal cuestión nos hablarán de la temática, de que son canciones conceptuales y que debían ir en dos obras diferentes, aunque tal y como está el mundo hoy en día más lo veo yo como la oportunidad de sacarle más retabilidad a lo que habría sido un album vendiendolo como dos EP's diferentes, sea como sea es una buena noticia que la banda saque habitualmente material, sobre todo si suena tan "Stratovarius" como lo hace este Demand de agosto, cinco temas de entre los que hoy dejo en el blog "Voice of thunder", recuperado de su anterior trabajo de 2022, un tema como digo muy Stratovarius, también en el apartado de la duración, once minutos, todos los ingredientes necesarios se encuentra en esta salsa, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Otra banda más, otra banda nueva Rakester, de otra de esas canteras que últimamente está en franco crecimiento como es la polaca, con muchas bandas que tienen importancia internacional y muchas otras que tratan de seguir esa onda, como estos Rakester formados en 2020 y que en este 2024 editan su debut. Queda claro que hay puntos que mejorar pero también se ve ese potencial que con el tiempo pueden ir puliendo para llegar lejos. Su sentimiento es claramente el del heavy metal de la vieja escuela, se nota toda esa energía, esa mala leche y esa intención de hacer su sonido para ellos mismos. Su debut "Wanderer of time" ha visto la luz a primeros de este mes de septiembre y de él dejo en el blog su canción "Pirate song" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Mallevs - Black Abyss

BLACK  ABYSS

Nueva banda griega, que sigue reafirmando el excelente estado de forma del que goza dicha cantera, son ya muchos los años que llevan haciendo las cosas bien y eso se termina notando a la larga siempre, generaciones nuevas que ven la posibilidad de mirarse en los espejos de casa y creerse que pueden también ellos seguir ese sendero, los frutos son las muchas bandas que actualmente están continuando el legado griego, otra de ellas son estos "Mallevs", con un sonido de regusto a heavy metal clásico, que se formaron hace solo un par de años y que en este 2024 han editado su debut en formato LP a primeros de este mes de septiembre, por título lleva "The hammer" y de él dejo en el blog la canción "Black abyss" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
