BOOK  OF  A  HERO

De nuevo vuelvo a "Grailknights", esa banda alemana gran ejemplo de originalidad en lo estético, y no solo, puesto que su concepto personal de lo que debe ser un disco auna en una sola banda elementos dispares de diversos subgéneros siempre para un resultado final tan bueno como poco reconocido, y hoy quiero dejar en el blog a modo de nuevo ejemplo otra de las canciones de su, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, último trabajo publicado, "Knightfall" de 2018. Ejemplo de originalidad y versatilidad es el medio tiempo "Book of a hero" del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a youtube. Un grupo que, una vez más, debería tener mayor reconocimiento, aunque su puesta en escena se preste a no tomárselos demasiado en serio.

Canciones para una vida - Grand Magus - Dawn Of Fire

DAWN  OF  FIRE

El noveno disco de estudio de la banda sueca "Grand Magus" se titula "Wolf God" y ha visto la luz este recién pasado 14 de abril. Como ya he dicho en otras ocasiones sobre la banda, se trata de un grupo con su sonido en clave de heavy, power metal, doom metal. El grupo ha encontrado un camino personal en lo estilístico, con un sonido reconocible y perfilado a lo largo y ancho de sus ya casi 20 años de existencia como banda bajo el nombre de "Grand Magus". Por lo tanto, en lo referente a la última obra del grupo, "Wolf God", encontramos más de lo mismo, para lo bueno y lo no tan bueno, como podría ser esa sensación de monotonía al escuchar un disco completo de la banda, pero desde luego cuando aciertan, aciertan, como en caso de la canción "Dawn of fire", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Freternia - Reborn

REBORN

Grandes noticias desde Suecia una vez más, al referirme a la banda "Freternia", un grupo del que ya he hablado con anterioridad en el blog y que tuvo una etapa demasiado corta en mi opinión, para el potencial que atesoraba y que quedo absolutamente patente en los dos LP's que editaron a comienzos del presente siglo. En realidad el grupo nunca terminó por separarse, pero dejaron de lado lo compositivo y más parecía eso que otra cosa, 2009 fue un año en que dieron señales de vida con un EP publicado, pero ha sido una década más tarde cuando parecen volver a la carga con lo que será su tercer LP de estudio "The Gathering", que verá la luz el próximo 14 de junio. De momento nos dejan el primer adelanto, "Reborn",esperemos que un título profético a juzgar por lo bien que suena, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube .

 Los suecos Hammerfall son otra de esas bandas que hacen girar la cabeza con cada uno de sus nuevos movimientos . Cosechando opiniones a favor casi en la misma medida que en contra, lo que es indudable es la expectación cada vez que se deciden a crear material nuevo.Y en esas estamos, el próximo 16 de agosto verá la luz el disco número once de estudio de la banda en una carrera que se extiende ya más allá de los 20 años. Es evidente que este grupo tiene más que claro a lo que quieren sonar, habiendo sabido crear un sello personal que es marca de la casa, y por lo escuchado en su primer single de adelanto, estamos en dicho sonido.  No se durante cuanto tiempo las dos bandas finlandesas "Beast in Black" y "Battle Beast" seguirán solapando sus carreras, con ese marcaje tan estrecho que, al menos, actualmente llevan a cabo. De todas maneras, siempre que se habla de una de las bandas parece casi obligado mencionar a la otra por todo lo que implica tener un nexo común a ambas como Anton Kabanen, y esa polémica salida que ha derivado en esa competencia evidente que hay entre ellos. De cualquier manera creo sinceramente que hay escena suficiente para ambos grupos y espero terminar disociando a los grupos más adelante, más ahora que se van asentando cada uno en su puesto. Canciones para una vida - Battle Beast - Raise Your Fists

RAISE  YOUR  FISTS

 Traigo de nuevo el último disco publicado por la banda finlandesa "Battle Beast" con la intención de romper una lanza en su favor. Debo reconocer que al comienzo de escuchar la citada obra sentí que no iba a surtir ninguna opinión buena en mi, sobre todo atendiendo al single que da nombre a la obra. Sin embargo, para ser justos, más allá de la polémica que siempre acompañará a la banda, la salida de Kabanen  y la creación de Beast In Black, creo que la banda ha encontrado finalmente su propia parcela sonora, evidentemente con muchas similitudes a lo que hacían en tiempos de Kabanen, pero este disco me ha parecido una apuesta más personal si se quiere y eso es digno al menos de respeto. ETT  SISTA  FARVAL

