ALTAR  OF  THE  KING

Una vez más en el blog la banda estadounidense Riot, uno de esos grupos cuya historia se ha visto llena de obstáculos que siempre han sabido ir sorteando para, a pesar de no haber contado nunca con el apoyo del gran público, haber sin embargo realizado una extraordinaria discografía repleta de temas clásicos del heavy metal que para siempre quedarán en la mente de sus fieles, y de otras bandas a las que han influido con su estilo personal de la old school heavy metalera. Riot, siempre con un menosprecio desde la perspectiva de la industria discográfica tuvo que nadar a contracorriente en ese aspecto, aunque los metalheads que escuchaban su material por lo general quedaban ya por siempre enganchados a una banda que poseía una calidad innegable. Sus inicios, si bien menos reconocidos en cuanto a ventas eran, son y serán una influencia perfecta para un sonido digno de mayor repercusión y que se me antoja sin duda clave para comprender globalmente este maravilloso mundo metálico nuestro, una de las bandas más limpias de la época en Estados Unidos en mi humilde opinión. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro tema de su tercer LP, "Fire down under", de 1981, en la que encontramos grandes canciones que son hoy en día clásicos no solo del grupo, sino también de la historia del heavy metal, así "Run For Your Life",  "Swords and tequila", "Fire down under", o este "Altar of the king", del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.
