Canciones para una vida - Freedom Call - Infinity

 

INFINITY

Un poco en la misma línea de lo dicho en la anterior entrada del blog referente a Hammerfall, lo de los alemanes Freedom Call es pura constancia, consistencia, perseverancia en su concepto compositivo y capacidad para generar sentimientos encontrados, aquí menos extremos por el cartel que siempre ha tenido esta banda de "chicos buenos" del power, esa positividad inherente a las obras del grupo. La verdad es que no por esperado su sonido es menos efectivo, agradecido, absolutamente enganchón y coreable en vivo, y el nuevo disco cumple perfectamente con todos estos estandares de la banda, por ejemplo de nuevo en su tema "Infinity" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

AVENGE  THE  FALLEN

Si hay algo en lo que más ha podido destacar esta denostada y amada banda sueca a lo largo de su historia, ya larga, es la aparente facilidad para generar temas que sus fieles adoren desde la primera escucha y que sus detractores critiquen abiertamente ( a pesar de que probablemente tarareen), y es que su capacidad para crear temas coreables, pensando en un directo, no parece tener límites. En este 2024, y a través de su ya décimo tercer LP de estudio, "Avenge the fallen" tenemos un ejemplo más de ello, y no hace falta irse más allá del tema que abre la obra y que la da nombre, para darse cuenta, una canción de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, (lleno de cliches, como no podía ser de otra manera, más leña al fuego para amar-odiar al grupo).

Canciones para una vida - Warhorse - Back In Time

BACK  IN  TIME

Warhorse fue una banda británica, otra de las que se podrían conocer como pioneras del heavy metal incipiente, que desarrolla su corta actividad a comienzos de los 70, formados por el empuje del bajista original de la formación Deep Purple, Nick Simper, con quienes tocó en sus tres primeros albumes, y tras su salida de la banda se enfocó en este proyecto interesante donde fugazmente se dieron cita otros músicos de renombre como por ejemplo Rick Wakeman a los teclados, no obstante Warhorse apenas tuvo un lustro de actividad dejando solo un par de LP's para la historia musical. Su sonido en cierta medida similar al estandard de Deep Purple, se movía en ese proto heavy metal primigenio, con flashes hard  rockeros y progresivos que se reflejaban en fases guitarreras en las canciones sobre todo. Su segundo LP "Red Sea", que terminaría siendo el último, y de él dejo en el blog una de sus canciones, "Back in time" que muestra bien lo dicho, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

BEYOND  THE  RAINBOW  BRIDGE

Sigue avanzando la carrera musical de los austriacos Dragony, quizá encontrando cada vez más su propio espacio, su propio sonido, siempre enmarcado en un power sinfónico, con cuidada producción y mezclando en lo lírico la fantasía con los hechos históricos dando a sus historias un toque muy personal. Canciones para una vida - Jekyll And Hyde - City Of Sin

CITY  OF  SIN

Vamos con otra banda más de las desconocidas, de las ochenteras, de las de potencial y de la monodisco, en esta ocasión los estadounidenses "Jekyll  and Hyde", que en 1985 publicaban su único LP de estudio "First Tyme". Otra vez estamos en ese filo que separa el heavy metal del heard rock en el termino tan ochentero del "Hard 'n heavy", un subestilo muy natiral para la época sobre todo en la parte final de la citada década en que cada vez pegaba con más fuerza la vertiente americana del hard rock, vocalmente un tanto Ratt, estos Jekyll and hyde de los que dejo en el blog su canción "City of sin" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

DEVILRY  OF  ECSTASY

Como un metrónomo, la banda sueca Dynazty edita obras cada dos años como máximo desde el inicio de su carrera, (2007 ya), y este 2024 no iba a ser una excepción, y ya nos van llegando los ecos del que será su noveno album de estudio a través de su adelanto "Devilry of Ecstasy", canción que nos demuestra que la banda sigue en su propuesta compositiva perpetuando su sonido, ese que les ha ido dando cada vez mayor número de seguidores con todo merecimiento, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Steelwings - I Wanna Hear You Screaming

 

I  WANNA  HEAR  YOU  SCREAMING

Vamos con la enésima banda anónima ochentera que hizo en el más absoluto anonimato su intento por desarrollar una carrera apoyada en las ganas, la ilusión y el potencial pero que no logró nada destacable a nivel de reconocimiento, es además una de esas bandas que varias décadas después relanzó su carrera para darse una segunda oportunidad que por el momento no les ha sonreido más que la primera. Son los suecos Steelwings, formados en 1982 para cesar en su actividad diez años después editando varias demos y un único LP en ese periodo de actividad, después, en 2019 relanzan su carrera hasta la actualidad editando dos LP's más. Sonido hard 'n heavy ochenterote, en su debut, de 1989 "Steelwings", mostrando el citado potencial, quizá la época escogida para mostrar sus composiciones por vez primera una vez más no fue la más adecuada por lo que cambiaba a finales de los 80 la escena, pero de cualquier forma dejo en el blog una muestra de esa calidad y potencial para haber podido llegar mucho más arriba, por ejemplo a través de este "I wanna hear you screaming", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

