Cinco años han pasado desde el interesante debut de esta banda power finlandesa y su continuación que en estos días comienza a mostrar sus primeras pinceladas. Entre ambos toda una pandemia global que ha cortado su nacimiento y seguramente condicionado su crecimiento, como en tantas otras bandas habrá ocurrido. Este segundo album de estudio verá la luz de manera oficial este próximo mes de junio, y hasta ese momento nos dejan su primer adelanto, "King's a bitch", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Warrior - Welcome To The Kingdom

 

WELCOME  TO  THE  KINGDOM

Poca información puede encontrarse de esta banda Estadounidense de hard rock heavy metal cristiano de corte clásico, de la vieja escuela. Lo que hay que tener claro es que no hablamos de los "Warrior" legendarios, los del LP "Fighting for the earth", una de esas obras fundamentales históricas. Pero en esta ocasión, y si tomamos como cierta la información de que es un debut, el LP Warrior de la banda del mismo nombre, de este 2023, muestra un potencial suficiente para que uno pomga sus oidos en él. La mejor prueba siempre es un ejemplo sonoro, en este caso de uno de los temas que componen la obra, "Welcome to the kingdom" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Ammotrack - Accelerate

 

ACCELERATE

Hace tan solo un par de días que a traves de un buen amigo descubrí a esta banda sueca, "Ammotrack" de la que no tenía noticia alguna, y la verdad es que me ha sorprendido gratamente lo que he escuchado de ellos. Poca información se puede encontrar realmente de su carrera, que se inicia a l parecer en 2004 y que de momento está solo adornada con tres LP's de estudio, el último de ellos de este 2023, editada este pasado mes de marzo. Hablamos de un sonido heavy metal que hace incursiones en el power, llenos de potente energía y con una buena producción como suele ser "geneticamente" propio de su escuela. El citado tercer LP se titula "Accelerate" y de él dejo hoy en el blog el tema que lo da nombre, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Iced Earth - The Clouding

 

THE  CLOUDING

Poco a poco va tratando de levantar cabeza el bueno de Jon Schaffer tras su episodio político en su Estados Unidos natal, algo que le ha costado el rechazo de buena parte de sus colegas músicos, por ejemplo la notificación oficial por parte de Hansi Kursch de que no continuará en su colaboración con Jon a trave´s de su proyecto comun "Demonds and wizards", una lástima. De momento Schaffer ha encontrado salida en editar material viejo recopilandolo, un clásico cuando hace falta dinero y las ideas o los medios no abundan. En este caso editará dos EP's que recuperan temas de discos pasados, con rarezas y directos de la época en que Owens y Barlow iban y venían a la voz de la banda. El segundo de los EP's se titula "I walk among you" y en el se incluye por ejemplo el tema "The clouding" con Matt Barlow a la voz, originalmente grabado para el disco "Framing Armageddon" de 2007 con Tim Ripper Owens a la voz, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Los germanos Mob Rules son una de esas bandas que uno parece haber tenido siempre acompañandolo en el camino power, y es que sin duda, desde 1994 fueron de los primeros que decidieron unirse a esta corriente directamente, desde el comienzo, sin evolusión desde otra cosa, es una de esas bandas que nacieron con el movimiento y han contribuido con calidad y cantidad a su crecimiento. 9 LP's de estudio dan fé de lo que digo, a los que hay que añadir dos obras más en formato EP. En estos días la banda nos regala un nuevo single, que aún desconozco que vaya a pertenecer a un nuevo album, aunque imagino y espero que así vaya a ser, me gusta mucho esta banda. Si echamos la vista atrás, a los comienzos de la carrera de estos escoceses nos damos cuenta de que este es tan "solo" su séptimo LP de estudio, y lo hago notar tan solo por el hecho del gran crecimiento que ha tenido el grupo desde sus comienzos, en un inicio que poco podía hacer presagiar que se iban a transformar en una banda de las de primera línea, influyentes, con proyectos paralelos que han dado recientemente incluso para crear otra banda de la escisión de dicho proyecto paralelo, está calro que el universo "Alestorm" se expande y parece de momento no tener techo. Canciones para una vida - Terra Atlantica - Take Us Home

 

TAKE  US  HOME

La tercera entrega de los germanos "Terra Atlantica" nos la ofrecieron a finales del pasado 2022, un tercer capítulo de título "Beyond the borders" que sigue la estela de sus anteriores propuestas, un power metal melódico con detalles o tramos sinfónicos, y una temática histórico fantástica, con guiños corsarios y un trasfondo "Steampunk". El grupo parece que va dando pasos adelante aunque no se si lo suficiente como para destacar en la abarrotada escena internacional puesto que compositivamente tampoco es que ofrezcan nada demasiado novedoso, algo que sin ser intrensacamente negativo si que puede hacerles diluirse en el universo compositivo del europower. Canciones para una vida - Illusion - Squeeze Me

 