La nueva obra de los suecos "Manegarm" va desvelando sus secretos, y como era de esperar en una banda de este calibre, se va uno encontrando con canciones de esas que le acompañarán en el futuro en incontables ocasiones. Este ya noveno disco de estudio del grupo, sigue la linea de lo publicado anteriormente, temáticas y sonido incluidos, con la cuestión viquinga presente por completo y esa mezcla entre el death melódico y el folk nórdico y épico a partes iguales que hacen de su sonido un sello propio. Buen ejemplo es esta otra canción sacada de "Fornaldarsagor", de este 2019, "Ett Sista Farval" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su "Lyric video" oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Rage - Time And Place

TIME  AND  PLACE

Hoy de nuevo toca ir a tiro seguro, a obra, banda y época 100 % contrastada para recurrir a uno de esos grupos que han sabido hacerse un nombre para siempre ya en esto del heavy. Se trata de Rage, del "Perfect Man" y del año 1988. Se trata del tercer trabajo de los alemanes, obra a la que ya he recurrido con anterioridad y a la que casi con total seguridad volveré a recurrir con posterioridad ya que practicamente en su totalidad el disco es para enmarcar. Power speed metal, de ese que abrió caminos y sirvió de ejemplo, música de calidad de la que entra en tu cabeza para quedarse, una definición de como hacer bien las cosas. Canciones para una vida - Frozen Crown - Arctic Gales & Neverending

ARCTIC  GALES  &  NEVERENDING

 Como lo prometido es deuda en lo referente a traer al blog el nuevo material de la banda italiana "Frozen Crown", y teniendo en cuenta todo lo que rodea a este grupo de reciente formación, quiero hoy dejar en el blog una de las canciones pertenecientes a este "Crowned in frost" del presente 2019. Todo lo dicho para el grupo y el disco debut de "Frozen crown" está completamente vigente en esta segunda entrega, solo que además hay que añadir que van dejando atrás, con este paso adelante, lo de futura promesa para ser un grupo que apuesta con fuerza por abrirse camino hacia la cima, con esa mezcla entre un sonido que bebe del mejor de los sonidos clásicos y la frescura de los tiempos que corren para hacer un sonido que puede gustar tanto a los más curtidos metalheads como a las generaciones más nuevas. Canciones para una vida - Atlas Pain - Odaudlegur

ODAUDLEGUR

Tras el primer disco de la banda italiana "Atlas Pain", "What the oak left" de 2017, una obra magnífica más teniendo en cuenta que fue la primera, nos dejan este año su segundo LP de estudio "Tales of a pathfinder" con la difícil misión de confirmar lo demostrado en su debut y colmar así las expectativas despertadas. Con ese estilo que muchas veces roza lo desarrollado por bandas como Equilibrium, (excelente espejo en el que mirarse), el grupo parece en esta segunda obra intentar tirar por la misma senda. Este "Tales of a pathfinder" vio la luz de forma oficial el pasado 19 de abril y de él hoy quiero dejar en el blog la canción "Odaudlegur", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Savatage - Blackjack Guillotine

BLACKJACK  GUILLOTINE

 Savatage es otra de esas bandas cuya fama ha llegado a casi todos los rincones de nuestro universo metálico, un grupo que ha sabido siempre ofrecer calidad y cambiar su estilo según sus necesidades compositivas, pasando por etapas más heavy metal de la old school, por otras más progresivas y conceptuales o incluso por otras que hacían más guiños al power. Formados en 1983 han editado, a fecha de esta reseña, 11 LP's y aunque llevan sin elaborar material nuevo desde 2001, su estatus como banda no es exactamente de grupo terminado. Hoy me quiero referir a su penúltimo disco de estudio, en una onda abiertamente progresiva y conceptual, como ya hiciesen en el anterior "Dead winter dead" del 95. Con este "The Wake of Magellan" del 97 estamos ante una obra un tanto más melódica, con muchos de los rasgos de su anterior disco pero algo menos cañera. Un disco en el que destacan varias de sus canciones, una de ellas este "Blackjack Guillotine", de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Amon Amarth - Crack The Sky