STARGAZER

Banda clásica, importante por trayectoria, miembros e influencia, e igualmente disco clásico, fundamental para entender globalmente nuestro sonido, con temas de esos que han de considerarse eternos, versionados hasta la saciedad. Hablamos de Rainbow, la banda británica  y de su obra "Rising" de 1976, por lo tanto hablamos de la época previa a que el heavy metal fuese denominado como tal, en ese momento en que aún se estaba gestando y los de Blackmore (y Dio), tuvieron su parte de culpa en ello. PATH  OF  THE  BRAVE

Parece que los medios tiempos y baladas van a tener un hueco también en las obras de la banda internacional All For Metal, quienes en este 2024 darán un segundo paso en su carrera y uno que sirve para mostrar que no solo se trataba de un proyecto diseñado por una discográfica para hacer dinero sino que la banda puede tener un recorrido largo y perdurable. La nueva obra, "Gods of metal (year of the dragon)" verá la luz de manera oficial este inminente 23 de agosto y ya nos han dejado otro adelanto, "Path of the brave", como digo mostrando el lado más sentimental a través de esta balada de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Budgie - Heavy Revolution

HEAVY  REVOLUTION

Los británicos Budgie son otra de esas bandas que pusieron su granito de arena para que el heavy metal como sonido llegase a ser una realidad ya que buena parte de su carrera se desarrolló antes de que pudiese decirse que el heavy metal como tal era un hecho. Sus origenes mas orientados al blues hard rock fueron tornandose a medida que avamzaba su carrera y la década de los setenta en un sonido más pesado, siendo un claro ejemplo de banda que contribuyó a su evolución y popularización. Comienzan el 1967 y editan en la década de los 70 siete discos de estudio, considerable cifra. Después en los 80 editarían tres obras más hasta 1982, para rematar su carrera en 2006 con su úndécimo album de estudio y último a fecha de esta reseña, en lo que sería su cuarto periodo de actividad. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su octava obra de estudio, "Power supply" de 1980, en concreto "Heavy revolution" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

SURFING  WITH  THE  ALIEN

El segundo album de estudio del guitarrista ultra famoso Joe Satriani, resultaría al final ser el de mayor reconocimiento de su carrera que de momento alcanza a fecha de esta reseña, los 18. El citado segundo album, "Surfing with the alien" de 1987, contiene algunas de las canciones más conocidas del guitarrista, quien en su extensa obra abarca varios estilos, en ocasiones alejados del mundo metálico, pero en otras demuestra con claridad el porqué de su influencia incluso como maestro de maestros, buen ejemplo es el tema que da nombre a esta obra del 87, "Surfing with the alien" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Striker - Blood Magic

BLOOD  MAGIC

Vamos con lo último de los canadienses Striker, la banda formada en 2007 que ya a estas alturas de su carrera va desarrollandola a buen ritmo tanto de reconocimiento en franco crecimiento por méritos propios y evidentes como en composición en si misma, encontrando su sonido propio y personal a medio camino entre el heavy metal de corte clásico speedico y el power metal. Siete son ya los LP's que adornan su discografía, incluyendo "Ultra Power" de este 2024 de comienzos de febrero, y del que dejo hoy en el blog su canción "Blood Magic", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

KINGDOM  OF  STEEL

Otro ejemplo de la nueva obra de los británicos obsesionados con los videojuegos y el sonido acorde, acelerado, de corte moderno y con una gran legión de seguidores que aumenta con cada obra. Este disco de 2024, "Warp speed warriors" supone ya su noveno LP de estudio desde 2001 en que funcionan con el nombre de Dragonforce (antes Dragonheart 1999 - 2001), así que han llegado sin duda a ese punto en el que saben perfectamente a por lo que van y lo ejecutan a la perfección. Parece haber habido consenso general sobre el momento excelente de forma como banda de los británicos Judas Priest en el momento actual, "Invincible Shield" es la prueba palpable de ello, una obra que raya a un nivel general altísimo y que pone en cabeza una vez más a Judas de entre los más grandes, han sabido envejecer perfectamente como grupo, siendo más fieles que nadie a su concepto, sin excusas ni cambios, simplemente un disco más que no desentona en una discografía simplemente épica.