SQUEEZE  ME

Sigamos en esta ocasión con un sonido más próximo al concepto hard rockero, pero de ese cercano al hard 'n heavy tan frecuente en la década de los ochenta y que mejor que hacerlo con una banda de esa época, una de tantas que apenas alcanzaron el reconocimiento, con una casi nula repercusión, una vida breve de actividad y solo un par de LP's para demostrar su potencial, se trata de los estado unidenses "Illusion" quienes en 1985 editaron su debut en formato LP "Illusion" para continuarlo con su segundo y finalmente último trabajo de estudio en 1986 "I like it loud". Una pena que no continuasen por la calidad de su material, y además contaron con el apoyo de "Geffen" una de las grandes de la época, pero seguramente una vez más la saturación de la escena del momento pudo ser una causa más para su prematura separación. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de los temas que componen el citado debut homónimo al nombre de la banda, de 1985, concretamente la canción "Squeeze me" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Fifth Angel - When Angels Kill

 

WHEN  ANGELS  KILL

Parece confirmarse el retorno definitivo de una de esas bandas americanas de culto de la década de los ochenta, un grupo que dejo dos muestras de extraordinaria calidad para desaparecer durante muchas décadas y resurgir en 2018 con su tercera entrega, "The third secret", donde mostraron que no sería por capacidad compositiva, estaba claro que otros han de haber sido los motivos que les sacaron de la escena durante demasiados años. 2023 ha sido pues el año escogido para consolidar su regreso, con cambios en la formación original, el más notoble en el puesto de vocalista, aunque ya se subsanó con nota en su anterior entrega. El nuevo disco de Fifth Angel llevará por título "When Angels kill" y se trata de una obra conceptual en lo que al apartado lírico se refiere, un disco que saldrá a la venta de forma oficial el próximo mes de junio y del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube del tema que lo dará nombre.

Canciones para una vida - Crom - Bridge To Paradise

 

BRIDGE  TO  PARADISE

El cuarto LP de estudio de los germanos "Crom" no deja de ser una confirmación del sendero compositivo y conceptual que la banda ha tomado realmente desde sus inicios, y ese concepto, sea el que sea, es más sencillo de perpetuar si las decisiones provienen de una sola mente, de una única voluntad como en el caso de esta banda sucede en la persona de Walter Grosse, voz y guitarra además de bajista del grupo. Personalmente esta banda me enganchó desde sus inicios, particularmente con su magnífico debut, y aunque siempre tengo la sensación de que el nivel alcanzado en aquél nunca lo han vuelto a alcanzar, siempre son de mi agrado sus obras, incluida esta, "The Era Of Darkness" de este 2023, de la que hoy dejo en el blog otro de sus temas, "Bridge to paradise" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Vamos de nuevo con ese toque folk, ese enfoque épico, histórico en la propuesta de los holandeses "Heidevolk" a través de su séptimo LP de estudio y último editado en el presente año 2023, una propuesta particularmente intimista en lo que se refiere a una mirada introspectiva segun palabras de la propia banda, pero con el sello personal que ha dado forma a toda la discografía de la banda. HELLRIOT

"Hellriot" es ya el décimo segundo LP de los germanos "Mystic Prophecy", una banda con una larga también trayectoria en esto de la músicoa, uno de esos grupos que ha sabido ir haciendose con su propio espacio en el orden internacional y que cada vez más respetados, aún manteniendo un nivel bastante homogeneo que les pueda hacer previsibles, al ser alto resulta una cita ineludible con cada nueva producción. Canciones para una vida - Crowne - The Last Of Us

 

THE  LAST  OF  US

El segundo LP de los suecos "Crowne" ha respondido perfectamente a las espectativas despertadas en su debut "Kings in the north" de 2021. El estilo a medio camino del hard rock, el heavy melódico y un power melódico dejan clara la predilección de la banda por sonidos limpios, de impecable producción, de vocación moderna y la facilidad para generar temas engachones, con la capacidad de meterse en la cabeza del oyente, son pista suficiente de que tras la banda se encuentran musicos ya consagrados en otras batallas apareciendo así nombres como Yngwie Malmsteen, H.E.A.T., Autumn's Child, o Dynazty entre otros. Los suecos "Evermore" están de vuelta con su segundo LP, "In Memoriam", que saldrá a la venta el 21 de abril, se trata pues del momento de confirmar lo mostrado en su buen debut de 2021, e incluso, como debe ser en estos casos, ir un paso más allá en el sentido de crecimiento compositivo, veremos, de momento nos dejan un primer adelanto, "Queen of Woe", canción que me ha traido en varios momentos reminiscencias del material de los germanos "Edguy", europower pues, lo esperado tras su citado debut, melódico y de producción moderna, una canción esta "Queen Of Woe" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Frank Marino - You Got Living

 

YOU  GOT  LIVING

De la escena canadiense se ha hablado siempre bien, como no puede ser de otra manera, su único problema puedo haber sido lo eclipsada que estaba o está por la estadounidense, en el sentido de que se puede hablar de la escuela americana, sacando inconscientemente a Canada de la ecuación. Muchas bandas, y de mucha calidad, un poco como Suecia en Europa. El caso es que desde muy al principio, salieron artistas de contrastada calidad, que contribuyeron al desarrollo del heavy metal de ese lado del charco, siendo partes notables del puzzle internacional. Una de esas figuras puede ser considerado el guitarrista y cantante Frank Marino, quien encontró hogar compositivo desde 1969 en "Mahogany Rush". Desde el principio su importancia fue enorme en la banda hasta el punto de destacarlo con su propio nombre unido al de la banda. Para 1980 la banda ya editaba su séptimo LP de estudio, "What's Next", donde se notaba abiertamente el influjo del por entonces joven heavy metal, (americano claro), y un cierto sentido shred aunque algo progresivo.