CRACK  THE  SKY

Estamos ya ante la inminente salida del undécimo disco de estudio de los suecos Amon Amarth, una banda de esas que también levantan enormes expectativas ante cada material nuevo que deciden publicar. El disco, "Berserker", verá la luz de manera oficial el próximo 3 de mayo y nos ha dejado ya un par de adelantos que nos enseñan por donde pueden ir los tiros de la nueva obra. Por lo presentado hasta la fecha parece que seguirán por el sendero de las últimas obras, una vez más para celebración del los seguidores más nuevos del grupo, quizá no tanto para los más viejos ya que como he dicho en alguna ocasión parece que la banda ha decidido alejarse de aquel sonido más extremo de los comienzos para acercarse aun sonido más melódico y vendible, eso si, siempre dentro del death melódico. Canciones para una vida - Manowar - Blood And Steel

BLOOD  AND  STEEL

Cuando ya pensábamos que lo habíamos visto todo sobre esta banda y su extraordinario talento para vender lo máximo posible con el mínimo esfuerzo van y se sacan de la manga una fórmula nueva, la de dividir un disco en tres EP's para, evidentemente, sacar mayor rendimiento econónimo a una docena de canciones, y es que, si vendiesen un disco nuevo a más de treinta euros ni ellos mismos lo comprarían, sin embargo, en tres cómodos plazos de diez euros que seguramente costará cada EP la cosa es mucho más factible. Desde luego estos tíos son únicos, para lo bueno y lo malo. Tras esa anunciada gira mundial de despedida, aplazada hasta la saciedad, esas noticias turbias del guitarrista expulsado de la banda por temas tan serios, tenían que sacarse de la manga algo para seguir ingresando pasta, pero no se si es la mejor solución. Sea como fuere, en lo extrictamente musical, estos tíos a mi siempre me han gustado, más al inicio, sin duda, pero han sabido dejar su sello en esto del Heavy para todo la eternidad. El primer EP de los tres citados, "The final battle I", llega con cuatro temas, uno de ellos una intro, editado en formato digital salió de manera oficial el pasado 29 de marzo, nada espectacular, para nada lo mejor de su carrera, pero siempre con ese gancho "True" tan marca de la casa. Cumpliendo todos los tópicos del grupo, de él hoy quiero dejar la canción que me ha parecido más acertada del cuarteto de temas que nos presentan, "Blood and steel".

Canciones para una vida - Sabaton - Bismarck

BISMARCK

 Sabaton es una de esas bandas que han alcanzado ese "Status" de grupo al que se espera con ganas, de esos grupos que toda la comunidad metálica mira con expectación cada material muevo que editan, y estamos en plena espera a la inminente salida del que será ya noveno álbum de estudio de la banda sueca, cuya salida oficial se espera para julio del presente 2019. Entre tanto, el grupo nos ha dejado un single de adelanto, que curiosamente no aparece en el track list de la edición regular del mencionado disco, "The great war", no se si este single "Bismarck" terminará apareciendo en las lógicas ediciones especiales, (Digipack, japonesa, etc). Lo que está claro es que ya tenemos confirmación de que Sabaton siguen sonando a Sabaton, y la salida de este single confirma esa idea a la que me refería al inicio de que toda la comunidad metálica está a la espera de cualquier cosa que edite la banda con más de medio millón de visualizaciones de su clip en youtube en menos de 24 horas, un clip oficial al que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Bloodshed Walhalla - Ragnarok

RAGNAROK

Poco a poco va tomando forma la discografía de la banda (mono miembro) Bloodshed Walhalla, de origen italiano y de regusto absolutamente clásico en lo que al sonido viking ambiental se refiere, con esas continuas reminiscencias a Bathory o Falkenbach que han estado presentes también en la estructura misma de las canciones, absolutamente ambientales, largas y complejas al tiempo que épicas y melódicas. Una vez más me quiero acercar a la obra de este italiano para dejar un tema del que resulta ser, a fecha de esta reseña, último disco editado por "Bloodshed Walhalla", "Ragnarok" de 2018. Cuatro temas lo componen extendiéndose, eso sí, por más de una hora, en temas largos marca de la casa, como decía más arriba. Quiero dejar la canción que da nombre a la obra, de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
